Subject: How is everything/What's going on/Any new news? Feelings for August

Written By: nally on 08/01/11 at 10:46 am

I didn't see anyone create a new thread for the new month, so I thought I'd give it a go once again.

August... for me, the first week will consist of my home being repainted. All of last month, my family had been reviewing various color options for paint colors, and last week we finally made a decision. So for each weekday this week, the guys will be doing the job. First of all (today), they are washing it all down (in fact, they're here and doing so right as I'm typing this), and this step is expected to take all day. By the end of the week it will be completely repainted!
Also, I am still actively looking for jobs at least once a week, so that's what's going on here.

Fantastic. It comes out on DVD tomorrow.

Just a little update on my house painting...

the first week will consist of my home being repainted.

Yesterday, most everything went well as planned... until the afternoon. Apparently, the machinery which these guys have been using to do the job, had been plugged into our external outlets, and eventually caused an overload in one of the circuits, so that knocked some of our power out. We then called an electrician, who then found the root of the problem: a hot wire in the circuit...which was a serious issue. So then he disabled that wire (last night) and then came back early this morning to fix it. So now all is well with that. And the painters have been running all their machines with a generator so that they don't overload our electrical wiring.

I'm moving some stuff around in my room and will be getting one of my pictures back in my room.  I have a couple of walls that have had some big paint scratched spots for some time that I should paint over or something.

Last week was our County Fair... busy, busy times.  Got all the girls projects done and camper to fair campgrounds, animals to fairgrounds....  Eldest refinished a Desk (my old one that was "olive green" that was passed to me at college from a neighbor - it is now black and pink), made ornaments for a Halloween tree and ( gussied up a tree branch painted black. It was quite Charming), refinished a old metal lawn chair, a ceramic fish, and a jean purse.  My youngest made a mosaic tile nightlight (out of a builders glass block), a cute feather and flowers centerpiece, some tie dye shirts, refinished another old metal lawn chair, bluebird house, and a flower headband.  Both showed their calves, which means a whole week of doing chores and cleaning their pens, water (IT WAS HOT) and more water, rinse, fans repeat...  It was good, but very tiring with all the heat.

NOW this weekend, take the camper to Des Moines and start all over for State Fair.... Girls are both showing their calves in the "feeder" calve show, let the fun begin!  We have been rinsing the calves every morning and night and keeping them under fans for some reason!

The stucco was painted beige (sort of a creamy color), and the door and shutters were painted blue. It was a relief from the stucco being grey for the first ten years.

Yesterday evening as soon as I signed on, we had a power outage for a little while.  My mom took me shopping so I'm kind of hot and headachey now and am probably going to turn off the computer and take a nap.  I got to go back to Home Depot and get me some coreopsis and lantana.  This is the time of year they sell the butterfly plants although I'm not sure if there are any here except the cabbage white.  I'm going to make a row of the coreopsis and gazanias since they seem to do fine in the heat without needing extra shade.

I've got my picture back in my room

Just spent the day at the regional office learning how to use the new computer system.  We should be getting the computer and scanner fairly soon.  I am the only person in my office trained to use the new system and I can already forsee some problems with how the whole thing will work.  Some bits of it are counter-intuitive to say the least.  I've written copious notes - just hope I can understand them when the system goes live!  And hope that I don't strangle my boss when training him on the system!

Just in case you failed to notice: I'm back! :D

We've had a good vacation/holiday. A couple of rainy days, a couple of really wet days, but mostly dry/overcast with sunny spells. Temperatures were mostly below average, apart from a few days in our final week.
I didn't take any pictures the first week (because of the weather), but I made it up in the second week. I still don't have a digital camera, so you'll have to wait for the results... ::)

We are going to fetch Elizabeth back from Scout Camp.  I've had a couple of e-mails from her with very few details - mainly about her being in the newspapers and on the local tv news!  I'm sure she's had a blast.

Hello all long time no hear! As you know I was made redundant and they have been closing down the building I work in which has meant no computer EEK. That was hard!

It has been truely horrible the last two weeks, I can't believe I have been treated so badly by somewhere I have worked for over 20 years  :\'( It kind of breaks my heart.
I have however found a new job which I start tomorrow!?! so no rest for the wicked!
I really wasn't sure about it but the last 2 weeks have just cemented that it is time to get out and move on. I loved my job so much but onwards and upwards or something.....

The strangest thing happened to me today. My last trip to PR, I was able to find a couple of sundresses that weren't made for people who are 7 feet tall. I was wearing one of them when I walked to the store that is across the street. On my way there, a truck passed me and gave me a wolf whistle.  :o :o :o First of all, I didn't think anyone did that anymore. But, I must admit that I was flattered. Then, after I left the store and I was still in the parking lot, this car pulled in and the guy driving stopped the car and said that he was very pleased to see me in a dress which not too many women wear now days. He also told me not to lose any weight because he likes plump women. (I guess I could have taken THAT as an insult. I didn't tell him that the last few days I had been VERY depressed about my weight because it went up 2 lbs for no reason-even though I am dieting.)  :-\\  I did tell him that he made my day. I walked home with a smile on my face.

