same here, really. I cannot believe how fast this summer is going? When do your kids start school? Vaughn has kindergarten orientation starting August 13th. They go an entire week before the older kids start. He's really excited...and so am I. :D ;D

I had a good afternoon out with my Dad. They had a sale on at the garden centre we went too, it has a gift shop as well. I spent the princely sum of £13.49 and when I got home I added up what I would have spent if I had bought everything full price (a favourite pass time  ;D) It would have cost £57.00 result!  8)

My neighbor across the street took a tumble down the stairs, not bad but very bruised, and she is 65.  I went over to make sure she had what ever she needed, I'll go back later.  Took Jake bowling, and did some food shopping.

I go back on the 20something'th (I really need to find out) which is kind of retarded, it's like 4 days and then a holiday I think.

Oh well, I suppose the idea is to figure out where all your classes are, ensure you have the right books etc.

As a college student, I understand that totally. For the past nine years, I've attended colleges which start the fall semester in the latter part of August so that they have final exams in December a week or two before Christmas, so that in turn, the winter break starts when the semester ends. Makes perfect sense to me.

True, I think I'm done by something like December 15th and don't even have to think about Uni until the 20th of January or something.

Needless to say, I'm buggering off for a month.  ;D

Around here school used to start the Wednesday after Labor Day, and go until about June 20 or so.  The school year is mandated at 180 days, but the teachers union worked out a neat scheme.  It used to be that 5 snow days were added, to allow for school being called for inclement weather.  If they weren't used during the school year, it didn't mean much, 5 extra days.  Well now if they don't use the snow days they don't work the extra days and move up the last day of school to reflect that.  Then, they had it written that 1/2 days would be counted as full days, and there is at least one of those every month.  Then they have what the call "Professional Development Days"  they aren't mandatory and fall at the oddest times, like the Friday before Thanksgiving.  Every Monday is "late start" 9:30. They keep talking of exxtending the school year, but for some reason it seem to be getting shorter.

It should be a good month at Pathmark.This month will make it 4 months that I started Pathmark and I'm feeling great.Now that I've been discharged from my program,I feel like a new man,so rejuvenated and ready to start full time hours.I'll have to talk to my job coach and then in turn,he'll talk to my supervisor which he has a relationship with.

Damn, missed it again.. I just totallly forgot this month had changed. Ah well.

I've always started before Labor Day so it's perfectly normal to me.  We also get out much earlier than you do for the summer, though.  I may start earlier, but I also was done the first week of May, where, if memory serves, you were still in school until the first week of June or somewhere around there.  My kids have 1 1/2 weeks of school before Labor Day and should get out around the 27th of May if there are no snow days.

I also ordered my books online yesterday.  I only have 8 books this semester and got most of them online at half.com, and got some brand new for a little less than 1/2 price....I got one for $25 (brand new) and the school wanted $45 (used) :o  There was only 1 book that I found cheaper at the bookstore and that was only because it's published by the university.

RIght now I am feeling wet! Vaughn and I just had a water balloon battle, and I lost!  We went to a local rummage sale a bit ago...now I am just relaxing until I have to go to work.

oh man...I'm obsessed with that stuff. I keep 2 bottles of it with me at work...and I use it all the time at home. (from the old thread)

Hubby has a friend whose wife is also obsessive about this stuff....we went to lunch with them and she pulls out her bottle of the stuff and makes all of the kids clean their hands, THEN pulls out a can of Lysol wipes and proceeds to wipe down all of the seats, the table, the silverware, and the glasses (which she made everyone drink out of straws so they didn't actually "touch" the glass....when one of her girls picked up the glass - that she had already wiped down - she made her clean her hands again).  I've also seen her pull out the wipes when going into a store and using the wipe to open the door and god forbid her kids touch something like a railing. ::)  IMO, that's a little bit overboard....

Bit of overkill. I've never been obsessed like that, and I'm healthy. I mean, I'll do the handwashing bit after using the toilet and handling raw foods, but other than that...

And I never sanitized Jason or the cart seats at stores and he's healthy.

