no plans over here, just relaxing at home, setting up a new all in one printer for Julie to use for school at her dorm.  lazing around the house, eating, snacking, watching a Harry Potter movie.

There aren't any set traditions. the day is used however you want  :)  one thing I know of there are bbq's going on, and there are lots of softball tournaments everywhere but we played last week.

typical day here......just watch the world go by!

But I did start to go through some music files & struck a Diamond of a find!
I'd had this song downloaded for 2 1/2 years & just today I found it.
Back in the days .I'd gather some 100 to 200 songs perday sometimes .so its easy to loose track.

Oh the track was Whamdue - King of The Castle (Org edit)
Its got a airport lounge kinda sound to it!
If you like the "King of The Castle" radio version........This is odd this version was never given much to any radio airplay .........

Everyone's gone now, but we hosted the thing today.  I hate hosting parties, I'd rather go to somebody else's house...

Drank a couple beers and had BBQ teriyaki salmon.  Old school metal was on the CD player all day.  No riots so I guess it was a success...

I don't think anyone really has traditions... it's signifies the end of summer here in the US.... Labor day is always the first monday in Sept and schools usually start on Tuesday (although some schools have started earlier now.)

most people (as you can tell) have picnics and bbqs.  Here in Santa Barbara (Goleta really) they had a fireworks show because we had a huge fire Fourth of July weekend (2nd yr in a row) and they had to cancel the fireworks because so many homes were threatened. I met the mayor of Goleta on Friday and he told me they decided to have  fireworks tonight because everyone was sad about no fireworks on the 4th.

As for me... I labored on labor day.  There are usually sales at big department stores, and as Howard pointed out all those picnic people run to the grocery store for last minute items... therefore,  Police, fire, ambulance, hospital and retail people are the few laborers who never get the day off.

Labor Day: How it Came About; What it Means

Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country

I am in a union and our book states that we do not work on Labor Day unless it is a matter of life and death.  The Massachusetts unions have a big Labor Day meeting and invite political leaders for speeches.  I am guessing a lot of envelopes are exchanged between the glad handing.  Massachusetts has seen a surge in union membership in the past couple of years.

We don't have any Labor Day at all. I don't really mind, though.
