Lessee, June...my niece turns 3, so there's a birthday celebration I gots to go to.

My brother turns 30, but I'm seeing him this weekend since I can't afford to get to the San Francisco adventure they have planned the following weekend.

My sister-in-law and her kids will be here mid-June, and on the day they get in we're going up north near Payson AZ for the weekend.

Oil change on the car.  That's about all I have planned for now.

My hubby's friend's fiance invited me to come with her Wednesday to pick up her wedding gown from the store she bought it from.  Not sure if she wanted to do much else, we're not close.  I'm still in a bit of pain (especially in the car with seat belts and pot holes).  I told her I'd have to let her know tomorrow night.  :-\\

Her bridal shower is the 12th, a good half hour drive from here.  Hopefully I'll be driving by then.  Their wedding is in August.  My hubby is an usher.  I have to find a formal dress yet.  I have a couple that could work in a pinch if I don't get around to shopping by then.  I'm trying to be more enthusiastic, but having trouble.  :-[

I only use the pain pills in extreme cases now (I took one yesterday after 24 hours without one because we went out to eat and I was in a good deal of pain from the drive and just squeezing into a booth at the steak place.  I AM learning to eat less.  Hopefully something good will come of all this.)   Surgeon says I can take baths/showers now.  Yippeeee!  Those baby wipes weren't getting it.  But I guess they were better then nothing.  Hubby was gonna try to adapt the shower thing (the round hose to the square faucet, but never got around to it.)  (We're not really handy people DIY-ers.)  I know he can do it if he just tries, he's very good at adapting things.  He's had some computer problems that kinda needed solved urgently, as that is our lifeline out of this house.  lol)

I did fill my pain pill prescription today just in case.  I didn't think I had the money to do it before today (payday).  But with my insurance, it turned out to only cost $1.00.   :o  I just used some leftover pain meds from my gall bladder surgery in 2006.  I don't like how I get on them anyway.  I turn into a royal be-yatch and just am so grumpy.   Poor hubby.   ;D

Who are you seeing tonight?  I'm sure I could find out by researching Paley Center, but I'm being lazy tonight.   ;D

This month has gotten off to a fine start for me. I had a good day at work, and during lunchtime, I decided to eat with a couple of my colleagues (something that I don't often do; most times I've eaten alone, which is boring).

Who are you seeing tonight?  I'm sure I could find out by researching Paley Center, but I'm being lazy tonight.   ;D

good thing you didn't waste your energy it wasn't a Paley Event... Its Emmy season so they screen TV shows at movie theaters in hopes that people will vote for them... not that I have the power to vote.... basically they allow Guild members in first Writers, Producers, Directors etc and then us lowly fans can get in first come first serve and fill the empty spots....

The best thing about this is the "bad" seats are the front row cuz you are right ontop of the screen but I was only three feet from the panel...when I asked a question I was able to look right into the eyes of the actress's (Lauren Graham's) eyes... If Ash reads this..... Ash I was closer to them than we were to Dule at Paley!!!

Anyway tonight was ParentHood.... I LOVE THIS SHOW!!!! and Monica Potter, Lauren Graham, Peter Krause, and Ericka Christensen were there to talk about the series (they showed the finale which I'd already seen so I could've cared less about the distortion)

Anyway I got autographs from all four... and pics with Monica Potter and Ericka Christensen (sorry if I'm spelling it wrong too tired to look her up)

I asked Lauren for a pic but she felt like there wasn't time... oh well Lauren that just makes me more determined to get you next time...

Friday will be Burn Notice (which I could care less about but Sharon Gless is going to be there....so hellz yeah I'm going....)

and next wednesday (not tomorrow) is Criminal Minds...only a few are going to be there... not Shemar dammit cuz I want to hug him again but still its one of my favs so I'm going!!!!

And you need to tell your husband off for promising an update and then not giving us one.  We all feared the worst!

I do apologize for that, I should have reminded him to update.  Although truthfully there wasn't much to tell.  The doctors (must have been a teaching hospital since I had about 15 doctors in various stages of my stay), they would all come in, talk amongst themselves and then leave.   :D  Not tell me anything.  Poor hubby was a bit of a basketcase the week I was in, I was really worried about him.  He was not getting any sleep and was just beside himself.  Poor guy.  I think life is finally getting back to normal now (well about as normal as it can be for me anyway.) lol

It did feel like a zoo.  Here we have on display the rare North American Nite Owl.  Lunatic genus.  ;D They even had a "do not feed the animals" sign out.  They didn't give me anything (no water, no food, NOTHING) until the day before I got out.  I was so hungry after the 4th day I was gonna beat up my roommate and steal her food.  >:( :-\\ ;) ;D

Not long got back from an event at the High School.  A friend e-mailed to ask if we fancied going to an Empty Bowls event.  You pay either $5 or $10 for a bowl the students made in ceramics class and that gets you a meal of soup and bread.  The money raised goes to a local food pantry.  The food was prepared by the Home Ec students.