At first glance I thought you said you were fighting with Mexico!  :D

My bosses daughter died....she was in her late 20s early thirties.....no details as of yet.

a) I think I was...both reps DID have the same accent and couldn't pronounce certain words???  I probably would've gotten father with Mexico ::)

Sorry to hear about your boss' daughter  :\'(

I'm SERIOUSLY thinking about quitting my job....

Should I say 'hurray to blunt men'...? :-\\

Hey Gis long time no see, glad to see you're starting a new job, wish you well in your new one.

Just got off the phone with Medco (again). FINALLY got a rep who wasn't full of BS!  She looked up the pricing (even though the last rep said the COULDN'T), told me I was absolutely right, and said she would have my account credited within 24-48 hours. She even APOLOGIZED :o that I had to go through all of this!  She also said she would "file an internal complaint on Angel" for lying to me and being rude and disrespectful towards me...now, I'm not sure if that last part is ACTUALLY going to happen or not, but at least I'm getting my $$ back!  Going to keep my fingers crossed that I don't have to go through this again when I get my refill ::)

So anyway... last weekend was quite busy for me. This is because yesterday (Sunday) we had a huge birthday celebration for my maternal grandmother, who turns 90 tomorrow. My mom had been planning this party for the last few months, and invited my grandma's cousins from northern California to come down for the celebration, which they did. I had to help out with cleaning up the house; this included a few last minute cleanups in the morning. And then at noon, people started arriving! Also, we arranged for a limo to pick up my grandmother, great-aunts, and a cousin in a limo so that we wouldn't need to go fetch them ourselves (they don't drive long distances, and two of them don't even drive at all anymore). And everything went very well for the party.

I found this message board looking for songs, just by accident, and I think I'm getting hooked on the arcade games.

A few weeks back, I injured my hip and have been more or less bed ridden, I can't walk too often. Pain killers are helping. I should be better in a month’s time, life will get back to normal I suppose. It’s not serious, I just hope I don’t require a minor operation. The injury has provided me to play around on the computer. I usually don’t spend much time on it. This site is quite addictive.

one of the dispatchers from the agency we work closest with just posted on my FB page that the people in her comm center wish I would move over to weekend nights......why???? Because they like me better than the dispatcher currently assigned to weekend nights.

We have two dispatchers assigned to weekend nights... I'm pretty sure I know which one she is talking about... we call the dude mr personality.
Ben Stein sounds jovial by comparisson... guys a pain in the ass to work with and annoying to talk to... so yeah... not really much of stretch to be more likeable than he is.  ::)

That being said, I am sorry about your injury. Hopefully you won't need surgery.

My escape artist was at it again last night. I was in the living room and looked out the window and there was Elvira. How she got out is beyond me (but I have a vague idea). I went out and she took off for the back of the house. I'm glad she goes back there rather than toward the road. All evening, I went outside, called her and a few times I thought I heard her but it was Electra inside. I guess Electra thought I was calling to her. lol Then Carlos told me that he saw her come toward the side porch. I took a flashlight and sure enough, she was under the porch. I called her and called her. She was just camped out under the porch. I finally went back inside. Not too long after that, Carlos went out (to smoke his pipe) and she was waiting at the door to come back in. At least she didn't spend the night outside like she did the last time she pulled this.

That's true; dogs don't speak the language of human beings. But we did find out on Friday that Chloe has a pancreitis condition; some tests were also run at the animal hospital on Saturday. Some medicine was prescribed, and it seems to be working, albeit in small amounts. Still, we gotta take it easy.

We were supposed to go to a concert tonight.  Just before the show started Sarah got sick and we had to leave.  At least the show was free, so I was not out any $$ but I really wanted to see the show.  :(  On the bright side, I missed the post concert traffic, which is a nightmare.  The fair empties out onto a one lane road and it takes forever to get home.

We were at the store the other day and some lady stops and says "Hi! How are you? Having a good summer?".  I go along and answer and ask questions, after she leaves the kids ask "Who was that." and I say "I have no idea!!".

Another time my son and I were trying to park the car at a shopping center and an old lady was walking to her car, she stopped and knocked on my window and started talking to me, saying how much she missed seeing me and that she loved me...to this day I have no clue who the woman was.  ;D

I must have a twin.  :D

Happens to me all the time. I meet a lot of people and I suck at remembering them.

I have one Facebook friend who I engage in convo with all the time. I don't remember meeting her. I don't recall talking to her. I doont know when I last saw her.  I looked at our mutual friends and I obviously met her at Paley at least two, but probably four, years ago.

The weather looks really good today (with the exception that it may be a bit too windy for my taste) so we will be going out.

Our family is remaking our attic into a recreation room. Our attic is huge!!  :D

We also redid our roof 'cause of the hail in the spring.

And we're making the backyard a garden.....thanks to my mother's ideas!  ;D

And finally when we're done with all that, we'll clean up the basement. Talk about spending too much money!!  :o

That's great! Sounds like fun... although I'm sure it'll all look nice when finished. I like reorganization projects; problem is, they often take a very long time to complete.

