OMG, it's already time for the March thread  :o  gee willikers! that month went by quick. way to get the thread going Jeff.

I'm gonna get up and make me some coffee on March 1st, 2008, and then head over to the church to help set up and then take Julie's car in for an oil change and maybe a minor tune up, then come back and help Diane finish getting our home ready for a small birthday gathering. the dessert she made is gonna be awesome. It's a chocolate chip cookie dough cooked in a rectangular pan, so it's thick like brownies, then we're gonna warm up a piece, add a scoop of vanilla ice cream, some hot fudge and whipped cream and I'm gonna put a lit candle on mine

March is here and looking forward to my birthday,maybe it'll be a quiet one.I was hoping to spend time with that special someone but this is the first time without her.I just have a gut feeling she'll call on my birthday,I may be wrong you know. :(

I wished Dai happy St David's Day.  This reminded him it was the first of the month and he went to do 'pinch, punch'.  It occurred to Elizabeth and I at the same time what he intended and we got him first!

We are going skiing again today.  We had a small amount of snow overnight - supposed to be between 4 and 8 inches and we had about 2!

Today consisted of a drive and a hort for me and my foot. The afternoon was spent resting, but it feels no better, though the doctor did say yesterday for it could be a few weeks.

I have spent today working like a dog! I did laundry, food shopping, vacuuming, cleaned the bathroom, changed the bed, finished tidying the back garden and made myself a aubergine(egg plant) bake. Now I'm chilling in front of the T.V.

Tomorrow is mother's day so I am going to my parents house for lunch. :)

after my morning church set up, I took Julie's car in for an oil change and to rotate the tires, good thing I was keeping an eye on things because the mechanic didn't rotate tires, came up to me and said "your car's ready"  & I said, I'm supposed to get a rotation also, so he did that and it all only cost $33.20 not bad at all. of course the dude tried to say if i didn't get the "engine flush" that my motor could freeze up  :o  and I tell him, "no thanks, just the oil change today" some places really try to get you to agree to add services like that and that would have been an extra $60. no eff'ng way!  so afterwards I went to a cute toy shop in Orinda, Ca. to get our friends daughter a birthday present especially from me because they say after the last time we were there she keeps saying my name  :\'( and that's so cute, so I got her a stuffed Big Bird from Sesame Street  http://rds.yahoo.com/_ylt=A0S020xZ28lHJT8AV12jzbkF/SIG=12m3lnep6/EXP=1204497625/**http%3A//www.playfulplushtoys.com/miva/graphics/00000001/bigbird.jpg

YAY! It's March...that means it is getting closer to spring and summer!


Today was a good day. I stopped and bought myself a new digital camera that I saw on sale..then we went bowling with my parents early this afternoon. After that we did some shopping (CD Warehouse, Dicks Sporting Goods), then we went to Lowe's to price the wood that we will need for our new porch that we are building this summer. After we finished shopping, we went out for pizza.

March is coming in like a lamb for us this weekend.  Today was a balmy 34 degrees Farenheit (1 degree Celcius) and tomorrow a tropical (at least for us this time of year) 52 degrees farenheit (11 degrees celcius).  It's been so cold for so long, I'm really happy to see the warm(er) weather again.  :)

Just got back from my parents thanks to Dad's taxi ! Had a lovely lunch and spent the afternoon reading the papers with my Mum. Himself is on his way home from visiting his parents.

Sorry, Henk, you would have been more than welcome to ours!  :)  I for one am tired of it and I heard we are expecting more bad weather tonight/tomorrow.

Yesterday took the car in at 7:30 a.m. for new brakes, walked 8 blocks back to my apt, shoveled the front walk, did dishes, walked to post office and back, then walked the 8 blocks to get the car (which sounds great) and started cleaning up the kitchen (really cleaning).  Couldn't sleep last night/this morning, so started working on organizing cupboards.

Today, after just a few hours sleep, got another cupboard cleaned, finished cleaning the kitchen, got the bathroom cleaned (including organizing my shelf), got my bedroom cleaned and receipts filed, waiting for M to finish her room so she can help me with family room.

The great news is that I've got our trip to Cedar Crest College lined up during her spring break.  We'll leave about 4 a.m. on April 1st, check in to a hotel that night, then be there Wed for appts, tour, etc.  Her admissions counselor (Kyle) has been absolutely marvelous, lining up appointments with departments and faculty, changing her major, and arranging for her to spend Wed night on campus with a Chem/Forensic Science student.  She is changing from CJ/Forensic Science to Genetics/Forensic Science.  Kyle is setting it up so Micah can meet with faculty from Genetics, Forensic Science, Political Science and CJ.  She is also going to meet with the AD and the leader of the Debate team.  Of course we will also meet with Kyle and with the financial aid person to see what kind of package they were able to put together for her and do a campus tour.   :)

Sometimes I envy you people...we're always missing out on all the fun. So far, we've had no snow this winter. Well, winter...more like spring.

Don't get me wrong: I don't think getting multiple inches of snow (with blizzards and the like) is fun (although I don't know what it's like at all)...I just would like to get some of the action. :(

Remember she treated you badly, dumped you, took you back and treated you badly. Is that really the pattern you want for the rest of your life? You will get over her in time, but it will take a while.

This month was not an easy start for me. On Saturday I was absolutely shattered so I literally stayed in all day. I was also annoyed that morning because I saw that another resident had opened my milk and cereal and I suggested that they be replaced.

Yesterday I went to the gym and when I arrived the receptionist warned me that there was no hot water in the showers, so I had to take a shower when I got home. At home I frantically pressed the buzzer at the gates some three times, but there was no reply until a member of staff from the Downstairs Unit responded. When I went upstairs, I noticed that none of the three upstairs staff on duty were in the office; they were all in the kitchen preparing Sunday lunch! The good thing was that the staff had replaced my milk and cereal. After lunch, I tried to ring my mum to wish her a Happy Mother's Day, but she didn't answer. It turned out that she was out for the day and in the afternoon she phoned me from her mobile. I also continued with my painting of my dad's and sister's dog and I felt that I made a bit of a mess of it. Painting is hard work, especially when I have to paint a lot of detail. I phoned my mum again in the evening. That night, I was reading my new book called Broken, which is about child abuse. After reading it I began to feel anxious as I lay in my bed thinking about the difficult times at home involving my parents hitting me and giving me threats as well as hard times at my care home. I texted my parents to tell them that I was still thinking of the hard times they'd given me.