Went up to Burlington yesterday. We went out to dinner with step-daughter #2, step-son, soon-to-be step-daughter-in-law and grandson. We went to a restaurant where McDonald's used to be (and step-daughter #3 USED to work). Burlington, Vermont-the only place in the world where a McDonald's can go out of business.  :o :o :o :o  The restaurant had a contest to name it. Someone wanted to call it "Old McDonald's. My step-son wanted to name it "The Fallen Arches."  :D ;D ;D ;D

It was a nice dinner-then we went to see a jewelry show/open house that one of the kids' friends was involved. We then went to a poetry reading and went to an art thingy (no idea how to describe it) open house. Then went back to the kids' house and went to sleep.

Didn't sleep much last night. The windows were open and I could hear the traffic, the planes (the house is right in the flight path of the airport), one of their neighbors had their t.v. on ALL night (and no, it wasn't Q  :D ;D ;D ;D ), the rain, and my husband's snoring.  ::) Unfortunately, I forgot our toiletry bag. Couldn't REALLY brush my teeth (used my finger) and had to borrow and brush and a hair thingy to put my hair up.

Then this morning I survived ANOTHER 2 hour ballet class.  ;D ;D ;D ;D After class, we went to a new age specialty store to pick up a specific crystal. I did get some but NOT the one I really need. They happened to out of them. I hate when that happens. So now, I will probably have to go back or find another store close by. I can always buy it over the internet but it cost less than $5 and shipping would be more than that.

After, we went to step-daughter #3's where I took a shower and then we went to lunch with her husband and granddaughter #4. Then we came home and slept for a bit on the way home.

Fallen Arches!

Last night was the scout bbq awards night and campover.  It was o.k. though I wish people wouldn't talk when the awards are being handed out.

It started to rain just as we were going to bed.  People in the next tent wouldn't shut up.  I was just getting up the nerve to call out to them when they decided it was late enough.  I didn't get much sleep at all.  It didn't stop raining all night.  The first parent got fed up at about 5 a.m. and left.  Most everyone else packed up by 6.30.  I had to wake James at 7.30!!

Then the weather dried up.  Elizabeth has gone to a GS camp (sever weather warning given out for that county this afternoon!)

If you have a basement, you are supposed to go to it. If not, go to the central part of your house-away from windows and anything that can fall from the walls/ceiling.

BE SAFE!!!!

We survived!  I don't know if any tornadoes actually touched down or not.  :-\\  It was so windy here - Elizabeth was worried one of the trees was going to come crashing down.

James reckons we should have all jammed into the downstairs toilet.  It has no windows, it's under the stairs and the pipework helps hold the walls together apparently!

We're going back to California in like two weeks.  It is not the happiest of trips.  I came to the decision that we should go since my aunt's cancer has returned in the form of a tumor at the base of her skull.  As of right now, she is not doing exceptionally well.  She's suffering from seizures due to the size of said tumor, and is in the hospital.

I don't know what this summer will bring.  I don't know what will happen.  I'm scared as hell and worrying like crazy, therefore we are going home.  I will stay on as long as possible while Rice flies back to Chicago after a couple of weeks.  Depending on what happens, he will either fly back to California in August, or I will drive back to Chicago with someone coming along to keep me company.  I really don't know at this point.  It is not the most well thought out plan, but I really feel the urge to be with my family right now. :-\\

Thank you, everyone.  I've had a few updates on what is going on.  They did a spinal tap earlier, and it appears that she has cancer cells floating around in her spinal fluid.  They're going to start chemo tomorrow.  Her doctor is optimistic though, and thinks she'll be up and about soon, although time will tell what will happen with the cancer.  She was also more coherent today, so that's sort of good.

Be a whole lot better if she weren't actually dealing with this shizz, but I guess you have to take what good news you can get... :-\\

Got the rest of my staples out today (now I can pass through airport security!   ;) ;D )  I now have to have a home healthcare nurse come in everyday to change the pads/packing stuff inside mt incision because I have alot of fluid built up.   Hopefully they won't have to put styrofoam packing peanuts in there  ;) ;D (it would definately ruin the smooth line of my couture and cause visible pantyline  (or insert some other stupid joke here).  (I'm trying very hard to get my sense of humor back.)

I have a bridal shower to go to Saturday.  I still have to go somewhere to buy something and gift wrap.  The only thing on her bridal registry is a washer and dryer, a bunch of towels, and a fire pit for their yard.  (Not especially helpful.)

I would do it Patty.  I've done that with several showers...when I can't afford the gifts on the list I find stuff that I think they could use and make a gift basket out of a lot of little things...
Exactly - especially stuff related to what they asked for  8)

trying to find dresses for the girls - the one has to "pass on" her crown next month (and has several parades before then) - and the other (the oldest) is going to enter the fair princess contest for the last time (she decided, she will do it).  Something I really do not care to do, takes a lot of time to find the right dress, for the right amount of money :P

Those are both great ideas!  I wonder if I COULD get away with doing that.   :-\\

You could buy her some towels I suppose (they are relatively cheap) but I found that's what most people bought us who couldn't think what to buy (even when we had a gift list)  I opened the last box set in 2007 (we got married in 1998.

