Thought I might just get this started early, while I was thinking about it, as the last couple of months have been here before we knew it!

So go ahead and post your June news! 8)

I have a wedding to go to June 25th.  My cousin has been dating his girl since high school and all through college (I'm guessing around 10 years or so?  I haven't been keeping track).  Now that they are both out of college with nice degrees, they are taking the next stage in life.

I love weddings!  I love getting dressed up.  Might even dance a bit at the reception since it's family, only problem is, I hope I don't end up on youtube because of it.  lol  Not sure if hubby is going with me or not yet.  He's been invited, but he doesn't like weddings (all the weddings in his family ended up with fistfights happening at the reception.)  ???  He likes my family and he said he'd go, I'm just not sure if I wanna drag him through all that just because it's something I like.

Patty, you deserve to get to do something you want too!  I am sure your husband can put aside his distaste for weddings, for one evening!

I LOVE dressing up, too. I am lucky because Carlos will go with me to functions like that-and will even dance with me.

My friend got her film in a film festival in the bay area June 23. I'm proud of her. It's an intensly personal project but I'm also nervous (if I go) because although I've completely accepted her choices I've actually haven't seen her since she became a she. I feel bad because she's not an attractive woman and I know she faces hatred everyday. I just don't want her to misread my apprehension, or whatever, as judgement.  :-\\

I LOVE Virginia Beach.  It's such a pretty beach.  My dad was stationed down that way in the Navy.  I haven't been back to visit for a really long time... probably since 1985...

Would love to go back someday.

It had some problems back in the 70s and 80s that they cleared up and now it is extremely family friendly.  It is the only place Sig actually liked well enough to want to return to every year.

I'm going to "Field Day" at my kids' school, YIPEE!!  ::)

It's a Survivor theme, the kids are divided into "tribes" and have cool tye-dyed shirts with a Survivor type logo on the front.  They have to participate in the challenges and the tribe that wins gets some type of an award.

I'm too old to be out in the sweltering heat all day!  ;D Near 95 degrees and right now 94% humidity.  8-P

Ancient Greeks, that sounds interesting, any idea of what is planned?  I also had to make a toga a few years ago, luckily for me it required very little sewing.  ;D

Just about done packing (only a few last minute items). We should be ready to leave here in an hour or so. Have a few stops to make before heading out of town. Gonna stop at Best Buy (which is an hour & a half away) with this computer. I'm hoping they will just take it and we can pick it up when we get home. We are having dinner with daughter-in-law & Grandson. (Step-Son & Step Daughter #2 are working). We fly out tomorrow morning but at least it won't be as early as usual. (10 rather than 7) But we will get there later, too. We are flying JetBlue this time instead of USAir and flying through Orlando instead of Philly. Hopefully, it will be a more comfortable flight than usual. Step-Daughter #1 is already there and my youngest Step-Daughter will be there next week.

Day from hell.  Sarah went to the doctor and we found out she broke the growth plate on her tibia when she fell last week.  She had a ct scan today to make sure there was no other damage, but the doctor thinks it should be okay.  Luckily her growth plate was already closing so it won't affect her height.

Then, I had to leave work early and the work didn't get done.  It's like if I am not there they slack off.  Tomorrow better be better.

I just saw a video of a tornado go across a river/body of water at Springfield, MA - YIKES!  Being from just either side of the Mississippi River, people always say that a tornado will not cross a body of water - WELL THAT VIDEO IS PROOF THAT that ain't true!  WOW - I hope you are safe!

Started decorating in my new apartment... Have now one wall covered in wall paper (a very very light brownish). I'm sticking to neutral colors for the walls, and the carpet's gonna be a blended blue/light brownish. I think it's gonna be awesome! 8)

Carpet was scheduled for the 8th, but the company called yesterday to say they couldn't make it. Now it's rescheduled for the 10th. It has to be done before the 11th, 'cause that's when I have planned to move (most of) my furniture.

We found out we had to prepare a lot of the walls before we can actually paper them (drywall/plasterboard, so it's ultra absorbent). Took me almost two hours to do four walls. It rubbed some of the skin off of one of my fingers, and now I've got blisters on one of the others... but at least we can go paper some walls! :D

although he got my profession wrong it's still cool.  Plus one of he actors, Michael Cudlitz, took a pic of the audience and posted it on twitter.  My FB friends may have seen the pic in my latest album. Funny thing is I made some comment to him on twitter ( not related to the puc) and someone else tweeted that she recognized me, by my avatar, as the person sitting in the front row of his twit pic  ;D

Just checking in. I am sitting at the airport in Orlando. The connection totally sucks. I'm using my own connection but for a short period of time there was a public freebie but then it disappeared.  :-\\  Meanwhile the battery of the laptop is being eaten. So, I will not be here for long. May have a change to check it later tonight when we get to the house.

I hope Chucky & Max are ok. I know Max is just north of Springfield so he was REALLY close.

We are here! Our plane was a bit late but otherwise, no major problems-just a wee bit bumpy. Then we had the 2 & a half drive here. SIL too us to her house, we said hello & good-night to Carlos' oldest daughter & Granddaughter #2 (who was in bed but not yet asleep). Granddaughter #3 was asleep. Then Carlos & I took SIL's car and came here. I'm working on a pineapple juice & rum (don't have the coco rum so it is not officially a pina colada). I'm not going to last too much longer. Gonna check things out here and then I'm getting into the tub & then getting into bed!

