By the way, we made our special New Year's Day cranberry-apple french toast, and served it to some guests (friends of ours) who came over this morning. Aside from that, we have been taking it easy for the most part, although we had a little mishap with the fireplace (the metal key, which turns it on and off, detached and got lost, so we had to go out and buy a replacement; my dad ran the errand while my mom and I stayed home).

Spent most of the morning and early afternoon cleaning my kitchen. I started to clean it yesterday but I was so tired (and slightly hungover). My kitchen is beautiful again. I was planning on taking down the tree but since it took me so long to do the kitchen (with a few interruptions), I'll take the tree down tomorrow.

Tree is now on the porch-have no idea what to do with it. All the decorations are in boxes in the living room (they will be brought upstairs with each trip we take up). The living room looks bare now but at least I won't feel squished because the tree was right next to my chair and at times I felt like I had to watch t.v. through the branches.

No singing of "The Lumberjack Song" please!

And I didn't sing "The Lumberjack Song." SIL helped and she asked if we should play Christmas carols backwards.

Should we play a round of "Where in the world is Philip Eno?"  ;D ;)  Sure is more exciting then where I've traveled to lately, which is basically the local Denny's.  :P

Finally on the tail end of a sinus infection that I started getting Christmas day.  I think I've taken 2 boxes of medication, which really isn't good for my already high blood pressure, but it was that or completely remove my head (which I was tempted to do at points in time)
I know I should probably do a neti pot or a squeeze bottle thing, but I think I would feel like I am drowning myself.  :-\\

From Wikipedia

"Plough Sunday is a traditional English celebration of the beginning of the agricultural year that has seen some revival over recent years. Plough Sunday celebrations usually involve bringing a ploughshare into a church with prayers for the blessing of the land. It is traditionally held on the Sunday after Epiphany, the Sunday between 7 January and 13 January. Accordingly, work in the fields did not begin until the day after Plough Sunday: Plough Monday. Although the nature of farming has changed over the centuries, Plough Sunday is seen as a way of generally celebrating farming and the work of farmers. In the Church of England book of liturgy, Common Worship: Times and Seasons, there is a suggested prayer for the "Blessing of the Plough", for the "Blessing of Seed" and passages of Scripture related to the agricultural theme."

The church in the village where we danced held a service this morning complete with a plough in front of the altar.  (In other rural areas there is sometimes a parade of tractors that go to church to be blessed).

As well as morris dancing one group performed the Plough Sunday play.

Going to Nottingham to watch the ice hockey with a crowd of boys.  It is for James's birthday - he turns 13 on Wednesday

Happy Birthday to James.

Also a small boast about my gorgeous daughter if I may

This year Elizabeth takes her national exams (GCSE's) in the summer so she had some mock exams recently.  She has just been getting the marks back for those and has had A or A* grades in all exams.  She has now been asked to consider applying to Oxford or Cambridge university

That's wonderful

So sorry to hear that.  Hope you get relief soon.

Bali sounds so exotic.  It looked really pretty from what I saw of it in the movie "Eat Pray Love"
The film "Eat Pray Love" was on television last night, and 140 in duration it would mean a late night. I will wait for the next time it is on.

Did some more posting and updating in my internship today. I have now gone through more than a year and a half's worth of transactions, and there are still 2 1/2 more years' worth of stuff to go. At the rate I'm going, it'll probably take me another month or two to get it done... but meanwhile I am still continuing to search for paid positions.
In fact, I made a couple more applications today... and I also tried to apply online to an "accounting assistant" position, but after my responses to the first few questions, I could not go any further because my responses "did not meet the qualifications."

It does seem gorgeous.
We went to the same location as in the film, it is Mount Batur, an active volcano.

I was asking, if it doesn't erupt do we get our money back?

BTW, not one of my photos.

Went to the casino with SIL yesterday. I came back with $150 more than I went with.  ;D ;D ;D ;D  Unfortunately, SIL didn't have the same luck.  :(

One of their cousins like to go and said that she wants to go with us in a few weeks. If she calls, I'm sure SIL will be there.

Wednesday evening I took off my watch to do dishes and placed it on the counter. Yesterday, I went to put my watch back on and it was no where in sight. We looked and looked and looked. It seems to have disappeared in thin air. We even looked through the garbage in case it was accidentally thrown away.

I am very upset about it because it is an early 1950s Buliva which to be replaced would cost A LOT of $$$$.

Nope-it was hidden under a small tote that we keep meds in on the table. I thought I looked under that yesterday but I guess I didn't. I was so relieved when I found it.

Yeah, things like that seem to happen with items that we misplace (or so we think)...but it turns out they're in a place ya least expect. Glad you found your watch. :)

Stephen Fry on BBC's television show Q.I. says that it an item has been lost or mislaid, you walk around looking for it speaking the item out loud, and will focus your mind and eyesight more.

Is that the same as tracing your steps? ???

Yes, in a way, but verbally too.
