If the temperature reaches 29.4oC it will be record breaker.

It's been 4 years today since my mother passed away, so we paid a visit to her grave earlier today.

There is nothing sinister about a graveyard/cemetary on a sunny and warm day like today. In fact, I quite enjoyed it.

On a totally unrelated note: it's been just over 4 months since I got the keys to my apartment, and I felt like rearranging the furniture (already!). ::)

Don't know how it's going yet, but yesterday I spent so much time looking up plants that I didn't have dinner at a regular time.  Nor did I shower at a regular time.  I guess trying to get a garden going is that important to me.

Not really sure what fish...  she get's to choose.  I will help her along - tetras and a beta and maybe some albino frogs, and a couple snails...

live birth around here is just another thing... nothing to excited now.

No but putting beta's with other - Not so pretty fish, or bigger fish... they do fine!  I have had them in the past, and the pet store even has this mixture and it is Bre's favorite tank.

We had albino frogs before...one actually got out of the tank and made it out of Megan's room, down the steps into the living room before we found it.   ;D

So we went to Oz yesterday and froze our butts off!!!  The kids had about 4 layers of clothes on cause it was 30 degrees and windy!  Ice everywhere.

It was horrible...it's located in a ski area so it's usually colder but the wind was awful.  The trees were covered in ice, the icicles were horizontal because of the wind.

Today is my 30th wedding anniversary and we have nothing planned. This Saturday I'll take her to the casino then out to dinner,
she don't know it yet because if she did she would just tell me not to bother. I gave her card this morning, I called her from work
and told her I forgot something that I was supposed to take to work. I had her look for a book that was on a shelf and the card
was inside. I try to be different every year giving her cards, whether it be Birthday, or Anniversary but after 30 years it's getting
harder.

Happy belated anniversary Loki and Sweetie44.

Henk - My thoughts are with you on your sad anniversary.

I'm weird (I know) but I rather like cemeteries.  They are usually well kept with lawn and trees and very quiet.  I love wandering around looking at the older gravestones.  I especially like the ones with statues.

Saw Carol Burnett yesterday...she said hi and thank you when I told her loved her but she wouldn't take pic  :\'(
My guess is she had one surgery too many.... Looked more like 5 too many if you ask me  >:(

Got a pic with Florece Henderson tho!  8)

Ill post it later

I LOVE Carol Burnett. I have been a fan of hers for DECADES! We used to have the album "Julie & Carol At Carnegie Hall" (Julie Andrews). We would put the album on and act it out. I was Carol & my sister ("Dawg") would be Julie. We had other albums of shows that she was in ("Fade Out, Fade In) and I would act them out-of course playing her. And watching her show EVERY Saturday religiously.

I am sorry to hear that she has had mega-surgeries. I just don't get why women think it is necessary when it makes them look abnormal.

Yay on Florance.  I used to think she was so goody-goody because of the Brady Bunch & such but I later discovered that she is basically a dirty old woman-just like me.  :D ;D ;D ;D ;D She is definitely someone I wouldn't mind hanging out with.  :D :D ;D ;D ;D

You should have tugged on your ear lobe for her, maybe that would have got her.  ;) On second thought, if she'd follow your actions & pull on her ear lobe, she'd probably undo $10,000.00 worth of surgery on her face. More surgery required. Then she'd have that Michael Learned look.  ;)

I hope you are not feeling too sad at the moment, Henk. Your mum will always be with you in your memories.  8)

In contrast, it's always good to change some furniture around. It clears the head.

Nicely done, DJ Blaze! I am starting driving lessons next year. Looking forward to it but a little apprehensive at the same time (even though everybody tells me I will love it!).

Well done for getting the part of Joseph.

I had her look for a book that was on a shelf and the card
was inside. I try to be different every year giving her cards, whether it be Birthday, or Anniversary but after 30 years it's getting
harder.