We just got back from our first overnighter on the boat of the season and man, it was exhausting. Yesterday was so hot and humid and NO WIND. I was fine but Carlos was outside in the sun and it really drained him. He didn't even want to cook last night so we just had sandwiches. We did do a little fishing but not even nibbles. Jumped into the lake because I was so hot. Carlos doesn't really like to swim so he just pulled up some water in a bucket and dumped it over himself. Didn't sleep too well last night. serenaded by a bullfrrog and then the wind kicked up. This morning, we had one cup of tea/coffee and then headed home. He already took a shower which I need to do but I am so tired. I'm sure I will feel better after I get out of the shower.

All in all...a bit less than five hours.  I should be ready to go to sleep now, but for some reason, I find myself on this message board...

Off to the seaside this evening Yay!! Even if i do have to spend the day with my sister tomorrow!  ;D I'm off to buy stuff for a picnic at lunchtime.

I guess we know now than we used to know back then.

Got my car fixed yesterday, for the brakes: the rear brakes just needed to be lubricated and adjusted. The little part I cut off on a power steering fluid line and replaced with rubber hose (like the auto parts store recommended) because it was rusted out and leaking was fine they said. I thought I was gonna get out of there just paying 25 bucks... However they said I had a bad wheel bearing which I guess would explain why the car seemed so loud while driving, so I decided to have that replaced, it is a lot smoother and quieter now. The brake pedal is no longer too soft like before, so everything looks good.

I love the seaside, have a nice time.  I, on the otherhand am eagerly awaiting my 9am mammogram   ::)

Ironically, piss is the LEAST of your worries in a bathroom....urine is sterile ;)

We are having my niece and nephews sleep over tonight and we are taking them to the Hard Rock Cafe.  They went to Washington DC with my in-laws about a month ago, and went to the Hard Rock there and just LOVED it.  Our entire family is really into the Beatles so they especially loved the Beatles wall.  We're hoping to get a table next to it tonight.

My nephew, who is 9 plays the guitar and is REALLY good.  His brother, who is 12 recently took it up, and my 7 year old niece is learning the drums.  They all did a little performance for us last weekend at my in-laws house and it was fantastic.  I am going to go find a picture and post it...

We are having my niece and nephews sleep over tonight and we are taking them to the Hard Rock Cafe.  They went to Washington DC with my in-laws about a month ago, and went to the Hard Rock there and just LOVED it.  Our entire family is really into the Beatles so they especially loved the Beatles wall.  We're hoping to get a table next to it tonight.

He's a great director and writer, but because his back catalouge is hard to find in shops.. I just find it very difficult to spend $25 on a film.. and! pay exorbitantly high shipping costs as well, but I suppose it's worth it..

Of course, not much can brighten your day or week when the doctor tells you it's too late for back surgery since f**king Workman's Comp. never approved it, CalPers refuses to pay you the money owed, your lawyer won't do a damned lick of work, and then some idiot causes you to t-bone his car because they don't know how to drive. So now my pops is laid up at home in even worse shape, and with no truck, since it was totalled.

Talked to my sister last night to narrow down our plans for this coming weekend. After their visit, we are all going to go down to my mother's for a short visit. (It is so much easier on us when we visit my mother together-long story.) We called my mother (3-way calling) to ask her what she was doing on the 13th. She said that she was getting ready to go someplace on the 18th.  :o :o  My sister & I just laughed because it takes her that long to get ready for something-and it isn't even at her house. My sister said that it is an "old person thing". She said that her FIL & our grandmother are the same way. It takes them days to get ready for a doctor's appointment. I sent my sister an email this morning to remind her that she only has about 6 days to get ready for our trip.  :D :D ;D ;D ;D

Tired, aggravated, and frustrated. The past two days I've been building a wheelchair ramp at my mother's
house. My wife, daughter, son and grandson have been helping. I am not a carpenter so I am building this
on a wing and a prayer, having the help I have is hindering the process. It seems that I am getting nothing
accomplished. Two 12 hour days and all I have up is a 6' X 10' deck, stairs on the side and one section of
ramp. I still have 25' of ramp and a railing for the whole thing still to put up. at this rate it will take me a month
to finish.

Have you recently changed your caffeine intake or sleeping patterns? I used to get totally drained like this all the time.. sometimes it's just a thing that has to pass, other times it has to do with how much you're drinking.. I cut out caffeinated soda for a while one time and I felt dead by the end of the day all the time.

I'm working today from 1030-3 and there might be a chance of on and off showers and thunderstorms.

