Last night, just as the front door got really busy, the phone rang. It was one of my best friends that I haven't talked to in a while. So, I am in the dilemma-wanting to see all the trick-or-treaters or talk to my best friend. Carlos was taking care of the door. My friend said that she realized the time after I answered the phone. (She is in Alaska.) I talked to her for a while but then told her that I should get going. I'll call her back in a bit.

Yeah, because we turned the light on on the FRONT porch-and kept the light off on the SIDE porch. We usually use the side porch. We used to hand out the candy there but a few years ago, we thought it would be easier to just use the front. However, I think early in the evening (before it got dark), someone did come to the side door but soon realized they had the wrong door.

The same kind I get EVERY year-Hershey's. I get 10 bags of the regular snack size. :o :o :o :o I also get a bag or two of peanut butter cups for Carlos and a bag or two of the Hershey's with almonds for me. But, they didn't have the ones with almonds.  :\'( :\'( :\'( So, I got a bag of the regular for me. Of course I will steal a few of the peanut butter cups.  ;)

We get so many kids that we usually run out even with 10 bags.  :o :o :o I think last year was the first year that we DIDN'T run out.

I don't care for salt either. (Read the very first post in the Rant thread.) I have "trained" my "chef" not to use salt in his cooking. He keeps the salt on the table and uses it there because he knows I don't like it.

Carlos has a doc appointment today. When he gets home, we will know if his doc & his wife will be coming over for dinner tonight. Later this afternoon, we will go and vote and then tonight, we will be glued to the t.v.-whether we have guests or not.

For all of you in the U.S. PLEASE remember to vote! It is VERY important and it is extremely important NOT to vote Republican this year. They are trying to take away our democracy.

I hope your new kitchen turns out much better than our new kitchen. We have to have it redone and I hope we can do it before it falls apart-SERIOUSLY. It really is falling apart already. The guy was served by the sheriff (again) to either pay us right away or appear in court on Dec. 2nd. He failed to appear once already.

I have Bertch cabinets they are Cherry wood with Chestnut finish and a black glaze  in St Thomas style ..
The countertop is a faux slate laminate (a gray-green, rust type of coloring),  I am putting sheet copper for the backsplash (I would love glass tile - but I am trying to cut some costs and I LOVE copper - the tiles I want are copper on the back of glass... but oh well).  I got lucky with the cabinets, they are a display model that the contractor wants a new display - so we got custom cabinets (solid wood) for 1/4 of the cost...  They made a plan to fit into our kitchen.  We are taking out a wall, and I will have an island in between our kitchen and dining room (which is open to our living room).  We have a stainless fridge, but our stove is white (10 years old- but won't replace at this time, due to cost)...  I am not sure about wall color - I am thinking a rust brown or red - but maybe not it maybe all too dark, so I will lighten it up...  Flooring???  I picked it out, but it was again being discontinued at Menards, and hubby never wanted to drive  to pick it up at a store that had enough for the kitchen all of the same die lot (and they wouldn't ship it).  So again not sure.  I am just trying to get my bang for my buck and make it look nice.  I have to buy a new microwave, as it is going to be wall unit.

As luck would have it the main actors from psych are on UCSB campus today. They are promoting the new season by screening next weeks premiere ep tonight. It's a ten campus tour and, I guess because the show is "set" in SB, UCSB is one of the lucky campuses to get them.

It's a student only event - no staff allowed period. Thank god I have friends in high places who can help me break the rules!!!

My computer was out of commission for a couple of days, after 4 years of abuse the hard drive died, so now I have a new hard drive and lost everything in the old hard drive.  My question is, should I have asked for the old hard drive back when they replaced it...AND now I have to get all the font and password settings back to normal.  He upgraded the operating system so it is kinda new to me.

As nally said, it is usually best to keep either a spare external hard-drive or CDs to back files on (DVD-RWs are good for handling large files like music or video files).

In my opinion, the man should have given the hard-drive back to you automatically or at the very least assured you the drive would be responsibly disposed of, Danoota. A used hard-drive, broken or not, is a very personal thing and still holds information valuable to people who want to use it for their own ends. I am not saying this man would do such a thing but, in this day and age, you just don't know.

