Subject: Feelings and news for the month of July...2011 edition

Written By: nally on 06/30/11 at 11:52 pm

I didn't see one started yet, so I thought I'd do it this time.

My birthday is coming up, so that should be pretty special. Other than that, not too much is going on at my end.

Hopefully it'll be a decent month for everyone! :)

We are having a party on SUnday, sort of in honour of Independence Day!!  Elizabeth is having some school friends round as an end-of-year get together,  We are serving pulled pork, pizza, buffalo chicken (if I find a recipe) and Ben and Jerry's ice cream

I've got long hours tomorrow 12-6,one of the cartguys is on vacation for 3 weeks so that means more money and probably more stress.

My brother & his wife stopped by for a few minutes today. They are in town visiting my niece.

Going down to Conn. tomorrow. We seem to have an annual family reunion down there. I think my mother and most of my nieces will be the only ones NOT there. I called my sister ("Dawg") just to make sure that we do have an invite. She said we are invited but she is not too sure how things are going to go because she has to pick up our other sister at the airport (about an hour & half away from her house) and she doesn't have time to get the spare room ready nor about dinner & such. After I hung up the phone and talked to Carlos for a few minutes, I called her right back and said that WE would pick up our sister since we are going to be going right past the airport anyway. That would mean that we have to leave only about an hour (or less) earlier than we had originally planned on. That way, "Dawg" would have time to do things she wouldn't have had time to do otherwise.

As for me, finally got around fixing some lights in my new apartment yesterday.

The first ones are always the hardest to do, especially when you find out they haven't built in a long enough electrical wire to attach to the lamp... >:( Or the screws that went with the lamp don't fit... >:(

Oh well, I got six lights done in the end. Not bad, considering I'm not really into DYI.

In Connecticut right now. Two of my sisters are here & my brother is on his way over (don't know if my dad will be with him). We are going to my other sister's house later tonight for her party. Don't know about fireworks tonight because it may rain. We will be going home tomorrow so I will have more time to write.

It was fun!  One little bit of silliness involving drawing on one another (I hope the pen mark will wash out of Elizabeth's t-shirt).  We played table fooball, Pictionary, families game (very noisy game this one) stations (themed around American cities) and had pizzas, Buffalo chicken, pulled pork sandwiches, coleslsaw and salad, followed by Ben amd Jerry's ice cream

If anyone wants to buy some Avon... my daughter is trying to get top seller for their Avon fundraiser.  It is to support the Fair princess program that she won last year.  She has gained more confidence and speaking ability from this program than any other program.  It delivers to your home, and the sales are all online.  Just let me know and I will PM you the information.  All proceeds go directly to the program.

I sold Avon for a short period of time. I lost $$$ on it.  :-\\  I thought that Avon basically sold itself so I didn't think I would have to do much selling. In those days, I had to buy the orders and costumers paid me back. I also had to buy my own samples and had to go door-to-door. I didn't do that too much. Several times, people would place orders but a lot of times I couldn't find them when the orders came in so I was stuck with their orders that I had paid for.   >:(  I wasn't a very good salesperson. I think if I were to do it now, on-line sales are probably better than having to go door-to-door. But, I don't know.

Oops, forgot to add to PM me the info.  :-[  Don't know if I will buy anything but I will take a look.

Will do Cat!  I know Mary Kay is still this way, people have to stock the product and such. This is the Avon Fundraising program, and we don't touch a thing.  Just send out notifications to let people buy it.  AND sooo many more products (I do not use their make up, or scents - except I am buying sweet honesty for my girls, and neices Christmas stockings - I think it is a perfect FIRST PERFUME).. I am buying a few Maxi dresses, and sandals though - LOL

There are a few products that I really love from Avon, the eyeliner (glimmer sticks, I think they're called) are really good (long lasting and don't run) and the SuperShock mascara is one of the best I've used.

So please send me the info!