At home sorting out what furniture etc is going to be shipped this week, what will go by air next week and what we will pack to take ourselves.  It's starting to feel a bit more real now!

We found a house to rent in Glastonbury last week and we are just sorting out the final paperwork to do with that.  We hope to move in on September 1st.

I had a pretty good day at Pathmark except for 1 thing that happened to me.As I was doing the cart collecting,some pigeons distracted my attention and I didn't see this yellow pole headed towards me and I banged my head right into it,luckily for me,I wasn't bleeding just a small red bump but it seems to be going away slowly.Thank God for a quick healing process.

Unlike others we know of, when I say I'm down, I mean exactly that.

Would your doctor let you come in sooner?  That's a long wait, but then again that's probably a good sign.

beautiful day today. all i did was download music and post.  i'm going out in the evening to garden. 
i was going to go to the bluegrass festival a few miles away, but my friend is on the way back on the bus and asked me to wait for her.

I slept in until 1130am today.  :o  got up and had some leftover deep dish pizza and coffee for breakfast and am now helping Lady Di clean house for her little birthday party tomorrow and also doing some yardwork. feeling decent, the weather is beautiful, a good day for a tall glass of iced tea and some classic rock cranked up on the stereo

Just had a nice conversation with 2 of my sisters (the one who was supposed to come up and one who's birthday is tomorrow). The three of us must have been on the phone for at least 2 hours.  ;D ;D ;D  I just love my sisters.

Have you tried stretching much? If you have it in your wrists, pulling your fingers back regularly has helped my wrist pains...

Today, I'm taking it easy because I overdid it yesterday between shopping in the morning, then seeing "Bourne Ultimatum" in the afternoon, then going to dinner right after......needless to say, I didn't sleep well last night, either :-\\

We went to a brunch buffet that I have been in the mood for for WEEKS. When we got there, they didn't have the buffet.  :\'( :\'( :\'(  They said that they didn't get too much traffic for it during the summer so they are going to start it back up in the fall. My band is taking a new direction... going for a harder sound, less progressive. We're also getting a bass player and possibly another guitarist. I'm switching to exclusively vocals, too. I'm really excited for the new project.

Going to Virginia for a couple of days.  Plan to just chill.  We will visit the battlefield at Petersburg, where two ancestors fought before marching into Richmond, then spend some time on the beach at Virginia Beach.

Well, Dom, it's in my legs and feet, due to being born with arguably the most severe case of bilateral clubfeet in the US, to date. (See my bio)
It seems on some days, that stretching is all I do. Not having thicker Achilles tendons, I have to be careful.
Due to the tendon splicing/grafting they did on me as a baby, mine are around 1/4 as thick as normal, and always pretty tight.

On the good side, I have my band's website up.

We shipped most of our furniture off last week. It is scheduled to arrive in New York on August 29th.  Then it will sit in the customs shed till they can be bothered to check it out!  At the moment we have two old easy chairs and a small sofa in the lounge, the kitchen table and chairs, one wardrobe, one bed and two air beds!  Also we have a very small sub-set of pans for cooking - it makes trying to do anything vaguely exotic entertaining because I have one flat baking tray and nothing else that can go in the oven!

We sent the paperwork back for the lease on our house in Glastonbury, CT today and hope to move in on 1st September.  They are coming to take the last of our things this coming Thursday and we will move into a hotel here for a few days till we fly out. Still haven't finalised our flights yet.  I am supposed to have a health check-up before going but the doctor cancelled it because he was too busy!

Well, I picked up Vaughn from the bus stop. He had a good day at school...he was covered from head to toe with yellow paint (he informed me that they were painting little wooden bees today ;D). He was so crabby though, and so exhausted (he's not used to THIS much activity during the day)...that he came home and crashed on the couch!! :D

Tomorrow's my birthday. I'm not freaking looking forward to it. I'm going to be 20, might as well dig a hole and bury myself. I'm also moving in 3 days, and I have one day of work left (Which.. really isn't a work day at all, being that it's an overnight, and I do nothing during those..).

As a side note, I love Bradley Hathaway so much. So much.