This morning just after 8am, I heard a knock on my door. I answered the door and it was my Key Worker Linda. She advised me that my dad phoned and he was worried that there was a lot of noise last night when, in fact, there was hardly any at all. I soon realised that my dad had misunderstood the text and I sent him another one. I was also supposed to be going to Radio Drama this morning but I didn't go because there's a lot going on outside my house right now and it made me anxious. There was a man cleaning the windows as well as the construction work taking place outside.

The best is yet to come, including my family visit over Easter.

This morning I am going to Vaughn's school to see their program they are putting on, celebrating reading and Dr. Seuss. It is really warm out today...around 60, but too bad it's not going to stay that way.

It's ugly and rainy outside, so me and the boy will stay inside and work on stuff. Then I'll research Amtrak travel some more.

Have a chiropractor appointment and then have to take the kitty in because she has earmites.  :\'( :\'( :\'(


Unfortunately, this is not going to be easy. When I called the vet, I was hoping that we could just pick up stuff to put her her ears but naturally, they want to see her-since she has never had earmites before. The chiropractor and the vet are literally across the street from each other-so I thought it would be easy to get both appointments close. BUT NOOOOOOOOOOO! The chiropractor is at 1:30 and the vet is at 3. Well, since the vet couldn't squeeze us in at 1:30, I thought maybe the chiropractor could get us in at 3. No such luck-he won't even be there at 3. So, it looks like two trips. And I KNOW the vet is going to look at her and say, "Yup, earmites". No s**t. I have had cats long enough to know what earmites look like and how cats react to them.  ::)  But, through all that, we do have GREAT vets (yes, more than one)

Well...I went to the program this morning..it was really cute, however...Vaughn (being the shy and awkward kid that he is) was the only one who did not sport the cat in the hat's hat and whiskers. He's so darn fussy. Otherwise, it was real cute.

Elvira does not have earmites-but she does have a yeast infection. And I have mega cathair all over my shirt, jacket, etc.

Good question. Both make her itch and both needs to put stuff in her ears to get rid of it but at least with the yeast infection, unlike the earmites, it NOT contagious so I don't have to worry about Electra getting it.

So Sig is working on a building downtown and a young couple staying in the building and got a bit mixed up and ended up on the freight elevator so he showed them how to get where they were going and chit chatted a bit.  When he left them one of the guys wanted to know what they talked about, and Sig said nothing much and asked why.  Well, it seem it was Matthew McConaughey, Sig being himself has no idea who he is, but said he was a nice guy except he doesn't understand why he is such a heartthrob because "he is real scrawny"  ;D

We will decide after reviewing the financial aid offer (by the time we go, she should have heard from LUC, her first choice), but I thought it was important that she visit the campus and get a feel for things just in case.  Thank you for all your kind wishes, Mike.   :)

Hey all!  I've been trying to get on for ages!  (Just ask Gis!)  We moved into a new house in Riverton Utah at the end of January, and we are loving it!  Riiverton is about 20 minutes south of Salt Lake.  We got a dog, and at the moment he is trying to get me off the computer!  He is used to having all of my attention.  Anyway, I have really missed you guys and the site!  I can't wait to dive back in and see how everyone is doing.

you're welcome and cool deal with the discount. I enjoyed going to different schools and getting treated special & checking out their facilities & staff & I'm so glad Julie ended up wanting to go to SJSU, only 1 hour and 5 min away from home, and just 35 minutes from my work. I just came home from her dorm, as she forgot her laptop power cord so it was nice to see her on a Monday.  

So tonight I had one of those heartfelt moments I get once in a while. Old memories & strong feelings of love& pride kind of overwhelmed me as I watched Julie walk back to her dorm. How true that is. I feel like I'm closer to my parents than ever before (we used to fight like cats and dogs), and it kills me that we only get to see them for a limited amount of time. :\'( I know they love and miss us all, and I know they're hurting because they can't see their only grandchild all the time like before, but none of us could really afford more than a visit here or there. Now that my dad is finally getting the money he DESERVES, that will change. If all goes according to plan, I'll have two months in California to just hang and enjoy my old life. :)

Today I have a doctor's appointment. Just a general physical, but I'm not looking forward to it because I know any complaints I have will be attributed to me being overweight. Yes, I know some ailments are caused by obesity, but I just wish they wouldn't dismiss it all as THAT.

Well, today I had a rather "interesting" morning (for lack of a better word). When I got to the train station I saw that a freight train was parked on the tracks...and I was trying to figure out why. I found out, from word-of-mouth, that the commuter train that just left the station had hit a semi truck on the tracks. :o So that delayed the train I was waiting for. That sortof explained why the freight train was parked on the track by the platform...but I didn't see why it couldn't have used the adjacent track. So the solution was to drive to the Moorpark station, where several outgoing trains originate. At 8:00, in Moorpark, I got on the train that was coming in from downtown LA; it left Moorpark station 5 minutes later...and I got to Northridge at about 8:30...and to campus at 8:50 (after waiting ten minutes for the shuttle). I seriously hope no one was injured in that train wreck in Oxnard.

Well, first I called the doc today because I still have this bug. Then we went to vote. After, we took a trip to the doc's office to pick up more meds (hopefully this time it will end this once and for all). We also went to the grocery store. Later I have a dentist appointment  8-P and all the time I feel like s**t.

Instead of 10-2  they asked me if I could stay an hour later.2 cart collectors were absent today so me and the new guy were the fillers for the day.Other than that,the day was somewhat miserable because of light rain.