Happy anniversary, Loki! Whatever you give/do for your missus whatever big or small, as long as it done with your heart it doesn't matter.  8)

Simon Baker and Robin Tunney are on the Mentalist
Rodney Peete was in the NFL
Holly Robinson-Peete was on 21 Jump Street, Hanging with Mr Cooper and was a finalist opposite Brett Michaels on Celeb Apprentice
Reno Wilson was on the Cosby Show and now is one Mike & Molly
Billy Gardell is a stand up comic and star of Mike & Molly
Melissa McCarthy was in Gilmore Girls, stole the movie Bridesmaids, and just won an Emmy for her starring role in Mike & Molly

Speaking of the apprentice I apparently have a cousin on the Dutch version.  I think he makes it to the final four.

Meg is having a friend spend the night and tomorrow we are going to ride bikes on the Creeper Trail.  The Creeper Trail is an old railroad line that travelled through the mountains, it was called the Creeper Trail becuase the trains travelled so slowly up the mountain.  We'll ride the shuttle to the top and bike down...it's really beautiful.

There's a difference between mentioning the weather in passig and having full blown conversations about it.
You and Howard have a tendency to drag out the conversation and Howard discusses the weather in every frigging thread he posts in. It gets old and it's boring.

I don't think this applies to Howard but some people are scared to jump into a deep conversation perhaps? Over the last 6 months or so, I have realised that some people only openly like to talk about the familiar and less threatening aspects of life, others can freely converse with people about anything including politics and religion. Everybody has different boundaries whether they be conversational, emotional, social or physical - it doesn't automatically mean they aren't interesting.

The thing with this group is we are free to talk about whatever we wish up and down the scale, regardless of how banal the conversation may seem to be to others as long as it doesn't affect forum rules.

The main show was great.  It was a mix of traditional and contemporary music and dance - mixing them up in unexpected ways.

I'm sorry Howard I know you can't really help it but yOu talk about weather here, in the sound off thread, in the fudge club, in lte and in a few other threads. It drives me batshyt reading it everyday.

Sorry Q.  :(

Snoz does raise a point.

Maybe it would be best to talk about the weather in the weather thread, Howard? There is no point in diluting the topic in other places, eh?  :)

In non-weather type news, today I went to the gym for the first time in 5 months. I ran for 25 mins and my weight is better than I anticipated considering I've been away for so long...I will save that for the 'losing weight' thread.  ;) ;D

I am in the middle of watching the Ricky Gervais film 'Ghost Town' about a dentist who sees dead people after dying on the operating table for 7 minutes. Just having a break to make a cup of tea.

That is a wonderful autumn picture, Cat. It reminds me of Showell Circus in Wolverhampton when I was little.

What type of college is this? Nice one with the free food. I always consider that an incentive to go anywhere, lol.

There was a football game at the college today (they lost) and it was a "show your school pride" day. We don't do football but like I said, it was free eats. We also got to see some friends so it was good all around.

On the subject of pictures, I took some this morning at a special religious service. I did this for my dad, who is the editor of a religious newspaper, and he will need them for the issue coming out in about a couple weeks. When I send them to him, he will select the best ones, and give me photo credit...and I will earn a bit of money!

I tried to take some good ones; what I've noticed is that when I try to zoom and I don't use the flash, the picture tends to be blurry...and I've had to erase them from the memory.

Beautiful pic Cat! Free food is among my favorite types of food!  :D

Yesterday I put nearly  600 miles on my car.  I drove up to sailins to have lunch with two friends. One I went to HS with, she graduated the year before me but since I missed the class of 85 cutoff by one week I always felt like we should've been classmates.  The three of us all worked at toys r us together 87-89  (250miles)

The I drove over to Monterey. I met a group of fellow graduates to memorialize a friend we lost last month. We had flowers, gathered on a peir, shared memories, threw the flowers in the ocean, shared some more memories then left. (30 miles)

Then I drove to my high school (20 mi) for an all years reunion. 6 of the 7 people who were at the memorial went to the reunion. It's the closest thing to a 25th that we are getting. Apparently, when I had to miss the 20th b/c of work they decided to wait until the 30th to gather again.  :\'(
Anyway at the all years reunion there were people from (1969-1997) we had one of the largest groups.
While taking the tour poor Sister Barbara (yes I went to catholic school  ;D ) took a pretty serious tumble. She said she's okay but I'm worried about her. Other than that it was a great time catching up and reminiscing.