Every summer for the past four years I have been involved with young adult activities which are church-related. And in the middle of August, they have a celebration and picnic at a location around the Los Angeles area, where we get to meet other young adults. This year, the celebration was at a place just north of the USC campus, in downtown L.A. Anyhoo, among the activities was a "bingo"-type game, with a 5X5 grid; each box had a different thing in it (example: "Drives a foreign car", "Has visited 3 or more California missions", "Has attended World Youth Day", etc.), and we had to go around and ask the various people if any one of the 25 descriptions applied to them, and if so, they'd write their name in one box. (You could not sign more than one box on another person's sheet of paper.) Anyways, I met this one girl (who I found out was from Long Beach) who said she had a summer birthday, so she signed the box that corresponded to that, and I said to her, "Me too!" Turns out, she shares a birthday with me; only difference is, she's four years younger than me. So after we found out that we shared a birthday, I gave her a big hug and then signed my name in the same box on her bingo card. Before she left, I gave her my contact info and she gave me her email; I said to her: "Now you'll never forget when my birthday is." :D

I had lots of fun yesterday, meeting other people close in age to me. They all seemed real nice. This was my fourth straight year attending this event.

Beautiful day today.I have some good news.My Mother's starting a nursery school in September for kids with disabilities.The children's ages run from 2-5.She retired from the Board Of Ed this past July after 15 years.Next week she has to get fingerprinted and get a TB shot.

Today, the kids went to the lake with their daddy, so I've got the house to myself.  I plan on listing a few comics on eBay, I've got to make some money to fund my husband's new habit...Antique Duck Decoy collecting, they're much more expensive than comics.  ;D  I've got to get Megan's clothes ready for tomorrow.  Hopefully I'll get some cleaning done too.

She's in 1st Grade now, and excited about it.

Melissa is returning to college, to get her Real Estate license.
This will allow her to get better positions with her career.

I just got the crap scared out of me because I heard this horrible banging sound and couldn't figure out where it was coming from.  Finally figured out it's the roofers replacing the shingles we seem to keep losing......guess hubby forgot to tell me that ::)

Well, I was up at 6 to get ready to take Megan to school.

She got up with out any trouble and got dressed and looked adorable in her new outfit. 

I drove her to school, worrying the entire time that she was going to cry.  She didn't, I did.   ;D

So now every 5 minutes Hunter asks "Where's Megan?".  Poor little guy misses his sister.   :(

I think she's gonna be grooving  8)

thanks, it was the best day & Diane enjoyed every minute of today. I would be happy to make you and anyone else breakfast if i could Gis. todays breakfast/brunch was so good, the girls here were loving it.  I enjoy eating and I like to cook, & I love it when the people
who eat what I cooked rave about it. seeing their delight and pleasure is all I want.

...so Jersey Boys was the most excellent musical I think I have ever seen. just a note for anyone interested in going to see it.
Jersey Boys may be inappropriate for children aged 12 and under (strong language).  I highly recommend this show to any & all fans of The Four Seasons, & even if you're not a fan, you may like it. The musical is a history lesson about the group, done with music & drama. The show takes you to their beginning, from the many name changes the band had, & the auditions of new band members to eventually becoming The Four Seasons with the 4 main guys. They told of inspirations that led to the composing of many of their #1 hits, & they also showed they dark & ugly side of each members life, what they went through. There are some very sad moments dealing with crime, jail, debt, divorce, questions about the bands leadership & direction, but there was more laughter & joy too and the music is exhilirating. Why, even elderly people were giving them a standing ovation, I'm talking old, 70's & 80's here but I guess in the 50's/60's decades these old people were in their 30's & 40's, not so old then and they remember this band well. go see it if you have the chance. it's worth every penny  8)

on the way home from the show, we stopped at a seafood restaurant in Berkeley called Spengers, a famous place that has been there forever, & Diane got halibut cheeks  :o  and Julie & I got fish and chips with a cup of good clam chowder. the fish & chips was really good, I totally doused mine with malt vinegar, lemon and salt. so all in all, Diane's birthday was special, and tomorrow we'll go back to our normal routine.

I haven't tried F&C with peas, onion as it is probably not the style here. and the blueberries are one of Diane's favorites. personally, I'll eat them but I prefer other fruit but if they're high in anti-oxidants, then that's a good thing, yanno we gotta put the smack down on those free radicals  ;D

the Four Seasons songs you mentioned were all sung wonderfully and so were many many more. the show was a solid 2 hours. You'd love it.