I wish Avon still made Zany. Not saying that I would wear it (well maybe) but when I was doing Summer Stock, the first play was Neil Simon's Chapter Two. (Wow, I just posted about that the other day in ninny's Person of the Day thread). Anyway, there was a scene where one of the actresses would spray perfume. Our prop person got a bottle of Zany for it. So every night (except Mondays) & twice on Wednesdays for two weeks, I smelled Zany. I'm sure if I smelled it again, it would bring right back to standing in the Stage Right wings, making sure the prop table had everything it needed (including that bottle of Zany.)

Thanks

Wow that's cool, good luck to your daughter. :)

I have some leftover pulled pork... from the fourth.  I am needing a good recipe!  Already put some southwest chipotle seasoning in it for some tacos, and used that with some cheese, bbq sauce to make some wonderful bbq quesadillas...  now what  :-\\

Had an unscheduled visit to the dentist's today. :( One of my molars ias been playing up lately (with cold drinks and chewing), so I decided to have him have a look at it. We both agreed there's a cavity there, so I'll be coming back next Monday.

On the plus side...only two weeks left before our vacation/holiday. 8)

Busy busy week.

Last night we had the "introduction to year 5" meeting for James followed by the preview of the school drama competition at Elizabeth's school (she had a small role).

This evening Elizabeth and I taught James's cub pack how to orienteer at the local campsite.  The map is one Dai drew in 1996 and is somewhat out of date now!  But we were able to explain the techniques and they all completed a short course.

Tomorrow we are heading down to South Wales for the weekend. It's Dai's mum's birthday

Thanks, I already did that!  Thinking about BBQ Pizza, just wishing I had a boboli crust right about now!  I hate homemade pizza crust :P

I already did the tacos and quesadillas.  Not really sure if I want to do enchilada's they seem to close, baked beans won't be a huge hit here, I just cannot get my mind wrapped into a "shepards" pie recipe.  I thought about Pulled Pork, BBQ sauce, corn and black beans, and topping it with corn bread; not sure if I want to start the oven for that.  AND tamale's are just too much work that I do not want to go through!

Things that make you go hmmm

Tomorrow is the Birthday of my brother Joel.  I don't think much is planned, but we'll probably have dinner somewhere Joel would like to eat at.

I had a blast last night! Jen was excited to see me....I loved the set she did and when I talked to her after the show she invited me to come back on Sat. They (she and two other comics who also performed) were doing two shows on Sat.... she put me on her guest list so I got in free to both the 7pm and 9pm show. A lot of the jokes were the same but they were funny so I didn't mind. Plus my favorite part of stand up comedy is watching the comics riff on the audience.  I got riffed on a little tonight IT WAS AWESOME!!!! anyway- I heart Jen Kober in a major way!!!!!  One of the other comics, Gulden, a female comic from Turkey was there as well, she invited me to a show she's doing in LA Monday. I don't know if I can make it... or if I can really justify the 180 mile round trip after going to Ventura two nights in a row... plus I work on Monday so I'd be cutting it short... who am I kidding I sort of really wanna go! because how often do people who've actually been on TV personally invite me anywhere?

Well...this evening (Sunday) I went to a "going away" party for this friend of mine who I know from church; she is moving across the country to the East Coast (I think for work-related purposes), so I went to her place and hung around for about four hours, and about 20 other people were there too (I also know the majority of them). Of course we're all gonna miss having her around. In addition, I informed most of them that my birthday is tomorrow (Monday) and that I plan to have a good time. They all wished me a happy bday. :)

so I think I officially have a stalker..... On Sunday she texted me three times and called me twice.... today she texted me and called me.

I told her I really wasn't sure I could make the show tonight... (feasibly and fiscally it doesn't make a whole lotta sense) I didn't tell her that I'm just saying I'm exhausted from the weekend and just put $52 worth of gas in the car....if I drive to LA tonight I will have to tank up again before work on thursday - that's another $50.

