There were several other Mr. Men characters, including Mr. Happy, Mr. Greedy, Mr. Nosy, Mr. Dizzy... all of whom had behaviors based upon their names.

Did 'Mr.Bump' join in the end? I have been out of the loop for so long I don't know who's been and gone, lol. Hope he stayed. :)

Ah, yes...This takes me back to my childhood. Old skool.  8)

Jeff (nally) is correct. There were a lot of Mr.Men and Little Misses, all with their own individual personality traits and quirks all invented by Mr Roger Hargreaves inspired by his son who asked him what a tickle looked like.

Here are a list of characters. Click on them for their profile.

Nope, he still hasn't joined. All he did was make a couple more posts in the Favorite Youtube Clip of the Day thread in MTAD.

I wonder if that was the inspiration for the "Mr Tickle" character??

Oh yes...the whole lineup. I've heard of most of the characters (and read their little individual books), but not all of them yet. Takes me back to my childhood days too. :)

There was those books with a 'talking' penis that were illustrated in a similar style.  :-\\

They made that into a Cartoon Network cartoon. Or was the cartoon their first appearance...

I'm not sure. I do know that the Mr. Men characters and their associated books were published beginning in the 1970's. The very first one was Mr. Tickle.

They must not have appeared in animated form until much later, since the "Mr Men and Little Miss Show" was a UK-based television program that ran during the second half of the 1990's, according to what I found on Wiki.

From what I remember it was a very recent show, looked like 2008/2009 art style to me.

Oh yes, there was one of those, too. There was one made in the 90's and another one made in the late 00's. So there were two different programs with pretty much the same premise.

Yep, it was.

No, Philip. There was the Mr Men series, Little Miss series and the rarely seen Timbucktoo series featuring various animals with onomatopeias (sound words) for their names...e.g a duck called 'Quack'.

They must not have appeared in animated form until much later, since the "Mr Men and Little Miss Show" was a UK-based television program that ran during the second half of the 1990's, according to what I found on Wiki.

There were three series from what I remember...

The old version was an animated telling of Roger Hargreaves books narrated by Arthur Lowe. For me, this era had drawings that were polished with bold outlines, colours and shapes. I believe the drawings changed slightly when his son took over (eyes looked smaller with the marks either side and bodies became more curvier - especially Mr Greedy and Mr Nosey's body despite retaining the same colour scheme).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nEzTTfhLcwA

There was also the Little Miss series in the early 80s narrated by John Alderton and Pauline Collins. This was set in a similar way to the Mr Men series.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wc3SGTeo_RU

The newest series was shown on Five in the UK. In some ways, the drawings retained the original design but characters got makeovers (Mr Lazy, Mr Small, Mr Nosey yet again and Mr Strong), some added characters were included (Mr Nervous, Mr Rude, Little Miss Woops...). I'm not a fan of the makeovers or the added characters. Including all of the old Mr Men would have been enough. The concept to this show was better than the straight to animation narration of the Hargreaves books even if more work was neccessary on the script.

Spanish slang, perhaps? But not the official translation.

All languages have their own slang terminology for various words.

The funny thing about Pingu is that you can't understand a word he or any other character in the show says. It's gibberish!
