Just been to ikea and Decathlon to buy stuff for work.  They didn't have the laundry bag we wanted so now I'll have to try somewhere else.

Meeting someone from the estate agents today about renting out our house. Going orienteering tonight after work.

Over the weekend my family are coming round for a meal on Saturday and we are visiting friends in their new house on Sunday.

Tell me about it. We keep buying more and more inventory but our ebay sales haven't been that great lately. Of course summer is a slow time so we hardly have been putting stuff up. Come fall, we are going to do higher volume than we have been-just to get rid of all this junk..er..stuff.

well, I worked today, and then after work I went shopping for clothes so I would have something nice to wear to this wedding we're going to tomorow. I guess Lady Di don't wanna go with a sloppy guy. But before we go, we have to pick up our car from the shop. Just got a tune up and brakes. then wedding , then home to clean clean clean because in 2 weeks, we're having a BASH here at the house for Julie's graduation and should be a lot of family and friends. so I'm gonna be doing stuff all day but i'll be thinking about y'all  8)

Maybe tomorrow night, after I've done ample studying, I'll reward myself by coming back here to do my usual posting routine. Hopefully I won't miss Abix/Angel again.

oh i know...I have a bunch of the old stamps...so now I have to buy those stupid 1 cent ones or whatever. I heard that they made this stamp that you can buy that doesn't have the price on it...and you can save them and use them for whenever the post office decides to raise their prices once again.

Oooh, I've never thought about doing that....the stamp with no price on it, that is.  Those are good to keep around then.

I washed the car I'm borrowing.. after I took it out yesterday along the Mississippi flood plains and absoloutly thrashed it.  ;D

It's my friend Rob's car.. a 2005 Mustang with a 4.6 Litre V8.

In other words, several hours of fun.

Down there on the flood plains in Southern Illinois, there's long roads that just stretch out for miles, with some great bends and no other cars.. ever. I took it down there and had hours of fun, like I say, I thrashed it around.  ;D

So today I gave it a real good clean, inside and out.

I also got some tickets for Friday nights ballgame and later on this evening I'm going out to dinner.

It's called the "forever" stamp.....which makes me wonder, why would people NOT buy those instead of the 41 cent ones? ???

I rarely use stamps so I figure 100 will last me forever ;D  I did go out and buy the stupid 2 & 4 cent ones (since I found an entire book of 37 cent stamps ::))

That happened to me before.

Not with Snopes, but the same thing.

There's a fella here in the U.S called Bill Gertz, he's a reporter for the Washington Times and does things on Fox News from time to time.

Anyway, I happened to send him an e-mail, calling him out for some blatantly false information he had in his column.

Within 5 minutes he sent me an e-mail back, telling me such and such was correct and here's where to find it.

Well, I sent him one back and we actually had a brief but pleasant correspondence going.. anyway, eventually, I got really tired of having to think on my feet so much (the guy is so much smarter and better informed than I am) and I had to pretty much get away.  ;D

Spent the majority of the day in Rutland. Had to do an errand that didn't take as long as expected but had to wait until Carlos was done with one appointment he had. Then, we went to lunch (to celebrate his birthday  ;D ) and we still had time to kill so we to the Home Depot to price some items that we need to get for our next project (the kitchen lighting/painting). We still had time before his next appointment but went early hoping they could get him in. After waiting a half hour, he got in a half hour before his scheduled appointment. Now, to kick back.

In the UK you can buy books of stamps that just say they are for 1st or 2nd class post.  They do change the colours of them when the price changes but you can still use the old stamps no problem.

This morning we had a brief meeting with the headteacher to discuss our move to the US.  She says the school will send a formal report on our children's attainment levels to the new school when we know the address.  She also said she was fairly confident we would be able to get James back into the school when we return but she couldn't guarantee it. :-\\

This afternoon I'm helping to put up a pagoda tent thing for a do this evening at work.  I will be one of the official photographers at this important lecture this evening.  I'd better do a good job because it's for the head of Department and he is the one that needs to complete the paperwork for my leave of absence request.