Tonight we are going to the university to see the student organised firework display.  It is usually a good display, I just hope it doesn't rain or get toocold because they never start on time!

They also have a fairground but I don't know if you have to pay for the rides or not.  If you do we probably won't because next week is the annual street fair, which will be much bigger.

Ice-cream must be a real pain in the neck to eat, eh? People think I'm daft when I blow on icecream before I eat it but, in my mind, my breath is warmer than my ice-cream so it helps neutralise it a bit..,Well, it still feels cold so it must be psychological, lol.

Actually, it is fairly easy for me to eat ice cream because I don't need my teeth for it. However, if the ice cream DOES hit my teeth, it does hurt. It is the cold stuff that I have to bite into that really hurt.

Sorry Cat, I seem to remember that in passing on another thread a while back.  I should have trusted my gut on this one.  :-[  That is why I put it out as I did.  The Good Lord may not have blessed you with your own but I am sure that the grand kids are a great joy to you and in that way you are indeed still blessed.  Karma comes your way for putting up with my untimely sense of humor.  In hindsight I can see this as coming off cold or offensive - it was not my intention to be so.  I am sorry if I made you hurt in any way.

You didn't hurt me in any way what so ever. Most days I am fine that I never had any kids of my own-but there are some days.... :\'(  But, those 5 little ones (well, a few of them are not so little anymore-the oldest is 7) are just wonderful. A few months ago, I ask Carlos "When do I get used to being call 'Grandma'?"  :D ;D ;D  You should check out some of their photos in the "Show us your family" thread.

Oh, and karma right back at ya.

Cat thanks for your understanding and karma.  I have an anniversary of sorts this month...

I enlisted in the USAF on the 12th of November and flew to Lackland AFB, Texas on that day to enter boot camp.  I won't say what year it was but we were fighting the Vietnam War at that time.

The people are far more advanced then me and I haven't got myself to practice though.  I don't know if I told any of you that I've started a medicene for depression.  Wont really know for a month if it really helps me with anything, but if it helps my chemical imbalance in any way then it's a plus.  I've made a few changes in my diet.  People with ADHD cant digest pasteurized milk.  Sugar can bring on some real bad mood swings.  Another one they mention is stay away from yellow.  I've changed from a light butter popcorn to a salt and lime popcorn.  Smells like frootloops in the microwave.

We had a great time on Saturday night at the fireworks display.  Except, as predicted, they started the main show late and it was cold standing around waiting.  They changed the location of the display this year and good viewing locations were limited.  The organisers kept asking the crowd to move to the far end but no one would go there because you end up stood behind 20-30 foot tall poplar trees!

Then we cycled home and set off our own fireworks and waved a couple of sparklers about.  two or three doors away had some huge fireworks which really overshadowed our £5 box.  But the kids said ours were the nicest because they were done with the family!  bless 'em.

today the weather was foul.  Cold and wet cycling to school/work and my fingers still feel achey/sensitive.  After work I cycled to James's school for an open afternoon.  I worked with James making viking longboats out of plasticine and then one from paper, card and a half a juice carton.  All the mums were having fun colouring the cardboard shields in!

We cycled home and made hot chocolate.  Complaints from the kids about the lack of marshmallows and cream  ::)

AAAAUUUUUUUUGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

I'm sure everyone was sick of hearing my saga of my fight with my stupid computer. I know I was when I FINALLY broke down and bought a new one in Aug. Now this morning, my brand spankin' new computer WILL NOT TURN ON!!!!!! I called the Geek Squad. That wasn't much help-just had me reset things and of course that didn't work. So, the next thing-bring it into Best Buy. The problem is, Best Buy is at least an hour & half away from here-ONE WAY and looking outside, everything is white-no not snow, but SLEET! We are not going anyway today. So now I am on the laptop. (I am really glad that I bought this last year otherwise I would be going bonkers right now.) The thing is, I really hate how we have the laptop set up. We still don't really have a desk for it and is using a t.v. tray stand for it.

