Subject: If you were a performing artist or band, who would you be like?

Of course if it were totally up to me, I'd be an '80s pop/rock act like Hall and Oates, Huey Lewis or late-period Foreigner. That fits my personality - cheesy and innofensive yet cool. Assuming it was right now, if I were a performer, I'd probably do very lightly alternative-influenced AC pop/rock like The Fray, or maybe one of the more upbeat pop/punk bands like Fountains of Wayne.
No matter what I'd be mainstream though. ;)

I'd probably like Interpol. With weird lyrics that are hard to understand, but yet they're beautiful. And with a guitar and bass that play more patterns than riffs.

The ironic thing with me is, there's lots of music I personally like, but wouldn't be able to pull off as a musician (either in image or lyrically). To be honest, I'd be introspective as a songwriter, so even though I prefer the sound of '80s songs, I'd probably be a better '90s songwriter. I could even do some '00s Indie lyrics too.

True, if this is a fantasy. ;)
But even to use an '80s example, I wouldn't cut it as a hair metal singer with a macho attitude, repetitive "let's rock"-type lyrics or cheesy sexual metaphors and innuendos. Since I'd want to be one of those people whom the cool crowd would like, but also safe and nice enough to appeal to Middle America or soccer moms, I'd be better as an AC-esque rock act. I would say new wave, but I'm not quite artsy enough for that.

Yeah, new wave existed in the underground from 1977 to late 1982. Probably once "Do You Really Want To Hurt Me" came out, everyone got into it, even the stuff that was already a few years old.
Bummer nobody got into you guys at the time, but I guess the bright side is that anything underground could go mainstream eventually. And knowing you were, in a way a pioneer of a certain musical style.

That being said, I think Debbie Harry is really attractive regardless of age (although she certainly looks younger than she is). She's 62 now or will be this year, making her around 34 in 1979 when Blondie were at their commercial peak.

I would be like....Scott Weiland who was the frontman of the 90's rock band Stone Temple Pilots and now is the frontman for "Velvet Revolver". Scott had sung so many great songs with Stone Temple Pilots and now Velvet Revolver he is sounding good too. STP was my favorite band of the 90's.

The Vaselines are a band from Scotland.
Freedy Johnston is alittle more well known, he's more of a progressive rock artist(not harsh or abrassive), but song of his songs are alittle folk-ish.

I was already thinking about taking drum lessons. The organ teacher that my sister had said I wasn't "right" for the organ. I've Always liked the drums. (Suitable replacement. perhaps . . . SOMEDAY)

I guess a cool thing about being someone like David Bowie or Prince is that you're never really tied to one specific style. Bowie was sorta punk, glam rock and new wave all at once.

That's news to me. It's hard for me to imagine Bowie rapping (for that matter, would you really want to? ;D ), but I guess if any of the veterans could pull it off, it would be him.

I'd probably be like Shania Twain. I can relate to how she performs. Also, Paul McCartney and Glenn Frey (who I've seen both in person) are inspiring performing artists.