The attic is beautiful so far.

My 8 year old niece is sooo excited for the basement. Because then she'll have tons of room to run around! The basement has enough room for a 8-year-old to run around and play.

Well, we got a bit farther today. We get out there, Carlos put up those big, white floppy things and I have a major panic attack.  ::)  I don't know what is wrong with me. It is a total irrational fear. And yes, I can swim-quite well actually. Anyway, Carlos was really good about it and he turned on the engine & the big, white floppy things came down along with my anxiety level. We motored around and was about to park for the night. I went to get the anchor ready to throw overboard when I noticed the anchor line was frayed BIG TIME!!! It was basically holding on by a thread. I showed it to Carlos and we both agreed that it wasn't worth the risk so we decided to come home. We could have stayed at the dock again but he decided he wanted to come home.

We are trying to come up with some solutions to my anxieties and Carlos can enjoy his love of sailing. My fear seem to increase with age-or it could be like everything else that is wrong in my life these days-HORMONES!!!!

I just made something up I thought.  I was guessing by your post that your problem has to do with, or is triggered by the sails.  tipaphobia sounds highly possible.  You said later on in the post that you found a problem with the anchor? it's possible that you were bothered because you needed to see that.

These things always seem to come up on a Friday... If you can handle the pain (maybe take some painkillers), wait for Monday - see how you feel by then. That's what I would do anyway.

I didn't noticed the anchor problem until after the sails were down along with my anxiety. The two are not related.

Sometimes things happen to me that seem to be trying to get me to realize something else.  They are often not related in any way.  You wouldn't want to sail out very far and find out you cant drop the anchor.

I have a wheat and lavender bag I use for the same thing.

I took some painkillers this morning but they didn't really help.  Anyway I decided to go to work.  Big mistake! Reaching forward to ride my bike was really painful.  I should've called in to say I'd be late and then walked.

In the afternoon I called my doctors, they could offer me an appointment on Tuesday evening!  So I went to the walk-in clinic.  A nurse assessed me and decided I needed my heart checking out, given my family history and the fact that movement didn't really make the pain worse.  Everything checked out fine.  So I'm taking Ibuprofen and paracetemol and hoping it gets better quickly.  If not I'll go to the doctors on Monday or Tuesday and get a prescription for something stronger.

Update on our dog: we took her to the vet's office this morning for the ultrasound (so we could try to find out what's wrong with her); we are awaiting the results. Meanwhile, she did finally eat some food last night at about 5:30, so that's a good sign. (She hadn't eaten any food since Tuesday night.)

I think my hip is getting better. I can sleep through the night now.  I have an appointment with an orthopaedic surgeon next month. My body might be producing too much calcium. It might be a back thyroid issue. I think I also have bursitis.  However,  I’m attending a function for the first time in 3 or 4 weeks tomorrow. It’s a fundraising event to aid orphans in the Middle East and Asia.  If I can sit on a chair for the duration ( dinner included), I will be so happy.

Our local supermarket doesn't do that.

Last time I told you I was going to the thrilling supermarket ::) I don't think I told you that I got some plants.  Most of them seemed they would do better in pots then in the ground so I potted stuff this morning.

It's a good sign she ate.

Yes, I know. But she hardly ate anything last night, after we brought her home again. This worried us.

By the way, the ultrasound results showed no tumors, but a small liver organ. It could be that Chloe might've had something like this all her life, and it could not be detected early enough. We took her back in this morning; we even had some questions which we needed to ask the vet. Most importantly, "Is there a chance that (this disease) is curable? Does Chloe have a chance?" The way things look, we're not too sure. :-\\

The supermarket thing was ok. A hot dog & an ear of corn. (Grabbed a bag of chips on our way out). We were there for about 10 minutes or so. Then it was off to the marina. They had already started to cook the pig and we sat and talked with the few people who were there. I felt a bit out of place because they were saying things like, "When we down this river, or that river..." or "We had a hard time going through the locks, here or there." I just looked kind of sheepish and said, "We usually go about a mile up the lake and then come home again."  :-[ We have had our boat there forever and this is the first time we met them. And apparently, they have these pot lucks about once a month. But our boat is on what is called the North Dock & theirs are on the South Dock. We usually don't meet up with them because we get there, get on the boat and take off. When we return, we just get in the car. They also have bigger (like 40 ft or so) motor boats where ours is a 25ft sailboat. Sort of a different breed. But they were ALL very nice. There was one couple who was a transient-they only arrived at the marina yesterday and joined in. They told us that they live on their boat.  :o :o :o  They have traveled from the Caribbean, through most of the waterways on the east coast. They are heading to Canada and will winter the boat there and spend the winter in Belize. Carlos told them if they make it to Puerto Rico to look us up.

The owner of the marina (the one who came to visit us down in PR last year) took me on a tour of it which I have never really SEEN it. There are two buildings that are both on the Historical Registry. One was built in 1812 & the other in 1820. There is also about 150 year old or older graffiti. I asked her if she or her husband (who passed away last year) ever added his name. She said no that they never thought about it. I said that she should. I think she liked the idea.