Well today has been a long day for us. Vaughn had a dental surgery this morning. He has this condition where his teeth can decay quicker than the average person (even though he brushes ALL the time and doesn't eat sugary stuff hardly at all). Well the poor kid had to get 2 silver crowns.....so now, they are visible...and I feel so bad. :( It makes me want to cry. I know he needs them, but I don't want him to get teased or anything at school...I know how horrible some children can be. My heart hurts right now. Today, I was able to really be his mother. The poor thing (from the anesthetics) was throwing up in the backseat, and all I could do was hold him the whole time (in the meantime I was dry heaving, because I have a very weak stomach..and the sight of puke and other stuff just grosses me out). I just hope that he won't need anymore...Vaughn just wouldn't look good with a grill. :-\\

It's been a long day but I have just had a long conversation on the phone with my sister and got a few things sorted, Mum had got the wrong end of the stick as ever! ::) (long story) So in a nutshell I have to go and look after my sister in two weeks as she is having surgery over her birthday. Doctor's appt. for me went really well. She was very sweet and listened to what I had to say. The suck thing is though that my blood pressure was really really high, so they put me back on meds for it. I also had a lot of bloodwork done because she wants to make sure I'm truly healthy. I love doctors who actually listen and don't talk down to you. :)

I think they're more caring and stuff because they're still in residency, and the health care center that we go to is a part of the University. It is just exceptionally well run, and I'm really liking it, unlike the buttpirate doctor I had in Indiana. ::)

So I came home yesterday and there was this bonfire out back, I figured it was just somebody burning garden rubbish. I got up this morning and there's a damn great JCB digger on the waste land behind our house  :o not sure how I managed to miss that one!  ;D  The guy who owns the land does have planning permission to build houses but at the moment they are only laying a road apparently. Something to do with the fact he doesn't actually own *all* of the land he was planning to build on.  ::)

My son is driving me round the twist! We missed the school bus again this morning.  >:(

I put out his clothes this morning while he was washing, told him to get dressed as he went into his bedroom and expected him to do it whilst I got myself ready.  Call to him to see how far he's got when I'd finished washing and he had managed to get his pyjama bottoms off.  I told him to hurry up and get dressed, got myself dressed and went into his room.  He was sat there with his undies half on playing with some toy or other.

Change of plan.  No more nice mummy letting him stay up to watch tv.  In bed by 8 tonight and I will get him up when my alarm goes off so I can supervise him completely.  That'll teach the bugger!


Teacher's conference this afternoon with Elizabeth's teacher.  He describes her as hard-working, self-motivated, conscientious responsible student with a keen, active insightful mind.  I double-checked the name on the report to make sure we were talking about the same child!  ;D

When I was in first grade I missed the bus on purpose for the first week or so. I was such a momma's girl, I didn't want to go to school and leave my mom.  :(  She had to drive me to school, take me to the classroom and the teacher would have to keep me busy so I couldn't see my mom out the window driving away. I would cry my eyes out.  :-[  I know that story doesn't help your situation, just felt like sharing.  ;D  I can give you some karma though, and tell you I hope it gets better for you.  :)

As for me, today sucked. I got into it with my boss. I've been holding it in for weeks and I just blew up today. Too much to go into the whole thing, but luckily I still have a job.

I'm obviously retaining water like the Hoover Dam. After only one blood pressure/extra strength water pill this morning, I've lost six pounds. The doctor said I could expect to pee like crazy for two weeks, so one can only imagine how much water weight I've been carrying around. :o

I'm gonna feel sore tomorow as I attended my first softball practice this afternoon. it went great, I played well, the weather was perfect, blue sky, sunny and warm. sad thing is I'm not getting younger and my body just doesn't move as quickly as it once did but the good thing is that this team is players between the ages 49-55 only so we're all on an ecen playing field. I'll be playing on my two "young  teams" Mondays and Wednesdays. the older guys team is a traveling tournament team, but we're not gonna travel too far unless we're successful, then we'll see where our success takes us. mostly just here in Northern California, maybe Las Vegas and Lake Tahoe.

I had a good day today. Got my paper turned in; glad to get that out of the way. Also I got to see some of my lady friends; I even showed some pictures to one of them. :)

OK. I can live thru this crappy time at work. I've been complaining as of late, but here's the deal.
We are a new staff that was poorly trained and our last regional director did nothing to help. Now we have someone that is here to "clean up Dodge". I think it's great.  My boss, however, does not.  he wasnt to just do things the way he's always done them.  now he's acting all serious and pissy....so that's the thing i can't live with.  not the work, just the guy that's won't do things the right way.

As far as I know, just grocery shopping.

My day was ok yesterday.At Pathmark,nobody said Happy Birthday not unless you told them that it was your birthday then they'd acknowledged it.It was sure a busy day and all the carts were there.When I came home,I had my chicken dinner and maybe today or tomorrow,I'll have my birthday cake and my present from my mother which is a gift card. :)

I came back from doing early shift at work after 11am to find I had accidentally locked myself out. Fortunately the attractive neighbour let me in, I accidentally woke her up as she was doing nightshift. Still . . . at least my shopping delivery didn't come at the same time otherwise I would have been lumbered, lol.

Now I am about to buy myself some wrestling dvds online.  8)

We had a peeping tom in our kitchen window this morning.  :o :o :o  There is a window above our microwave oven. Both cats like to sit on the oven and look out. But, today-one of their boyfriends climbed up on some bins we have sitting on the back porch and was looking it.  :o :o :o  We both looked out the window at him and he started talking to us-as if he was asking, "Can I come in?" I started thinking, "Uh oh" and Carlos said to me, "Don't even THINK about it." I guess he read my mind.  :D ;D ;D  We put Elvira on the microwave to see if it was her boyfriend. He went away, so maybe he was Electra's boyfriend. But, so far, he hasn't come back-YET!  :-\\  Also, I don't recall seeing him around the neighborhood.

Up early this morning to eat breakfast so that there was a four hour gap between eating and my 10 a.m. MRI scan.  Before that I had to take James to the doctors.  Yesterday he was complaining that his chest hurt when he was breathing.  Doc reckons its probably a virus (i.e. he doesn't really know).