I like the idea of a nice gift box of things that would be useful and tied in with something else on her list.

Patty I think they are both fantastic ideas and I see no reason why you couldn't do one or the other. Especially if money is a little tight, it's the thought that counts and these gifts have exactly that thought involved, not just a link on a store website clicked.

Had a great time last night. We had a nice dinner at a restaurant that we kept saying that we needed to try out-for the past year! We finally did and it is a place we will definitely go again.

We got to the concert (which was across the street from the restaurant-on village green in the next town over from us) just as they were starting. There were a few faces I recognized. The first person to wave as us was a member of the group.  :D ;D ;D  He was standing on stage waiting to start and gave us a wave. How cool is THAT?!!  I then saw one guy walk by who looked like my best friend's husband (who I haven't seen in YEARS). About 5 minutes later or so, I got attacked by hug. Then I saw who was hugging me-my best friend's kids (the same ones who ALWAYS come to Spring Fling). I went with them to see their mother. She was working a "booth" for the Boy Scouts, selling food. She told me she works it every Tuesday (while they have the Concerts on the Green during the summer).

I also saw a woman who I worked with when I was at the food shelf. She is working on a teen center that will be right next door to us. I asked her if she needed help. She did-gave me their brochure and told me to give her a call. So, I may be volunteering again.

Throughout the concert, I was taking photos. When the concert was over, I went up to one of the members and told him that I will send them a CD of all the photos I took. He was thrilled. He said that if they use any of the photos, they would give me credit. I said that is all I ask.

Then we came home, watched Rachel Maddow and the elections returns.  :D ;D ;D ;D

We do not have one around  :P  I have looked at Macy, Dillard's, and Nordstrom's online nothing that I see that works  (there are a lot that seem to be "evening gowns" but in small sizes, not quite what I am look for for little girls - more of a ballgown with all the frills, ruffles, sequins and bows to have them more girlish) Does this makes sense, probably not  :P

I am not seriously creative...  I can make things work in an emergency, but that is about it (otherwise sequins, ribbons, and rhinestones will be falling off throughout)

Here are some ideas - again, we have got to get it in the right price range (so I am looking consignment, clearance - and I have to have it by the end of July so custom made, even if I could afford it, is not an option).

Heck - these are some of the "less glam" ones...  I wish I had the time, patience and talent to glam up a dress :P  Funny things is, we do not buy dresses for Easter, concerts, pictures, weddings or even Christmas (they get outfits, but things that they will wear again and again) :D

Yep done that - notta... and Yep, doing that (online).   I am trying them all.  I am online looking at consignment shops.  As I have to go about 45 minutes for the nearest consignment shop (so I only hit them, every now and then - so it is hit or miss).  As long as the piece is in decent shape, I am OK (I am not handy enough for repairs).

It just takes time...  The right dress, for the right money, at the right time.  In the meantime - I have 3 (or 4 and if I count the flower girl dresses as well 6) dresses I should put on consignment.

Going out to the boat today-finish cleaning her up and put the BOOM up. Get her all ready so we can have our first over-nighter sometime next week (weather permitting of course).

The BOOM (big enough for ya, Midas?  ;) :D ;D ;D) is up. There is evidence that a little critter has taken up residence on the Big Dog. The toilet paper & paper towels were shredded, nut shells everywhere and little mousy poop all over the place.  ::) We found his nest but don't know if the mousy is still there-so we left some bait. If the bait is gone, the mousy is still there. If the bait is still there, then the mousy has gone.

I don't know how I did it, but I lost my blood glucose meter today.  I've had the thing, always knew where it was, for 3 years (since I've been diagnosed).  Today, I take my reading before my nurse comes to poke at me.  And it vanishes into thin air!  It feels like I've lost an appendage.  Hubby and I have been tearing this house apart looking for the damn thing and I finally admit defeat.  Turns out that I looked on walmart.com and a replacement meter will only be $20 (although all the data of the past two weeks is gone but oh well whatcha gonna do.)

BOOM?

BOOM!

Set either of these to the video of the whale being blown up with the dynamite, and you've got a winner.  There are no personal problems that cannot be solved without a suitable application of explosives.

So I got an e-mail turning me down on the job I applied for

In other news today I went into James's class for their end of year presentations.  As a surprise they had made James a goodbye book.  Every child and several teachers wrote a page and one of the room moms laminated the cover and bound it.

We had a collection for the teacher and (knowing she hopes to move house this summer) we gave her a storage box full of useful things for moving house such as bubble wrap, parcel tape, sharpies etc.