Food was FANTASTIC. I ate SOOOO much (like I always do). The pork was WONDERFUL. They gave us some to bring home. We decided to come home last night. It was a GREAT party. Can't wait for the next one.

Today is Granddaughter #1's 8th birthday.  :o :o :o Tomorrow is the birthday party up north.

Well...Quite a bit has happened since I've come on here. I am now training to be a coach within the company I work for, am part of a committee to provide personal development to employees and just recently become shortlisted for another developmental vacancy within the company to administrate employee holidays so it's all systems go.

I have also decided, at long last, to get my teeth fixed so am currently wearing a brace and have done since February. I am seeing huge improvements already and expecting to wear the brace for at least another year and a half. After a long time saving, I am ahead of my saving schedule and will have completely paid it all off by October.  :D

After that, I will finally be on course to get driving lessons.

Good luck with Chloe Jeff I know it's not easy.

Sounds like a great Cat.

Welcome back Bobby. Sounds like all is going well with you!

I had a great weekend.  On Saturday two of my friends from Salinas came through to go shopping at the Camarillo outlets. One friend who is 3 mos older but graduated a yr ahead of me has a daughter entering her sophomore yr of college so they were getting her shoes. We ended up driving to Santa Monica pier (she had two 11 yr olds- her second daughter and a friend). My other friends kids are all grown. I remember meeting the middle child when we all worked at toys r us together. She was 18mo old now she's a college graduate working in an ER and has a three yr old.  When did I get old???

Then on sat I drove to Salinas to meet other friends. 5 woman I graduated with. It was a long drive for dinner. Almost 7hrs round trip but totally worth it.  We laughed so much.

Good luck with Chloe Jeff I know it's not easy.

Thanks; we finally got her to eat some food last night around 11:45pm. She's starting to get better, but we have to keep an eye on her for a good part of the day.

I hope your dog pulls through and the problem will be sorted soon.

YYYAAYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Welcome Back and it sounds like everything is going great!  Good on you!

Today was registration at school, I had to fill out tons of paper work (x2).  I don't know why I have to do it year after year (when all our info stays the same), you would think that all this info could be in the computer.  The kids got to meet their teachers and we dropped of supplies.  School starts on Wednesday!!  My kids are actually pretty excited about school.

Went up north for Granddaughter #1's birthday party. The rain held off just enough for the kids to get into the hot tub for about 10 minutes (we didn't let the kids stay in longer than that-and it was only the older kids who went in) and then into the real pool. As usual, Carlos' ex was there. Like I have always said, she has never been anything but nice to me but...  :-\\  And yes, I am nice to her, too.

Had to have lunch by two.  I told her at 11 I'd be there at 1 knowing shed be there by 130.  Nope. It's 145 and she's still not here.

Apparently one of he 27 cats ran away  ::)

Thank you Howard, Snoz and Danoota. Previously, I didn't go for anything new within the company because I didn't think I would be taken seriously enough. I seem quite wrong in that estimation. From little acorns...  :)

I'm glad you had a lovely time at your granddaughter's birthday, Cat, and I hope your friend sees the value of punctuality soon, Snoz.

Moved my potted plants out of L's Dirt Lot earlier this morning, did a couple loads of laundry, did doze off for a little while, looked online for some recipes, and planted some Nettle seeds in the evening  that had come in the mail.

Last week I mentioned problems with my shoulder.  I went to the doctors yesterday.  I've torn my trapezius (?) muscle and I'm on some pretty strong pain killers that still don't seem to be working.  I'm o.k. if I can keep my shoulder relaxed but as soon as it twinges i tense up and it gets worse again.  :(

Nice to hear she's getting better.

Actually... my dog did not get better. :\'( :\'( :\'( :\'( :\'( :\'(

By Monday morning, Chloe did not look like she was going to be cured; her condition was so bad, that we took her to the vet around midday... and we learned that that would be the last time she would see our home. We talked with the vet about what had been going on (we'd taken her to the animal hospital several days in a row last week; they'd given her some medicine and other things to try to ease the condition, since they are not open on Sundays... and she'd been eating less and less over those few days)...and after several minutes, we became convinced that Chloe needed to be put to sleep. This decision was not a happy one, but it was the best we could do, since they could've run several other tests on her for the next several days and she could've gotten even worse and gone out painfully.....but we really had no choice. So we left the vet's office, downhearted...but we knew that Chloe would eventually be at peace.

My mom is the most emotionally affected by this, since she felt she was the most attached to Chloe (since she was home all day with Chloe on the first full day we had her). And the worst part is, Chloe was only 11 1/2 years old or so, but her health went downhill so fast in just two weeks' time, and it's possible that her pancreatic condition could have been developing for years and no one was aware of it. We'd hoped to have her until at least 2014 or 2015. But unfortunately, that ain't going to happen.

Chloe was a special, affectionate, and beautiful little dog; we were fortunate to have adopted her when we did (in early 2003) and give her a good home and good life.

