Subject: Please help me identify this tune!

Written By: Katluver on 09/25/12 at 2:06 pm

For the past few days, I've had it playing it in my head, and I can't identify the name or the artist because it's instrumental. It's been years since I've heard it so I don't know why I've been thinking about it.

Here are the clues:
-it sounds like a Herb Alphert track from the late 70s, but I know it's not "Rise"
-from what I remember, I thought I heard mostly trumpet but it could be a wailing sax (I am a little tone deaf-lol!)
-it's a jazz tune with a strong disco sound

Know I'm going to try to hum (lol!) it: "Doh doh doooh. Doh-doh, doh-doooh. Doh-doh, doh-doooh..."

I think it was a very popular jazz piece back in the 70s so if any of you can help me out, I would really appreciate it!

Four minutes (and one second).

Sometimes I marvel that our longest answer has taken more than four years, but four minutes has got to be our record for fastest answer, and you get triple difficulty points because it was an instrumental.  Exceptional work!