Last night some f*ckr got into my car and my alarm did not go off which has me puzzled because if a door or window is open, it should go off & it didn't which makes me think I may have screwed up and not activated it  >:( anyways, they didn't take any of my cd's or registration, just took a few old coins.  Tuesday we had new windows installed in our home and they are beautiful but the company messed up on our big patio sliding glass door and made the frame too large, so they are putting a rush on getting one built to our custom order and will hopefully be ready and installed by next week, just in time for Julie's graduation party. Going to work tomorrow and playing poker at my friends house after work, and then Julie graduates on Saturday and then after lunch, I'm going to a huge poker party that is a fundraiser for my friends daughter;s softball team, and hoping to win some major cash there.

I got a chance to go to Williamsburg last year.  If I were you, I would go in the fall or early spring when the cherry trees blossom.  They weather is better during those times.  I really liked it up there (or down there for you) and I would like to go back for a few more days sometime.

I just had a weird phone call from my husband.

We had a letter from the local council a few weeks ago asking us to pay council tax on a house we no longer own.  Obviously just telling them we no longer own the property wasn't sufficient we actually have to prove we'd sold it.  Given that we sold it a few years ago we couldn't recall the name or address of the new owners so we contacted the solicitor who'd done the original paperwork for us.  My husband had telephoned them and left a message on their answerphone so he was ringing back today to chase things up.  The solicitor said to Dai that his wife (i.e. me) had telephoned the other day and asked about the paperwork so he'd found it all and had it on his desk ready.  Except I never called !

What is a community yard sale? I'm guessing it's a bit like what we call car boot sales. Where you pay a fee to have a pitch where you set up and sell your stuff from and people pay a small fee to come in and look round?

a community yard sale is when a town decides a day to advertise to the public, and anyone that lives in that town can put things out in their yard to sell.  So, the cool thing about it is that you end up going to well over a 100 houses, depending on the size of the town. There are a few communities that have these during the summer, infact, the town that I live in has theirs in August. It's a lot of fun! :)

tonight it's the AGM of the scout group my daughter goes to so I'll go along to that.  Over the weekend we'll be buying some wall paper and checking out some paint colours I think.  Elizabeth has a dance exam on Sunday and I have been asked to help in the changing rooms as well.

Thanks, guys (and karma to ya).

The main problem is this stupid dial-up which makes the downloading SOOOOOOO slow. Yesterday, I tried to download a couple of things that didn't work-so I'm trying it again today. (So far, so good.) At this rate, I MAY have everything just the way I want by the time it is ready to upgrade everything once again.  ::)

For the past several years, I have sent an e-mail to our server asking them WHEN they were going to get DSL in our area. The last response I got (a few weeks ago) was not this year. (But they have it about 15 miles from here.  ::)  ) The problem is, we do like our little local server. We could go with Verizon but we REALLY hate Verizon-and it would be about $30 a month, here. We think that our little local server has a business DSL in this area but we haven't looked into it because it probably means $$$. I recently heard that Earthlink has DSL in this area but we really haven't looked into it because that will mean leaving our little local server. So, hopefully by next year, our server will have DSL in this area.

To answer your question about have we ever thought about going with DSL-the answer is A LOT!!!!

Oh, that would be cool. Yes, it's a LOT faster than dial-up....we had cable for awhile, but it was so darn expensive..then we tried DSL....it's a LOT cheaper, and to tell you the truth, it's about the same speed as our cable was. :)

Today was a good day....we took Vaughn to his friend Sarah's birthday party...and we stayed. Everyone was having water balloon fights and acting goofy...it was really fun!

