I took the kids to school this morning, came home and cleaned my bathroom and waited for the plumber to fix a leak in the downstairs bathrrom then I clean up after him. I did some other stuff around the house.
A little later I'll get the kids and then run to the grocery store.
It's going to be in the mid 80's today so I'm sure the kids will want to play on the water slide this after noon.

How was the Cirque Du Soleil to the Beatles Love? I bought 3 of the CDs for Christmas for me and the girls and it's amazing, so I bet the show was awesome!
Today I went to buy some flowers to plant, but didn't really find anything I liked, so just ended up buying 2 ink cartridges, then when I got home I walked down the lane next to my house to find some interesting big rocks to put in my flower gardens.

The hair I get done every month (gotta keep those gray's covered up ;D ;D ) and next week we have a retirement party to go to. I went through my closet and most of the spring/summer dresses I have are either too tight or too loose (my weight has gone up and down in the last few years) so I figured it was time for some new NICE clothes. Hopefully, next week, Hubby will drop me off at the mall and I can do some real damage. ;D ;D ;D

the show was great, especially good if you're a maniacal Beatles fan. I want to see it again soon. They play most of the music from the new Beatles Love cd and a little bit more.

Yesterday I bought a new hairdrier and some ceramic straighteners and this morning I did my hair so it looks paasably like the hairdresser did it! Usual work stuff this morning, meeting with the management this afternoon. My husband will be out training tonight so I'll take the kids to Subway for tea and then we might pop round to see my dad if he is out of hospital.

Actually, it was first piece of clothing I have bought in such a long, long time.
Today, we are going to a briefing about some heath insurance to see if it is worth our while to sign up for it. Then tonight, we MAY (or may not) go to an auction. Haven't decided yet.

This is mainly for Carlos because I am already covered under the V.A. He has insurance through his work which will end when he hits medicare age so we are going to see if this is worth it for us.

I think its a fairly recent introduction. There are two in the town where I live: one opened less than a year ago, the other has probably been open about three years I think. I expect they have been in the bigger cities for longer than that.

That's gotta be a real pain for the couple! It's something I've never considered myself before, since I'm only in my mid-30's. In some cases that could leave one spouse insured, and the other not.
I have another q, Spaceace, since you seem to know this stuff. Do you know if there are there preexisting condition limitations when a person gets on Medicare? Meaning if they had the condition b4 they reached that age...tough luck, Medicare wouldn't cover it?

Another thing is when both spouses hit the age where they can get medicare and Social Security benefits are usually based on the person with the higher income. My Mom was a teacher and my Dad was an Insurance executive. My mom's benefits are based on my Dad's salary while he was working. They don't take into consideration my Mom's income. :P
I don't know of any. In fact some people end up on disability (SSDI) which can include Medicare Part A and B for preexisting conditions. Usually in those cases the condition has worsened to the point of where a person can't work.

One thing I ended up NOT doing yesterday was getting my hair cut. When I got to the salon yesterday, the receptionist told me that my hairstylist was having car trouble; the receptionist even tried calling me yesterday morning, but apparently she had my phone # written down incorrectly. So I didn't know until I got there. So then I had to reschedule my haircut appointment for next Wednesday morning.

Well...Vaughn and I stopped at some rummage sales at a few local churches today...then went shopping for a bit. Then...I started digging out the old stones in the front yard (we are doing some landscaping)....then Chris came home and we rode over to my parents so that he could borrow some lawn tools...then when we came home he continued digging only to stumble onto the remains of the old sidewalk...so he spent the rest of the late afternoon using a sledgehammer on it...what a pain. I cooked on the grill and Vaughn and I played until it was time to put him to bed.

He's only 34...dang. I didn't realize that we were elderly yet. ;D Mayweather is 30...I think.
I don't know how they score those fights, but I really thought it could have gone either way. Oscar was more aggressive throughout the fight and threw more punches. Mayweather was more defensive and threw fewer punches, but was more accurate when he did throw a punch.

I surely didn't mean to insinuate that 34 is ederly, just not spry enough for the rigors of top level boxing, in my estimation. I'm sure these pugilists got big paychecks for the fight.