I cant breathe ;)

I already feel better, then before I know it I'll  depressed again.  It's been like that ever since I was 11 if not earlier.  I had a crazy brain tumor at the age of 7 that was new at the time and there are not many survivors from it especially around the Modesto area.  I've been left to figure out what's wrong with me all my life and told in public school that I'm too lazy or don't care and that kind of stuff.  Haven't gotten tested, but there's no doubt in my mind that I have ADD.

My body seems a hulk always rattling Karen, from my neck through my shoulders to my knees I got plenty of surgery to be here one year and again.

Yes it's painful, annoying, and you must stay still for a long time to tame this beast, if not he's gonna be stalking you for the rest of your life.

You have to be patient and heal it as much and well you can, dear.

Good luck and a huge and smooth hug ;)

Losing a beloved pet is never easy.  I'm sorry to hear about that, Jeff.

I'm always reminded of this poem when someone has to put their pup down.  The last part is beautifully written.

A Dog's Plea

Treat me kindly, my beloved friend, for no heart in all the world is more grateful for kindness than the loving heart of me.

Do not break my spirit with a stick, for although I should lick your hand between blows, your patience and understanding will quickly teach me the things you would have me learn.

Speak to me often, for your voice is the world’s sweetest music, as you must know by the fierce wagging of my tail when your footsteps falls upon my waiting ear.

Please take me inside when it is cold and wet, for I am a domesticated animal, no longer accustomed to bitter elements. I ask no greater glory than the privilege of sitting at your feet beside the hearth. Keep my pan filled with fresh water, for I cannot tell you when I suffer thirst.

Feed me clean food that I may stay well, to romp and play and do your bidding, to walk by your side and stand ready, willing and able to protect you with my life, should your life be in danger.

And, my friend, when I am very old, and I no longer enjoy good health, hearing and sight, do not make heroic efforts to keep me going. I am not having any fun. Please see that my trusting life is taken gently. I shall leave this earth knowing with the last breath I draw that my fate was always safest in your hands.

Losing a beloved pet is never easy.  I'm sorry to hear about that, Jeff.

I'm always reminded of this poem when someone has to put their pup down.  The last part is beautifully written.

yep, in and out of depression again. Hold on Ann, You're trying to keep yourself cooking and stuff and you found some recipes and bought your groceries although you had to get mom to help you find quite a few of the items you don't normally buy, but that's okay.  I'm not functioning like an adult and perhaps I cant.  I not sure how to figure the best way to do something still.  Sorry, but I know and if Dad/ mom whoever keeps trying to tell me this, I'm going to feel worthless and end my life.

I'm going to make me some peanut butter buckeyes ( peanut butter and honey dipped in semisweet chocolate) sounded good to me so I'm going to do it for my Birthday treat.

Not much going on in my life ATM. Rather busy with work, working overtime seven out of the past ten working days. But don't worry - I get the hours paid (extra)!

Oh, and my curtains are ready! They'll come and hang them for me this Wednesday. I can hardly wait...

Depends on the day howard... I see them all the time in LA but hardly ever run into any in Santa Barbara....which is weird because a lot live here and many vacation here but I never see them...

In Santa Barbara I've seen Jodie Foster, tiger woods once and Timothy twice.  Dennis Miller a couple of times. David Crosby about 4 times... and one time I was eating in a restaurant and Jonathan Winters came up to the table and started performing for us.  It was fun.

In LA I've seen John Francis Daly, Larry King, Stan Lee 3x, Forest Whitiker, Amaury Nolasco (Prison Break), Markie Post, Steve Young (SF 49s), Mario Lopez, Scott Wolf, Ashley Fink (Glee), Heather Morris (Glee), Jennifer Grey, Jenny O'Hara, Stephen Macht, Steve Burton (GH), Jonathan Jackson (GH), Brad Maule (GH), Maurice Bernard (GH)  and some others I've forgetten.....and these sightings were not in conjunction with Paley Events... ie... I bumped into these people on the street or in stores, restaurants etc....

no problem :D

I made my peanut butter balls today and had two of them.  They taste just like peanut butter cups to me, which is cool because peanut butter cups, Hershey kisses- bars, and Reese's Pieces are the only candies I've decided I'll eat.  It was back during some Halloween I was trick or treating, I decided everything tasted like sugar and I didn't like sugar any more.

I got a gift card to eat at Tahoe Joe's, and decided to have the whole family come and have some lunch, so that's tomorrow

Monday, my mom is going to take me to a nursery in Turlock I've never been to.

If I were to bump into one of those celebs you mentioned, I wouldn't give them a second look, let alone ask them for an autograph or picture.  :-almost)  get pics (I never get autographs) when I bump into celebs in the real world.... I usually say hi or comment on something I saw that I enjoyed...or I stare and point but don't approach  :D  when they are walking down the street I may try ---- case in point John Francis Daly---- I promised Ash a celebrity sighting and I was determined to get a pic for her.  Also Stan Lee cuz he's like 80 and I didn't know if I'd ever see him again........Aumary Nolassco because he had just finished eating and was exiting the restaurant and waiting at a cross walk for the light to change so he had time  ;).....  and  finally Forest Whitaker because he was kind of a captive in that store  but all the others I've never approached for pics...  and I don't do autographs outside of Paley events and TV show tapings.  I want my autographs on 8x10 pics not on an index card where I can't tell a year from now who signed it.