After my scan I went to a friends house to join with the rest of the knitting circle.

Tired now.

Today I'm at home. Now that my paper's out of the way, I'm just going to relax for a bit.

And NO thinking of what you should be studying...that's not relaxing.  ;D

He had to have back surgery & now can't really take care of himself.
The doctors figure it is due to the exposure he had to Agent Orange, when he was enlisted in Vietnam.

For me, it was the instant unknown swelling of my right ankle, which has relieved now, but the foot is still tender with the affected tendons.

Electra was up on the microwave this morning. The way she was looking out the window, I thought her boyfriend (our peeping Tom) was back. I looked out the window and saw a big hairy looking rat. Yeah, I know it is NOT a rat but an opossum. Ugly looking thing. And he was getting into our garbage. I ran for my camera. I took a bunch of pics but this is the only one that came out (and I cropped it). It was through two windows-1 is fiberglass and all scratched up and the other is a storm door window that is in dire need of a cleaning so it looks very fuzzy.

Just back from skiing.  I had the same instructor as last week and she was really pleased with my progress.  I was feeling more confident as the lesson went on and actually found the turning easier when I went slightly faster.  The instructor even spoke about going up the other lifts to the slightly more technical area next time.

Just waiting for a cup of tea to brew.  Then I'll feel better.

James is going to a friends party tonight, so Elizabeth and I are having a girl's night out (probably pizza).

Last few bits to tidy up either this evening or tomorrow morning.  We have friends from Boston coming for the weekend.  We plan to go skating tomorrow and on Sunday to a local Maple Syrup festival.

Another snowy sucky day today.  Right now we're under a blizzard warning with more snow coming overnight and all day tomorrow. When's it's all over, we should have over a foot of snow. Like I've said in many posts here, I'm so sick of snow!!!!  8-P I need a nice sunny warm day real soon before I go ballistic! I've just been so bitchy at home and at work, and I know it's just this crappy weather getting me down.

We NEVER know what kind of weather will hit us in Tn.  So far this week, we've had snow, warmed up to about 70, tornado warning and storm, some days we go without a jacket, but that night we have to bundle up so much to keep out the cold...it goes below freezing..today a storm in a morning and gentle rain in the afternoon...what next?

I just scheduled a vacation for the short one and myself in June.  We are going to Vegas.  I got a deal through Orbitz.  Two plane tickets and two nights at Circus Circus for $497.  She has never flown before and can hardly wait.

We are planning on going to the shark reef.  Plus I will probably let her play in the amusement park in the Hotel.  Other than that, not sure, we will wing it.

FYI: When I was looking into tickets for Puerto Rico, I used to go to Expedia. My sister told me that she got better rates from going to the airlines themselves. She was right. Whenever we fly, I'm going to book through the airline website rather than those on-line services. Though, I don't know about booking hotels with it or not since the places we go, we don't need a hotel.

I had a problem with Expedia and a hotel reservation, talked to a couple of others who had problems, too.  I go direct to the hotel web or to AAA.  Any discounts after that are negligible and, the results are more reliable.  ;)

Friends came down from Boston yesterday.  We went ice skating in a nearby rink.  The weather was horrible so it was nice to have an indoor thing organised.  Today we went to a maple sugar festival.  It was sunny but the wind was v cold so we only did a few things.

Wow,this day was insane.I think Pathmark needs to buy at least a couple of hundred brand new carts because today there were NO carts whatsoever for the past couple of hours and customers were complaining(about 100 of them) and I told them "cart shortage"and there was nothing I could do about it.The carts finally came back slowly after 3pm. ::)

It's blowing a hoolie out there. Galeforce winds, lashing rain, lovely stuff...... :P It kept me awake most of the night and i have to work until 7pm tonight *sigh*.I shall try and stay awake!  ;D

I balanced the checkbook and paid a few bills today, picked Hunter up from school, I have to go get Meg in a bit.  At 6:00 I have to take Megan to softball tryouts.

Sorry Bobby i missed this. I work at a gallery,it's mostly brazilian art from the beginning of the 20th century but we sell some paintings from current artists too. Usually once a week we have a group of students on a school trip to see the exhibition,this time was kids with 6 and 7 they were really well behaved so that was nice for a change ;D
I've always been interested in art but since i started working here i try to learn more and i have to say i think some of todays artists are as good as the bigger names...i guess they'll be recognized when they're gone,it's a shame.

after work I drove to the university to take some stuff and some $$ to Julie & then came home. routine typical evening as i had some food, leftover broccoli beef, and then after dinner, I checked my lottery numbers online and was surprised to see I won $435  woot!   called Lady Di in to help me verify and she got all excited so that was pretty cool. to think that I was only 1 number away from winnning $196,000      so close... so very close  :o  so now I got money for lunch  ::)    that's a rare win, only the 2nd time in like 3 years that I've won an amount that nice. I think I'll use it to buy James Taylor tickets for us. he'll be in Berkeley in July. we saw him last year and would probably see him as often as he comes as he is a personal favorite of ours

Man I am so tired today, don't know what it is. I was so tired last night I actually ate my dinner, washed the dishes and went to bed  :o Unheard of for me. Maybe all my life's worth of sleep debt is finally catching me up!  ;D

after work I drove to the university to take some stuff and some $$ to Julie & then came home. routine typical evening as i had some food, leftover broccoli beef, and then after dinner, I checked my lottery numbers online and was surprised to see I won $435  woot!   called Lady Di in to help me verify and she got all excited so that was pretty cool. to think that I was only 1 number away from winnning $196,000      so close... so very close  :o  so now I got money for lunch  ::)    that's a rare win, only the 2nd time in like 3 years that I've won an amount that nice. I think I'll use it to buy James Taylor tickets for us. he'll be in Berkeley in July. we saw him last year and would probably see him as often as he comes as he is a personal favorite of ours

I stopped at Best Buy on the way home to exchange a DVD "Live 8" 2005"  I got for my birthday, because it wasn't the one I wanted. Last week I looked for "LIVE AID 1985" & they didn't have it, & again couldn't find it tonight, but a employee checked & said they had 1 copy somewhere, but it wasn't where it was supposed to be so I shopped around & got a Led Zeppelin CD "The Song Remains The Same" re-released & remasterd

oh boy, I can hardly wait  ;D  I found this review on that part of the performance (if you can call it a performance) and it pretty much agrees with your sentiments Gis.