WHY CAN'T I HAVE A COMPUTER THAT WON'T GIVE ME A PROBLEM??!!!!

lime is one of the fruit loop scents.... lemon has always been the most powerful to me... whenever I get my car washed I choose the lemon air freshener because I think it makes my car smell like fruit loops.

Not a Mac?  I bought mine in August 2006 and had the very first un-self-fixable problem with my Mac last week, had to pay 250 for a new hard drive(parts and labor), in on Thursday back on Friday.  I expect this should keep me going for another 4 or 5 years.

Too much was (and actually still is) going on with my life.  Not only with everything that went on this past summer with my aunt and the devastating trip back to Cali, but I had to have two surgeries to repair my lap band, and dog willing, it will stay in place this time.  I've also been doing quite a bit of traveling to see my friend in Michigan, and now I'm planning a Turkey Day trip to NOO YAWK with the fam.

So yeah, I'm back.  I know you're thrilled.

Poor Patty.  :(

Not sure if they do this in America but I had a friend who had a wound that would not heal and they packed it with this particular sort of seaweed. Don't know the medical ins and outs, but in a nutshell, it helps the skin heal itself. It took quite a few weeks but it worked!! She said it was kind of weird but after that long with a gaping wound she didn't care.

I packed the computer up. We will be leaving here in about an hour & a half or so and drive north. We are going to stop at Best Buy and hopefully, they can fix the computer-and if not, be able to extract what is on it and give me a new one. I am worried about losing my "stuff." Then we are going to the kids house-have dinner with them and then we are going to see 1964, a Beatles tribute band. We saw them once before. They are pretty good. We will be spending the night with the kids.

Got to Best Buy yesterday and had to do something that I really didn't think about-stand in line for the Geek Squad. (There were only 2 geeks.) There was a really nice lady who was waiting behind us. Come to find out her son is a freshman at OUR college-so we had that in common and we talked for a while as we were waiting. When we finally got to talk to a geek, he opened the computer and said that it was possible that a wire had come loose. I was hoping soooo bad that that was the problem. No such luck. Because I bought the service contract, he had to send it off to be serviced rather than just giving me a replacement. I did buy an external hard drive so they can extract ALL my data out of. So, we left Best Buy without my computer.  :\'( :\'( :\'(

We got to the kids' house at the time we needed to leave for dinner. The restaurant that we went to was nice-food was good (been there once before) but service was AWFUL!!! I swear we had the slowest waitress in Burlington. First she forgot to bring us silverware. She also forgot to tell us to help ourselves to the salad bar (which we did anyway). We waited forever for our food. To be fair, it may not have been her fault. It could have been in the kitchen. After we FINALLY got our dinner and finished eating, we decided to have dessert. We ordered and then waited FOREVER again. By this time, it was getting closer & closer to the time when we had to leave. Carlos flagged her down and told her to bring our dessert because we were in a hurry. 10 minutes later we STILL didn't have our dessert!  >:( >:( >:(  Carlos finally went up to the desk and said to wrap it to go because we HAD to leave. The kids stayed to eat their desserts (she finally brought it AFTER Carlos paid-and the two of us were walking out the door). How long does it take to cut a piece of pie? Carlos didn't leave her much of a tip.

As we were driving to the concert, we missed it and had to turn around. There wasn't a lot of traffic and we were wondering if we had the right day or not. We finally found it. As we were walking in, the first person I saw pass right in front of us was our governor.  :o :o Carlos didn't see him but I pointed him out. The place wasn't very crowded like it had been for past concerts. (BTW, this was a firefighter fundraiser.) We were able to get good seats. We sat down, took off our coats and just after getting settled, the lights went out. We got there RIGHT ON TIME!

The concert was REALLY good. The opening act was a guy named Andy Childs. He sounded like Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, & Willy Nelson. NO SH!T!!! He did them ALL just great! During intermission, we bought his CD and which he signed. The main act, 1964 The Tribute, we saw once before (we saw Andy Childs before, too). They were good. It was almost like seeing John, Paul, George, & Ringo on stage. They sounded like them and looked somewhat like them. They had their mannerisms down. It was way cool. We also danced. Yeah, I took a bunch of photos. I'll post them later. After the concert, we went back to my step-daughter's place for the night and had our dessert.

