I have a hard time wishing anyone a "happy" Memorial Day. It is ironic that we "celebrate" a somber occasion with parades, BBQs, etc. I am happy that my town has their celebration on Saturday so we can enjoy it and then on Memorial Day I can honor those who have given their lives for this country.
I hope that everyone at 3 p.m. (local time) will stop whatever it is they are doing and just pause for a moment of silence for those men & women who did not come home. And if you prey, please prey for PEACE!!!

I thought I was the only one who thought this. I get the impression many Americans just see the holiday as a start to the summer and forget the real reason for it.