Note : Bob Dylan was dead stoned, as was Keith Richards and in a smaller condition, Ron Wood ... The performance was VERY bad, they could hardly stand up, had no monitors on stage and Dylan broke a string in the middle of the act ...

He then did a real mistake, asking that some of the millions gathered this day should be used to help the farmers in the USA who couldn't pay the banks ...

Geldof was really upset by this as it was a way to make people think all the money would not go to Africa as promised.

Later on, Bob Dylan intiated Farm Aid to help US farmers

The other day I got a gift card from my uncle for FYE,can't wait to spend it. :)

I'm feeling sick and tired of being sick. I was sick for nearly 3 weeks (sinus stuff, lost my voice for over 2 weeks...just miserable)...then I finally got better. Now..due to this stupid weather going back and forth (65 one day, 25 the next)...I am sick once again. I feel so miserable. AND, I've been trying my damnest to lose more weight..and no matter what I do, I can't lose a pound, infact I've gained a few. I exercise, I watch what I eat...I am just so damn frustrated.  :\'(

And we found out that she was misdiagnosed in the ER.
Her ankle isn't sprained...it's got 2 hairline fractures.

Melissa is stressing out so badly....I am being strong for them both, but I feel like Freddie Mercury in "The Show Must Go On"-

Are you doing any muscle toning exercises? If not, I can dig up the link for you of what I do. You'll need to get some weights (between 2 and 8 lbs...I use 5 lbs.) and a mat, though. They're pretty simple, you tone a lot of muscle groups at once, and it only takes between 15-30 minutes, depending on how many reps you do. I add in some sit ups too, because my love handles have love handles, but that's just me. ;)

Don't get discouraged though. Hawk is right, you have probably hit a plateau, so I'd just step up the exercise a bit, eat like you have been, and try not to sweat it too much. Also, if you have gained a few pounds, it might be muscle weight, because muscle is heavier than fat.

Went around a friends house this morning for tea and chat.  Went to the gym this evening whilst Elizabeth was at her dance class in the same building.

Tomorrow I have to vacuum this house and mop the floors.  Also going the doctors to get the results of my MRI and blood tests.

I would agree on the plateau, in some cases they suggest eating slightly more for a few days just to kick start again. Also as Jessica says muscle weighs more. I would also add the golden rule of dieting 'Don't keep weighing yourself' Try once a week or if you possibly can give it two or three weeks. Being ruled by your scale is the way to downfall............

I feel very accomplished today. I used some latural thinking by placing all my comic book annuals into the sections of a spare shoe rack. I haven't got that many shoes and it got them out of the way. I finally put my computer desk together today too - Way-hay!  :D I've been putting that off for a couple of months.  ;D

I'm feeling shattered.  Spent most of the morning washing, swepping, dusting etc.  Friends coming round tomorrow (like about 15 women plus small children) for coffee morning.  Still need to vacuum the carpets and would like to mop the downstairs floors but I've just remembered I don't have anything for dinner tonight so I'd better go shopping instead.  Eeek!

Also sorted out one or two items of direct debits left over from the move.  Spotted that I was still paying my car insurance  ::)  Managed to find out what the money I was paying my building society was for so I could contact the correct call centre to arrange for the DD to transfer to my new account.  Still can't sort out one thing.  You can't direct dial UK 0800 numbers from the US.  >:(

Well, I am officially on spring break now; that feels good. However, I have lots of time to keep myself busy studying, as I have a midterm exam on the day I go back to classes (Monday the 24th). There is also a chance that I might have to go to campus sometime next week to study with two people from my English (literature) class, and/or do some research at the library for my next paper. See, yesterday after the lit class, I talked with one of the girls in the class (she seems real nice), and she told me that she plans to get together with someone else in the class next week and study; we exchanged emails, so we could make plans to get together. :)
Until then, I plan to do some studying on my own.

What I did last night was write an email to Robin cause it's been a month since I haven't spoken to her,hopefully she'll call me back cause I left my cell# in the email just in case she wants to because she might have discarded it because her parents told her to. :(

I have to agree with Wayne.  Believe me when I say I know how hard it is, Howard, but you need to let go and not contact her.  It isn't going to help and it only makes you look bad (to put it nicely).  The best way to get over her is to go on, spend time with loved ones, work hard, and live the happiest life you can.  Seriously, it will get easier and you will find that you can go entire days (work your way up from minutes though) without thinking about her.

The heart wants what the heart wants.  I know it's hard.  It's just going to take time.  AND it will be hell.  Even if you did go out and look for someone else, you'll still want the one you can't have.  Although...distance/time does heal all wounds.  Hell even when I was waiting for my divorce (from my first marriage that he left 3 months before)...I entertained the idea of what if...and maybe if I did this...and what can't he see what we had... and finally I realized in the 3 months wait between filing for divorce and actually getting the court date... was perhaps he did see what we had and even though it was the HARDEST thing I've had to do so far...it's really the best thing that could have happened because had I not gotten divorced and stopped wanting something that was comfortable (although not what I truly needed), it was only after I got that out of my system that I could move on and find my real ONE TRUE LOVE.    How's that for a run-on sentence...?  Sorry, my fingers got the best of me.

Take your time Howard, I know it's hard, and I know you think that she might miss you as much as you miss her.  It's unfortunate, but in this lifetime you aren't meant to be together for whatever reason.  Take your time, cool your heels, lick your wounds, find a hobby but do not wallow anymore.  Honestly, it only prolongs the hurt from easing off that band-aid/bandage.  It'll only hurt for awhile.

As for me, nothing new happening for me in awhile.  Just living day-to-day trying to remain upbeat and not too dismal.  It helps that we've had some sun lately and the snow is melting.  Yay.