Since it will be a while until I get the computer back, I hooked the laptop up to the cable hookup so we now have faster internet.

We've been having some computer issues.  I'm trying to persuade Dai we need to do something radical like actually get the thing looked at instead of putting up with various problems.

Anyway.  Every year at this time our town holds a fair in the town centre.  Yesterday we let Elizabeth loose with some friends and some money!  It was by way of a birthday party - she turns 12 on Tuesday!

Dai and I walked around the fair with James and went on some rides with him.  His favourite was Magic Mouse which is a roller coaster with individual carriages holding four people.  The track has really tight turns on it and for part of the ride the carriage is free to spin like a waltzer (not sure what the US equivalent is).

Afterwards everyone came back to the house for pizza and a movie.  Except we couldn't get sound on the DVD so we played Pictionary instead.  I think that was more fun than watching the film would have been.

Today was Rembrance Sunday and both children paraded through the town to the war memorial.  Elizabeth laid a poppy wreath on behalf of her Scout Group.  It got cold standing around outside for a couple of hours.

They had to cut the power to the switch that controls our kitchen lights (and dining room) - as that wall is coming down.  Funny thing, my husband was here, the tv's didn't even blink.  But we have no lights in both bedrooms (except the girls closet works), 1 bathroom, and the living room (along with kitchen and dining room)... Luckily some of the outlets work, so we have lamps, but really sorta difficult getting ready in the morning.  I am a little bit thankful for time change right now.

Sounds like my house...  We have no ceiling lights, since they cut the power to the kitchen wall (except the dining room that they hard wired on, and a closet light and my bathroom)...  Some of the outlets don't work, miraculously the tv's do and we are stringing extension chords around.

Thankfully it was just a breaker in our case.  We had to wait a couple of hours for the building maintenance, though.  No one in our office knew where the main breaker box was so we couldn't flip the right breaker.  We searched it out when the lights came back on. ;D

Finally home.  Discharge Nurse was a bit scattered.  She started to work on paperwork to discharge me, then stopped to do just a few things, forgot to give me my insulin shot until hours later and finally finished the process 5 hours later.  I was just about ready to jump behind the desk and do the damn paperwork myself.  ::) ;D  Yeah, not feeling much better and it hasn't helped my demeanor any either.  lol

Yes they have a processed, frozen food.  Can get them for 2 for 5 alot of times (still seems expensive for a family of 4). They also have chicken Kiev and broccoli cheese (sorry q)...  I will look in the fresh food.  I have never seen them, but if the price is high that might explain why I skip right over them!

They do have them here. I have bought them many times -well, when I lived by myself. Now Carlos does the shopping but he does make them himself-just without the breading-which is fine by me because I actually prefer them without the breading.

So I had to walk around for a half-hour while I was getting ready for work with that song stuck in my head until I could get out the door and into my car and turn on the radio.

TGIF!

But today is going to be such a rough day!  I have potluck, my 8th grade exploratory's last day!  My husband got an emergency call last night (something was wrong with one of the units) so he had to go in at 12:00 ( he has a habit of falling asleep at the wheel) so I worried a bit (he stayed there and slept on the table, so I didn't have to worry back)... Last off my husbands uncle (to an aunt, I am not really crazy about - as she reminds people who her blood is and my husband was adopted by her brother, his father died when he was three), is laying in hospice with pneumonia that will end his life at anytime.  As he has severe alzheimers, suffering from severe dementia and had several small strokes, the end was near.  They are not treating the pneumonia, or intubating, they are keeping him comfortable with morphine...  It is all sad and hard and I hope he can find peace soon, as well as hubby's aunt.  I just hope she does not expect me to be her friend (they had no family of her own).  I have watched her rain down presents on our niece (the blood in the family) and give my girls 2nd hand store items!  I have watched her say at our nieces baby shower, well you know she is our only blood...  I have no patience for that, as I was a step/half family myself!  I have been treated with more respect by my mothers ex husband (my sisters and brothers dad) than she has ever shown!  I loved her husband who was a kind, hardworking man, who would sit and talk to me at family reunions...  She is a control freak with hoarder tendencies (her house has a trail), who wants people to believe that she is a good christian, that is loving and caring...  I won't let her control my life, my children's lives (she has tried to tell me what I should and shouldn't do), and that is the way it will always be!