When I texted her I didn't know if I could make the show because I thought it was too soon to my getting out of work and might not make the drive she offered to let me crash on her couch.....lol I just met this person and know nothing about her.... then when I called her to say I absolutely can't make it she said no problem but if I wanted to come to any of her other shows I was always welcome to stay on her couch anytime. I anticipate more texts and calls in my future  ::)

Part of me is like- maybe I should go tonight I'm cuz, like watching a train wreck or rubber necking at a traffic accident I'm curious about how crazy she can get  ;D  the other part of me wonders if she becomes famous how I can benefit from it... ie if she's willing to let me crash on her couch maybe she's willing to let me sit in the green room when she does the George Lopez show or if she gets a 1/2 hour comedy maybe I can get the VIP seats I always see people get when I go to tapings and if they do something at paley I can be in the green room there... I'm such a whore!  ;D

naw I can take her.....obviously I would never take her up on the offer to stay over, nor would I take a drink if she offered one.... I think it's funny.... weird but totally funny and yeah I would totally take the offer to go to a show and be in the vip section... I know she's legite I've seen her TV clips...she's been on Comics Unleashed with Byron Allen and did an ep of the Drew Carey Show....apparently she did two pilots that didn't get pick up but that doesn't mean it can't happen sometime in the future....

I do attract strange people in my life so this is nothing new... I think I put a weird vibe out that attracts psychos but only because they amuse me so much!  ;D

I started July by leaving Majorca and returning to England. I had a mostly enjoyable trip to Majorca with my housemates a fortnight ago. The day after I got home, I preceeded with distributing Avon brochures through letterboxes down my street (I became an Avon lady nearly three weeks ago). I have already processed several orders from people I already know and have many more to come.

Right now I'm really excited about tonight because I'm going to a gig in Wembley to see Primal Scream, Jessie J, Eliza Doolitle, Diddy Dirty Money, Kelis and Professor Green.

YAY!!!  Welcome bacl!

WHICH reminds me our County Fair Princess/Queen program is finishing their fundraiser!  It is Avon Products, lots of great things for Christmas Presents are on sale there.  Pick something up, everything gets shipped directly to your home, so no worries about shipping and that.  My oldest daughter, who is currently Fair Princess, is wanting to get Top Seller.  If you want to take a look (it isn't just perfume, makeup, and jewelry anymore) just let me know! I will be happy to pm you the information!

Right now I'm really excited about tonight because I'm going to a gig in Wembley to see Primal Scream, Jessie J, Eliza Doolitle, Diddy Dirty Money, Kelis and Professor Green.

Well at least she is funny!  (I was really worried it was going to be like the "yo mama" kid  :-\\)

and the fact that she has another nationality somewhat explains her friendliness!  You know, us Americans are suspicious of everyone ;)

Yeah she is funny she has this one joe that killed me. I couldn't find it on line tho. Something about pulling the troops out of and then sending them back to Afghanistan. She says the way to win the war is to show them footage of the la riots. Fires, turning cars over etc.....and that was after the lakers won if that's how we act when we're happy imagine what we'd do when we're pissed  ;D

I started July by leaving Majorca and returning to England. I had a mostly enjoyable trip to Majorca with my housemates a fortnight ago. I have already processed several orders from people I already know and have many more to come.

cool  I feel awesome now that my allergy's are cleared and ears are clean.  I can quietly hear myself typing.  I didn't get to sleep right away and thought about picking up a guitar and playing the pick for Paint it black and Hotel California.  I want to do some video stuff if I can.  I ordered C harp and neck holder thingy.  My mom is going to talk with me after lunch about making that SSI decision.  I started hating my room again, but now that it's a mess I think I like it better.  It least I can see my stuff now.

Going to the boat which is hopefully in the water with the mast up. We are going to bring some things there and put the boom up. We are planning for our first overnighter tomorrow night (weather permitting but the forecast is supposed to be good).

Then this evening: AUCTION!!!!   ;D ;D ;D ;D

Got a lot of nifty neat stuff last night including THIS:

http://www.leadpipeposters.com/detail.cfm?stockno=817

(Note how much they are asking for it and we paid $50 for it-and ours is framed!) We did not buy that for resale-that is going up on our wall.

Things were going pretty cheap last night. The most we paid for one item was $60. The majority of stuff we got we only paid $5 for. Gotta love auctions.

In a bit, we will start getting ready to go to the boat. It will be our first overnighter-well at least that is the plan. We shall see if that actually happens because whenever we plan, something comes up.