I tossed a few pitches earlier, with the radar and the big strike mat (Have you ever seen one? It's like a mattress up against the wall and it's full of sensors that record information about what you've been throwing.) I didn't embaress myself like I thought I would., I was throwing around 82-84MPH and had some decent accuracy going on (which is uncommon, I'm usually all over the place.) If I'm gonna play in the fall then I need to build my velocity back up to 88-90 which I don't know if I'll be able to do, but if I can I think I'll do pretty good and have some fun come the fall.

Yeah pretty good until towards the end of my shift one of the owners of one of the stores came up to me and told me not to throw away the Pathmark flyers and just keep them in the carts. He kind of looked like he was angry and was about to hit me,Plus the guy must've had beer on his breath cause there's a liquor store right next door.I told my supervisor about the situation and she told me to just ignore him and throw away the flyers, don't listen to him and just do your job.

holiday weekend for us here. We went to South Wales to stay with the mother-in-law partly because she lives about an hours drive away from what we really wanted to do! Saturday was the individual races for the British Orienteering Championship. The weather was lovely which helped because I did not have a good run. On Sunday it was the relay races. I didn't run but my husbands team came in 5th overall which was good. Yesterday the weather wasn't so good so we took m-i-l to a couple of places looking at replacement cloakroom stuff, to some shops that has a playground nearby so the kids could burn off some energy and then we went somewhere for lunch. We got home last night just in time to put the kids to bed at their usual time.

I opened it, and it had 3 books inside. I guess when I paid for a Medical Assisting course last week, they sent an order of the three textbooks I'd need for the class. For some reason, I never recieved a notice of how or when I'd get these books, just that what I'd paid to reserve my seat in the class would be my payment also for my textbooks. So, there they were. I skimmed through them and boy, I'm getting scared!! SO much to learn!

;D You've got beastly size so I see why you hurl the baseball at high velocity. when you mentioned not being able to hit a curve, I thought of Cerrano , the voodoo player from the movie Major league and his idol statue Jobu. I can hit as hard and far as some of the bigger players, for a being a little fella, 5'7" 160, and my defense is solid. my hitting is all technique, timing, rhythm, weight shift, very much like sex, plus i have a couple of $300 bats that are nicknamed cheater bats because they give the hitter extra pop & distance, at least 30 feet more! thanks for the HR kudos, no pizza, just high fives and it was funny because I was signaled by both the 3rd & 1st base coach to try to hit it out & I tattooed the first pitch over the left field fence. that was cool 8) good to hear you're out having fun, if you lived around here, you could play on one of my teams.

I wouldn't wanna play against you Mike, you'd either knock one out, or I'd accidentally bean you! ;D
I really, REALLY need to do some work on my control. It's never been great.. ok.. it's always been poor, so I need to work on that and the only way to do that is to throw more. Which is ok, it's fun.
Yeah, technique is the key always.. and with baseball as well.. haha, ok..ok.. but yeah, it's impressive that you can do that as a smaller guy. $300 for a bat! Jeez!

getting beaned hurts, dammit, I'd have to charge the mound ;D yeah, you need control so you don't kill somebody or disable them. $300 is the retail rate for the best & hottest bats, but I have friends that get them free from their team and they sometimes sell extras to us lower division players, but i have 4 of those bats so I don't need to buy anymore. If i had you're size, I'd be a very dangerous hitter.

I'll bet. Sometimes I really wish I'd been born in the US instead of moving here. I think maybe with coaching I could be a real good pitcher. I've certainly got the size to get great velocity behind the ball and maybe I could have got a free ride or something doing that, but alas, it's a bit late now.
I couldn't warrant spending $300 on some wood.. ugh.. that's insane! Although I guess the $300 bats are the aluminum ones?

where are you, in England? with coaching and daily training you could have had a baseball card Davey. aluminum is all but gone now and for awhile the high tech alloys were the rave, since 2003, Composite bats are the ticket, made from graphite, glass, resin fibers to create a sort of plastic bat that out performs anything previously used. I have a couple friends that still swing aluminum alloy bats, but the majority of us use the new ones and there is a noticable difference. hey, you could be a walk on at college when you go back to school. :)