Day two of the car being at the mechanic's.  They don't know what's wrong with it.  :-\\  So that isn't looking very promising.  I'm hoping repair work won't cost an arm and leg and the end result being the car still won't run.  >:(  This is the newest car we've ever had (bought it off of a friend of my husband) and it's lasted the least amount of time.  I guess there is something to be said about buying beater cars for a couple hundred dollars and running them into the ground. (That's what we usually do.)

Kids have been off school this week so it's been difficult trying to keep them occupied whilst I'm at work and then making the effort to go out somewhere when I'm home in the afternoon.

Today I am messing about on here briefly before tackling the housework.  Kids are going to help me because a lot of it is their mess!  I am taking them to Splash Bash at the local pool this evening.  No idea what it is but the kids think it sounds fun!

Good Luck. :)

Thanks; I will meet with him again next week. I feel like I am making some active progress that should have been done years ago. From 2008-early last year (and the late part of last year) I felt I was getting nowhere.

With job coaches you're supposed to work with them for 6 months to a year but he liked me so much that it turned out that he had business relationships with supermarket managers like Pathmark,Walbaums,Stop And Shop, places that help people with disabilities get out in the community and work again to make money and Him And I were working together for 5 years since Au Bon Pain in February 2006.

I think the question Patty was asking was, since you're already employed why do you need a transitional job coach?
Are you looking for a new job?
Are you trying to transition into a new position?

Elizabeth has gone sailing this afternoon with the scouts.  We drove across to the lake and took our bikes.  James, Dai and I rode for about an hour and a half around the lakes and river.  I have to go back and fetch Elizabeth in about an hour's time.

Good luck with that.

I worked with one for about a year, but we made little or no progress. The one I have now, seems much more active and enthusiastic, and he's very willing to assist me.

Last night, we had the a/c up a little bit too high and I woke up with a sore throat. Then, Granddaughters #2 & #3 keep saying, "Read us a story" or "What is that?" "Why is that?" etc. etc. Right now, my step-daughter is taking a nap & Carlos was reading. When the kids asked for another story, I asked them to ask "Papa Charlie" who said, "I'm reading my own book." I finally told him that my throat is really killing me-after talking ALL day-it really needs a rest. So, Carlos is now reading them a book. I have already turned down the a/c so hopefully, my throat won't be killing me tomorrow. I took a couple of teaspoons of honey. I just wish it would ease up.

But, I just love these two little girls. They are great!

It would've been handy if we had had some help, though. I feel it would've saved us about two days. Now it feels I'm constantly running behind, and there's still heaps of other things to do. Haven't finished packing, for one, and we need to lay an underfloor before the carpet can go in. The underfloor is probably gonna take another day, and packing...two or three days, I'm guessing.
Problem is, I only got till Wednesday (the office can do no longer without me, apparently). :-\\ So with the remaining papering (also one day, if all goes well) there's just not enough time left.

Solution: I've bought myself another week by rescheduling the actual move from the 11th to to 18th. Maybe I can get some half days off as well next week - that should be enough. ;)

Oh yes, I know those two as well. There is going to be a Whole Foods market going up fairly close to me, but I don't know when it's slated to open yet.

As for Pavillions, I think there is one in the North Ranch/Oak Park area (east end of Thousand Oaks), at the corner of Kanan and Lindero Canyon. I know it was there ten years ago, but I haven't been up in that area lately.

My cousin died today.  I wasn't terribly close to her, she was a couple years older then I and growing up, her family just didn't come around that often.  I last saw her about 3 years ago, at my grandma's anniversary party (I think.)  They think her death was drug related.  But I don't know that it makes any real difference in how she died, just that she died too young.  She had 4 kids (well 2 are adults now) and a grandchild.  She was always nice to me, even though she was a bit of a tomboy and kinda gruff, she never treated me as the geek and outcast that I am.  :)  I will miss her and wish I could have helped somehow.

Going to San Juan to pick up my youngest step-daughter & her family. It is about 2 & 1/2 hours ONE WAY!!! LONG haul. My sinuses are finally draining. I just hope that I am no longer contagious.

The kids are still asleep so I am able to be here for a few minutes without the constant questions. "What's are you doing now?" "Why is that?" "What is that?" etc. etc. The funniest question she asked (that she asked several times) "Why do you take so many pictures?" But she is a good audience for all my videos/slideshows.  ;D ;D ;D

A friend from CT phoned last night to say her husband has a job in Los Angeles so we will have to go there next year to visit!  I'm hoping she comes over here at Christmas time first.

