I think that is the point. Parts of Australia being used as a Penal Colony by the British Government to relieve overcrowding.

Yes, I'm 100% sure that was Chucky's point. Very funny though.

I'm sure a few people have forgotten their Aussie history.  It's a shame really, because the 1912 drop bears wars were truly horrific.

My Aussie history begins with Man From Snowy River and ends with Crocodile Dundee.

I never did find out what a veggiemite sandwich or a fried out combie was so I guess I will say no...never really learned anything from them either.

When Carlos' oldest daughter went to Australia, she brought us back this:

I tried it and I can say it was pretty...um... 8-P 8-P  But, at least I can say that I had it.

It taste like a lot of yeast-some breads have a lot of yeast in them but I can't think of anything off hand that can be compared.

It tastes similar to Marmite.  Which is a British 'delicacy' made from yeast leftover from making beer

My whitebread, Mormon cousin from Utah (can't get any more bland than that) just married an Australian man.  She moved there and absolutely loves the stuff.  I don't get it.  I have heard that it is nasty.

It definitely is a required taste. There must be a lot of people who love it otherwise I don't think Kraft would sell the stuff.

I think Vegemite is like Marmite - you either love it or hate it

I've tried marmite before. Not for me. Didn't like it.

That's what I always thought, that it had bugs in it. maybe I was thinking of something else.