When we got there and were looking around, I saw that poster and just screamed to me. When it came up, he said that he couldn't even say it because there were kids in a audience and he said something that I can't remember but then he looked at me said, "CAT!" I nodded my head and said, "Oh yeah"-this was BEFORE the bidding. I KNEW it was mine-and I think he did, too. I was actually at my last bid (wasn't going to go any higher) but I guess no one else wanted to, either. Lucky for me.  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Went to the midnight showing of Harry Potter last night!  Took the girls, and the two nephews, loaded up the car with snacks and went to the drive in!  Only 1 didn't make it through the movie! We only saw it in 2-d, but it was awesome!  So happy the drive-in had it and it is only 5 miles from our house!  Yay!  Lots of times they don't have movies on release dates cause of cost!  They had 87 vehicles, and with most with 4 movie goers or more, ours had 6, I would say they had a good crowd!

Yes this drive-in is about 3 or 4 years old now.  It was just built to replicate an old 50's/60's drive-in's has the neon lights all around the building, it has terraces for the cars to park on, so there is good viewing. But there are no speaker's to hang off your windows, and drive away with.  Just tune in the radio station.  We enjoy it, it only costs 3.00 for children under 13 and 7 for adults.  You are allowed to take your own coolers, snacks and etc... and they always show double features, so you get the 2 movies for the price of 1.  LOVE it, the movies are not always new releases however (they still haven't shown Transformers, much to some peoples dismay).  I was happy to see they had Harry Potter and even more so the 12:01 viewing, otherwise we probably would not have done it.  No lines, no pre-ticket purchase, and we ended up taking the sister-in-laws boys as well.

I am sure I have been to two of the three that are mentioned: Hyde Park Drive-in & Overlook Drive-in in Poughkeepsie. They are in my old stomping grounds. I think it was the Overlook where we went to see Snow White when I was about 3 years old. There was another one that was closer to where we lived called the Fishkill Drive-in which closed many, many moons ago. It was the last drive-in I had been to. I was 15 and out on a date with my sister "Dawg" in back seat as a chaperone. We went to see Grease & American Hot Wax and it was I received my very first kiss.

we spent the weekend finishing off Elizabeth's room.  We made a collage of various US memorabilia and framed it and also put loads of framed photos on the wall.

we also chose the paper for James's room.  He currently has a tropical fish design but he is swapping it for an African landscape paper complete with animals.

Went to Ikea today to buy some more photo frames for Elizabeth.  we also took James's new bike back to the shop for a minor adjustment. They ended up replacing (and upgrading) the bottom bracket for us because of a defect in the original one.

My sister is going to have a baby somewhere this month.

It was due July 14, but of course life doesn't work out perfectly like we predict so her baby is past the due date.

I predict the baby's going to be born sometime in the next week.

-Went to get Carlos a new I.D.
-Went to the co-op. Saw my massage therapist that I have been meaning to set up an appointment. I was planning on doing it next week but he will not be around. So that means I need to wait another week or two.  :\'( :\'( :\'(
-Went to a second hand store-couldn't find anything I liked that fit.  :\'( :\'( :\'( Carlos found some shorts so it wasn't a total loss.
-Went to T.J. Maxx-find something I liked that fit but it had a few stitching coming out so it wasn't worth the price. So I walked out of the store empty handed.  :\'( :\'( :\'(
-Went to lunch. First we were going to go to the all-you-can-eat Chinese buffet but they were closed for renovations. That was just as well because I always eat too much when we go there anyway so we went to a place that I had a nice chef salad. And it was yummy, too-with the exception of the dressing. The first stuff I got I didn't like but they gave me another kind that I did.
-We wanted to go to a shop that sold lighting stuff (we want new shades for our living room lamps) but we couldn't find the place.  :\'( :\'( :\'(
-Then we went to K-Mart. I wanted a new pillow. I was tossed between two of them-so I got both.  :D ;D ;D I figured having an extra pillow isn't a bad thing. I can always use the other one on the boat. We did look at lamp shades but there wasn't anything that we liked.  :\'( :\'( :\'(
-We took the car to be inspected. We were an hour ahead of schedule (because we couldn't find the lamp place) but we decided to try anyway. It was supposed to be done at the end of June but we were gone the entire month and didn't realize that it needed to be inspected until last week. Whenever we go to the dealer, I always say hello to the general manager because he is a friend of ours. But he is on vacation this week.  :\'( :\'( :\'( Well, so much for them getting us in early. We waited, and waited, and waited, and waited. At least we had a t.v. to watch. I should have brought the laptop with us. The one thing that wouldn't past inspection was one tire. The one on the other side was close to being non-passing so Carlos bought two new tires. After being at the dealer THREE HOURS!!!!  :o :o :o :o It was FINALLY done.