We weren't quite done so the 7 of us went to a restaurant nearby (1 mi)
There was a black woman at the reunion from the class of 77. She had been talking to my friend (class of 85). at the restaurant my friend said the last from the class of 77 was glad to see the two of us there. I throw my hands up & yell "Reppin' for all the black folks!!!!" it was not a very diverse high school. There were three of us in the four yrs I was there Katrina, myself and another class of 86. Then one of my friends said you don't really  count. I said  Bitch  ;D  It was fun!

Then I drove home. Left the house at 1030 Sat. am. Returned at 330 Sunday am.

Just woke up about 30 ago.

Jeff, assuming you used a digital camera,  if you can adjust the ISO setting on your camera you want to use the highest possible setting. If you can't adjust it then the next digital camera you buy, if you plan on a lot of interior non flash shots you should buy one with the highest ISO possible. They will take good exterior shots but the interior shots are amazing.  It's what I use for Paley. Inside the theater we can't use flash during the event. Everyone I know (cept for one w/ a better camera) steals my pics b/c my pic takes great interior shots w/o a flash

Went out to the boat. The plan was that Carlos & SIL were going to take her out for the last sail of the season and I was going to stay on shore & take pics. This served two main purposes.

1. Carlos always wanted a pic of the Big Dog with the sails up.
2. My unreasonable fear when the boat tips has gotten worse over the years and Carlos can REALLY enjoy sailing without me having an anxiety attack.

But, plans always have the habit of not working out. About a week after Hurricane Irene hit, we had another storm where the wind really kicked up. I remember making a comment to Carlos, "Are we having another hurricane." Well, it seems that in that wind storm, the mast blew down!  :o :o :o :o One of the stays snapped and then another one went-and there went the mast. For those of you who do not know what stays are-there are six of them holding the mast up.

In this pic, you can see 3 of the 6 stays on this mast. (Not my pic.)

http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1198/982059157_4401dd3fbb.jpg

The marina jerryrigged it back up but there was no way it would be able to sail. Carlos was going to take down the boom so they can bring the mast down and take her out of the water for the winter. I suggested leaving her as is until we call the insurance company and maybe have an adjuster come out and look at it. In the meanwhile, SIL & I took pics of the damage and we did empty out the cabin (sleeping bags, dishes, & such).

What I don't understand is why the marina didn't call us when it happened. But Carlos just called the insurance company. We have a claim #.

I feel so bad because I know how much Carlos loves to sail and it seems like every year something happens so he doesn't get to go out very much. We only got to go out once this year and didn't even spend the night. And the one night we did spend on the boat-it was at the dock.

Thanks for the tips, Q. Yes, I have been using a digital camera for almost four years now, but I am still learning about some of the settings which I have not used yet. (In fact, a few of the pictures I've shared on the photo threads, including the "pictures of friends" thread, are digital...but I cropped them so I could use them as attachments.) I will definitely try adjusting the ISO setting next time. :)

One time I got to play the bad guy when I was in the AF & worked at a hospital. The guy in charge of the pharmacy asked me if I wanted to help him out with an exercise. I said, "Sure." He gave me a cardboard with something written on it that said something to the effect that "This is a stick up-give me drugs." The people at the pharmacy KNEW it was just an exercise but they gave me fake "drugs" and I went back to my office. The guy did come in later to collect the "drugs" and told me how his people did in the exercise. At other times, a few of my co-workers also were the "bad guys" and tried to hold up the pharmacy.

I think so too. I'm probably the only place within blocks where there is fresh water for it to come fly through it or whatever.  I'm sure the dragon flies I see flying around sometimes will love it too.  Mom seems to be trying to worry to death already about the water not getting circulated enough at some time.  If both pumps go out and or whatever, I'll dump the water out.  The next pump I buy can include battery back up.

