Subject: A request.

Many of you don't know that I am addicted to reading other people's blogs.  Almost four years ago, I was introduced to the Debutaunt, right about the time she started battling a form of leukemia.  I have followed her ever since, donated to her fundraisers, sent her messages of encouragement, emailed her on occasion, etc.  I make no claim to knowing her well, but I adore her.  She had had a stem cell transplant (courtesy of her brother) and was in remission.  She has battled that, encephalitis, tiredness, everything under the sun.  A few months ago, she noticed that she was more tired than usual, that she was bruising easier....you can see where I'm going with this.  The leukemia came back.  We thought she was doing good until the beginning of December.  It seemed like she dropped off the face of the planet at that time.  Then her sister updated all of her readers.  Deb was in the hospital, battling pneumonia.  I'm not going to get into all of it, but as it stands now, she is STILL in the hospital, intubated for the fourth time.  Her kidneys and liver are failing due to all the meds.

I'm not sure where I'm going with this, except to ask all of you to keep her in your thoughts and prayers (if you do pray).  She is an extraordinary woman, and I know she desperately wants to get home to her young daughter.

This is her website.  It hasn't been updated in awhile (of course), but in the comments section of the last entry, you can find notes from her sister on how she's doing.

This is hitting me really hard and I don't know why.  She's not a close friend, but dammit, I deeply care about her and her daughter. :-\\

I will, too.

And it is hitting you hard because you have come to care for her like a friend.  It's how you are (and a good thing).  PM me if there is anything I can do to help you, Jess.

It's amazing how much you can come to love people over the internet.  I understand completely, and of course my thoughts are with her...and you.

An update, though an extremely sad one:

If you can, pray for her to go peacefully.  Since the time I originally started this post, she has gone completely downhill.  There is nothing left to do but hope that she is soon released from the hell she has endured over the past four months.

I f**king hate cancer.

I just found out that Debby passed away this morning.  Thank you all for your good thoughts and prayers.  When her family's pain is......less than it is now, I will send her sister this link so she knows that Deb and her spirit were praised by people who didn't even know her.

I'm sorry to hear this Jess.  Even though this lady wasn't a relative she was clearly someone with whom you felt a connection.

This is so sad Jess. I know you didn't "know" her...but you were still connected, and that makes it hurt just the same. :(

Oh, this is the friend you mentioned on myspace.  Geez, I should have read this earlier.  It tough losing someone to cancer.  I lost a friend to bone cancer.  My thoughts are with her family and you.