Now, hopefully I still get to go.  I got summoned for jury duty starting Monday.  Crossing my fingers that they don't call my number for Monday.  ;D

I just don't want to lower myself to her level.  In a way I feel sorry for her.  She was raised by a single mom who was (and probably still is) hooked on meth.  Her "grown up" role model was selfish and didn't put her child first.  I think that is where she gets the "it's all about me" crap.  She still needs a can of grow the hell up.  :D

Started a major purge of my closet today. Only did some old jeans. Many had holes in the knees (I kept them for work jeans) and all that I purged (either in the trash or for the upcoming clothing drive) no longer fit.  :\'( :\'( :\'(  I still have a lot more to go through. I'm plant crazy I might have told you that but I'll tell you again because :D.  One host plant for the buckeye that will survive in my garden is tall verbena.  I like the monkey flowers it will host on too, but I kind of want some per for my garden and not just annuals.  Yhe grey hairstreak hosts on passion vines.  I use to have one and didn't know that was why a male butterfly was hanging around.  I use to love watching the bumble bees.  Well the Gazanias do well in the heat and I love those, the coriopsis I have whatever variety does well in the heat also and butterflies will  like eating  that.  I was thinking about getting some milkweed as another butterfly food option.  I don't really have any other real favorite plants except for something weird or something so I went to the zone 9 tropical site and got a bunch of names of weird looking plants I'm going to try and find the AHS info for.

Hi beauties !! I'm back for a few days before to go on holidays again.
I guess I was born upon the tide, living on an endless ride..... That seems to be my fate.
But ever since I anchored this cove I'll be penguin for long.

Well , now I'll speak it out what's been over Juin and July. I moved home, knew I got a glaucoma in my left eye and lost a lot of vision, funny being a nearly one-eyed sailor, pity I don't smoke, so not a pipe in my mouth (I wouldn't mind looking like Popeye in my old age ).
So with one thing and another I had little or no spare time to share with you my  ether's eternal friends.

I'm happy of knowing I didn't forget how to read and write. Though most of your chitchat has no sense in my brain, never mind, there's always a drop of fresh water to drink through a straw as I pitch and I toss. I mean I always get a kick out of here.

This summer seems to be nicer than last one, hot sun is merciful and doesn't show up scorching everyone. So far we've had cloudy days as today is, and to my delight in our new home no need air conditioner  at all.

My best wishes to all of you

;)

Kids are off school at the moment.  Dai had yesterday off work.  When I had finished work (early afternoon) we drove across to a country park and met up with some friends.  Kirstin and her two children are visiting from the US.  We had chance for a catch up chat whilst the kids played on the playground, then we went for a walk around some woods, finding various carved tree stumps and a maze along the way.  We played our own rules of rounders/baseball and then went to Jean and Dave's for dinner (they are Kristin's in-laws and also friends of ours).

After dinner we had a brief Skype chat with Jean and Dave's son Steve.  We worked out we hadn't seen him for at least 9 years!  He's been living in France and Sweden.  All in all a great day.

Today after work I met the children in town and we went to a circus skills activity in the local park.  The library has 'Circus Stars' as the theme for its summer reading scheme and they had put on the free event.  One of the clowns organising the activities was my drama teacher when I was 14+.  we both decided it was too depressing to work out how long ago that had been!