How big is the pond?  We used to have one in our yard with big Koi and a fountain, it was really pretty but was a pain because our neighbors dog would come a lay in it.  One day (night, probably) he was in the pond and knocked the fountain sideways and it shot water out for hours almost draining the pond!!  Poor fish had barely enough water to survive.  ;D

So 'jerryrigging' is a way of repairing a mode of transport with duct tape?

I don't think a short while without a pump working would be a problem.  We had a pond that never had any circulating sytem in it.  It had frogs and newts in it - no fish - but they never came to any harm.

3.5' by 2.5' holds like 90 gallons of water.

I don't either,  maybe a slight possibility if it's overcast for a week or more.  Already solved the problem, I'll dump the water if it starts getting nasty.  My mom has always brought up the worst possible thing that could happen even if not likely at all.  This is a reason I didn't do anything as a kid, all these horrible things that could happen.  I get 7-8 hours of direct sun in the summer and  still about 6 now.  Plus there's two of them.

My dad was talking about making a waterfall with it and I think that would be cool.  Now what am I going to do with all the dirt piled up in the rest of my dirt lot?

MacGyver had more finesse and class than some of the "quick fixes" (that turn into temporary fixes) that happen around here.  MacGyver's duct tape, and egg fixes were meant to get him out of a situation quickly... NOT BE A permanent solution!

Yes, 'bodging' is a good word. Thanks for the pics, Cat and the proper definition, Carlos.

As for me, I have had my faith in humanity tested over the past month or two whether it be in my household or work and today I think became turning-point. At work we have a seating plan and we sit in rows of computers either side of the desks. The two men who sit next to me are very bitter about working where I work and, in the name of humour, like to vent their spleen and put others down. A friend of mine came over to see me to tell me great news that he was leaving the company to go to Ireland to work with a software company called Bioware. The pair sitting next to me were muttering that he would be back by Christmas (the busiest time of year for us where we take in extra temporary staff and indicating he would lose his job).

I have to keep telling myself it's them that has the problem. I told them life is all about perspective and it truly is what you make of it. I acknowledged that I didn't mean to lecture them and they 'jokingly' told me it didn't matter because they didn't respect my opinion.

The man behind me has serious issues. He is the type of person that will disagree with you solely because he believes agreeing with someone is a sign of weakness. His negative traits are overwhelming like getting sunk into quicksand. Today, he harassed me for going to the toilet during work hours, insinuating I was doing it to waste time. This is a person in the same role as me dictating what I should or shouldn't do. I had enough so had a chat with the manager about him (as we do have a strict bullying and harrassment policy in the company) and the manager agreed that he was out of order.

On top of that I am finding it a uphill struggle to get all my housemates to co-operate with the cleaning rota that I created even though they seemingly had no problems with it. I realise I can only organise a cleaning schedule, I can't really enforce it so if things deteriorate my landlord wants to know. I don't want him to get a professional cleaner because he would make us all pay for it (and with good reason). Why pay money to a cleaner when all it takes is for everybody in the house to pull their weight and keep everything clean? It's not difficult.

So all in all. I'm pretty fed-up.  :(

BioWare is a great company owned by Electronic Arts which is enjoying huge successes right now.  They just opened the Ireland facility to host the new Star Wars software.  http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/37453/BioWare_Ireland_Opens_To_Support_Star_Wars_The_Old_Republic.php

Today I had to go to a (dual) county 911 Managers meeting.  They are held quarterly and are pretty boring but, today I walked in and saw one of my favorite dispatchers on the planet.  She hadn't been attending them and didn't know that I attended them so we didn't tell each other we were going to be there.  It was a nice surprise, we went to lunch later and finally got to bitch to someone who would understand  my personnel issues.  I told my friend the issues and she said best thing and only thing I needed to hear.  She said "D? I effing hate that bitch! "  yep.  That's all I wanted someone to say  ;D

He won't come back and I hope he doesn't, I think he will be successful. It's just my colleagues showing their envious sides to anyone who tries to forge a better life for themselves. A couple of days ago, they shared me with me their distaste for the job they have worked a long time in, not getting anywhere, bored and frustrated with their lot. Well, I have worked the same time they have and paid my dues and I'm the opposite of bitter. I know I get paid reasonably for what I do and, while it is boring, my pay-cheque is welcome wherever it comes from.