I am just printing out an application for a job at Elizabeth's school.  Really hope I get this one.  It's the one I sent my CV in for before it was advertised, but apparently I have to go through the whole process - shame.

guess who else you will have to visit while you're in LA!!!!!!  ;)

Especially if you plan on doing anything "Hollywood-ish" ie star tours- walking H'wood BLVD cuz my friends never wanna do that stuff... personally I'm dying to hike to the H'wood sign... you can't go all the way up but I think you can get close....although I'm not nearly in the shape your family is in so I would probably just slow you guys down  :-\\

I planted some annual  seeds (toadflax and lupine) in the ground and some johnny jump ups in a pot.  Yeah you see some pictures of plants, but I still have a dirt lot.  I plan to order three plants for the back row of my dirt lot.  I'd like to keep it open for male butterflies to come mud puddle in and stuff.  Anyway I want a false indigo plant ( CA native & host plant for the CA Dogface butterfly), sticky monkey flower ( CA native & host plant for the Buckeye butterfly), and  coyote brush ( aster family, probably something butterflies will like eating).  This is really cool to me , I finally got a plan  for my garden and I like it, butterflies or not.

Yes ^ here it is, the amount I care to share!  I've got 2 nieces now, (5 and 1) still no job-- other than seasonal weekend work and helping keep the 1 y.o. happy and safe at home in the daytime with my sister.  We lost a cat recently, but she was very old and smart enough to know her way home= so she would have come back by now if she could!  :\'(  I fear she was squished by a car or squeezed by a big dog. :\'(
I took a skills test for a certain job, but with one job opening and so many applicants I think I had better keep looking. :-\\
I have a year pass for Disneyland, but I have the cheap one--some of my family have the next tier up and they can go more often but for me most of the summer my card is "blocked"/unusable.  I think they could do better for the prices we pay!
My dad is going on an international flight on Friday, and we have no idea if the house payment's been covered, no concrete clue as to when he and the wife are coming home (She's already there, waiting for him at the family home--hers --not mine) and it makes me a bit nervous!  There are earthquakes, volcanoes, tsunamis, tropical diseases...who knows! :-\\

Nice to see you back Michelle.  Hopefully you'll figure things out with the house payment, (Could you call the mortgage company to ask?) and work will come soon.

This has been a rather rough week.  Car still at mechanics (for a week now, with no communication from them as to progress of repair) so hubby walked up there early this morning.  Mechanic is out sick and other mechanic only knows periphally what is going on...  At least we have some sort of answers... not knowing is the worst.  He walked off without his keys and was locked out of the house.  He rang the doorbell (which I didn't hear and called my cell which was recharging downstairs.)  He finally crawled through the back window, much to the cats' distress!

Cousin died Sunday, there is still no word on visitation or graveside service.  I sent my other cousin (her brother) a note on FB expressing my condolences.  I included a poem that I found on the internet, but when I posted it (after I posted it to him) It had all this extraneous information...So it looks terrible.  I only wanted to offer what comfort I could to him.  She made some bad choices in life (who doesn't?) but she was kind and took in people that had nowhere else to go, especially kids.  Some people are gossiping and it just grates on our nerves.

Today, my mom had a second mammogram and the lump could be something...so next step is a biopsy.  She had one once before (different breast) that was benign so I'm hoping for that result.  I'm trying to be optimistic for her, it's hard though since my nature is to be the opposite and worry.  :-\\

One bit of good news, mom says they have an extra car that they aren't using and will bring it up on Saturday for us to borrow.  Yay!

It's really hot and humid and I'm a bit of a grump.  ;D

More ((((((hugs)))))) patty.

W/ regards to posting the poem usually I will copy something to Ms word and then copy it from word  to FB. That could get rid of the extra info. And keep it properly formatted.

Yay about the car. And I hope for the best from your mom's biopsy.

Carlos, SIL, FIL, & SIL went to get the rental car (which was supposed to be a van but turned into a 5 seat passenger car). I was feeling like crap this morning and laid down for two hours and TRIED to sleep. Every time I started to drift off, I was waken by a kid screaming, an adult screaming at a kid, a car going by, a dog barking, or a rooster crowing. One time I was almost asleep and was waken by the silence!  :o :o :o (They took the kids to the park.) When Carlos came back, everyone was hot, & bored and cranky. They wanted to go to the beach. So, we all went to the beach. I was hoping the Caribbean would have healing properties. Did it? Don't know. I'll see how I feel tomorrow. But, I really don't have ANY voice.

Carlos is starting dinner and then we should be celebrating my oldest step-daughter's birthday.

Anyway...today I met with my job coach again; we looked at other places to possibly apply for jobs...including an employment agency, where I had to fill out an application for employment, read all the important policies, and sign them. The person there said that it would take maybe a week or so for my application to be processed (I also handed them a copy of my resume), so we'll see how things go with that.

Mom came home early from work last night, she'd been vomiting alot, so my brother took her to Emergency room.  Tonight, they told her that she needs surgery on a hernia and is being transferred to a hospital in another city that can do them.  My hubby and I are getting a ride down there (about a hour and a half drive) from one of his buddies.  I'm feeling like karma has it in for me this week for some reason.

I am still hot and sweaty and EXTREMELY tired. Waiting my turn for the shower. I just may wait until I'm ready to go to bed.

Tomorrow we go to Gilligan's Island (for a three hour tour). It is a lovely place and some of the best snorkeling. Carlos asked me if I was up for Gilligan's Island. I looked at him and said, "Was I up for the Dry Forest? Was I up for the beach yesterday? And Does it matter?"