Now just chilling on the computer

Well we are back from Virginia Beach, and a wonderful time was had by all.  First we went to two battlefields, Pamplin Farm and Petersburg,  they were good.  We drove from Petersburg to Virginia Beach and let me tell you, that beach is a blast! The water had to be about 85degrees and the waves were great, I haven't had that much fun in the surf since I was about ten, bobbing up and down like a bouy let loose  ;D .  We stayed in a hotel right on the beach and I parked myself like a beached whale, going from the water to the ice cream stand, back and forth, back and forth.....  :D

Not so much something I have to do today, but I will have to do it before the end of the month....

I'm going to have to cancel my home internet service....

For two reasons:

1. The computer, which is my sister's and brother in law's, has a PITA spyware program in it(I recently found out that it was in there before I even got the internet, it didn't act up until last month). Someone my dad knows put in a program that is blocking it, but it still tries to come through and is somehow still affecting the computer, although I am able to at least use the internet now. But it's still causing problems here and there.(Note, I'm at a library at the moment) I have no way to take care of it.(I lack a backup of the programs that are needed to use it, so I can't wipe out the computer and reload)


2. I'm finding it to be too difficult to afford the internet service while my mom is living with me. I have very little money by the end of the week and am under too much financial stress to afford it.



Luckily, I can still use it at the library.

I am all dressed up, even have a tie on, because we're leaving in a few minutes to go to Diane's cousin's wedding in Oakland, and then a banquet style reception in Chinatown. I can't wait to get some of that food  :)  anyways, I hate dressing up, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do. Lady Di's cousin doesn't look much older than Julie.  :o  I'll be around later tonight. I wish a good Saturday on everybody

I am totally exhausted. Helped my step-daughter/step-son/granddaughter move today. They moved from an apartment on the 3rd floor (all those stairs loading up the truck-YUCK) to a BEAUTIFUL house. They are only going to be there a year because the people who own the house are going to be in Spain for the year. But they left the house totally furnished, complete with dishes, sheets/blankets, toys for my granddaughter, TWO pianos, a computer, CDs/DVDS, even some food, etc. etc. I'm sure they won't want to leave the house in a year.

My knees are killing me for climbing all those stairs several hundred times (at least it feels like that how many times I climbed them).

...well, our car is loaded up and we're getting ready to leave in a few min to take Julie's stuff to the dorm at San Jose State College. she's actually not moving in to live until Tuesday, but we're setting all her stuff today. wow, it's one of those heart achy/happy times where my feeling go up & down between beiing happy to see her grow up and be on her own, and being sad that she'll be gone quite a bit. oh well, that is life.

I know you can Erin as I read your posts about Beth. we can cry together  ;D  she's gonna be an hour & a 1/2 away. San Jose is about 75 miles so she'll come home for weekends often I think.

Just got back from visiting a friend in Dorset. We had a fantastic time despite the weather which was horrible. We haven't seen each other for 13 years so it was great to catch up. We talked so much I started to loose my voice!  ;D

This weekend has proven to be one of contemplation.

-Teela is now in 1st Grade, and will be attending full-day schedule.

-Melissa is now enrolled in College again, and will be shifting her schedule around.

-Two of my most faithful karaoke clients have passed away, within 2 months of each other, and I wasn't told about it until their funerals had occurred.

-For the 1st time, I will be entering a competition without the benefit of a "moral support" section.

-I am having to face the realization that I need to start taking medication again, and I have problems accepting that.

It's been a good day :)

Still feeling like really blech.  It's not like it's a cold or the doldrums, but it's more like no energy and I just don't feel right (something physical that I just can't pinpoint)...

I'm also trying to find a beach house in Florida to rent for our December vacation.

Yeah, we'll be back in mid-December after we figure out what we're going to do with the mutt. He's so little and skittish that I don't think he'd survive a flight, even if I did take him in the cabin with us.

And man, I really wish I hadn't screwed up my high school years so I could have gone to a proper college. The experience of being on your own for the first time and learning all kinds of different things sounds wonderful. I had to settle for a couple of courses at the JC during my senior year of high school and for a year after that. I never did figure out what I wanted to do, although I think I know now. I'm so fickle.