I asked her this morning when she came and she said that (at least in this area) the visiting nurses aren't allowed to take blood sugar readings because they are not a lab.  ??? :-\\  So I dunno.  I wasn't feeling good this morning so I texted the bride-to-be, and told her I would not be able to go to her shower today.  I apologized and told her I'd get her gift to her via her fiance or something.  I tried to go out and shop for stuff Thursday but nearly passed out after about a half hour of walking around.  :(  Got some stuff for the basket for her but not nearly everything I wanted to get.

Hospital bills are starting  to come.  OMG.  That is all I have to say.

I guess we're gonna go out and get me a new meter, see ya'll later.

We were supposed to go up north to see Granddaughter #1's dance recital but Carlos isn't feeling well (allergies/sinus) so we stayed home.

As we were reading the morning paper, we had a visitor to bird feeder attached to the window. We were shocked because of a few things: 1. We have had that feeder up for over a year and only had a handful of visitors. 2. The fact that it was such a beautiful bird and we have never seen the likes of one before. Didn't know what kind-until I just did the research.

It was a male rose-breasted grosbeak. Unfortunately, I wasn't fast enough with the camera to get the shot and even if I did, it probably would have been a lousy shot anyway because it had to go through dirty windows (the window & storm window). But this is what it looked like:

pretty bird, Cat!  (That sounds funny)

I'd like to put up a bird feeder but it would just be torture for my indoor cats who spend 90% of their time in the windows.

I found my old blood glucose meter.  It was in my purse (which is all black and the wallet thing is all black) but I swear I patted around inside my purse 3 times and did not find it.  We went and bought a new one yesterday, so now I've got a spare.  lol  I'm such a ditz sometimes.
I slept on the couch most of the day today and am STILL tired.  I hope I get some energy soon, I hate being a sloth.

don't forget the lemon in your tea as well - then you get the added power packing punch to help your soar throat, and Vitamin C 8)

I love my Sweet dreams tea (mint, chammomile, and hibiscus) with lemon and honey - I start downing it at the sign of a cold (like 12-20 cups) and it seems to help!

Plans are going forward to leave for California this Saturday.  My aunt is hanging in there, but it sounds like everything is just getting worse and worse.  She keeps having seizures.  They put a port in her head so they could put the chemo in without worrying about her having a seizure in the middle of a treatment.  They are feeding her through an IV, and she is pretty much sleeping all the time.  She's in so much pain though that she moans and cries in her sleep. :-\\

I'm counting the days until we can leave.  I'm keeping myself busy as hell just to get through the time that is left.

There was some excitement for my cousin this weekend.  She got to carry the Relay torch during the survivor's lap at the Relay For Life.  My aunt was supposed to do it, but couldn't since she's fighting for her life again.  So they asked my cousin to go in her place.

Met friends for coffee/tea and then lunch.    Ran some errands in town (including sorting out our mail delivery whilst in temporary accomodation).

Went into James's class to read to them.  Since it's nearly the end of term I read a few school themed poems.
Thanks, and you are such a great parent (I would love to have you assist my class!)  Good luck packing :)

I am getting better!  I only feel like I am laying on a golf ball when I laydown (or sit back against the seat), which is odd as my husband says there is no swelling, or bruising there (right on my shoulder blade).  It is very tender to the touch, and wakes me up if I roll over on it.  My back is scratched and my arm has a huge bruise.  But atleast my back does not feel like it needs any adjusting or anything!  Hopefully it all goes away soon!

yesterday I phoned AT&T to cancel our account.  Today I had an automated phone call with a survey to find out why I had cancelled the account.  It was going o.k. until I was asked to enter the 5 digit zip code of where I would be moving to.  So I entered nothing and got "You appear to have made an invalid entry.  Please try again.  Enter the five digit zip code of your new location".  Again I entered nothing and got the exact same message, over and over.  The thought that, gasp, someone might leave the US altogether just hadn't occured to whoever set up the system.  I hung up after being asked six times!

I hate that!

When I first moved to Santa Barbara I belonged to a gym in Stockton (yes I used to go to the gym)
I called them to cancel my membership b/c I moved. I got a letter few days layer saying they were sorry to see me cancel my membership and they offered me discounts to sign up again. I wonder what part of I moved five hours away they didn't understand during the first phone call.

I had a similar thing with cancelling our newspaper subscrition.  "What can we do to get you to keep your subscription?"  I thought about asking if they delivered to the UK for the same price!

Grrr - Just opened up our camper - and it seems as if one of our vent covers got blown off in some storm (we have only had about 10 of them in the past month) and bedding, mattress, pillows and such got soaked.  We didn't know it and mildew has grown everywhere - not sure if memory foam is resistant to mildew (which is what the mattress is made out of).  I am trying to clean blankets and sheets as well as possible :P

If it has left brown dots/stains after washing they won't come out. They aren't dangerous in anyway it just looks bad. :-\\

do you get Miltons Fluid in the U.S?