So I've been a bit busy. Friday night played poker at my friends house & Lady Di won. Dagnabit! Saturday was Julie's graduation ceremony & that was awesome. I bought her a dozen beautiful  roses; lavender, red, & pink. I wanted to give her something after the ceremony, yanno, that daddy-daughter thing. After the ceremony, everyone went outside & we found her in the crowd & I gave them to her & had a pic taken of her & me which I'll post soon. I went to a fundraiser poker tournament last night that sucked! Totally unorganized. Oh well, it was to raise money for my friend's daughter's softball team. Went to church this morning & a friend from Roseville was visiting so we took him to lunch at Applebees. Came home & cleaned up the garage, trimmed the hedges & mowed the front yard. Diane & I just finalized food plans for Julie's party next Saturday. If everyone shows, we'll have about 70-75 people but I'm thinking there will be some no-shows & more like 50-60 which is still a lot. Diane & Julie bought a chocolate fondue fountain so it's gonna be fun. Next week, I'm going to gather a bunch of pics of Julie with family & friends & make a collage. anyways, that's why I haven't been around much. Tomorrow night is Playoff night for my Monday night softball team. After we win our first game at 630pm, then we watch then #4 & #1 seeds battle it out to see who will play us afterwards in the Championship game at 8:50pm. I can hardly wait.  8)

Sounds like you've been very busy.  And some softball playoffs tomorrow...that's gonna be an all nighter.  I remember when I was in the AF and we would have squadron softball teams.  They would send us permissive TDY to play other bases and we would do the playoff thing.  Talk about slack time. ;D  Of course I never played...just the cheerleader.

We used to switch houses when we were kids, one day at mine the next at someone else's, then someone else's.  It seems like they're always over here.  I would be nice if someone extended the invitation to come to their house.  Then again, I doubt I'd let her go, because I don't trust the other parents around here to watch my kids.

I finally got around to buying a new car today.

It's.... a sensible choice, seeing as I've left some cash aside to build up and buy a nice project car sometime in the new year.

It's a cutlass, fairly new, with just 32K on it.

Although it's not quite what I was after, it was such a bargain I couldn't turn it down, plus buying this left enough cash to build up a fair kitty to pay cash for something slightly more interesting in the new year.
I was really keen to get something fun.. then it occurred to me, but only having the one car (and it would essentially be a project) I'd just be setting myself up for annoyance, anytime I had to rebuild or replace anything on it, I would be in vehicle limbo, so I figured, be sensible.. then when I can afford to do it properly, get the fun car.

Plus.. insurance is so bad for me, seeing as I'm young and have been involved in a couple of accidents.  :-[ So the Captain Sensible-mobile is a wise option until my no-claims builds back up.

Good choice, it'll last forever.  My first car was a '79 Cutlass (I got it in 1986) and drove it until 1997!!!  It still ran good when I sold it for a whopping $500.  ;D

They're letting you out of work early?
I almost didn't get the time, but the bosses couldn't say no  ;D  so I got off work 2 hours early, and my work was done so that helped in the decision to let me go and it was so worth leaving early as my #2 seeded softball team beat the #3 seed in the 1st playoff game this evening 20-10 which earned us a spot in the Championship game. I hit a 2run home run over the right field fence & that was pretty exciting. We then watched the #1 seed vs. #4 seed play the 2nd game to see who would play us in the big game, and it was the #1 seed team. They beat us both times in the regular season for our only 2 losses. Well, tonight was payback time  8) We scored 13 runs in the top of the first inning & that was all we'd need as we beat them 23-11 to become the Monday Night Champs. It was awesome, we played really well tonight & now I'm savoring the sweet taste of Victory.

See, now this I don't get.  In the days of yesteryear the Nova was your grannies car and the Cutlass was the muscle.  I have asked a few of the ancient ones(such as myself), and they can't figure it out either.

Today is the last day of school(half day, actually).  It was supposed to be the 21st, but since there weren't any snowdays they moved it up to the 14th, then they said they would stagger the different class finals and they moved it up to the 13th, then I got a notice on Friday that they had rescheduled Jakes tests so he would be getting out today.  Needless to say it pisses me off that this is indicative of my tax dollars at work.  >:(

That'd be lovely.