She has a Salter-Harris Type II fracture in her left ankle.
It's on the growth plate, but nondisplaced- meaning nothing's broken off.

She has a Salter-Harris Type II fracture in her left ankle.
It's on the growth plate, but nondisplaced- meaning nothing's broken off.

She got the fracture on Saturday, Patty.
She played "bucking bronco" on her bicycle, and the bike won.
Initially, she was crying about the pain, but she doesn't seem to complain about it now.
She's on crutches, ansd seems to be doing OK with them. I've shown her how to use them.

I've had to be the strong one for both of us. Melissa's had a worse time of it than I.
She's never had a broken bone in her life, and only one surgery.

Do you think Teela is excited about using cruches because it is an unusual way to walk and kids like attention and being, well, unusual sometimes.  lol 

They misdiagnosed it in the E/R?  (I read back a little in the thread to catch up)  What happened there?  Did they just prescribe some Tylenol and say she's fine?  Sometimes I wonder about those places, if you aren't suffering a gunshot or have a knife in your chest, then you're fine.  ::)

They mis-diagnosed it as a sprain.

Take your time Howard, I know it's hard, and I know you think that she might miss you as much as you miss her.  It's unfortunate, but in this lifetime you aren't meant to be together for whatever reason.  Take your time, cool your heels, lick your wounds, find a hobby but do not wallow anymore.  Honestly, it only prolongs the hurt from easing off that band-aid/bandage.  It'll only hurt for awhile.

I feel for her.  I know how much fractures hurt!

So...last night I had this massive earache and sore throat...it was HORRIBLE. I read somewhere that putting a bit of hydrogen peroxide in your ears helps...so I thought...what the heck. I put a tad bit in each ear, followed by cotton swabs for a short amount of time, then I went to bed with the heating pad. I woke up this morning and ALL of the pain (in my ears and throat) was gone! :o  The only thing I have now are a bit of clogged ears/stuffy hearing...that's about it. I hope the pain doesn't come back (knock on wood!).

I've been were you are and, as Bookmistress says, it was hell to deal with but I realised that the problem was me and how I viewed the situation and me. Once I learned about the failings and insecurities within myself I started to improve and positively do everything I could to change for the better. Now, I'm not suggesting you change as each situation is different but the best advice I was given was 'Take care of YOU'. A simple message I have been carrying around with me for about two years and I haven't forgotten it.

You will move on eventually and wonder what all the fuss was about. :)

I went to the docs yesterday.  As she suspected I have ovarian cysts and will need surgery.  It should only be a day case, sometime in May.  I'm feeling a bit odd about it because she also mentioned that she could sterilise me at the same time.  Now I don't want any more children (my two are more than enough) but somehow making it permanent seems too big a step to take.  Does that make sense?

I'll add to everyone's woes and say that Wednesday night I had a pretty bad asthma attack and woke up yesterday morning with heart palpitations. Went to the ER because I have never had anything like that happen. I'm better now, but I guess the heart palpitations were caused by the attack. The doctor who saw me thinks I have inflammation in my lungs, which is causing me to have a lot of asthma attacks (I've had three in the last month, whereas I usually only have one a year).

I'm on Prednisone now, and those tablets are the nastiest tasting things ever. 8-P

Karen and Jess, you are both in my prayers.  I hope you both get better quickly.

Thanks Bob,you've been a great help to me and helped me lift up my spirits.Robin was a good girl but it seems she wanted more than I can give her,financially,Her And I just couldn't work it out,this was the hard part.Trying to live up to her expectations to get this full time job but nothing happened and I kept promising her,year after year that she wound up getting frustrated at me and her family so that was the end of that.But she has kicked my ass and gave me the motivation to help me keep my job and I thanked her for it.I love a girl who is motivated about work and hopefully,I'll find the same girl someday. :)

Speaking of which.....Julio called me up last week, and asked if I would consider being hired for a onetime "return engagement" with the band. He booked another "free" gig (no surprise there), but because they haven't got a new Lead Vocalist, they want me for it. He says he'll pay me.
Don't know if I'll do it or not, yet.

This time around, I am the one formulating the plan.
I almost feel magnanimous! 8)

Teela is still pretty feverish, so she stayed home today.

I also heard that vinegar can work, too but I think a lot of it has to do with the cause of the pain-bacterial or fungal. I did hear that vinegar can make bacterial worse. I believe mine is caused by bacterial-which to my understand is a base and the lemon juice is an acid and it is supposed to balance itself out.

With regards to heart palpitations, my mom had a weird bout of those in September 2005 and had to be taken to the hospital; the doctor found out what was wrong and diagnosed the condition with a certain name that I'm drawing a blank on; it started with a "P", I remember that. I'll have to ask her again.

Just spent the day chilling. The gig last night was awesome! Gary Numan looked very tired when he came on stage but once he got going *so* much energy. I swear in all my years of going to see live music it was the best crowd reaction I have ever heard.

Weekend is here, and I don't have to work tomorrow YIIIIIPPPPEEEEEE!!!!!! :D

It was a bad couple of days for me because Verizon decided to shut off my DSL, I've been fighting with them
since yesterday. They finally said  it was their error but I would have to reconnect but they would waive the
reconnection fee, how thoughtful of them. They also said I wouldn't be reconnected until the 19th. As you
can see, I'm here so I guess the threat to go to Comcast worked.
I love  ham and potatoes, make em scalloped please. I made a corned beef w/cabbage and had some on a roll w/mustard and it was gooooood.      I used to despise cabbage because of the smell when my mother used to make sauerkraut. I would run out of the house.  good news getting your internet back up. your threat helped, but it shouldn't come to that, they should earnestly do all they can to get their paying customers back in service.

I was toying with The Other Boleyn Girl, I loved the book and the T.V version the BBC did so I wasn't sure the film could top that. Every review I've seen has panned the film and classed it as a turkey so that was my decision made for me!  ;D

Going shopping today and dropping more stuff off at the Goodwill. Man, they're really benefiting from my "living simply" kick. :D

Feeling a lot better today too, except the steroid effect of the prednisone is giving me a fat(ter) face. :P

Took my car in for inspection today and it needs $3000 worth of repairs to pass.  Tie rods, shocks, gear box, serpentine belt, tires.....crap.  I just paid off that stupid card, too.