All the kids decided to go to the bio bay tonight and Carlos & I have a nice quiet evening which is spend trying to clean things up (found a whole bunch of ants in the kitchen along with bits of Cheerios, cake, and who knows what else) and doing a few loads of towels.

I jammed my pinkie finger but good today.  I hit the chair rail on the wall.  I heard two cracks.  It hurts like hell but I can move it.  Guess I just get to whine about it.

feel better and take care of your pinkie.

Thanks, Howard.  I am feeling generous and will give you karma for that. :D

Went to the John Michael Montgomery concert last night.  For those who don't know he is a country singer.  It was a blast and I caught one of the guitar picks.  He sings a couple of songs that make me cry and I did.  In all it was a great show!

June started off well for me because I took part in a community project where I gave the railings of Tabard Gardens, Southwark, a fresh coat of paint in order to earn a concert ticket. A couple of days later, I started to feel under-the-weather (probably a cold or hay fever) so I ended up missing a string of fitness classes in order to get some rest.

The 6th was a pretty bad day for me. That morning, I received a package that looked innocent on the outside (It was a box from the online Lush store) because at a first glance, I thought it was an item I made a bid for on eBay but as I was opening the box, I saw a label with my now-ex-best-friend Lisa's address on it that was still stuck on the box (my address on a piece of paper was taped over it). I soon thought it was a late birthday present for me since Lisa and I never met when I last went to her hometown and was somehow expecting a present from her. Instead it was a Snapfish photo collage mug I bought her and left at my parents' house for them to give to her as well as two torn up photo collage posters also from Snapfish. The worst thing in the box was a letter and when I read it, I was horrified. The letter was insulting because it said that there was no excuse for me to act like a right cow (which I'm obviously not - I'm a human being for crying out loud!) and not to bother with her again. I immediately assumed that our friendship was over and I also removed any photo collages with Lisa from my wall as well as delete her numbers from my phone.

On a more positive note, I applied for two jobs; one to become a mystery shopper and the other to become a retail sales advisor in an Orange phone shop. I registered to become a mystery shopper online but they have no service checks available for me as of yet. I have yet to hear from Orange to see if I get the job.

DON"T DO THE MYSTERY SHOPPER!  There is a giant scam where they send you a check, you cash it, it bounces.  I'm not sure of the logistics, but it seems legit but a lot, and I mean a lot, of people have gotten stung.

There are some legitimate mystery shopper jobs, they don't give you the money in advance, though.  It also doesn't promise to be a good paying job.  I am on the list for one and get a call about twice a year.  Usually to go to a bank to rate the teller service.  They never pay up front.

I have used mysteryguestinc.com and been refunded my cost of the meal  at local restaurants and a little cash on the side... usually only $5 to $15 bucks.  When I shop for Cheesecake Factory I earn the cost of the meal (up to $30) and a $30 gift card for my next visit.

All in all it's not a bad deal....basically I, ultimately, get a free meal and get to hang out with a friend for an hour. It's a little time consuming filling out the survey but I don't mind.

As for me, last night I went to a barbecue at a friend's house...about 10 other folks showed up; these are all young adults who I know from church. We had lots of barbecued food (including shish kabobs, turkey burgers, etc.) and then we played a game of Guesstures, which I had not played before, but sorta knew how to play. Had fun with it. It felt good to go to an event like this; it's not very often that I get out and have a chance to be with friends. :)

Exactly.  That and if they promise you the money up front, run the other way.  Those are the scams.

Good luck.  Not many are hiring in home anymore.  We don't because of privacy laws and security.  Basically if someone takes a batch of work with SSN's home and the SSN's somehow get stolen and used, our company gets charged $10,000 per number.  Not worth it for a small company.  Have you tried customer service jobs?  I know there are companies, like Jet Blue, that only hire agents that work from home.

Well, with the carpet in it's time to actually start moving things...
First dozen or so boxes (containing lots of useless stuff like books and CD's) have been moved. Another dozen or so to go...not to mention the larger stuff (like the fridge, the washing machine, the couches, the table etc.) The latter will be moved next Saturday. Sadly, it looks like rain (and lots of it) for Saturday. Fingers crossed!

Mom's surgery was last Friday, all went well and they released her from hospital the next day!  I stayed with her through Monday afternoon, my brother is on vacation this week so he is supposed to take care of her.  So I came home last night.  Today my mom calls says she's bored because she's not allowed to drive for 2 weeks, my dad went back to work, and my brother went fishing all day, leaving her alone!  >:(

My car is officially dead, mechanic doesn't know what else to do to it.  Suggested having it towed to the dealership of the brand of car it is.  We're trying to decide if we want to spend the money on towing it there and getting them to see if they can fix it, or just selling it to a junk yard for scrap.  Hubby's uncle offered to loan us money for a "new (for us)" used car, and for us to make payments to him.  Right now, I am borrowing a rather beat up car my dad had sitting around.  The exhaust leaks so it makes me a little dizzy in slow city traffic.  :D

I am trying to decide when to go back down to take care of mom.  It is lovely being home with hubby and cats.  I cannot get comfortable rest at parents house sleeping on a foam cushion.  I'm way too old for sleeping on the floor, plus hot flashes all night equals awake and groggy next day.  But, otherwise, mom is doing well.  I forgot how bossy she was though.  ;D  They do not take care of their pets properly and I am appalled, but try to do what I can when I am there.  It is a very small town, I played the drive around town remembering "what used to be there when I lived here" game.  Rather depressing.  Town has only a small handful of businesses left, they took out all but 3 of the traffic stoplights out and it's weird cruising through town without stopping... Stopped in at the library that I worked at 10 years ago.  Only 3 people I knew worked there and they are having trouble keeping a director.

