Subject: Chippendales anyone?

Written By: quirky_cat_girl on 12/21/06 at 9:00 pm

Ok...after seeing a few of the ladie's comments in several different threads regarding "hunky" men, and how they would love to see them without their shirts and/or pants on, while doing something manly (painting, mowing the lawn, etc)...it makes me wonder if I am in the minority of the women on this board and/or elsewhere.  It seems like a large percentage of women are really and truly turned on by: "tight buns", "hot & sweaty male bodies", "shirtless men with muscles", etc. These descriptions remind me of some corny Chippendales performer....or some star in a sappy romance novel (think Fabio).  Am I the only girl here who thinks that the following is more of a turn-off (actually borderlining revolting) than a turn-on?

I think it depends on the guy.  My girlfriends and I went to see "The Thunder from Down Under" once, and it was asinine.  Way too cheesy and boring.  Beth and I were talking about David Beckham painting our house shirtless on one of the other boards and I stand by that choice.  He is HOT.  But a lot of it is his persona that makes him hot - the fact that he's such a great athlete and kind of a bad boy.  I tend to go for bigger guys - I actually like a bit of a belly on a man.  But I can certainly appreciate a Brad Pitt type as well.  After all, variety is the spice of life!

Nah, you can keep the scantily clad males gyrating their whatsits around.  My friends and I went to a show once and I was so embarrassed and it just isn't my thing.  Now, if my hubby wants to shake his tookah for me, I'm all for that. Woot!  :D :D

Oh, and I'll still take a Chinese Chippendale bench please.

I'm more attracted to personality and intelligence, then good looks.  I mean, I appreciate that Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp look good for men in his 40s.  I like them most when they play quirky, funny roles rather then just being beefcake.  Never was into muscle men.  I always thought it funny when my female cousins and friends would drool over professional wrestlers.

Well, speaking from the other side of the fence as a straight man, I never wanted to look like that, and could never see what some girls/women found attractive in it. But, to each their own I guess.

Of course it depends on the person, and I'm not saying those guys are sleazy themselves, but it's a sorta "sleazy look", IMO.

I actually went to one of these shows called Flesh for Fantasy, it was so bad, and I was trying so hard not to laugh, that about a third of the way through I had to get out before I exploded. I went to the bar and laughed and laughed and laughed, I couldn't even order a drink for about 10 minutes cos I was weeping with laughter. The girl behind the bar said she'd done exactly the same when she had gone through to watch them the night before.

Yeah, I like to look at beefcake. I went to a few shows (wasn't Chippendales per say but local guys) in my younger days-and was part of a group that won a bottle of champaign one night for being the rowdest group.  ;D ;D Some of them were ok, but others, I didn't find that great. Had a friend who was dating one of the dancers and one time he ripped his leather pants and she asked me if I could sew it for him (I had a sewing machine).

As they say, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder". What one person finds sexy, the other may not. There is no one rule as to what is sexy.

Erin, I think I am a lot like you.

I have never found big bulging muscles attractive at all.

I did date a guy once who was all about working out and gaining muscle, the problem was, I couldn't cuddle that. Somehow a had pectoral muscle being pushed into the side of my face as I am trying to cuddle it, and him flexing it all the time thus giving my brain a headache from being smashed from side to side in my head all the time just sucked!

I like a man who is himself. Love handles here, bit of a spare tire there.

Vince Vaughn is hot to me.
So is Heath Ledger.
Two different sides of the realm if you will.

I like oddness and kookiness sometimes.

Now my husband.... he has everything. He is exactly 1 foot taller than me and soft in all the right spots! ;)

yep...you are exactly like me!  I am the same way. Most of the guys that I find attractive are not your typical "hunks".  I mean, if my husband were to gain a six pack, I don't know what I would do...I love his little belly!! LOL! :D

I HATE MALE STRIPPERS!!!

Every year the ladies from my husband's job get together and go watch them.  My husband tries to get me to go with them.  He assumes that I'd get turned on, when in fact it would do just the opposite.  ;D  He just doesn't get it.

I would much rather watch a female exotic dancer than a male.  I want to barf thinking about some greased up dude shaking his you-know-what in my face.  :D

I'd go see Chippendales, if my friends wanted to go.  Frankly, I'd be going to watch other women make fools of themselves rather than for me to get something out of it.  Guys naked are really hot....but those aren't guys that I'd date, so seeing them naked isn't like "OMG I MUST HAVE HIM".

Good idea, however I'd be afraid they'd pick me out of the crowd and make a fool out of me.

I rather watch some hot constrution guy in jeans and no shirt, working. To me that's sexier.

I agree with you, Erin...

When I was 20, I might have thought those guys were 'hunky'...but I've found that as I get older they really don't hold much appeal for me!

I appreciate Chippendale dancers and models for looking as good as they do, but I don't like my man that pretty for myself. I just like my guy to have a good personality, and if he's attractive to me then, I am perfectly happy with that. There are some actors and celebrities who are not considered conventially good looking, but I find them very attractive. Heck, even watching John Ratzenberger dance the other night was a turn on to me just because he moved good!  ;D

No, not at all.  For most men it's visual-see a boobie and they're ready to go (if they're straight)  :D.  For us Women, we need mental stimulation first.

Not at all, because like I've said, it's the same for me with girls. Some of my friends just don't "get" it and I sometimes just can't convince them. There's a perception that guys, especially young guys are "supposed" to like that stuff, and I never have.

Mildly sexy is one thing and I'm cool with that, but I've never understood most other straight guys' obsession with lesbians and pornos, for instance. To use a specific example (since I always liked female singers, lol): my idea of attractive is, say early Paula Abdul or Amy Grant. They were sexy, but in an innoncent/cute, wholesome way. Certainly different than chicks in your typical softcore '00s rap video.

The Fabios, Chippendales, or really ripped guys are sorta just the male equivalent of that on the women's side of it. I also can look at it in the sense of as a guy I wouldn't want to look like that myself.