He played Benny Belinski on Brooklyn Bridge. (he was in an ep of Facts of Life and in the movie Mannequin and in lot of commercials from that time period....)  anyway he was training me... I never heard a word he said he looked at me and said what's wrong? I said...DUDE-YOU'RE EFFING BENNY BELINKSI.  He started laughing at me... later I was able to meet Marion Ross and we talked about our mutual friend Jake Jundef.  :D

Ha ha, I'll ease up...

Actually... my dog did not get better.

Losing a pet can be just as awful as losing a family member (moreso in some cases, lol). I lost my 10 year old dog in strange circumstances about 20 years ago (apparently my dad told me he ran away but my dog Jack was loyal).

I am sorry that you have lost her. I'm sure Chloe was really grateful for the love and care you have given her over the years.

Well remembered. Hulk Hogan, 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper and 'Captain' Lou Albano came from the 'golden era' of wrestling. 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin is more famous for The Attitude Era and the person you are thinking of is Bill Goldberg - a man who believed he was something more than he actually was...

The Rock was fortunate enough to get out of wrestling in relatively good health and definitely the biggest actor from a wrestling background. Roddy Piper was the first to 'retire' from wrestling to make it in the movie business after Wrestlemania 3 but he came back to wrestling two years later. Hogan was probably the first to get some success out of acting (as long ago as his cameo in Rocky III) but Dwayne Johnson has been more consistent.

I was in HMV the other day and saw a HHH film called 'The Chaperone' on Blu-Ray. I shook my head and put it back on the shelf.  ;D

I remember Roddy did a couple of low grade action flix too I think. But nothing memorable.

Apparently Goldberg got fired from Celebrity Apprentice? That was what the WWE should have done to him a while back. Both Goldberg and Brock Lesnar had what should have been a dream match at Wrestlemania 20 but the 'smart' wrestling fans new they were both leaving the WWE afterwards so the crowd booed them both rapidly throughout their entire match, lol.

Hulk's appearance in Rocky III as 'Thunderlips' ( ;D) was a cameo. Hulk since then had starred in No Holds Barred, Suburban Commando and Mr Nanny. He tried his hand at TV show Thunder in Paradise and did some pretty crummy films afterwards like Santa with Muscles. He seems to be getting some success with his reality show Hogan Knows Best though at the moment he is running and ruining the TNA promotion.

Yep, Roddy Piper's most famous film is 'They Live' and yes, The Chaperone' reminded me of The Pacifier too.

I don't think Vin Diesel ever wrestled though he certainly has the look.

Ouch! You let the Scottish know their kilts are skirts and they will give you 'The Glasgow Kiss', lol.

Incidentally, Piper wasn't Scottish. He was born in Saskatoon and raised in Winnipeg, Canada. He certainly milked his Scottish heritage for all that it was worth though, to his credit, he can legitimately play the bagpipes.

I would never call a Scottsman's kilt a skirt but I will call it a skirt when it's on a man who is possibly (I wasn't sure until now) of Scottish heritage and wears the kilt as a costume not an honor (or whatever)

Taking in a rescue pet can be a risky business as they often carry baggage and side-effects from the previous owner. I am very glad you opted to make a dog happy in this way as pets don't deserve neglect. Unfortunately, some owners don't realise how much goes into caring for one. Sadly, my favourite breed of dog The Border Collie is a very misunderstood breed and if a family doesn't know what to expect from one they could be sent to the dogs home.  :(

We had one for 3 days (when I was 13). My dad got mad at it and he yelled really loud NO! my could really boom back then. The dog got so scared she ran into yard and thru the fence. We never saw her again. I was crying and he felt guilty for a long time.

When I think about it now it's actually kind of funny. (I'm assuming she found a good home and lived happily ever after)

Awww poor dog. Border Collies are very demanding as they are often hyperactive and always need to be challenged intellectually (smartest dog breed). If Border Collies are not preoccupied they will destroy your house. Add to the mix a strong shepherding instinct and they could present a challenge for a family.

I hope your Collie had a great life ahead.  :)

Yeah we weren't really aware of that at the time. I'm sure, being smart and all, she faired well. I have to believe that so that it's  okay that I find humor in how she ran off. It was a lot like a comic strip exit.

My neighbor has a border collie, it's a beautiful dog but bored to death...it has worn a rut around the perimeter of the yard because it runs circles all day.  On a few occasions Skye has escaped the yard and will try to herd passing cars.  I see him on the side of the road and as he hears a car approach he gets into the crouch position. One time as I was passing him he actually ran into my rear tire.

That's a good way of thinking. My dog Jack suddenly stopped being in our family when my dad remarried. I try not to sound cynical but I do think my dad's wife played a part in getting rid of him.

That sounds like the typical Border Collie. I didn't realise their herding instinct went as far as trying to tame passing cars, lol. I know Border Collies can show 'aggressive behaviour' towards children (glaring and then nipping their ankles) but the Collie is trying to herd them and keep them safe. If children aren't aware of this they could become frightened and run away and then the Collie becomes even more determined to keep them contained.