I guess I have ranted enough!  Today is filled with blessings and hardships, I have to trust that someone will make it the best of what it is!

Thanks.  She, and others, do not see what is wrong.  My husband says, that just the way it has always been.  I find it completely hateful, and demoralizing, my children know no different than the others (they know she is their aunt).  I am half tempted to say out loud and tell them "but not by blood".. . Figuring I would look like the b--ch, I have decided against it.  But so help me if she confronts me, I will not hold back on letting loose.  She is not my blood, in no way shape or form... I am just an out-law.  :P

I don't understand how anyone can be that way. I think EVERY family have members who are "not by blood." Can you say, "In Laws"? There are also remarriages, adoptions, etc. etc. Blood does not make a family. All my grandchildren are "not by blood" but I couldn't love them anymore than I already do. And Carlos' kids-they all know that they can come to me for ANYTHING. In fact, several times my youngest step-daughter has called to talk to ME-not to Carlos.

That aunt's a bitch and personally I'd be happy not to be blood related to her.

I have been in a tactical dispatching class all week. Fortunately it was local and I didn't have to be away from Effie and my TiVo.  ;)

It was a great class. The best part, aside from role playing an actual hostage negotiations scenario with a loccal swat team yesterday is that the class was supposed to end today at 4
but we were all so awesome we got out at 1015!

I had one load of dirty clothes in the car with mr. Ove been trying to do laundry for two weeks but have been lazy. Anyway. I'm washing it now. Should be in the dryer in 5 minutes the so I'll be  out of here by 1. And I have the weekend off so my weekend starts 3 hrs early

Only thing I can't figure out..... Why are there kids in a laundrymat at 1150 on a Friday.

Also, things have been pretty difficult at work again so I'm gonna try and stay off here while there because, while it's not frowned upon or anything. People are watching my every movement trying to get ammo on me. Have I said lately how much i hate that bitch I work with and her possee?    >:(

Yeah it's been a pretty intense class basically I've checked in vreifly in the morning at lunch and ibthe evening but have been too tired to hang out.

Also, things have been pretty difficult at work again so I'm gonna try and stay off here while there because, while it's not frowned upon or anything. People are watching my every movement trying to get ammo on me. Have I said lately how much i hate that bitch I work with and her possee?    >:(

Cat
My point exactly, except obviously for this family... Hellla they all live within 5 miles of one another.  I would do a lot of things for a lot of people, but not her I am as uncomfortable around her as anything!  My family, I have 2 brothers and 1 sister, really they are my 1/2 but if I would call them that we ALL would be offended.  They are what I have, and I am proud of them.  Now the set on my fathers side, that I never was much around 2 1/2 sisters and a 1/2 brother, that is what they are!  nothing else!  But for someone to say that about a legally adopted child (by father) is horrible.  Nothing like making them feel less of a person, not worthy; is unforgivable.  I have stayed quiet because that is my husbands battle, not mine (and he just has not much to do with her - which also doesn't get us invited to dinner often).  But to say my girls are not blood, to people that is where the hair started standing straight out on my neck.  It WILL come to words, I just hope I have the patience enough to not make it at the wrong time!  :P

Yep, my thoughts exactly...  Unfortunately to most people she seems a good christian, saint, who gave 25 years of her life to teaching 6th graders and is a loving soul.  She is, if you let her control your life; she is full of all sorts of helpful advice at that point :P  Unfortunately (Fortunately)  her husband is expected to pass within 24 hours

Oh and ....
Because they made their schedules so that they didn't have classes on Friday.