HOLA Karen !! nice hearing from you, I hope God kept all of you in the palm of his hand.

As for the very lazy eye it was going on day after day as I didn't realize it. Now it's under control but I already lost eighty per cent of his vision, and no surgery is helpful.
The must is to keep and care what it's left, and so I do, eye drops in the morning and the same at nights, and to pray Mother nature let me keep her in sight.

We live at the same town, only a three minutes walk from last home.  The best is we changed our front door from West to East. In this latitude and this coast East is heaven and West is hell.
In the morning, rising sun knocks your door to say hello, stays in your balcony until noon  and then he rolls up the roof and doesn't disturb no more.
At noon sea breeze begins to blow to ease the rest of the day. So I guess this summer is gonna be the best so far. I'll tell you.
As for the winter, I think heater'll work well.

Flat is bigger than last one, five rooms, three toilets, kitchen and living room all laid out in two floors. Children up, we down.
It's good sitting on the terrace to wait stars showing up, before we couldn't do that Karen, so I think I will be better now.

kisses and best wishes

Welcome back, Paco and I am sorry to hear about your vision problems. I too, have a lot of vision loss (not from glaucoma but from Retinitis Pigmentosa-RP) which effects my peripheral & night vision. I am not too sure how Spain feels about medical marijuana, but it is supposed to help glaucoma. Of course there is some debate whether it works or not.

I'm sorry Cat, we two have alike effects. At first I got a real shock when I knew I will never see as so far so long, but now I don't mind, provided I can drive and work until the day I'll get retired.

"High intraocular pressure (IOP) is a known risk factor for glaucoma and can, indeed, be reduced by cannabinoids and marijuana. However, the effect is too short lived and requires too high doses, and there are too many side effects to recommend lifelong use in the treatment of glaucoma. The potential harmful effects of chronic marijuana smoking outweigh its modest benefits in the treatment of glaucoma."

I guess I can cope with glaucoma easier than with an overdose of marijuana dear Cat. Nope in Spain medical community are mostly against and not for.
I remember I slept as a log in my youth after smoking just a few of that they called Maria, now for me the unique Maria I long for is my wife and the wind called Maria.
Thanks for link, anyway,

I really didn't read it all but there is really no evidence of harmful effects of chronic marijuana smoking-unlike tobacco.

Don't know about in Spain but in the UK it is often resin mixed with tobacco that is smoked (or so I've heard  http://www.inthe00s.com/smile/11/angel13.gif) so I bet the risks are the same

Well, if you use it WITH tobacco then there are some health issues to worry about.

In case you haven't realize, I am an advocate for medical marijuana (and legalization). I think it helps a variety of illnesses/conditions without the side effects of a lot of synthetic pharmaceuticals.

I'll put this in the weight loss/support thread later...

Not only do I want to fit into clothes again, LOL. But I also don't wanna die young.

I enjoyed my concert at Wembley. As for the Avon job, I realised that I'd made a big mistake by placing several additional orders, which charged me £2.50 each and robbed my chances of earning commission. In the end I had to clear a balance of over £100. Now I am determined to get back on track by placing only one big regular order per campaign.

Went to a picnic where I ate SOOOO much-but everything was SOOOOO good. They are also having History Day in the park today so after we got home, we walked over there. I bought a couple pair of earrings and a couple local history books. The funny thing was, I ran into several people I used to work with when I was volunteering. They all said the same thing, "Haven't seen you in a long time." I did run into someone about a week ago who asked, "Are you still living around here?" Of course I brag about spending time in Puerto Rico and how we bought a house down there. I LOVE bragging about the house to these people because most of them pretty much has their noses stuck up in the air.

Tomorrow I start my diet-AGAIN!!

Started decorating James's bedroom.  Yesterday we stripped off all the old paper and Dai painted three of the walls and the ceiling.  Today Dai and the children papered the one full height wall and put the border around the other three walls.  Dai finished off most of the other paper whilst I took the children to visit my niece for her birthday.