Sorry I am just in ramble mode tonight.  I'll stop now.  :-X

My cousin's funeral was Monday morning.  It was very nice, alot of people came.  There were snide comments made by my one aunt (about the reason of my cousin's death, and how they "tried" to help her over the years.  Yeah right.) and I could have slapped her.  It's so disrespectful.  The aunt point blank asked the mother of the deceased how daughter died (again, none of her damned business and not appropriate in my opinion) and the mother said something about the cousin was supposed to get a scan for an anureysm at a local hospital, but didn't...  It's all so sad.  I got sunburned from standing in the sun at the funeral (it was a graveside service as the kids did not really have the money for much.)  It was really lovely though.  My two cousins (brother and sister of the deceased) rode a motorcycle to the graveside (they are all big on motorcyclists, the deceased was dressed in a nice leather jacket and pink ballcap) and they played "Freebird" and "Stairway to Heaven" at the ending of the service.
Freebird was the song that I first slow-danced to, so it was an interesting rememberance for me.
I kind of realized that once my aunts and uncles are gone, there really won't be family gatherings anymore.  My cousins and I, (even though there are alot of us,) are just not very close as adults and that makes me sad.  I cherish alot of our family stories from when we were closer as children.  Que sera sera

I got my first parody out in 8 months, been away too long.  I was replying to someone who was thinking the ones votes might be chasing people away.  I don't think so, I think it's the increase of contests.  Anyway I threw together a rant.  I have one more I submitted that is silly.  I told Myspace I wanted to cancel my account wasn't working for me.  Thinking about my soundclick and youtube accounts and asking myself if I might want to get a new video camera and sing some of my parodies and stuff, but don't want to get a camera if I'm not going to use it for much.  Might give me a better chance to get some  pictures of stuff in my garden when I get some plants in it.

Obama was flying into (I think) somewhere in Ohio when we were driving through on vacation and we JUST missed the police setting up the roadblock on our side of the road between the airport and where he was giving the speech.  The other side of the road was already blocked off and they were just getting on the highway as we passed by...THANK GOODNESS!!!! Traffic was backed up for at least 5 miles on the other side of the road!

The past 2 days have pretty much sucked :(  Yesterday was my birthday and I spent it running around with the kids, spent all night at Jake's baseball game, where it turned chilly and I had SHORTS on.  I also found out a good friend's mom is dying and expected to live 2-3 weeks.  Today, again more running around, 2 more baseball games, orthodontist appointments, my best friend from high school had an unscheduled c-section, and her new daughter likely has a mild-moderate case of down syndrome...we were supposed to go out to dinner tonight, but hubby "forgot" that he had a customer dinner so who knows when (if) we will go out to "celebrate".  Oh, and did I mention that the ONLY "gift" I got for my birthday (and not just "any" birthday, my 40th) was a chocolate cake?

And to top everything else off, I have (suspected) bursitis in my shoulder and it hurts like hell to lay in bed so I haven't been able to sleep the past few nights.  My doctor gave me some painkillers, but they aren't doing jack squat.  I KNOW what I need, but I doubt he will give it to me if I call since he's already given me 2 different ones (even though he called in EXACTLY what I told the nurse DID NOT work for me) :( I go for an MRI on Saturday to find out exactly what is wrong, but until then, I just have to "deal with it" I guess :-\\

I hate funerals but unfortunately we have to do what we have to do,we have the option of attending one or not.

{{{hugs}}} Sorry your 40th wasn't better.

Off to the airport in San Juan AGAIN. The plan was that Carlos was going to take his daughter & her two kids since he is going to pick up her husband (and the kids' father) & SIL & I were going to hit the casino, but one of the kids is sick.  :\'( :\'( :\'(  She is burning a fever. (I really hope she doesn't have what I had-that is FINALLY going away). They are all over at my SIL's house right now. We will go over there and figure out Plan B. I may not go but I told Carlos that if I don't go, I prefer to stay HERE rather than at SIL's.

We are just so exhausted. We need a vacation to recuperate from our vacation.

Cat - Glad you are having a quiet night tonight.  Hope you are feeling a little better.  How long are you guys staying in PR?

We fly home on the 28th & will be home on the 29th.

Here is how it played out. SIL took my step-daughter & kids to San Juan. Even though the oldest is not feeling well, she can't wait to see her Daddy. The youngest is even worse. She was jumping all over the place (she became part kangaroo at that the thought of seeing her Daddy.) Carlos & I took the rental car & my FIL and came back here. So, we will have a quiet day until they arrive about dinner time.

Good luck Sami!

Seriously tho this might be a good time to lay some cards on the table and talk about frustrations from both sides. It won't be easy but it could clear the air.  Also. Lay the issues back on the students and see if they can brainstorm ways of getting alumni and parents to become more involved.