Some of the bookmarks I had on ADD are no longer good      http://add.about.com/od/signsandsymptoms/a/symptoms.htm

1. Huge  Inattention problem

There are As many as one third of children with ADHD have one or more coexisting conditions. The most common of these are behavioral problems, anxiety, depression, learning and language disabilities. Adults with ADHD show an even higher incidence of additional or accompanying disorders. These adults may also suffer from depression, mood disorders, substance addictions, anxiety, phobias or behavioral problems.

It is difficullt to differentiate the symptoms of depression from ADHD as they kind of overlap to some extent or other. One of the minor side-effects I have of my previous depression is that I find it very difficult to concentrate and, like you, analyse things more than the average person (I guess the two are linked, if you think too much your brain is naturally going to wear out for a while).

Are you going to get yourself a diagnosis from a specialist soon? That would help ease your mind I'm sure.

At least you have identified that, wildcard. Why not focus your thinking by looking into your heart to find out what you would like to do in life whether it be big or small and take steps towards going for it? Positivity comes from being proactive about your own needs and desires physically, emotionally, mentally and financially.

I Just did the craziest thing....especially since I've been awake about 28 hrs straight and should be sleeping....

I went to the web site for my favorite cupcake place in LA and saw that they offer 28 variety of cupcakes... I just ranked them in the order I want to try them from what I love to what I think I'll like down to the least intriguing....of course I'd start from the bottom of the list and work my way up... they are mini cupcakes. so that's not bad. on sale from $2 for 1.50. I'd have to buy 28 so that's.... crap....math... um... $42  (calculator for the win  :D )

here's my favorite (so far!)

sooooo.....he's famous for being a fired teacher?  ???

oooh...he's a wrestler?.....like John Cena???? or MVP???  (the only two wrestlers I can name

wait....
Hulk Hogan
Roddy Piper
Captain Lou
Stone Cold Steve Austin
ummmm?
Steve Goldberg ???
Vince McMann (I just learned who he was two weeks ago)

yeah I think that's about all my wrestling knowledge.....

well why didn't you say so???  ::)   http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa235/snozberries44/smileys/Smiley-Bangheadonwall.gif

John Cena is pretty much the main guy of Monday Night RAW and as for MVP he quit last year and now is planning to wrestle in New Japan All Pro.
Matt Striker wants to keep his past in the past.

You forgot one...Dwayne Johnson a.k.a. His Royal Yumminess The Rock.  ;D

He's an actor and could wrestle John Cena at Wrestlemania 28 next year in Miami Fla.

Matt Striker would probably be more memorable for being a fired teacher, lol. As a wrestler he didn't make much of an impact. He now commentates.

Striker is now semi-retired.

NXT and Smackdown with Jack Korpela or Todd Grisham.

I never considered Hulk's appearance in Rocky III as "acting" stunt casting? Sure.... a cameo? Definately....but not acting  ;D

I remember Roddy did a couple of low grade action flix too I think. But nothing memorable.

I vaguly rememeber seeing a trailer for The Chaperone.... if I remember correctly it's kind of like Vin Diesels The Pacifier....

Vin Diesel... did he ever wrestle?

Vin Diesel never wrestled.

The only thing I remember Roddy being in was a Sci-fi movie called They Live.

and once in a while he might make an appearance on RAW.

That's true; one thing we do know about Chloe's past is that she had two litters, but after she was picked up by Chihuahua Rescue, she was spayed. We also know that one of Chloe's daughters (from her second litter) was also rescued, and later adopted by another family.

Also, when we went to meet Chloe and adopt her, there was a multi-page questionnaire to fill out, with serious questions as "Describe your past experience with animals" and "How would you discipline your pet?"... and when the people from Chihuahua Rescue brought Chloe over to our home, they had to make sure that the house was safe for her, with a fenced-in yard and things like that. They check out all the families to make sure that the dogs will be safe.

Quote Bobby- It is difficullt to differentiate the symptoms of depression from ADHD as they kind of overlap to some extent or other.

We went camping this past weekend.  We all look like we were attacked by chicken pox or something.  Stupid mosquitoes.

Boy had fun though.  We've taken him camping before, but he was just a tiny thing.  This time he remembered it (and actually enjoyed himself, unless you count the mosquito bites).  I'm pretty sure the dog hated it, though.  Poor baby got attacked by the little bloodsuckers as well, so we tried to keep him in the tent as much as possible.

Speaking of ADD, this page has gone from wrestling to ADD to border collies to stabbings to Philosophical statements back to wrestling to school back to wrestling back to cupcakes back to ADD to surgery (that might not be in the right order, I'm on my phone and it's a PITA to scroll an type at the same time). I got me a flat of some snap dragons and a different type of gazanias.  My mom was talking about taking me to Home Depot tomorrow.  I didn't come back with enough stuff or spend enough money I guess.  Whatever.  The best part of my birthday was videoing the butterfly.  I'll have to see if I can figure out what program(s) I need to use to put it on youtube or something.