I went to the Collin Raye concert last night and got to meet him!  I have been in love with him for years so it was like a dream come true.

First we were walking to an ATM and passed the door to the back stage area.  It was open and someone was going in.  I looked at one of them an he looked really dang familiar.  It clicked as he went in that OMG it was HIM!  I about had heart failure.  Then I was able to participate in the meet and greet after the show.  It was so cool...he was very friendly and took the time to talk to everyone.  He asked what my name meant and told me that he liked it because there was a story.  The autographs I got were personalized.  Then, of course, we got a picture.  I will post it in the celeb thread.  It was a great night!

Sami I don't think these kids scheduled Fridays off they were all part of the same family and mom either kept them out of school or they don't go to school at all. And these were not homeschool kids.  It's sad Sally. But they were totally obnoxious so I was more annoyed that they were bugging me than I was at the fact they weren't being educated.

Oops... When you said it, I automatically thought you were speaking of college kids at the laundromat. Terrible situation, we have a student (and a sister) who has so far missed 30+ days of school this semester, and they are all excused cause his parents/mom calls him in. But how are we to educate him, he is failing.  Another student a father took his kid out of school last year for 3 weeks, because they were going to the Daytona 500 (last I checked that is only a 1 day race - oh no.. got to go to time trials and all the crap before it) Yep I am sure that was worth his kid failing school.  People need to figure out what is education and what is not.  Only if parents find education important are kids even going to begin to understand.

Glad you survived!

My grandmother was mean...  I remember her making brothers and sisters hate each other, by how she twisted a story.  She always had to be the center of attention.  I guess when my mother was little, she would run off for months (and take a bottle of pills with her, so people thought she might have committed suicide)... Crazy, dramatic broad...  BUT SHE HAD THE NICEST OF EVERYTHING!

Already, heck, this is the second measurable storm of the winter.

And I don't want to hear anyone whine about cold...it is supposed to hit 9 degrees tonight.  I would love 50 degrees.

The storm is almost over and I survived.  We got 5 to 6 inches but nothing like the "storm of the century" the weathermen were screaming about. ;D

A change from we've been having, yes.  Though actually I think they had more snow here than I did in the US last year.  Or didn't cope with it as well or something! The papers are all full of stories about how much grit/salt the council has stockpiled, how many snow ploughs will be available, how many paths they will clear etc.etc.  because it all went pear-shaped last winter.

I got a phone call from my sister ("Dawg") who invited us to her place this weekend. My dad is down there for Thanksgiving and my brother & his wife will be there on Saturday so we were invited, too. We could have gone down there for tomorrow (Thanksgiving) but figured it would be too much on our other sister. But, I think we SHOULD go down. From what "Dawg" has been telling me-now I am REALLY worried about our other sister.  :-\\  Unfortunately, our OTHER-other sister won't be there-she is in Oklahoma and the funny thing is, we were SUPPOSED to be spending Thanksgiving with her but didn't.

Ok, I'm sure I have totally confused everyone saying about this sister & that sister without using any names.  :D ;D ;D ;D  I have 3 sisters left.

no she's not worried about her sister in OK she's worried about her other sister who's not dawg- who is not cooking because the other other sister is cooking and the one in OK is probably still having a thanksgiving dinner but not with cat and carlos or the rest of the siblings...  or the father.... whew I think I got that right.

There was a protest march in our town centre.  When a couple of us were commenting the purpose of it my boss said "I agree with it"  Thankfully I checked what he agreed with before commenting further.  He thought tuition fees should be raised much higher, but I v nearly assumed he meant he agreed with the march!

Well that is the good part, no one else was in the e.r. at 4:30 this morning...  SO it was just me, I got the royal treatment, and was out of there by 6:30 (had to take prednisone IV,  a nebulizer treatment, and a chest x-ray).  My oxygen levels were good.  I just have terrible allergies and chronic asthma, and I try and live my life as a "normal" person, and help with the house construction; exposing myself to 100+ year old dust and dirt...  and the layer of dust in the house now is incredible.  I guess I will have to wait to help, till the messy stuff is done, and cleaned up.  I can paint

It has a gas heater in it... I am not sure how cool it will be, the worst part no water (as the pipes aren't insulated and so they can freeze) So in order to wash hands, go to the bathroom, take a shower etc... will still have to walk from drive to the camper. :P  All meals will be ala chinette and la plastica silverware...