As for me, I have an appointment to meet with an employment agency tomorrow morning at 10. Earlier this week, my job coach and I visited a few more employment agencies, and one of them wanted to meet with me Thursday (which is tomorrow), so I'm hoping that'll go well. It's not an interview for a job position, but rather, they want to know a little bit about me so they can consider hiring me for a possible position.

Thanks Karen... I went there this morning and they asked me a few questions, but first they had me fill out some forms. They want to see me again next Monday to ask me additional questions, and I need to provide another form of identification (which I have). When I first went there this past Monday, I just gave them my resume; I was not applying for any specific positions. That's because this is an employment agency.

Hard to describe.  Most of the time, they are irritated with one another, they argue and pout and both have the tendency to disappear in their car when they are mad at each other.  They complain about each other to me (like I am a friend and confidante, rather then their daughter.)  They look for sympathy from me, look for justification for their actions,  rather then trying to solve their own problems, either through a counselor, preacher, friend or just plain talking to one another.  However, all that behavior stops when one or the other is in the hospital.  I am not saying that I have all the solutions to their problems, maybe their behavior works for them, they have been married so long...  I just know if I were experiencing the same symptoms in my marriage, I would try to change it.

In other words, they are Edith and Archie Bunker too.

It just seemed like very few things went well yesterday. We were going to go to a museum that was open on Saturdays-EXCEPT yesterday. Then, I tripped over a fountain and ALMOST drowned my camera which would have been devastating. Instead, I got a bruise on my palm (where I stopped myself) and a bruise on my leg (where I tripped). D@mn blindness! Step-daughter & her husband thought that it would be good to go walking with the kids after dinner in the plaza (they have been falling asleep in the car late in the afternoon and then are up half the night). They have mega venders so it was SUPER crowded. We manage to find a place where we squeezed the car in. The 6 year old was EXTREMELY over tired and she really had a major fit. I guess the parking wasn't good enough because when we came back, there was a $75 parking ticket on it.

Going out on Carlos' cousin's boat today. Then tonight, we are taking the 3 Dads (FIL, Carlos, & son-in-law) out for a Fathers Day dinner. Hopefully, today will go better than yesterday.

So, tomorrow is M Day... Hope all will go according to plan.

Not sure when I'll be (back) online at my new home, but I can still pester you people from work. :P

For a change, everything went according to plan... Even the weather was being cooperative! (windy, but dry)

And as you can tell, I've had no problems accessing the internet from my new apartment. Television reception is also working like a charm so what more could I possibly want?

Well, some curtains would be nice. And a way to hang the lamps, 'cause I've no idea how to do that. :-\\ (Different system to what I was used to in my previous apartment).

Oh, and there's also still quite some stuff left in my old place that needs to be moved (or dumped). So...plenty of things left to do!

Yesterday was a nice day. We went out on Carlos' cousin's boat. First it was a just a ride through all the mangrove islands and then he ask if we wanted to take a dip. Everyone said yes (since we had our swim suits on-JUST IN CASE!). He took us across to another mangrove island that all sorts of boats were anchored (one big party). He had lots of friends there and we tied the boat up to one of them and we all jumped in the water that was about chest deep (on me). The kids had life jackets on. Then he said that he had to go and pick up his daughter so he left us in the water.  :o :o :o  We got some money before he took off and waded over to a boat that sold pinchos (barbecue chicken on a stick). Carlos has a pocket in this swim shorts so they change was put in there and of course got soak.  :D :D :D We had to take turns eating because someone had to hold the food and someone else had to hold the kids. Cousin returned about the time we finished eating. Then he took us home. I think I got a bit burnt again but not too much.

We went out to dinner last night to celebrate Father's Day. It was nice with the exception when the sun went down, the mosquitoes came out for only about a half hour or so.

Today, my oldest step-daughter, her husband, & their two kids went off to San Juan. SIL drove them. They are spending the night there and flying home really early tomorrow morning. SIL will also be staying with them tonight for a break. We are now babysitting my FIL & the puppy. (Yes, my SIL got a puppy). Don't know if she will just spend one night or two but we told her we have stuff for two nights if she wants to stay. (We also have the BMW to go to the house if need be-but Carlos doesn't like to drive the BMW.) It is so quiet without the kids (who have been here since we arrived). Both Carlos & I have mixed emotions about it. On one hand, it is nice to have quiet without the 20 questions about EVERYTHING but we are truly going to miss them.

The other day, I was folding towels when the 6 year old asked, "Whatcha doing?" I asked her, "What does it look like I'm doing?" Then she asked, "Why are you folding towels?" Some of her questions are unbelieved. "Why are we stopping at a fruit stand?" I noticed that there are times when she will say, "Why" and then pause for a second or two. In other words, she will start to ask a question before she even knows what she is going to ask. And when you answer her, her follow-up question is usually, "How come?" You don't know whether to laugh or not.

yes... I have just placed it in my wallet, that way it'll be with me when I continue my job hunting process on Monday
and so this morning I went in to talk with the folks over there; they asked me some job-related questions, and I gave straightforward answers. However, the person I spoke to mentioned that there were no current positions (matching my skills/abilities) that they could place me in, but they would keep me posted. What I need to do now is call them at the beginning of each week, so that they know I'm still looking for work, and they keep me in the system.