Thank you for the research. Yes, Bioware are very successful (creators of games Mass Effect and Dragon Age) and I am sure they will continue to be that way. He will do very well with the company.  :)

I'm sorry you are frustrated with your co-workers being negative.  I have that same problem with people around me.  It tends to drain you, listening to them.  You just want to tell them to keep their negativity to themselves!  Can you imagine being them and just dwelling on bad news all the time?  yikes!

Absolutely right. I have been on both sides of negativity. I had a very negative attitude when I was younger and it did me no good at all. It corroded my soul. It was only when I had a 'can do' attitude that I started to understand what life is about. Progression and development in any way possible. For example, today I have been toying with the idea of doing some baking. I may have to get some cookbooks and see what I am capable of.  8)

I have also been around too many people with a negative attitude who try to suck the life out of you. I am not talking about people who have bad days, everybody gets them. It's when there is no redemption in their attitude. Nothing is good, everything is bad and every little bit of hope you try to give them is not only thrown back in your face but they relish seeing you turn into them.

The good news is, like myself, you have a choice to listen to them or not. I made the choice that, despite sitting next to these people, I keep myself to myself. You can't help people that don't want to be helped and it's best to walk away from it all than risk becoming the type of person you wouldn't want to be friends with.  :)

Just got back from the pumpkin patch with Sarah, her friend and her friend's little brother.  It was fun.  They had two corn mazes for the kids and a hay ride.  The pumpkins were relatively inexpensive.  Now they are on the porch painting them while we wait for the pizza.  It was a fun evening.  Their aunt died today so it was nice to do something for them to try to take their minds off of it.

True, but it also worked to my advantage for a  little while cause anytime I claimed I was sick she would remember how guilty she felt when she sent me that day.

When I was 12 I remember not wanting to go to school because I had stomach ache.  My mum made me go.  I stayed at school all day, feeling really rough, went to the sick room and everything.  I had my appendix out the next day!

So although I always send my kids to school (unless they are majorly ill) I do always have that little doubt at the back of my mind!

I don't have to switch my medication, because my medication takes care of Anxiety along with Depression.

This new information kinda took me by surprize.

Me too!!

I would try every trick in the book that my mother got sick of me trying to stay home.  One day she made me go to school even though I told her my stomach was upset.  I started walking to school and had to turn around and go home because I got sick on the way, she felt bad for that one.  ;D
Yep - I do the fever check (kiss on the forehead) and if they don't feel hot or are not puking, they goto school.  I tell them if you feel worse and develop a fever, the nurse will call me.  Gotta be mean like that!  Unfortunately eldest get's migraines, and I feel bad that I have to send her, but she is going to try and hold a job (her father get's migraines 3+ times a week), she needs to learn to work through them.  If she get's sick with them, then they send her home.

;D  that's what happens when you cry wolf.  The only way my mom could tell that I was really sick was if I chose to sleep instead of watch TV.   ;D   If I'd been smarter I would've slept until she left for work then watched tv... funny thing. When I stayed home sick my parents usually went to work anyway.   :-\\   suddenly I feel so neglected!  ;) :D
I wished my mother would have worked outside of the home....

Why would that be contradictory? I don't have a disorder, anxiety just comes on when I get nervous and a rapid heartbeat.

A good thing to do. But for me, it is sometimes hard to block out the noise from other rooms.

In fact, I had to do that this afternoon after I got home, as I had a mild headache. But three hours later, after I got up and started to move around, I felt better.

SIL went to pick up FIL. The house is full of yummy aromas coming from the kitchen. Of course later today, I get the fun of doing the dishes.  8-P

Took James and his friend to see the newly reopened dinosaur exhibition at a museum in the nearby city.  It was very busy, but I think the boys had fun.  we had lunch at Subway - James's friend had never eaten in one before.