BTW - it may speed up the process, and my mom feels so bad right now (she wished she had a car so she could run and help) perhaps I can get her here to clean up all the dust O)

Wish me luck.  Still difficult to breath, chest is on fire, and really hurts to cough; but I do not feel "tight" anymore or that I am drowning and gurgling in my own lungs.  My husband couldn't sleep all night because he said I sounded awful.  The prednisone should make me better quick, by the end of today, I should be wanting to run laps (I have to take 2 more pills).

Thank you both.  I hope so too!  I was probably a lttle more paranoid today - a holiday and nothing open, and not tomorrow either, then the weekend.  So no chance to get to my doctor.  And last week a 45 yr old man died in the area - the cause, had a chronic asthma attack and no one was home...  :P  I did not want that, and I had already tried for 4 hours to get it calmed down through my rescue inhalers, to no avail.

^tis all good, much better than if I wouldn't have gone...

Cooking my meal, since we are not headed to mothers (in which I would have been cooking, the already smoked turkey - ok warming).  So it is corn pudding/scalloped corn/corn casserole whatever you want to call it.  Stuffing and smoked turkey.  Gravy will be out of a jar, and the girls asked for my famous green beans (green beans, onions, bacon, and a little brown sugar and a touch of red wine vinegar)!  So I will have to make them!  And Cranberry sauce (out of the can - of course).  OK it is a semi-homemade Thanksgiving.  I had short notice and not a whole lot of energy, they are lucky they aren't eating loose meat hamburger and shells n' cheese :P

HELP... (fb people sorry your hearing it twice again)

My 9 year old has decided she wants a nook/kindle/e-reader from Santa (seems as if they are cheap enough this year, and that is all she is asking from him - she had to cross off her other 5 items she had for this, so she will get less presents than her sister).  Learning lesson 1 down.  But does anyone have any recommendations/ suggestions/ experience.... :P  I have not researched them enough.

Believe it or not, I also heard that a certain illegal substance also helps with asthma.  :o :o :o That I don't understand at all.  If you feel like reading the result of a test:

Holy crap - smoking a turkey sent me to the er... and I have been sicker than sick when people were allowed to smoke in bars (I for one am happy to have a smoke free state... but not sure if it is right).  Can't see direct inhalation as a good thing :P

Sami. Somewhere here tam had thread about the book readers.

I don't know much about the Sony reader but I compared kindle and nook and decided I like kindle better.

Plus apple has a kindle app so books you buy for her kindle can be added to your iPhone.

I think it helps the air passages relax and open. I can't say whether it works or not-I'm just saying that some people use it to help with their asthma.

Ginger is supposed to reduce allergic infection. Try that.

I don't understand why anyone should want tuition to be raised.

In comparison to the US our fees are quite low.  I think they are currently around £3000 a year for UK students.  They are talking of making them about £9000

Some went very well (best buy, surprisingly went real well, sister-in-law walked in while I parked and she found someone who took her to the 99$ Nooks even though she didn't have a "ticket" the helper asked for a ticket, the guy handed her the Nook instead... YEAH and we walked out in 15 minutes.

I wouldve gone shopping- for this is the first black Friday I've had off in about 10yrs but I only have $7 in my checking and 50 cents in my savings. I also have credit card with 9 dollars available credit.v guess we know what my new years resolution will be.  :-\\

Well I did enough retail therapy for both of us, 2 girls to buy for, I got my steam mop (for a black friday sale - $36), and pots and pans... And did what I didn't necessarily wanted to do (I had been saving for iPad.... :-\\ Oh well).  I got 2 new 4g iPhones (yep my husband got REALLY upgraded from the first generation... I didn't get the 32g that I really wanted, remained with 16... Christmas wasn't the best plan, but it had to be done).  My hubby is tickled pink with his new phone and all of his new gadgets, he even had to call using the Facetime... LOL

But I am feeling the post shopping blues, good news - no new Christmas stuff (as I have no place to put it in the remodel project) not even sure about where to hide the presents...
Another plus is I have some of my eldest daughter B-day presents for her birthday in FEB... YAY - planning ahead

Remember I entered some of my poems for a competition (to hopefully win EUR 10,000)?