However, I still need to continue to look for work elsewhere; i.o.w, not focus solely on one place.

When I worked at the golf course, I used to work my birthday, in order to get the day after off. Being it is the fourth and the fireworks run late and stuff, I thought this was a good deal.  I have had to work the past 5 years, setting up, tearing down, and supervising students for the petting zoo in the local town celebration... This year I somewhat refused (due to the school cutting my extended contract) and now I have holy hell on my hands...  It is not only my birthday, but my husbands as well, for everyone one else it is just a holiday. :P

I get that.... I don't know if I'd work my birthday if it fell on a holiday....we get paid time and a half for 5 of the holidays a year and if it fell on one of those I would work only problem is...we can't req any days off during a holiday week if we want the time and a half.

Every city job that I have worked.  If you worked a holiday you got time and 1/2 and then the ability to take another day off in replacement of your holiday.  My last city job was the best.  I could choose to be paid overtime (for anything over 40 hours/week) or get time and a half off as vacation time.  Since I never needed the $'s (and most ended up going to taxes, as it put me in another bracket) and I love vacation - I always took vacation time!

Those may wait because we will probably go to Home Depot to look at flooring for our new porch (that I haven't taken a pic of yet to put up on my house thread-but I will). Carlos wants to paint one wall of the said porch. I am hoping that tomorrow we can hit the beach. That will be the best time-in the middle of the week. I don't want to go on the weekend-too d@mn crowded. I'm also hoping that Friday SIL & I can hit the casino. Our time here is winding down-one more week.

On our way to the casino, something didn't feel/sound right. SIL pulled the BMW over to the side of the road. Sure enough, the back tire was flat. BMW's do not have spare tires. She looked for a card that had the # for roadside assistance. She wasn't getting very far. The # she called wasn't the right place and they transferred her to a place that didn't have her file. As she was still on the phone with them, some guy pulled up and asked what the problem was. She told him (in Spanish) and also told him that she was about ready to call a tow truck. He said that would be too expensive and said that he would go to a gas station and get "air in a can" or something like that. He also offered her a beer (that she refused).  ;D ;D ;D  About 10-15 minutes later, he came back with the can but the tire wasn't holding the air. He said that there was a muffler place around the corner and we followed him there. Actually, it was a tire place. They took the tire off and it was shot. Luckily, they had a used tire the right size. (BMWs use small tires). They said the tire was guaranteed for a week.  ??? Our "savior" stuck around and was talking to SIL and also offered a beer-again. We both took one, this time. Come to find out he was a cop. I was disappointed to find out that he was married because he seemed very nice and he & SIL seemed to hit it off. (I keep hoping for her.)

With a new/used tire on the BMW, we headed to the casino where our luck didn't get much better. Yup-lost my @$$. I did manage to win a little back toward the end but not enough to recoup my loses. I actually walked out with some $$ but not as much as I walked in with.

We came back here and ate. Now, my internet is VERY SLOW!!  >:( >:( >:(

Hopefully, our next trip to the casino will be more profitable.

Carlos finished the majority of the floor on the porch. He is leaving the meticulous stuff for my SIL because she is so much better at that sort of thing. We were thinking about dinner and was about to take out pasta sauce and called to see if they were coming over for dinner. She told me that she was about to ask us if we wanted to go over there-and she was planning on making spaghetti.  :D ;D ;D ;D  Too funny.

My other SIL called to tell us they will be in Vermont on Thursday. If we don't see them then, we will probably see them next weekend in Conn.

Why do these things happen to me? My daughter was having a pool party for her daughter at my house so it
seemed like a good idea for my wife and me to escape the kiddies for awhile and take a ride on the motorcycle.
As I was riding a freaking bee flew into my nose and stung me right below my nostril. It hurt like hell, I only hope it
wasn't a wasp because I have a slight allergy to wasp stings meaning I swell up pretty bad but nothing else. So far
no swelling but a lot of pain. Now I don't know what's worse; being stung by a bee in the nose or everyone else
laughing at me for being stung in the nose.

Not while riding but I did get stung on the lip by a bee when I was a kid. My lip swelled up. Talk about having a fat lip.

Also, one time Carlos & I were in the dinghy after tying the Big Dog up to the mooring. He was rowing and I was sitting there and all of a sudden, OW-on my arm. Then OW again on the same arm. Carlos told me to take off my shirt. So, there I was in a row boat on Lake Champlain talking off my shirt. It was a yellow jacket that went up the sleeve of my tee shirt. Nailed me twice and I had two welts for a couple of days.

For some reason, they seem to like me and I can't tell you how many times I have been stung. So, when I hear/see a bee and I run. If there is one in the kitchen and Carlos is upstairs, I will call him to come get it. And he obliges.  ;)

They always seem to go after the sensitive areas don't they. It sucks because there is really nothing you can do. I mean you still have
to keep control of the motorcycle so you can't flail around or swat or anything. You have to grit your teeth and keep riding. Oh, and
do an awful lot cursing.