Micah's been sick all week, missed school Thursday & Friday.  Think she is finally starting to feel better, now I can hardly swallow my throat hurts so bad!

Wayne, I hope Teela is better soon.  I know firsthand many times over how frustrating it is when the ER docs misdiagnose your child...the latest was when they just said she sprained her foot/ankle and a week of ice would help.  Three weeks later went to regular dr and found out she had torn most/all of the ligaments on that side.  I hope things go great for you musically!!

Howard, I understand where you are coming from, really I do, but wishing her bad luck won't make you feel better.  Best to focus on you and your healing.  I'm not a venegeful person, but let me share this with you:  The best revenge is to be happy and feel good about what you are doing.  Sorry I don't remember exactly how the quote goes, but I have used it to help me get through the past year.  I am doing great at my job, have applied for a new one in my dept, my daughter has been accepted to 2 colleges (he doesn't need to know her first rejected her), and I have lost 10 pounds in the last month.  I am not doing this to "get back" at him, but to prove to myself that there is life without him and it can be a happy one.

To all my friends who haven't been feeling well, I hope you all feel better soon!

Off to get Micah's soccer cleats, prescription, and Easter stuff.  She doesn't want to do an egg hunt this year because we can't do it in "our" motel room in Niles like we do every year.  She did pay me a high compliment that I was getting much better at hiding the eggs.  :)  I just can't afford our weekend in Buchanan AND our trip to PA so close together.  She understands, but we are both bummed about it.  We both look forward to that trip so very much...it was always a given that regardless if we made it down any other weekend, we ALWAYS went Easter weekend to check on the elderly people in my life and reconnect with my church family.  Gonna feel strange to not be there this year.

This is WHY we will not go with Verizon-so we are stuck with &^*%$#@ dial-up. I have looked into Comcast but the problem is, Carlos doesn't want to go from paying about $12 for dial-up to paying about $50 + (probably much higher) for internet service.

Went out last night for a meal to say goodbye to two of our crowd who are heading back to England in the next few weeks.

Spent until now with James at his Scout pack pinewood derby.  James won one heat and came second a few times.  OVerall for his Den he tied to third place - unfortunately only the top two go through to the final!

Howard, you don't have to wish her anything-she will get what is coming to her. What goes around, comes around. I have read one of your recent posts where you call her a "good girl". I don't think she was good at all. She went out on that "speed dating" thing while she was supposed to be with you. In my book, a good girl that does not make.

I feel your pain. We've probably spent that much on the VW over the past two years, plus it's coming up for an oil change. And the stupid engine light is still ON. :P

Shopping is done, I spent more than I wanted on shoes (but needed to get two pairs....a pair strictly for walking and one for regular exercise), and now I'm sitting here trying to figure out how to rearrange our furniture to maximize space. My goal is to get stuff rearranged, organized, and power cleaned before Jason and I head to California in May, that way Rice won't have to worry about too much whilst on his own. :D

Unfortunately it was all needed or it wouldn't pass inspection.  I trust these guys, I have been going there for years and haven't had a problem.  I am very picky about who works on my car, I have even gotten a mechanic fired at a different shop for trying to fix things that didn't need fixed. 

The car is riding much better now.  You can definitely tell the shocks have been replaced.  Plus they gave me a coupon for four free oil changes, can't complain about that.  I am also getting an $80 rebate on the tires, which will go to the card but hey, its $80 less.

So we went to see Vantage Point yesterday after all, it was very good. It was raining when we went in the cinema, raining when we came out, rained all night and is raining now! The bit of land out back where they were clearing to lay tarmac is a huge lake of water now!  :o I'm kind of glad the plans to visit my sister were pushed back it would have been miserable to be at the seaside in this weather.

Today I plan to stay in and cook a huge roast dinner.

Howard, I understand where you are coming from, really I do, but wishing her bad luck won't make you feel better.  Best to focus on you and your healing.  I'm not a venegeful person, but let me share this with you:  The best revenge is to be happy and feel good about what you are doing.  Sorry I don't remember exactly how the quote goes, but I have used it to help me get through the past year.  I am doing great at my job, have applied for a new one in my dept, my daughter has been accepted to 2 colleges (he doesn't need to know her first rejected her), and I have lost 10 pounds in the last month.  I am not doing this to "get back" at him, but to prove to myself that there is life without him and it can be a happy one.

I have a dilemma that I have been mulling over. I've been approached by a welding instructor at our union
hall. He asked if I'd be interested in helping the out by testing welders to get them certified. I am one of
the few members of our local who is an AWS Certified Welding Inspector and he says they are shorthanded.

My dilemma? I don't know if I want to take the job. Yes, it's extra money, it pays foremans rate, and I would
have to go to Las Vegas for a week, at their expense, to get training on testing but I am not a people person.
I have a few weeks to think about it but I don't know what to do......any ideas?

My mate attempted suicide over a girl once and he said to me afterwards; 'Rob, that was one of the stupidest things I ever did. I won't allow a woman to do that to me again'. I woke up with a wild hair up my butt about cleaning. So I cleaned the whole condo. Like, CLEANED it. I moved stuff around, got those dust bunnies out of the corner, got rid of some more crap that we didn't need, scrubbed whatever didn't move, and just generally made the dust fly. I'm not done yet (gotta finish laundry and do up the dishes and scrub out the sink), but I plan to get it all out of the way tonight so I can scrub the floors tomorrow.

it sounds good, especially the trip but how long is the committment to be a trainer and you seem to be a decent enough people person here, but of course this isn't "the real world".  You probably don't have to be a good people person, just need to pass on your experience and knowledge and train them. they may hate you at first, but in the end you're helping them and the union. good luck with your decision Kevin.

You'll fall a lot harder for somebody who does feel the same way, and you'll end up a lot happier than you were when you first met her!