Next week James is back at school and Elizabeth is at home.

is subway in the UK similar to the US or is it like McDonald's where there are slight variations?  (it's been awhile since I've eaten in McD's outside of the US but I remember eating in one in Holland and the fries tasted different....the burgers were a little off too.)

bla my aunt Mo is in a rest home type place now and it's her Birthday in 2 days.  I don't think it's going to be a happy birthday for her.

other then that, it seems to be going okay for fall here.  I'm taking allergy medicene as needed, so I haven't been sick every day  I.got a couple live plants as I mentioned and one plant that had been overheating for I forgot how many years.  It's actually sprouting new growth.

The main difference we noticed was the cheese.  Although we joked about US cheese all being more or less the same in the US we were offered American, Swiss, Provolone or shredded (grated) Monterey Jack.  In the UK they have always had Cheddar and have just introduced what looks like pepper jack and the grated Monterey Jack (Elizabeth's favourite).  Also locally (don't know about the rest of the UK) you can get an Indian sauce called Raita which is a minty yogurt based sauce.

The breads are the same, fairly sure most of the fillings are the same.  In the salads you can't get the sweet peper mix which we had in a few places in the US but you can get sweetcorn kernels which we never saw in the US.

Today we repaired the garden fence which blew down in the week.  Hopefully it will last of few more years now.

James is back to school tomorow and Elizabeth is off for the next two weeks.  Dai is taking tomorrow and Tuesday off to do stuff with Elizabeth and I am off Thursday and Friday.

The engine is still on so that needs to be put in the boat house for the winter. If we had known, we would have brought the tarp to cover her.

good luck with your job coach,my job coach is trying to help me to get a position inside Pathmark maybe as early as 2012.

What is he doing to help you with this?

I just spent the morning completing an application form.  I have seen the same job advertised three or four times in the past year.  I think I meet all of the essetial requirements apart from one - the role holder needs to be able to speak Mandarin.  However speaking to my friends on Wednesday evening (both of whom have interacted with the previous people) reckon it is worth applying because I would be so good at the rest of the job.

Maybe.  The reason they ask for Manadarin is because part of the role is student liaison with Chinese students.  however they have to meet minimum English requirements to be allowed to come over and study so i don't know how essential it really is.

That reminds me; we will need to renew the registration for one of our cars (namely, the one that I've been driving) next month and get the tag for that, too. We'll try to do it in about a week or so.

Deep fried Mars Bars used to be the rage at one point. I was told they taste wonderful though didn't fancy the idea myself (even though I've eaten pineapple fritters before).

Good news folks. As mentioned on Facebook, I have finally cleared my dental bill! All £3,500 of it! Did it ahead of schedule by one month. I have also been going crackers at the gym for the last 3 weeks and lost a lot of excess fat (I still roughly weigh the same) and heading towards my size 34 goal again.

I am taking on a course at work to help me with my maths literacy. I absolutely detest maths so thought I should face it head on now an opportunity has arose. All I need to do is get on to coaching training again and then I'm back on schedule.

Yes, that's for three braces (top, bottom and for the roof of the mouth). The brace in the roof of my mouth will come out before Christmas. Luckily, I had a third of the money from savings before I started on the instalment plan.

So dental isn't included in your national health care?

I, too had braces for 2 & half years when I was in high school. I had a teacher who used to call it my "cage." "So, when are you going to get your cage off?" he would always ask. When I finally got them off, he looked at me and said, "Something is different about you." I just stood there smiling the biggest smile I possible could so see how long it would take him to noticed. Then it hit him, "You got your cage off."

It is and it isn't.  If you are lucky enough to be registered as a NHS patient then you get your dental treatment at the government set rates.  However some dentist decided to go completely private, leaving some areas of the country with very little health service provision.  Also you have to comply with their recommended check-up intervals and things.  I am registered with an NHS dentist (and thankfully they kept us on after our three years in the US!) so the children get free dental care and I pay a set amount per check up.

Some things aren't included in the government scheme and you have to go private. Orthodontics is often one of these.  My dentist offered to take me as a private patient to get my teeth straightened.  I think it is still offered to teens either free or reduced rate if the problem reaches a certain severity.  I know that they are keeping an eye on Elizabeth's teeth, but she needs to get more adult teeth before they will do the final analysis.  At her current rate of tooth loss I'll let you know in about 5 years time!