Carlos took early retirement about 5 years ago-only because they were threatening to take it away. If they didn't, he might still be working today.

Most people don't realize that we here on the east coast are on some very old faults, but not on a plate boundary, and there are quite a few small earthquakes each year.

hey Bobby, definitely a big change and I'm only 55. I would have worked to 65 but they offered a early reirement buyout, gave me a little something extra to sweeten the deal so I'd retire early. saves them money in long run and works for me.

I'm feeling fine in myself but dealing with certain people has kind of left me drained. After three weeks of my housemate unloading her baggage on to me I told her enough was enough. She replied; "you don't have to talk to me" and I said to her "it's not that at all, it's just that I've only known you about a month and you've been carrying on like a person fit for the loony-bin with your crying and shouting at everybody you think has done you wrong. There's got to be a time where you have to be in control and take responsibility of your own happiness". Then today at work I had to be curt with another bloke who keeps interrupting my light-hearted conversations with people by giving me banal lectures about what he thinks about any issue that comes into his head. He said I was being 'stroppy' (getting annoyed for no good reason) but I just ignored him. I've also lost another friend by being honest with her and telling her that "she has changed since she quit doing first-aid at work. You used to be nice, what has happened to you? All you do is pick fault with everything and go around with a sneer on your face. I know you better than that".

I'm not sure whether it's me or the world sometimes.  :)

Got back yesterday from our holiday in the Lake District.  We stayed in a youth hostel in Hawkshead.  The weather was mostly dry and sunny.  We did some walks (including a couple of serious peaks), Dai and the kids went out on the bikes (my shoulder couldn't take the pain) and we mooched about a couple of towns.

My birthday was spent walking up Harrison Stickle, lunch on the tops and then walking down Stickle Ghyll (a very lively mountain stream).  We had dinner in a country pub.

My shoulder has improved over the week, but I've probably set it back by using it to scramble up or down the rocks on our walks!

Now there's just the mountain of washing to tackle!

Today (Saturday) I went up north with my family to Gopher Glen, a place off the beaten path near San Luis Obispo, to get some apples! My parents found out about this place about five years ago, and we all love a certain kind of apple (Jonathans, which are only available in early fall because they're seasonal...and we haven't had luck with finding them in the stores the last few years). So we bought two 20-pound bags of Jonathan apples, then went to nearby Avila Valley Barn to get some goodies there, and then up to Apple Farm Inn for some lunch. Later on we stopped in Pismo Beach to get some exercise.

It was a beautiful drive, and the weather in that part of California was really nice today...and I hadn't seen those places since mid-2006. So it was a nice day for me today.

I'm hoping to get back to work p/t in 3 weeks or 4. My hip is improving, my UTI isn't getting better. The doc says I must take a 2nd dose of penicillin for the UTI.

I still need to get my passport renewed (it expired several years ago, and I've been thinking I might wanna go on a cruise at some point in the near future), so today I went to the Auto Club to have a couple of pictures taken. Then tomorrow I will take them, along with my passport application, to the post office, along with my old passport (which I'd gotten when I was still a kid) and have a new one processed!

I don't even have a passport.  ;D

Last time I went on a cruise it was YEARS ago and didn't need one.  We went to Bermuda and the Bahamas.

Ant idea of where you would want to go?

My passport expired MEGA years ago not to mention I had a name chance since then. We really should renew ours. You never know when you might have to skip out of the country a trip will come up.

And for all you who may be questioning-NO you don't need a passport from the U.S. to Puerto Rico because Puerto Rico IS PART of the U.S.

Probably to Canada or Mexico. I think these days you do need one.

My parents took a cruise to Mexico in October 2007 and they needed to have their passports.

Well I think  -
1) she quoted Bobby where he state's he did not read....  subject
2) she quoted Dag... cause it mentioned channeling Howard....  action
3) then me... cause of my reaction to ANYONE channeling said .... response

Not sure, but that is what I THINK.  and this is much better than deciphering Howard 8)

We were thinking about that. Some of it was (the football lockers). We were starting to wonder if they are actually going to have it. Tried to call (no answer) and was going to check the website but that is down, too. So we don't know if they are going to have it.

BTW, I realize that it is a new month and I probably should have posted this in the new thread. Oh well.

White Rabbit anyway.

now you only have about 652 days left. it won't be long and you'll be free!! as for me, I'm just 55 so I'll probably seek employment next year unless some door of opportunity opens before then, until then lots to do around the home inside and out and that's enough for now. Lady Di is only 52 so she can keep working.  8)

Should I congratulate you or regret for the change  which happened to you my Badfinger-fan friend ?
I was once retired and I didn't feel that good till I engaged once again, this time in the towling tug trade.
Being retired is good provided you got a lot of things to do, I guess you gotta go more often at inthe00s  :)
I think you're gonna be a geek till you seek and find this job waiting for you at the end of the road.

I would  venture that you're going to have a future plenty of pleasure in and out of the pitch

congrats are fine Paco & I thank you for them. so far I'm enjoying this change immensely.  as for inthe00s, I have not been around much and kinda got out of the daily routine but hopefully will ease back into it.
