Subject: In case you are wondering... upgrading inthe00s to the new software

Written By: ChuckyG on 08/27/07 at 9:44 pm

I won't be upgrading inthe00s for quite some time.  The new beta version of the software is still a long ways from acceptable for a site of this size.  Lots of little bugs (nothing serious mind you) which would suck up my time chasing down, only to get patched in the next version.

More importantly, there's stuff like the arcade, the karmalog, the frontpage, the archives, and the medals that are stuff that are custom additions and will need modification by either me or the person who wrote them.  That's probably the largest stumbling block towards even considering the new version of the software.

it sounds like you need a team of assistants to help you ChuckyG.

well, I dug into the software a little deeper last night, and it probably won't be all that bad.  It's still going to be a few weeks of work to get them converted into the new format.  Plus I know there will be several beta releases before the final release of the new software, so each time all the changes will need to get made over and over again.  So the longer I delay writing it, the less work I have to do.

Not for a while Howard.
Everything will remain as it is until the Beta is fully tested! ;)

It has been a few weeks since the upgrade and reporting from the UK all looks to be perfect.