I tried non chlorine bleach - Biz, and soaked ...  it is odd it is like there are both the black/grey spots and bleached out marks as well (Not sure if that was the sun beating down through the open vent hole) and even holes burnt through... I know I can not really repair them 100% but s much as possible (they are just sheets for the camper).  I washed them in chlorine bleach - and my one bedspread I would like to have "clean" and I washed it twice, and still spots (now I am going to try and hang it out in the bright sunshine)...

Do not think I have ever seen the Milton product, I will have to see if we have something similar...

So last night was my leaving do with all the Brits.  Kinda weird doing that now because we're here for at least another month or so.  Anyway it was so my gifts could be shipped back to the UK.  I'm not sure I could have taken a fire pit as a carry-on item!

Spending the next couple of days moving into the temporary accomodation, selling/giving away items we don't want to take back home (small items of furniture, holiday decorations, electricals, toys) and throwing away a ton of stuff.  I basically want to get it so that when the packers/movers come on Monday we can say pack everything in that room or only that pile needs to be packed.

This morning was the eldest last day at fishing camp, (put on by the county conservation office) and families were invited out to fish, clean them and then have a fish fry for lunch.  So off Me and the youngest went with.  Eldest has not caught a fish this whole week (I think her problem is, she would rather run for stuff, than keep her pole in the water).  After a few attempts and snags.  We found a good spot and caught 5 bluegill, Eldest caught 2 and Youngest caught 3...  Beautiful morning, nice and sunny!

Well after a not too bad start to the day we had a crappy afternoon!

I met Dai at lunchtime at the apartment building where we'll be living for a few weeks.  On the drive there the car was a bit odd.  It seemed to overaccelerate as I pulled out of the drive and it was making a sort of grinding noise occasionally.  Anyway, after looking around the apartment, we get in the car to go for lunch.  I put the car in reverse and it doesn't seem to work - the car won't go backwards.  So I put it into park then back into reverse and the car lurches backwards then stops then lurches backwards again.  I manage to kangaroo out of the parking spot, put the car into drive and the grinding noise is now definitely worse.  So we decide to drive straight to the garage.

Leave the car at the garage, walk up to Subway for lunch.  Dai had lent his car to a colleague so we call him to find out he'll be back around 2 p.m.  Slight problem with that - I was supposed to meet James from school at 1.55!!  So we call a friend and arrange for James to go home on another bus.  Dai's car comes back and we drive to my friends house.  James hasn't long arrived so we agree to stay for a short while so he can play.  But we need to leave to be home for 3 when Elizabeth gets in.

My cell phone rings after about 5 minutes.  It's Elizabeth!  She finished school an hour and a half earlier than normal and I hadn't known.  She'd waited until James should have got home and went to meet the bus.  Also she thought she could ask the bus driver for help, because I still wasn't home.  But when the bus sailed straight past she panicked.  Then she saw a neighbour (we don't really know any of them very well but she'd seen him before walking his dog) so she asked him for help.  She called Dai's cell phone (but misremembered the number), he drove her to a friends house nearby (they weren't home), then she called the school to ask for my cell phone number.  Bless her heart, she was in a state.

We came straight home and apologised a lot!  Then Elizabeth adn I made brownies so we could take some to the neighbour as a thank you.

Sami sorry about your sheets and stuff..... If it were me I'd go to kmart or Wally world and get a new set on sale...  ;)  but I also buy clothes in lieu of doing laundry so you know....don't go by me.

Karen what a day! I'm glad miss elizabeth survived the ordeal. and that there were brownies afterward!  That is a good argument for why kids should be allowed cell phones but I think they should only have them for emergencies and programmed to call mom, dad, one family friend and 911.  They used to make ones for little kids...don't know if they still do tho.

I am going to LA for a My Three Sons reunion...

Last night was Robert Morse but I was too tired to go to that. hopefully my friend got me autographs...

The night before Rona Barrett put on her one woman show.... It was pretty good. Great clips in between all the talking. In the audience with me as Nancy Dussault, Ann Jeffreys, Ed Ames, Mitzi Gaynor, Ruta Lee, Bo Derek, Stephanie Powers, and few other celebs I heard were there but I didn't see... I have since forgotten who they were.

The night before that was Room 222.  Karen Valentine And Denise Nicholas were there... as well as the chick who was a student with ponytails and the white dude with the fro (he's balding now)  in the audience was Frances Fisher (I have a great pic with her...)  Anna Marie Johnson (I have an okay pic with her)  and Robert Hays sat next to us... Also I got a pic with Asaad Kelada (If you don't recognize the name then go back and watch practically any sitcom from the 80s he probably directed it....) my personal favorite Facts of Life...
Oh yeah James L Brooks was there too... I got his autograph but no pic.

Sorry if any of this is duplicate info I have forgotten what I typed the last time I was online....

should be fine.  There are three programs of sounds and the one program I have so far would take the Bee Gees and make them not sound so high.  Anyone with a low foice is even harder to hear.  I'm being told this takes getting use to and stuff and I need to practice, but I'm not really sure how much practice I'm going to need because it seems I can tell how it works.  Anyway, get the programs then I can have fun.

