Subject: Which decade are you into?

I think you all know I primarily love the 70s.  I just wonder where other members' and visitors' interests lie.

Which is your decade?

90s mainly, due to my love of the music from that decade.

I can't pick just one...because I love aspects of a few. I love the 30's to the 50's....real retro and cool stuff from those decades.....but I really love the 70's as well...the music was great.  I do love the 80's too..because that's when I grew up and I had so many great memories....ah hell, basically anytime but the present! ;D

I wasn't born til 1977, but there are some bands from that decade(Aerosmith, Black Sabbath for example) that I do love.

MmmHmmm.

NWOBHM - '79 - '85 primarily.
Bay Area Thrash scene. - '81 - '89.
NY/NJ Thrash - '80 - '85.
Florida grind - '88 - '96

Pretty much 1979 - 1994 or so.

I guess 80's.

Um, can I say 1975 - 1985.  Anything before '75 I don't remember, anyway. Anything after 1985, for the most part, sucked...

Also the 160s C.E.  Ancient Rome buff...

Well, I like a little of everything, but it's an eternal tossup between the '80s and '90s.

It's hard to describe exactly, but basically I think I prefer the pop culture of the '80s, but I'd rather go back to live in the '90s, since I know the "life" of it in more detail. Plus, they're still very agreeable to the world of 2007 when you think about stuff like Green Day, the first use of the Internet and rounded cars existing. It was just alot closer to the past and more old-school, so it was like the best of both.

However, I've always had an indirect nostalgia for times I know about but didn't live in. Visiting a time before I was born (from the early Twentieth century, up to c. 1983) would be fun for a few days just to experience it, but I wouldn't want to be stuck there, lol.

1969 through 1976 groups like Badfinger and many others putting out great music. all the weed you could smoke, foxes in minskirts & Levi cutoff shorts, cool cars,  house parties, parties everywhere, in the almond orchards, at the river. that was the period of time where I was 13 to 20 and loved every year of it.

Vanessa Kensington: Mr. Powers, my job is to acclimatize you to the nineties. You know, a lot's changed since 1967.
Austin Powers: No doubt, love, but as long as people are still having promiscuous sex with many anonymous partners without protection while at the same time experimenting with mind-expanding drugs in a consequence-free environment

Austin Powers (qft)  ;D

...I must add that there was a lot more going on in life and the world during these years than what I've put down, but this is what my own experience was during this particualr span of time.

Just about anything before 1990. The 19th century always fascinated me. I did my honor's thesis on the time frame between 1820-1850.

The 1860's and the 1980's :)

I'm with you. If I could start over with school again(and I may when I retire) I would like to study the years from about 1860 to 1940.  Civil war to the ramifications of WWI.

Definately the '90s. I grew up in that decade so it's a very special decade for me. The '80s are second place, but the '00s are in the way back. :P

I chose the '80s as that's when a lot of my first childhood memories formed. I also have a very strong fondess for any decade prior to that. I love them all for various reasons.

1900's - Neo Classical music, beautiful fashion, Edwardian era.
1910's - Scott Joplin/Ragtime tunes
1920's - Jazz and blues come into prominence, flapper style fashion, silent movies, first movie stars.
1930's - More Jazz and blues, plus Swing music! Talking films, Astaire and Rodgers, beautiful fashions.
1940's - Swing and Standards at their height - Frank Sinatra, Tommy Dorsey, Glenn Miller, etc. Women help with WWII. Great movies with Rita Hayworth, Claudette Colbert, Ava Gardner, Judy Garland, Vivien Leigh and Laurence Olivier.
1950's - Post-war music produced more standards. Elvis Presley and Rock & Roll become popular. More gritty films demonstrating teen frustrations with their elders. Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, etc.
1960's - Rock and Roll at it's peak. A new breed of young movie stars come into prominence - Dustin Hoffman, Clint Eastwood, Faye Dunaway, Anthony Hopkins.
1970's Metal music and soft rock - what a combo in one decade! Then there were the Osmonds,  :) Great TV shows in the '70s which many when right on into the '80s.

I am overjoyed that Jack FM is off and they brougght back New York's famous 101.1 Oldies station.
I had forgotten how much I loved Britsh Invasion and the mellow pop of the late 60s.