I have just been out for a walk, to a location close by and investigate the BBC recording a musical programme for television. The programme will be on BBC2 on Saturday called Sound. The show will feature the groups/performers Panic At The Disco, Natasha Bedingfield, Foals, Newton Faulkner and Clocks. I could not see any of the artists. As my foot was slightly painful, I had to return home.

Jason, I'm so sorry. Please don't do anything silly, give yourself time. I'm another one here who has had her heart smashed to pieces I thought I'd never recover but you do, cliche that it is, time is a great healer.

I'm feeling kind of frustrated with the bird life (featherted variety!) in my garden. As long as we have lived here I have put out food for the birds, but our neighbours but one had 4 cats so no birds came...........They moved and I thought great! I ended up with 5 blackbirds who chase away any other bird who dares come near the garden!

So I put up food in the tree which they can't get to but in theory the smaller birds can and what happens? The bloody jackdaws are eating the lot even as I type!  >:( I can hear the little bluetits etc cheeping away in the trees at the bottom of the garden but they are too scared of the big crows to come into the garden. Grrr

After, my wonderful husband took me to lunch and then we went shopping for a new robe for him. We went to I don't know how many stores and they all said, "We had some at Christmas time but not now." I didn't realize that there was a season for men's bathrobes.  ???  We did manage to find him one-but it was made in China.  >:(  He bought it anyway. But at least it was on sale. We looked at towels and bath rugs but there wasn't anything that we really liked so I will look on line (which I am GREAT at shopping that way.  ;D )

Jason, I feel for you man. Believe me, I think we've all been there. It feels like someone punched you in the gut
and as soon as you're able to breath, they punch you in the gut again.

Jason, I know that at the moment all seems lost and you think about her every minute of every day but it will get
better. In time you'll find yourself only thinking about her once or twice a day, then maybe once week and then you
won't think about her at all and I'll tell you this, you'll be a better man when all is said and done. keep your head up
and hang in there, you have many friends here and all are eager to help.

Last year on St. Patrick's Day, I was looking for the lyrics to a song that was written/preformed by my favorite local group called The Woods Tea Company. So I went to their website and found that one of its members had passed away.  :\'( :\'( :\'(  It was a shock because the guy was young-and he passed away I think the follow Sept. or so but I just found out about last St. Patrick's day.

This year, I was looking for the lyrics again so I went to their website again only to find out ANOTHER member had passed away-last Aug.  :\'( :\'( :\'(  And yeah, he was young, too. The passing of this guy really saddens me so because I have talked to him many times-he was a super nice guy. I almost got a job with them (as a booking agent or something like that) so I had a few long conversations with him on the phone-plus talking to him at concerts. This guy was the founding member and I'm not too sure if the group will be able to survive without him.  :\'( :\'( :\'(

I think in some ways a big group thing is easier than one on one.  You can usually get a bit of interaction going with one or two members in the group to get things flowing.  If they don't all like you so what?

My dad's in the hospital again. He did something to his leg, which screwed up his back and made it hurt worse. Then he barely admitted to my mom a half hour ago that his chest was also hurting. He was already at the hospital by that time, but wasn't going to say anything I guess. My mom told on him though, so now we're just waiting to see what's wrong.

...What am I gonna do? I worked, then I went to Costco and bought a few items, now I'm gonna go cook one of the items I bought. A beautiful slab of a salmon filet,, huge it is! it's been marinating and now I beter go cook it up and eat some. as they say in the UK, "cheerio"  8)

His heart is okay, but apparently he stepped down too hard off a curb the other day and screwed up his bad leg and didn't say anything until my mom caught him crying in pain yesterday. Anytime he screws up his leg or the weather changes, it causes his back and leg and everything else to screw up even more. So they shot him full of morphine, and he's going to see his regular doctor in another hour.

Yesterday I went for my annual. I mentioned about the sinus infection that I have been struggling with. She looked at my ears and said they looked fine-which I can FEEL that they are NOT fine. She writes me a prescription for a nasal spray-yeah, I have one of those already-and then sends me on my way. On the way home, I noticed that the prescription says, "For VA pharmacy only". The only VA pharmacy I know of it at least an hour and a half drive from here-ONE WAY.  Well they did call this morning to tell me that I have been approved and I can make the appointment for my annual mammogram and I asked about the prescription. I was told that there is a pharmacy in Rutland that would take it (she didn't tell me that yesterday). It is about 20 miles away or so but at least it is fairly close.

Carlos INSISTED that I call the other doc who I went to see about the infection in the first place. (He is Carlos' doc and our friend). So, I did. I didn't have a change to tell him all the details (that I wrote out in the first paragraph of this post-YET!), I just said that it is hanging on and he said, "Let's see if we can knock this thing out once and for all." So, I will be going back to him this afternoon. I really hope it gets knocked out soon because next month, I will have to fly and the idea of going up in a plane with a sinus infection/problems with my ears does not sound like it will be a lot of fun.  :-\\

Went to Teela's Orthopedist app't., this morning.

She has a very small fracture, but the doctor thinks it will heal OK. She has an air-splint on, and is to use weightbearing as tolerated.

No surgery- thank God.

Thanks. The doc looked in my ears and said that were NOT fine-which I knew they weren't when the person I saw yesterday said they were.  >:(

He gave me some nasal spray and said they SHOULD be better in a few days. He said that IF they are still bad by the time we are ready to fly, to bring it with me and to use it right before we take off-that is if the airline will let me take it on the plane.  :-\\

Well, I managed to get some studying done today. I also took care of things around the house.

This morning, however, I picked up my pictures from Walgreens (as I mentioned in the "Last Thing You Bought" thread) and they all came out great!! :D The picture of Claire is probably my favourite in the bunch.

On Christmas Day, I took a picture of my mom, a picture of Chloe (the dog), and a couple pictures of things in my room. The next day I took a picture of the outside of my home, a picture of our nativity, and one of the Christmas tree. And on New Year's Eve I took a couple pics of my parents dancing.

Yes, it is hard; but the more one does it, the easier it becomes. Some people may ignore you, but there's always the chance to find another friend who will not ignore you!