I've never been comfortable with that, because I've seen what happens when it's done incorrectly.
The main reason for me doing this, is so I'm more rational around my daughter.

Absolutely! In fact, yesterday I drove my mom home from church. All the way from Simi Valley to Oxnard...a good 27 miles or so. And I didn't even take the freeway. I'm not ready to drive freeways yet, although I did drive on the freeway portion of Highway 1---Pacific Coast Highway---a week ago.

Holy crap, orientation's boring. Holy crap, the people I'm orientationing with are friggin' boring. I can't wait until this week is over. On a lighter note, my apartment's looking pretty awesome right about now.

I am pretty much feeling like crap. I have a horrible sinus infection, my stomach ulcer is acting up majorly..and it is that horrible time of the month...man, can it get much worse? :-\\

Saturday night I was out with friends and came over with this crazy sinus pain and headache and the shoulders were aching...so i went home and took a cocktail of tums, beer, vitamin C and NyQuil.

Out like a a light and still feeling great. 

Well we are back from Virginia Beach, and a wonderful time was had by all.  First we went to two battlefields, Pamplin Farm and Petersburg,  they were good.  We drove from Petersburg to Virginia Beach and let me tell you, that beach is a blast! The water had to be about 85degrees and the waves were great, I haven't had that much fun in the surf since I was about ten, bobbing up and down like a bouy let loose  ;D .  We stayed in a hotel right on the beach and I parked myself like a beached whale, going from the water to the ice cream stand, back and forth, back and forth.....  :D

Hehe.... I don't have my own car yet. I have basically been driving my parents' 1992 Toyota Camry, which is almost 16 years old and has almost 264,000 miles on it. It still runs quite well; that's because we've been keeping it properly maintained regularly. And no, I do not intend to get a fuzzy set of dice. ;D

When he came in from outside before the peeing and pooping he kept looking at his foot and rear-end.  I thought he may have been bitten by something so I looked for blood, but there wasn't any.  I went outside and I did see some bees flying in the yard, so I think he was bitten by a bee or bees.  He seems to be doing OK now.

Oh. See what happens until tomorrow. If it's still going on then, take him to the vet.

so Julie is officially in college as we dropped her off at her dorm today, after making sure her cable tv, internet, and other necessaties were all functioning. On the way home from San Jose, Diane & me went to see The Bourne Ultimatum in Walnut Creek (Hot-Stuff's former town) and it was great, and then we needed some comfort food so next door was a Johnny Rockets hamburger joint and we got fries, cheeseburgers and the best damn chocolate milkshake I ever had.    so I wonder if Julie misses us  :\'(

Oy... on the way to a concert yesterday, wet roads and a brake-slam caused by a yellow light combined to put me in a bit of a collision with another car.

Neither car was damaged beyond a slight dent in the plastic piece where a vanity plate might go on the front of my car, but we traded information... I daresay nothing's really gonna be needed, but my dad's pissed.

Today, I get to go to school to register for my final teaching class (well, the last one I have to register for this semester) and set up hospice services for my mom :\'(

Probably not, the only ones the bookstore had were new so I'd imagine they changed the books for this semester (but I was able to find one on half.com for about 1/4 of what they wanted at the bookstore ;))

Carlos use to try to use books that weren't too expensive. He knows how it is like to be a struggling student so he try to make it easy-including telling his students that they could probably get their books cheaper on Amazon than at the bookstore. And there was one class that everything was in the library and another where everything was handouts so the students didn't have to buy any books.

Too much shtuff happening, and people not being able to comprehend a simple measure of courtesy.
Meaning- my wife & mother don't understand why I don't want to ask Mom to babysit my daughter, while I'm in competition tonight, and Melissa's at night class.

Thinking about ditching the singing competition altogether.
Waste of $10, but hey. Who cares?

My friend used to do a bulk order for her students via Amazon using her college account and they then paid her back...........not sure that was allowed but who was to know!

Today is work and returning the favour from my Dad yesterday by going to pay his credit card bill so he doesn't have to call into town to do it himself.

Thank you. He needs all the well wishes he can get. Surgery is no longer an option to correct his problem because Workman's Compensation made sure they never approved it and it has been five years. Too late now....all they can do is pain management. And the car accident certainly didn't help things any. :-\\