My buddy Norm knows a guy with a Torino he's going to be getting rid of.. I guess I'll see what I can get it for. It'd be a bit of a stretch to buy 2 cars within the space of a few days, but if he's asking low $'s then I'll get that and put it in the garage until I have the cash to work on it properly.

That would be cool to get started on something now, but I would wait until you are somewhere more permanent.  Nothing worse that having to move and drag two cars with you.

I'm not moving anywhere for the foreseeable future. I've got a good scholarship deal going for the coming year, a decent enough job and a decent place I'm living at... although I hadn't planned on ending up here it's a pretty good deal for the next couple years.

My hours are reasonably flexible, it's a case of, get the work done. But sometimes they tell me when to start.. and that bugs me, because if they let me do it by my system, I'd do a much better job, but regardless, it's easy. Plus about 20% of my time I'm getting paid to drive from one location to another.. which also means I'm getting paid to go through the drive through and grab some groceries.  ;D

Well...I did the usual around the house today....and tonight we have a break from Vaughn, he's going to his grandma's for the night. Chris and I are going to go to the drive-in to see: Fantastic 4, and Pirates of the Carribean....then we are getting up early in the morning to hit another community yard sale.

cuz you hate it? or cuz you found a new one?

Because Im trying to decide what I want to do.  I haven't found a new job though.  Figured I would work 2 more weeks, get the week off when my parents come out, then figure out what to do after that.  Luckily I have some money saved up to cover rent and car payment for awhile.

I have been with the company for 3 years, so i'll be fully vested with them.  Thats a plus.  On the other hand, I dont like my job and the company has done some things lately that I really haven't agreed with.

thank you back.  The party was a huge success. I counted over 60 people friends & family. Julie was thrilled to have a large group of her friends come over & plenty of her cousins showed up & everyone seemed to have a really good time. I know I did, &  everyone got to eat their fill & take home leftovers. It was a  fun graduation party for Julie and it was a hell of a lot of work, but worth it.

But they are doing something they like doing that I dont care about.  Regardless of them making something, its still something that they do cause they enjoy.  Golfing takes talent as well and they are doing something they enjoy.  It may not be changing the world by creating something through a little ball, but whatever makes someone happy I wont make fun of.

Im sure I get called a nerd by playing World of Warcraft, an MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Roll Playing Game).  Some people may not understand why I play video games, but its what I like doing.  In fact, what am I going to do today?  Play the game of course.

Well, yesterday I signed up for a six-week course in DreamWeaver, an application program that is apparently very useful for job purposes; the class meets at Ventura College on Tuesday nights, and the first session is tonight! It'll be great to know how to use DreamWeaver, so that when I get a job, I will have some useful skills.

Probably the one with meatballs.

I also like to get subs at Quiznos; there's one of those near CSUN too. Ever had anything from there?

I don't have a problem at all with Chris playing golf...I am happy that he found something that he enjoys and is pretty decent at...but it just makes me mad whenever I have to always be at home or work, and it seems like that's all I do...I need to like join a club or get a hobby or something.

That's how it is around here.  Todd hunts, golfs and goes fishing.  The plans are usually already made then he'll ask if it's O.K..  ;D

When I want to go and do something I either have the kids with me or I need to see if Todd is going to be around so he can watch the kids.