Spent the day at house whilst the packers put everything in boxes or wrapped it in bubble wrap or both!

They will finish off tomorrow and then stick everything in the container.

We have been staying in a hotel because the apartment isn't quite ready.  Unfortunately the hotel is full tomorrow so we need to move into the apartment anyway.

My car needs a new transmission - that's what all the funny noises were about on Friday.  The car is less than three years old and has only done about 35,000 miles.  Dai reckons we've been pronouncing the name wrong.  It's a Dodge Grand Caravan, but we should pronounce the final 'e' in dodge - "Dodgy"!! Also the 'j' in Jeep should be said the Spanish way - "Heep"  ;D

Yesterday, we emptied the dinning room. All the furniture is out as well as all the stuff on the walls. We were going to put the table in the spare bedroom (on top of the bed) but we couldn't get it in the door. So we brought it outside on the porch. The room now echos. The cats don't know what is going on. It was so funny because Electra was yowling in there and her voiced just echoed.  ;D ;D ;D

In a short time (within the next hour), the floor is going to be sanded and then polyurethaned. We decided not to have it stained-just going natural. This will take a few days since we have to wait a while for each coat to dry. Then on Friday, the room is going to be painted. YAY!!!! I have been wanting to have this done for over a year now.

Oh, and tomorrow we are going to an auction and MAYBE buying a new/old table (an antique). It doesn't really scream at me but it has four leaves which is what I want-so we have room for when ALL the kids come for dinner. It depends of what it goes for.

I met Eddie, Lumpy, Wally & the Beav last night. It was great fun!

I'm keeping Patty in my thoughts.  Hope she has a speedy recovery!  :)

The furniture went today.  :\'(

(driving to the house the song Photograph by Nickleback came on the radio and I was nearly bawling my eyes out in the car  :-[)

Spent most of the day cleaning.  Picked up a hire car for Dai so we can have a car each again.  Moved into the apartment.  Need to spend tomorrow finishing off cleaning the house and taking all the rubbish to the dump.

I hate when songs come on the radio, and I am driving and blubbering like a baby....  Sometime's a single song can be sooo emotional!

oh and apparently... the reason June wore pearls is because Barbara Billingsley had a thin neck and the way the show was lit there was a dark spot on her neck because of the way her bones stuck out creating a concave effect but the pearls would reflect the light making her neck look full or normal or something.... fascinating eh?

No, this wasn't a truck going by. I know what a truck going by feels like and this wasn't it. At first I thought that it was my cat jumping on the back of the chair. I asked Carlos, "What is that?" He said, "I think it is an earthquake." It lasted about 30 seconds or so. It wasn't very strong. Either we are very far from the epicenter or it was extremely deep.

seriously? I love earthquakes!

This is the second one we have had since I have been living here. This one wasn't as bad as the first one (which woke us up one Saturday morning). I did report it.

It's June 24th. I'm in line for an iPhone. Been here for an hour. They open in 30 mins.
Sure hope I get out in time for work...

It was a valiant effort on my part but it just isn't going to happen. The line didn't move for an hour.
They were taking 1 "walk up" for every 50 pre orders. At least 200 in the pre order line and about 100 ppl in front of me. If I didt have to work til 11 I coulda made it.

They are making a Rube Goldberg device (I am not sure what it does, they won't tell me - I have to go to the inventor's showcase tomorrow).  They are making a robotic pet.  And building a city for the avatar's that they created - complete with water and electricity (they have harnessed power through water - and made aquaducts ) and they learned about solar power (with some damn chemical, that captures the sun - invisible; but at night glows; seems my youngest got it all over - and now various spots of my house glow at night...).  And they are learning about culture (and ancient games, and talking drums, and musical sticks, lacross and etc...) because their cities have to have some form of entertainment.

They are having a blast!  And this morning, my daughter "Mom what does LED stand for?"  I told my friend I would get this question right, because my mom know's all of this weird stuff....  I am getting the prize for answering the question of the day - chants the whole 1/2 hour to camp  - light emitting diode  ::)

I didn't get the new (old) table at the auction last night. The bidding went up too high. That is ok because the table didn't scream at me. I'm sure the right table will come along at the right price. I did, however get a set of 4 chairs. I THOUGHT they were antiques but after doing a little research, I think they are only about 30 years old or so-but they are in an antique style (with embroidered seat-similar to something my grandmother had) and I got it for an OUTSTANDING price. Even though they are NOT antiques, I still love them-and that is all that counts. Now, to find a table to go with them.

Home from Hospital Stay part 2:Electric Boogaloo

Thank you all for kind thoughts and prayers, I truly believe that they help!

Kinda exhausted and a little sore but, at least I'm home in my filthy house.  yay!