I love doing that too....I live in an area where there are a LOT of people like that and I LOVE bringing up our lake house and showing them pictures of it.  Granted, it's not in some exotic locale like PR, but it's pretty nice....heck, it's bigger than our house HERE!  When people hear it's in Iowa, they kinda' scoff until I explain that it's about the same distance, warmer, less crowded, and about 1/4 of the cost as Wisconsin or Michigan (which is where most of the people around here go)....PLUS, we're on a private lake, which means we don't get the "weekend warriors" who go up there not knowing what the heck they're doing on rented jetskis and boats being idiots!

The thing is, we probably paid less for our house in PR even WITH all the renovations & furniture than you paid for yours in Iowa. I would love to have my own private lake. It sounds very heavenly and peaceful.

I was a pin cushion today. Did it work? I don't know but I had a great massage before hand. I felt VERY light headed afterwards. She said that I wouldn't notice any difference until 12-24 hours afterward.

But, I think today was Groundhog's Day because I saw two groundhogs in different places. One when we went to store and after getting out of the car and walking toward the door-there he was. And the second one, he was just sitting on the side of the road as we were heading home.

And the best part was that I got to go for free, thanks to the generosity of my friends' friend.  He didn't have to take me, but he had another extra ticket and offered, since I was going to be in Michigan anyways.

I also partied hard this weekend because it was my friends' tenth wedding anniversary.  They threw an 80s themed party, and it was AWESOME.  Fingerless gloves and crimped hair for everyone! :D

Now I'm wiped out.  I'm supposed to be doing laundry, but after three days of staying up until about 4am, I'm done.  It was so worth it though.

Yesterday, after being home for a while, I started to get so super sleepy. I laid down for a bit but didn't sleep (didn't want to because it would have messed up my sleep last night). Right before going to bed, it wasn't popping anymore. Still sore but no pops.  :o :o :o But, then this morning, it is popping again-with the pain.  :-\\  I may need another session. I don't know. I was just floored at how sleepy it made me.

Today, we took the cats in for their annuals. They both had their nails trimmed (which I found out afterwards that they cost $10.50 for each cat.  :o :o :o Next year, I just might do it myself but I don't know if Electra will let me. :-\\ ) Electra needed her 3rd year rabies shot and got the clean bill of health. Elvira didn't need any shots but she has an ear infection which makes her ears itch. I have some cream for her ears.

So, this afternoon I went bowling with my family; we played three complete games, and my worst one was the last. I could not avoid an open frame in that last game, and I was disappointed about that. Part of the problem has been my stance when approaching the lane and releasing the ball. And the fact that I haven't practiced it on a regular basis (or even had an opportunity to). I actually felt more in control 15 days ago (on my birthday) with the ball, since I achieved better scores then. My all-time high is still 109. Still, I like to have a good time when I go bowling.

That's amazing. Hopefully someday I can do that well.

My mom used to be a good bowler in her younger years, but after injuring her right wrist in a roller skating accident (which permanently dislocated a bone) in late 1989, it hasn't been quite the same for her. However, she did well compared to me when we bowled yesterday.

We got to the dock and put the boom up. Since we didn't cover her last fall, the Big Dog was really filthy. So out came the buckets & scrub brushes. We did that for about an hour and a half and she STILL was filthy-but better.  :o :o :o  I told Carlos that I don't even scrub my house this much! I finally told him that I was done. I know she needed more work but I was done. We took a break & got something to eat. By this time is was late afternoon and the wind really kicked up. I did tell Carlos that wouldn't mind staying at the dock even though it does defeat the purpose. After a few minutes, Carlos said that we were staying. (If we went out, there would be more work to do and we were both REALLY tired from scrubbing.)

