Prince William and Kate Middleton have attended a private wedding rehearsal at Westminster Abbey.

The one-and-a-half hour event, also involving senior clergy, the bride's parents and best man Prince Harry comes ahead of Friday's ceremony.

Earlier, up to 1,000 members of the military took part in a full-scale walk-through procession along the wedding route.

Carriages took part in the procession to Westminster Abbey, along with two royal fleet cars.

This so-called "royal wedding", like "Chuck & Di" before it, is nothing more than media hype. It's not worth wasting news time on. It has to do with "royalty" that has no power. This stuff is just as "important" as Britney or Bieber.

Prince William has been made Duke of Cambridge, and his wife the Duchess of Cambridge, Buckingham Palace has said.

The prince has also taken the titles Earl of Strathearn and Baron Carrickfergus, linking him to Scotland and Northern Ireland.

He has been given the titles by the Queen to mark his marriage. Catherine also becomes her royal highness.

Giving new titles to a member of the Royal Family on their wedding day is a long-standing tradition.

Yes, they had him on the news here, Philip Treacy, he designed quite a few hats for the occasion.  Can't imagine what he must have against her.

Philip Treacy, an award winning designer who designed a lot of hats for heads that day.  He must have something against her, or her mother, to do something like that.  I don't know what was in her mind accepting it.

A £1 'wiggly worm' toy which made an unplanned appearance in the official royal wedding photographs was bought by Prince Harry to keep the younger bridesmaids happy, the Duchess of Cornwall has revealed.

The bright pink toy is seen clutched in the hand of Camilla's granddaughter, three-year-old Eliza Lopes, in the photographs.

Camilla said: "That was the funniest thing. I can't believe no one has spotted it."

The Duke of Cambridge has been involved in two rescues, just days after his wedding.

Prince William was among the crew of an RAF Sea King helicopter from RAF Valley in Anglesey who flew to the aid of a 70-year-old walker in Snowdonia.

The man was said to have had a heart attack on the 2,946ft (898m) Lliwedd mountain on Wednesday night.

After flying him to hospital in Bangor the crew returned and flew four men off Snowdon after one suffered vertigo.

No one knows yet. That what auction means

I found this about it:
It’s the sort of investment you might have expected Duncan Bannatyne to reject with a swift: ‘I’m out!’

But, it being for charity after all, the Dragons’ Den star became the first person to stump up cash for Princess Beatrice’s controversial royal wedding hat when it went up for auction on eBay. His £5,000 bid came within minutes of the Philip Treacy-designed fascinator going on sale in aid of children’s charities Unicef and Children in Crisis.

He told the Mail: ‘I’d encourage everyone to get bidding to raise as much money as possible – for once I don’t mind if I don’t walk away with the deal.’

A sailor says he was pounced on by Royal minders after accidentally invading Prince William and Kate Middleton's honeymoon island in the Seychelles.

Martin Ernstbrunner, 36, from Bad Fischau, Austria, claims he and girlfriend Tracy were trying to land their home made catamaran on what they thought was a deserted island.

The couple were on an island-hopping cruise in the Indian Ocean when they spotted what they thought was the perfect empty beach.

But Mr Ernstbrunner told Austria's Heute newspaper that royal security and local coastguards began swarming over their boat as soon as they landed.

"It just shows you that no matter how far you go, how much you pay and how good the security is - you just can't stop a German-speaking holidaymaker from trying to put his towel on your sun bed," laughed one royal aide.

The royal couple reportedly paid £40,000-a-night for total privacy on the remote island away from prying eyes.

With the auction close to its Sunday closing, 39 bidders were competing for the hat, described on eBay as a "unique sculptural celebratory headpiece".

Speaking of headgear:

- Actual billboard in LA.  Observe two leftmost hats.  Karma to anyone who can link the remaining hats with their real-world owners from last year.

Elsewhere in the blogosphere, "That's The Stupidest Thing I've Ever Heard" got their hands on an actual press kit for next weekend's royal wedding.

No, really.  Entertainment Weekly picked up on it too.

By the way, keep your eyes on the New York Times wedding section this week!

From L-R:
Rainbow Dash: Princess Eugenie
Pinkie Pie: Princess Beatrice
Rarity: Victoria Beckham (Eeyup!)

Fluttershy: Someone claimed Tara Palmer-Tomkinson (but in maroon, not blue, and with a characteristic butterfly, not a flower)

Twilight Sparkle: They also claimed Miriam Gonzalez, which is probably a bit of a stretch.

Applejack: As herself :)