We need to find some couch cushions somewhere.  :-\\

Glad you made it safely to Cali Jess.  VERY  sorry about your aunt's condition.

karen, I was so weepy when I moved from my apartment two years ago to my house.  That kinda snuck up on me.

I felt the earthquake in the hospital too, at first I thought that perhaps the hospital was doing some construction, but quickly realized what it was (even though it was a very small swaying by the time it reached da burgh!)

Glad to be home, my one cat actually came when I called it (the other took a message and got back to me later)  lol

Took a ride to the garden center today, on the way we saw television news crews and pulled over because we have plenty of time and we were curious.  Turned out to be the funeral of the granny, mother, and 2 children, murdered by daddy dearest.  It was way too sad, we left.  All I could think of was how glad it wasn't me walking into that church.

Just had some bad news.  My grandad died yesterday.  To be honest it's not totally unexpected, in that he's had a series of strokes and has been in a nursing home for about 5 years.  I don't know the exact cause yet, apparently my uncle visited him and he was in good spirits, looking forward to watching a World Cup game.  half an hour after my uncle left he got a phone call to say he'd passed away.

I'm sorry Karen,my condolences.  :(

Cat - I'm happy that you are getting your home improvements done at last.  I would love to start some of our own...Everything in due time, I guess.  :-\\  Have fun at the concert, sounds like a really great one.

I overdid it today.  I moved around too much, and now I'm so sore.  Hubby bought us another couch since I kinda bled all over the other one.  :-[  And we haad it delivered, which meant clearing out most of the living room in order to make room for the delivery guys.  Hubby single-handedly moved the old couch out.  I knew I could not help with that, but I moved the end table and everything on and under it.  (including boxes stowed there from moving.  Hubby doesn't want the coffee table back there again, forcing me to figure out where the hell to put it all now.  ugh.  It'll work out.

It's a beautiful couch.  He picked it out.  Very good taste.

Our wall in our kitchen has been busted open a few hours ago by my Father,What had happened was I was upstairs and then all of a sudden I heard a *boom*or a*smash* from downstairs and then I come into the kitchen and I see the wall in the kitchen caved in and now it almost looks like a scene you'd see from a comedy film.My Father was looking for something on the floor, went to sit down for a moment and then all of a sudden his huge backside sitting in the chair and the chair with his huge backside went straight into the wall caving it in leaving a humongous gap there.Geez, this house cannot stay stable anymore.  ::)

Yeah I am!  I've got boxes to go through on my new couch.  lol

In other news, I'm blond again.  Needed a change that doesn't involve hospitals.  Will probably go back to being a redhead next month.

Went through my huge stack of neglected mail tonight and found that my Steelgrave (HawktheSlayer's band's brand new cd) came while I was in the hospital.  Got to listen to it yet.  Maybe tomorrow as I am going through boxes.

YOU TOO can own a cpy of the cd for $5 (U.S.)  Ask me how.  ;D

They will be at the Iowa State Fair... AND you can try bacon on a stick, pork chop on a stick, and turkey drumstick (from the Iowa Turkey Federation; I won't let you go to any other imitation, over priced drumstick stand), and basically anything else you want on a stick...  I will steer you clear from the cheese on a stick though  ;)

Not really in much pain today (little twinges when I moved and my big old buddha belly doesn't move with me.  (I need to put that thing on wheels or some kind of crane system)  :P
I think I forgot to say that (in a piece of good news for a change) doctors cut all my various insulin dosages by half of what I'd been taking (since diagnosis in 2006).  Apparently I am getting better at controlling that at least.

I attempted to dye my hair blond last night (to clarify, I was a blond for the first 30 years of my life, but since hubby loves redheads, I thouht that I could use a bit of a change and turn auburn for awhile...)  Well last night, I thought I had left th dye on long enough, but apparently only long enough to dye my roots blond.  :-\\ ???  I may have to buy another box of dye and try for a more even look... or just keep it this way and be the eccentric old lady with the hair of many colors... I once had pink/dusty rose colored hair so I'm used to being  odd.  lol

Patty-congrats on the new couch but please, take it easy.

Howard-sorry about the wall but I'm glad you dad is ok. Carlos did that one time only it was his head that went through the wall.  :o :o :o

As for the concert last night-Pat really ROCKED the place. Unfortunately for both Pat & REO, they had the music & bass up WAY TOO high. You couldn't really hear Pat's amazing voice. Carlos asked why rockers feel that they have to make you go deaf in order for you to enjoy the music.  I took lots of photos (what else is new  ;) :D ;D ;D ). I'll have some of them up shortly (still haven't taken them out of the camera yet). Overall it was a great concert but I think it could have been better if they lowered the amps & bass just a bit.

Howard, glad your father isn't injured, but I'll admit it was a funny story.

Yesterday we went with friends to the CT science centre, including a talk from Walter Wick, who does the I Spy (not the ones the UK readers are thinking of I bet!) books.  He explained how he came up with idea and how he creates the amazing photographs.  Afterwards Elizabeth and a friend made a design using his ideas and finished it just as he entered the room.  Elizabeth asked him to come and have a look and he took a photo of them with it for his records.