Out came the fishing poles. I caught a few (sunnies, white & yellow perch). Carlos wasn't catching ANYTHING. He finally did. He caught a really nice white perch. He was going to try an experiment because cleaning them is such a pain, he half cleaned then, tried to boil them and hoping the scales would just come off. It didn't, and all those fish we caught ended up to be fish food. We didn't have ANY of it.  :\'( :\'( :\'(

Beautiful night last night. The wind died down and I think every star in the universe was out. Since we were at the dock, we decided to take advantage of the boat house and go take a shower. It was about 9 o'clock and we figured no one would be there. It was pretty interesting for me to get there because I couldn't see AT ALL! I did have a flashlight that helped but it only lit a very narrow way. As many years as we have had our boat there, we have never used their showers. And they were really nice, too. So much for thinking we would be the only ones there because two other people came in after us. On the way back, I was walking with the flashlight right in front of me and then I noticed that I was heading right for the lake.  :o :o :o :o Carlos steered me back on the path. It really sucks when you are blind.

We had the front hatch cover up all night which I love when we can do that because we are lying in bed and looking at the stars. Last night, you could even seen the Milky Way. Quiet night. The only problem was, I couldn't sleep.  :-\\ I always have trouble sleeping on the boat-that is because the v-berth is a lot smaller than our king-size bed.

This morning, after drinking our coffee/tea, we did a little bit more scrubbing before coming home. Yup, didn't even make it out of the dock.

Well Cat, toiling at quay it's the must you firstly do in the sailing thing.
Mopping up is one of the facts which keep me apart from having a boat.
BTW take good care.....

a pier is not the best way for a blind, above all if you go ahead with your sight upon the Milky Way in the middle of the night  ::)

I'm sure D.Carlos is always by your side

Enjoy  toil and sail you both have a trade wind to consolidate ;)

I know well, a boat needs constantly upkeep just to stand still by the quay, and not to go sleep at the bottom basin in a windy night.

So most of the week has been spent either in work or getting kit ready.  I still don't think Elizabeth has quite grasped how much bigger and better this camp is going to be compared to any other she had been on.

karen - hope Elizabeth has a great ime (and good weather).  I still have fond memories of some of he Girl Scout camps I wen to.

Ann - Sorry about your mom.  I, too, kinda yelled at my mom a couple weeks ago.  I love her, but she drives me nuts sometimes and I just lost my last ounce of patience.  I was just tired of hearing about everything bad (or presumed bad) that my dad did to her.  I know she complains to everyone about him, but if you are *that unhappy, just do something about it.  Move out.  Move in with your friend.  Stop wallowing in your own misery.  There isn't anything I can do about it but listen, but sometimes I need a break from hearing how terrible her husband is.  Get counseling.  Something.  Anything!

I just came back from a great party. I was a little stressed because I knew I wouldn't know a lot of people there. I went to wish my friend well (she's moving to Austin to teach screen writing at the U) anyway GH producerWendy Riche was supposed to be there but it didn't happen.  :\'(
But tons of other producers were there. The worst part was seeing ppl I graduated with and explaining to them how I haven't been writing and hearing how they are working on all these various (big projects) I always feel like a failure when I hang with them.  :-[

The best part was I met a producer. He has a documentary "most valuable player" it's gonna be on OWN sept 8th anyway hewas in the audience at Paley for theServing Life doc that aired this week on OWN -amazing moving doc on prisoners who provide hospice care to dying prisoners in Angola. Anyway we never met before but we were talking and realized we were both at Paley and he remembered comment I made after the doc. It was kind of surreal because he had quoted me on Facebook and then we meet a week later.

It was avoid night and I finally, now that she's moving, bonded with her kids 5 & 3 they've always been shy and quiet but tonight they totally exploded. It Wasserstein fun to see their personalities.

Cat if you're reading this.

I got why don't owls stay awaken the day like people
Why can't people fly
Where did the sun go
You have pretty white hair  ::)
Why is your hair short
Will you come to Texas and play with me
Why dont you like to fly
Why is that plane up there
Why didn't you eat a brownie before
Why is that fly there.
;D

We need tomorrow otherwise it'd always be today

Dai, James and I decided to head out to enjoy the sunshine today.  We went to [url=http://www.nwleics.gov.uk/pages/moira_furnace}Moira Furnace - a well preserved blast furnace built in 1804.  As well as looking around the museum, blast furnace and lime kilns we went onto the playground.  James and I had a 'who can swing the highest' competition - James won!

I am so sorry that you two have this kind of relationship. Hopefully things can be worked out to some point.