I had braces from 1999 to 2001. It's funny how I remember the exact years!  :-[

After that I was supposed to wear a retainer for years, but I hated the feeling of how uncomfortable it felt, at least to me, when I wore it at night.

At least with braces I didn't have to remember taking them off or putting them on. Also, even if you hate braces, you pretty much have no choice, but to endure them if you want good teethe. So I guess that's why I don't dislike braces, but my retainer.

As for us, we were supposed to have friends come over this evening so their little one could go trick-or-treating in our neighborhood-which is the BEST place for it. But, they called this morning and said that their little one HAS to go to the parade which was postponed from Saturday to tonight because of "Snowtober." They will be coming over tomorrow but there won't be any trick-or-treating for the little one.

I grew up having crooked teeth,As a little baby I wound up sucking my thumb which lead to me getting braces later on in life,I hated braces because it was hard to eat food and some of the food would get stuck in the metal but I learned to live with it and as of this day once in a while I talk with a lisp.

Well here's how my solar project part of my garden is going now.  That's the frog I got, and those flowers are solar lights I had ordered before I knew about the trip.  http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc153/rocksannwastaken/pla/gardenfrog.jpg

I'm back with a tree frog watching me type.  Everyone was asked if they would like to take a frog back with them to remember Mo by.  I also got a bag/ purse ( which I needed) with some frogs on it, some jewlry, a ceramic frog for my garden, and a headache.

Seems like you had a decent trip there... sorry about the headache. :-\\

Mine were crooked too, and I was worried about food getting stuck in the metal too, but I was diligent about eating well. Also, I was given a list of "restricted" foods, which would cause damage to them and require me to wear them longer; I was great at staying away from those foods (especially those which required being bitten into).

nice if I'm growing dirt.  The dirt clods are going to be moved and either made into rocks or broken up. I think I'll get bricks to go around the pond.  Then I'll get to figure out what plants further left will work for me, hoping that something will.

It was actually another agency... I heard it go out over the year... yeah they sent on it... with great disdain in her voice (I called that dispatcher and laughed my arse off at her!)  ;D

I meant that it's a good start. Heck, my backyard gardens have started out as dirt, but we've grown various plants there (after figuring out what to plant).

I know I'm just whatevering.  Crazy rushed trip ( but the sad stuff went good) back to getting back to what I was trying to accomplish some kind of something at home and my mom continuing to drive me nuts already.  Yes it's a good start and yes I am ready to have a talk with someone if I'm not doing it right or whatever according to the queen.

I have a little passion vine and I'm watching the left side of my garden for part shade The passion vine can do part shade and possibly cool down a little after summer hits it.  If I find out that summer rosts it anyway, I'll bring it in the house

Didn't get any trick or treaters again this year.  Good job, because I think the chocolate biscuits we had would have disappointed them!

I would eat chocolate chip scones (biscuits) but not the ones in that recipe.  I think Panera used to make choc chip scones  :-\\

I always hand these out:

http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-NP7lI867_Ck/TqS64tckExI/AAAAAAAACfc/rXbOnrEpYsA/s1600/hershey+snack+size.jpg

I buy 10 bags and most years we run out.  :o :o :o  Last year we didn't. This year, we turned off the light when there were only about 6 left. Carlos didn't want a bunch of kids to come up and then we would have to turn some away. Of course I always get a bag with almonds for myself.  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Carlos didn't mess with the kids too much this year. Made it kind of boring. Oh well. But, we did have our "Classics" for this year:

-One kid looked into his bucket after I put the candy in there and just said, "OOOOOHH!"
-Some one dressed as the Mad Hatter. Carlos asked her, "Where's Alice?" The answer: "She's dead."

Hey Karen!

I'm watching biggest loser and they showed the contestants favorite meals from home. This one guy has a granny who would make him bacon & eggs and biscuits with chocolate gravy!!!    I'm not kidding!  What a coincidence that would come up today eh?  ;D

Wow! chocolate gravy? That would be something to use as a dessert dressing for ice cream.