For fathers day I took my dad to this place that has mini golf, batting cages, and a place to hit golf balls. So we bought a bucket of balls and just hit the crap out of 'em. We don't play golf, but it was fun trying to hit the targets with golf balls and dad liked it, so I might take him out there again sometime. Now that's love!  :)

Today me and Linz went to look at cars and then I went to a one of my former co-workers visitation at the funeral home. She died of cancer sunday.  :(

Yesterday lunchtime I went to my last union meeting.  We voted in a new branch secretary.  Now I've got to sort out who needs to know her contact details.

in the afternoon I went across to Dai's workplace and met with someone from Global Mobility for us to talk about the relocation package/housing/schools etc.  Hmm the final deal is not sounding quite as good as we were lead to believe.  I'm giving up my job for this.  We asked about training courses to maintain my skills and she mainly waffled on about cookery classes and art groups to 'network'  >:( I can see we will be arguing this one.

Today trying to sort what needs finishing at work in the next six weeks or so and sorting out some things with the estate agent for our house rental.  Also got to fit in food shopping, kids to tennis lessons and donating blood!

It was one of those days.

I was supposed to meet with this guy at 3pm, what I needed would take about 10 minutes, then my day would be done.

He calls at 3:30 and says he's going to be late, I tell him, in no uncertain terms, that he's already let and I'm bloody annoyed that he's pissing around so much and can't even keep a simple 15 minutes appointment with me. I really really chewed him out.. his response was stunning - "Sorry, I'll be there soon as I can." I was stunned, I expected a big row, oh well.

So, annoying that it was about an hour and a half later that I got home than I needed to, but oh well.

I've been busy the last couple of days. all day Thursday & 1/2 day Friday at San Jose State University for student/parent Orientation, & Julie is all set up, has her housing assignment & is very happy that her friend will be her roommate. She registered for her classes and is pleased not to have to heavy a load for her freshman year. We had our friends birthday party here at our place tonight after dinner at Macaroni Grill. I highly recommend the veal marsala. It's really good.  :)

wnet to church, & afterwards went to Costco and bought some beef tri-tip roasts and chicken and have just finished bbq'g it all & am salivating just waiting to eat some. darn friends are running behind schedule. Can you believe that? free bbq dinner and they're gonna be late. that's blasphemous  >:(    I put together a good meal, along with the grilled meats, there's fresh sliced pineapple & strawberries, and rice a roni and grilled zucchinis, the green & the yellow. (Lady Di wanted vegis)  :P    anyways, it's gonna be quite a banquet for just 5 people. The friends are coming over to present a gift of a laptop computer to Julie for college. That's really generous of them.

Went to the big pride festival in the park with some friends.

It was kind of interesting on my way there, there was a major storm that just dropped so much rain, so I'm coming to an intersection and as I'm halfway through it I realize I need to turn there, so I throw the wheel around, not thinking about how slick the road is.

It was the coolest thing ever.. I totally did a power slide around the corner, tons of over-steer and then came through it, just stamped the brake to level up and then pumped the gas.  ;D

Thank f**k there wasn't a cop around or my ass would have been in jail so quick!!  ;D

Just got back from Conn. Yeah, another family gathering-this time to celebrate my niece's graduation from college (who didn't even say two words to me the entire time-not "Hello" or "Good-bye"  >:( ) and my nephew's graduation from H.S. (at least he said "Hello" to me.) Both parents, 3 sisters, 1 brother, 2 other nephews, and 1 other niece were there (and in-laws and maybe future in-laws).  It was nice. My sister put on one hell of a spread-she made most of the food herself and it is REAL GOOD!!! I talked a lot with my oldest nephew-got to know him a bit. We also went out to breakfast with him this morning.

Presumably the angiogram showed something like a narrowed artery.  That's what stents are generally used for I think.  I can't remember now if my dad had one fitted or they decided that it would be better to fit a defibrillator instead.

As I sit here typing, there is an electrician downstairs replacing the light in the kitchen. We had a florescent light that went on the fritz less than a year ago (it didn't want to turn on). We had a guy come in and replace the starter (?) but it started acting up again. We decided to replace it since there were areas of the kitchen that we kind of dark-like over the stove because you are basically standing in your own light. So now, instead of only having one light in the center of the room, we are going to have 2-one over the stove and one over the sink (which is in the center of the room). We were debating whether putting one over the table, too-where we read the morning paper. We will decide that later. Then, next week, we are going to start painting the kitchen.