I got a card. my daughter made it for me ;D So you got the size for 400ft bombs. The bats the college players use are those kind and I wouldn't doubt if they are juiced/loaded/vised/shaved/rolled, all techniques for illegaly altering the bats to perform better, but reducing the durability, they eventually crack and break. That is a big problem, even down to my level, and on my own team and other teams. people are always trying to gain an advantage. I play against a few opponents & teammates that launch balls that would leave most every major league park. as for me, my max distance is about 325' measured out as I hit one over centerfield 309' ft fence but that's my max unless I go hardcore with the weights and get into better shape, but HRs are a bonus for me, not a regular part of my game. line drives is my thing. I trust you are healed up from your recent tequila gluttony. I remember those Tequila nights, my gosh, some mornings i swore I'd never drink it again.
going home to try to set up a scanner on our computer, so possilbly new pics to post soon.

I took Chris out to dinner at Smokey Bones....then we went to drive golf balls, and played a round of mini golf (which I kicked his arse)!! LOL! ;D :D

sounds like fun, Erin. ;) I haven't played miniature golf since my teens... but I have played "regular" golf with my dad and had a good time. The golf class that I took in Fall 2004 got me interested in playing.

Chris has been playing golf for a few years now...I didn't realize how good he is getting, because it has been sometime since we've gone to drive golfballs...man, can he hit that ball now..I'm so proud of him. :) He wants to teach me how to play real golf now....so I think I will take him up on his offer. :)

I last played golf last July, two days before my birthday. It took me several shots to get to various holes, but just being out there and whacking the ball was good activity. :)

Yes....you don't have to be good to have fun, that's for sure! ;)

You are so right...it's all about having a good time. Just like when I go bowling. I haven't bowled in almost 7 years, but I do like to try to avoid gutter balls. If I don't do something for a while, then I tend to "lose it". However, if I only bowl, say...a 56, then that's ok for me. For the record, I've only hit the triple digits in bowling once, and that was in July 1999, when I bowled 109.

I'm not good at bowling either...the best I've ever scored was like maybe 115 or so....but I have fun anyway. I always thought it would be cool to be on a bowling league...complete with the retro 50's bowling shirts, etc. :D

My mom bowled a lot in high school (late 60's) with her friends... and in the early to mid-80's, when I was a little kid, she tried her hand at bowling again. Her best game ever was a 246, which she'll probably never be able to come close to again, due to a permanently dislocated bone in her wrist (caused by a 1989 roller skating accident).
In the late 90's, I had a friend who was on a bowling league, and he bowled quite well...but he sadly died of a seizure in October 2001 at age 19. :\'(

325 ain't bad. That'd be out in close right/left in a lot of parks.
Last time I actually hit one out in a game was about 3 years ago and it must have been more than 360 which is good.
My man Pete is the real hitter though, I guess more like you, he's a contact guy. He's only 5'9 but he's about 205 so he can get a lot of power, I bet he'd benefit from one of those cheaters bats. ;D

Thank you Erin... yes, she was pretty good in her heyday. I'd like to try bowling again sometime, after an almost 7 year hiatus.

Composite bats are the ticket, made from graphite, glass, resin fibers to create a sort of plastic bat that out performs anything previously used. I have a couple friends that still swing aluminum alloy bats, but the majority of us use the new ones and there is a noticable difference.
But does it have that beautiful Louisville Slugger crack, when it connects to the ball. It is one of those sounds that just goes to the center of my heart, like the thump of a Harley, there isn't anything to compare. :)

There was a time when I was great at Bowling and I scored a 185 on my league but when I wound up twisted my hamstring in 2002,I didn't do so good so I sucked and about a year later I quit bowling leagues altogether and now I just bowl for fun now and retired my ball and bag forever.

Damn straight. Those metal bats always used to have that pansy azz little *ping*, I never cared for that. Kind of like if there wasn't a *thwunk* when the ball hit the catchers glove.

Jeez!
If I could combine you & my oldest, you'd be the best pitcher of all time. He's got the accuracy, but not the oomph behind it. Although, now that he's finally figuring out to use his legs, he's getting more speed, but losing a little of the accuracy.
Oh, and I've hit 3 "over the fence" homers in softball....of course, that was 20+ years ago and I was 5'6" and a whopping 90-95 lbs :o I did label a couple into right/center at the oldest's baseball practice a few weeks ago....the head coach was joking that they'd "tape me down" and put me in the lineup ;D