And he obliges.  ;)

Cat

That is what I'm hoping to avoid, a really fat lip. Last time I was stung it was on my wrist, it didn't swell right away but the next day I looked
like Popeye. It took days for the swelling to go down.

June has been an overall good month for me. There was about 5 or 6 days where I didn't get along with my mother, but then we made up again.

Hopefull we fight less and less as the months and years go by. Also, me fighting might have to do with my maturity rather than having anything to do with her.

I think things are going to be fine for me in the future.

The past few years since about 2007 or 2008 have been hard. Hopefully I've paid for my mistakes and don't have to pay for them anymore.

Howard, I think it was a bumblebee. they're slow a lumbering and only the females sting and then only if they are provoked.
Me ramming my face into it's ass was provocation enough I guess.

We did invite them to Vermont next summer. Hopefully, they will take us up on the invite. We have to leave here before we usually get up. Then we have the LONG drive to San Juan and then fly back to Vermont. We won't be home until Wednesday.

I basically lived at the ballfield last week, feeding all the officials and Umps.  Those people eat ...and eat...and eat.  I honestly do not know how they can go out on the field in all that equipment after they've eaten four sevings of food.  8-P

While I was there some guy (an Ump, I think...although he never umped one of our games and I never saw him in a uniform  :-\\) thought it would be cool to clean his glasses on my friends rear-end...the next day he decided to run his hand down the outside of my leg and up the inside (stopping just before he got to you-know-where!!!  :o). He went to one of the officals and told him that my friend kicked him out of the Hospitality Building, not true. He also said my other friend told him to use her rear to wipe his glasses, well really he said "She asked for it."  ???.  He also said he has every right to be there and he comes up to the field "out of the goodness of his heart"...I don't really know how that justifies him groping women while he is there.

that happens on our campus all time... someone goes into the convenience store on campus to get a soda and doesn't want to bring in the heavy assed suitcase they lugged from the bus stop so they leave it by the door. Instead of making an announcement inside the store asking if the owner is possibly shopping they call us to report a possible bomb  ::)

had a lady report a box shipped to her residence... she didnt order anything and got scared...... called us... we opened the package
turns out a friend sent her (an elementary school teacher) chalk, erasers, markers, crayons etc....  she forgot her friend lived in Boca Raton..... no good deed and all that jazz........  :D

I hate the last couple of weeks before school finishes.  It's such a mad rush getting to all the end of year activities.  Elizabeth is doing a play and needs a costume.  James has a Greek day and needs a toga making.  We have two parents evening and an open afternoon to go to.

And we rashly suggested Elizabeth could have a sort of end of term/independence day party this weekend

This evening I was driving around the supermarket car park when the trolley guy comes out from between some parked cars with a huge stack of trollies (maybe 15 or so).  He nearly wacks the front of my car!  doesn't stop or anything, wanders down the aisle and then stops for no reason in the middle so I couldn't get into the space I was going for!  >:(

Sitting in the airport in Orlando. Our plane is delayed. Figured I would waste a little time by "playing" on the laptop (i.e. coming here for a bit). I can't stay on too long because 1. laptop is working on the battery, 2. Our internet connector (Sprint MiFi) is roaming which means $$$$$ I could use the free wifi but it is not very secure. 3. We should be boarding the plane in about a half hour or so.

Sure! Among the places we visited today, included an AFLAC insurance office and an Allstate insurance office. Each place I went to, I told the person about my skills, mentioning the typing and other computer-related things.

Sat on the plane about 2 & a half hours before taking off. There was a problem with the windshield that was repaired. Then it was a bumpy ride most of the way home. You could see the lightning outside the plane. I give the pilot kudos because he tried to go around them as much as he could. When we finally got to the airport, we circled a few times before FINALLY landing. Step-daughter #2 was there waiting for us. (We called earlier to tell her we were delayed). When we got to the house, Step-son & his wife were already in bed since it was just about midnight.

Didn't sleep too well and woke up about 7. The kids took us out for breakfast to celebrate Carlos' birthday/Father's Day. Then we went to Best Buy to pick up my computer. I tried to sleep a bit on the ride home but didn't really succeed.

When we got home, Electra told me where she disappeared to. For some reason, she got closed in our bedroom. She must have been there for a few days since the cat sitter called a few days ago. Without any proper place to pee & poop, you can guess where she did-Yup, that's right-ON THE BED!!  ::) So, I am now washing sheets and bedding.  8-P She has not stopped talking since we got in. (I have both of them on my lap right now.)

Then I had to put the computer back together. The keyboard never worked since I got this computer. When I brought it back to Best Buy, the guy hooked it up and it worked. Now, when I tried to hook it up again, it didn't. I just don't get it.  ::)

For all the trials & tribulations, it still is GOOD to be home.

I forgot to mention that when we were on the plane at the San Juan airport, I looked out the window and saw a bunch of cops around a plane. Some of the cops had machine guns. There was also a camera guy. I took out my camera and started taking pics. I couldn't really see what was going on. I just uploaded the pics to the computer and I could see they were from ICE (Immigrations and Customs Enforcement) and CBP (Customs Border Control). When we were getting on to the plane, they asked us what our country of residence was. Still don't know what was going on, but I have pics of it.