You are right....he had a 99% blockage :o

I just got back from picking him up and taking him home (he's feeling great, BTW, karma to everyone).  Before that, I took the oldest to the doctor (where we found out his finger is fractured so bye, bye to the final game of the season as well as the All Star games :(), stopped at Dunkin' Donuts to feed the kiddos and dropped some paperwork off at the bank.  In a little while, I think I'm going to go mow the yard or take a nap (probably the latter ;D).  I was up every 2 hours last night checking the littlest one for a concussion (since he banged his head pretty good against another kid's at the game last night) :-\\

I'm glad to hear that your dad is on the mend.  Does that mean your mom can rest a little after she got so worn out at the hospital?  Sorry to hear about the fractured finger---hope he'll be ok.  How is the little one doing....do you think he sustained a concussion?  I'm glad you got the finger taken care of.  Micah did something to her pinky in football, but didn't go to the trainer right away.  By the time she told anyone, I think it was too late--she can now bend her finger out 90 degrees.  Ick.  ::)

Ick.  ::)
Yes, mom was able to rest.  No, I don't think the little one has a concussion because he was able to wake up and answer questions each time I went in to check on him.  I have to take the oldest to an orthopedist tomorrow, but I'm not sure why, there's not much more they can do, just a way for them to get more $$ out of our insurance, I guess ::)

Oh, I just got back from the middle one's baseball game....they won so now they're in the championship on Saturday.....everyone keep your fingers crossed :)

Well...we got back from our 3 day mini trip to Lancaster and Hershey....Vaughn was a terror (I won't go into the sordid details), and it was like 95 degrees all of the days...but other than that, it was a great trip. :D

Good and bad news, I'm so glad your Dad is ok. I remember when my brother got knocked out at school in a basketball game. My mum had to check him every two hours, the second time she went in she got such a stream of abuse from him for waking him up she said she knew there was nothing wrong!  ::)

I'm just a few thousand away from a free trip anywhere (except Australia or Africa - which is fine.  ;D) I've been wanting to go to Moscow for a long time, but it occured to me that the next time I go and take advantage of my half-brother's courteous offer of staying with him whenever I'd like, I'll make the jump from Germany to Russia.

I've wanted to go back to Argentina but I might check out Brazil, either that or go to Japan.. but Brazil is far more appealing.

Took the kids to Chuck E Cheese then we went to Barnes and Noble.  I got a few good (I hope) mysteries.  My husband had to go into work at 7 P.M. and he'll probably have to work until 3 or 4 AM (they installing new menu boards and have to so it after the DQ closes) so I think I'll put the kiddos to bed in a little while and read the rest of the night.

I took my car in for maintenance this morning, then Diane & I went to an early 10:45am matinee and saw Ratatouille. It was fun & I had popcorn for breakfast. Getting ready to leave to go to a poker/birthday party at my friends house for his birthday. He's just finished his chemotherapy for asbestos cancer he contracted from a factory he had worked at for 20 years and is getting a bunch of the old pals together so I'll be leaving soon.

Yeah, my best mate moved to Australia when we were 15 and I've wanted to go see him ever since, we were inseparable as kids.. now we're grown up it'd be interesting to see what it'd be like.... well.. 'supposedly' grown up. If you thought I was a drunken wanker you'd have to meet Marky, he's an absolute twat!  ;D

I'd like to go to Japan simply to see how different it is, which to me, isn't a good enough reason, there's nothing there I desperately want to see.

I've wanted to go to Russia since the first time I ever saw Moscow, I'd have to encourage somebody else to come along though, it's not really a single person trip.. I suppose I could ask my brother, but.. obviously, considering that we really haven't known each other for that long, I don't know if spending a couple of weeks together in a country where we could only talk to each other would be that good of an idea.