Hi all.  Just got back from Puerto Vallarta last night and had a wonderful time.  I just love it down there - it's so gorgeous and the people are so lovely.  I was sad to come home for many reasons, one of which is that I came home to some terrible news - a lifelong friend of mine was killed in a plane crash yesterday.  It's just devastating.  It looks like a lot of us are losing loved ones right now.  :\'(

The fairy here produces 1 gold dollar (for keeping), and then a regular dollar bill to spend per tooth.  I remember the first time the eldest lost a tooth, the smallest thing we had was a $5 (I was like - NO WAY are we giving out $5 for every tooth).  So Hubby ran to the gas station to get some change, meanwhile I remembered I had some gold dollars in my jewelry box doing nothing...  (I still have all my fifty sent pieces from when I was little and losing teeth)

She is a little sad though - sweet corn season has just started, and she wants corn on the cob ;D

I thought this was only occurred in houses were there are boys under the age of 8 (after that, "appearance" is everything)?  I guess I was worried, it was going to happen at a worse location, so the story ended better than expected  :D  But really Howard, some information we (or at least speaking for myself - I) can do without!

Do you expect me to get a dirty Dunkin Donuts cup from on the bus and pee in there and leave it on the seat? ::)

What I was doing was trying to move from seat to seat to keep cool and calm so I don't wind up exploding but I peed a little just to relieve the tension in my bladder.

Inflation - heck you can barely get a candy bar for under a dollar anymore - and I don't know of any penny candy around :P  When we were growing up, we used to have "dimestores"; kid's today only know The Dollar Store...

My nearly 3-yr old nephew is doing quite well at the potty training this summer.  He doesn't pee on the driveway and only uses the backyard if he's out by the pool with family  :D

Hey, that's my line.

I talked to my sister yesterday. She was very distracted-which is expected. I told her we couldn't go down for the funeral and she said not a problem. I asked her if she would like us to go down next week. She said that she can't think about next week and just needs to get through this week. I told her that I would call her next week.

"Dawg" called me last night to give me the lowdown (she was there when I called our other sister). Our sister is trying to hold it together but it seems her husband is not doing too well. He doesn't think that anyone pain is as bad as his and how dare other people grieve for his brother. He is even fighting with his other brother. They usually have their annual 3rd of July party. My brother-in-law was thinking of having it anyway but he didn't realize that it was the day after the funeral. "Dawg" told me that it is just as well that we can't go down for the funeral. My mother is going to be there which will be a nightmare in itself and it seems like my brother will also be going. They don't really need me there, too. She doesn't think that going down next week is necessary because both our sister & brother-in-law will be going back to work and if we do go down, we would only see them for about 30 minutes or so. I will call-if for nothing else just to let her know that I love her. I just hope that my sister & her husband find some peace.

Good news - I think I found a dress for dear daughter, and it is not costing me too much - and I am supporting a stay at home mom

what do you think, for a princess to give her final farewell???

I have got a headache and if it is caused by what I think it is-it is a good thing (in a round about way). Our dinning room is FINALLY getting painted. YAY!!!! I think it is the smell of the paint that is giving me a headache. BOO!!!!!! But, the painting should be done tomorrow. YAY!!!!

When the painting is done, the room is basically a blank canvas to do with what we want. We have decided that we don't want to put the runner that was there back nor do we want to put all the coat pegs back up (maybe half of them-MAYBE. We haven't decided yet). We want to get a new (old) table & we already got the side by side. I want to get my grandmother's china cabinet but Carlos still isn't sure. We also need a new rug for in front of the door (where the old runner was). I am SOOOOO excited about it all and I have the feeling that the dinning room may be my favorite room after we are done. And yes, I will post some photos.  :D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I second that. We have some painting projects that we'd like to get done, including one wall in the living room, but we haven't set aside any time to do that yet. Maybe later this year we might get to it. Still, I agree that making progress is good.

Thank you, everyone.  I'm in charge of the slideshow for the memorial, and it is really bloody hard to look at all these pictures.  I mean, I'm GLAD I'm doing it because I'm sure it is that much harder for my cousin or uncle to try and concentrate on it, but damn.  So many memories.

I just really effin' hate cancer right now.  I know a lot of you feel the same way.

Also, I just experienced watching someone slowly die over two weeks, and I'm not sure how I feel about that.  I think I gained a whole new appreciation for the life I have and the love I give and receive.

Well it's July now and I'm watching the northern edge of "Alex" dump water and blow wind.  In a few days I'll watch myself sweat in the heat and count sweat beads once the wet and slightly cooler weather passes as "Alex" moves across and out of Mexico taking the northern bands along with it.  Then I don't know what I'll do when summer gets here.  Heat stroke sounds like a good way to pass the time.  .