Well, at least four of the seven poems I entered are through to Round 2. Two are still undecided, and one was declined.
This doesn't say much though. There were close to 10,000 poems in competition.

Next step is they'll bring it back to 100 poems for Round 3, and then to 20 for Round 4.
I hope to make it to Top 100, but it won't be easy, and it isn't in my hands anymore.

We are home. It was a really nice weekend even if we had to put up with my brother & his wife. He has been making all of us DVDs with old family photos/movies on them. He was telling us about some and we all said that we want a copy. He said that he gave it to us already. 4 of us (2 of my sisters, my dad & myself) said we never got any but he still INSISTED that he gave it to us. Then he told "Dawg" that he played it for us when we came to visit him. Dawg said, "When I was 12?" He said, "Yeah." Oy vey! Like we are supposed to remember THAT?!!!  ::)

When he was leaving, the 4 of us started singing, "We love you, ___. Oh yes we do. We don't love anyone as much as you. When you're not near us, we're blue. Oh, ____ We love you." When he left the house, my sister opened the window and started singing it out the window-joined by a sister or two (like me  ;) :D ;D ;D ).  After he left, we called his house and when we got his machine (we KNEW he wasn't home yet because he had a couple hours drive), we all sang into his machine so he was greeted with it when he got home.  ;D ;D ;D  Oh yes, we all love our brother.  ;D ;D ;D

Yesterday morning as we were eating breakfast, Sister #3 (who is out in Oklahoma) called. "Dawg" put her on speaker phone so we had breakfast with her-so to speak. Even though we couldn't see it, it was the next best thing. I'm still worried about Sister #2. You can tell she is very tired. When we were done eating, she went downstairs to her husband's aunt & uncle's place who are both not doing very well. He is fighting cancer & undergoing chemo. Yesterday he was running a fever and Sister #2 didn't know if she should take him to the ER or not. While she was gone, "Dawg," our brother, his wife, & myself did our best to clean the table, put the food away, & do the dishes before she got back. As much as my brother & his wife drive us crazy, they were very helpful.

That is basically the highlights from the trip. The older & older I get, the more & more I really appreciate my siblings-even though we have had our differences.  ;)

The nice thing about it is that we get to check our sales on-line but it is not worth it. How are you dealing with it? ???

OOOooh do you know who from Twin Peaks?

Ray wise
Sheryl lee
Robyn lively
The log lady
And a dude who's name I have to look up.
It's not Dana Ashbrook. Dana Ashbrook stayed home with the flu.
And no one said why Sherylynn Fenn wasn't there. She was in the Psych episode but not at the event.

Fantastic Time at the Event last night.... I have to say the highlight was when I was standing at the front of the line (about 30 people in it) and a car pulls up in front of the Paley Center.  Dule Hill gets out of the car and looks over at me... he smiles, walks over takes one hand in a shake and embraces me in a big hug with the other hand... and spends a moment inquiring about my well being since our last meeting!  8)

I should take my shower but don't feel like it this morning.  Got a plant that looks like crud.  Hopefully it's okay and will grow new leaves.  The frost is to much for it, so maybe if I pot it and move it to my sunniest location this time of year.  Okay Hi's around 50 and 60 lows around 30 and 40.

Thanx!  Lol. We survived another night.. Night 4, we have found out that we get about 2 days heat from the campers LP tanks (ran out in the middle of night and had to switch tanks). But at $50 to fill a tank, it is still much cheaper than staying at a hotel!

Yuck. It's no consolation cuz its colder where to are. But I have no heat and we're experiencing an extremely cold (by Cali standards) winter this year.
