Subject: Talking To Celebrities

Written By: Ripley on 03/28/17 at 9:36 pm

Have you ever talked to a celebrity online, over the phone or in person? Some have claimed to and the person on the other end might have been faking that they are them. Some are so go at it that even on the phone they sound like them. Well if you are certain you talked to a celeb let us know. I don't need proof but if you have a nice story please let us know.

Personally, I have talked to only one actual celeb. Though I have attempted to message others in the past with no response. But this was his personal Facebook, which he still has. I am a thousand percent positive it is him. Anyhow, there is this other guy, who is not a big celeb at all but a very good underappreciated actor. Well I just wrote him on his verified page which he runs. It say's he's very responsive so I should have a good chance lol. I just told him he's awesome and asked how he's doing. But I was still nervous writing him lol. Crossing fingers he writes back!

I know Q has met celebs, a lot of them! But what about the rest of you? I'm not obsessed with celebs or anything. It's just cool to get to talk to them. They're people just like the rest of us. But they are also idols. And when they come off as humble that makes me want to talk to them. Such as the case with these two, who have always been good to fans.

I've never met a huge celebrity like Madonna, Elvis, Oprah, or anything like that. Although I wouldn't mind meeting a huge star.

But I did meet a background actor from a Star Trek show once, back in 1998. I also met the three main radio voices from my city's main radio stations, they came to our school back in 1997/1998.

And a very famous Vietnamese, female, celebrity singer, came to our University in 2006/2007. I got to see her! It was really fun!

That's all I can remember, though. But no one anyone here would know, except maybe the Star Trek dude.

Has or hasn't? :o

I met some basketball players from the Toronto Raptors when they came to the children's hospital once. That's it. ;D

I know some famous people (scientists, politicians etc.), but they're not pop-culture celebrities.

I have talked to Alan Frew from Glass Tiger several times.  Just to ask him how he's doing? I asked if his bandmates were on Facebook? I complimented on how the 80s was all about having fun and asked him where the My Town video was filmed?
He's a very approachable person.  I can hardly believe that Alan handles his Facebook page and Twitter and the band's Facebook and Twitter himself.  :)

Guess who I got accepted by on Facebook?

GORD DEPPE THE LEAD SINGER OF THE SPOONS!!!

OMG! I'm stunned!  I sent him a friend request almost a year ago and I was starting to worry that he wouldn't accept it.  :)

Positive.

Normal people don't wait almost a year to accept a someone's friend request.  Celebrities do.

I get the occasional E mail from my avatar but that's it. I don't really give a sod about celebrities. Compared to doctors, surgeons, veterinarians, animal rescue workers and scientists who work tirelessly to find cures, their contribution to society is irrelevant.

I also have e-mailed Chris Steffler, the former drummer for Platinum Blonde, to talk to him.  I sent him a picture collage that I had made for him and he was happy to get it.  Then I wished Chris a happy birthday last year.  :-* :-*

I also have a number for him (which I believe is his business number) but out of respect for him and his family, I will never use it. He's a very nice person. His parents are still alive and are over 90.

This summer just keeps right on getting better and better for me.  Not only did Rob Preuss and Gordon Deppe accept my friend requests but yesterday Johnnie Dee the lead singer of Honeymoon Suite accepted me too.
And yes it is him because I don't think Johnnie would fake creating a video of himself asking fans to help them with their next album.  :)

My mother worked in theatre so I met a lot of them in my younger days. Many, most people here wouldn't know. Some of them I have met:

-Pat O'Brian ( http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0002285/?ref_=nv_sr_1 ) I free privileged that I got a chance to meet him. He was just a delight. Also met his wife & daughter. They were also very nice people.

-John Gavin ( http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001260/?ref_=nv_sr_2 )

-Jack Gilford ( http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0318527/?ref_=nv_sr_1 )

-Stubby Kaye ( http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0443401/?ref_=nv_sr_1 )

-James Whitmore ( http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0926235/?ref_=nv_sr_1 )

Some names you may have heard of:

-Bette Grable (I wasn't impressed)

-William Shatner (I wasn't impressed)

-Abe Vagota

-Davy Jones (of Monkees fame). My mother introduced me to him and it was the one time in my life I was speechless.  ;D ;D ;D  He WAS supposed to come to our house (I felt like Marcia Brady lol) but, he couldn't make it.  :\'(

-MaryJo Cattlett (of Differn't Strokes fame) DID come to our house.

The people I worked with:

-Jim Handy ( http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0359695/?ref_=nv_sr_1 ) Super nice guy. I even sat on his lap. lol. Ok, it was in a car and there wasn't enough room.

-Allen Fitzpatrick ( http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0280483/?ref_=nv_sr_1 ) Had a crush on him. Just reconnected with him.

-Billie McBride ( http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0564269/?ref_=nv_sr_1 ) She came to our house for dinner. Just reconnected with her, too.

Then there is Pete Seeger. He lived in the same area that we did and it was not unusual to run into him and he always acted as if he was your best friend-EXTREMELY friendly. I have a pic of him with my step-father. His pic is in my high school year book because he used to come to the school all the time. I believe my father and maybe my brother worked with him while doing community theatre.

Oh, and I once met John Denver in the Air & Space Museum in Washington, D.C. and I shook his
hand.

There are more but these are the names that most people may know.

So far this summer Rob Preuss (Spoons and Honeymoon Suite) and Gordon Deppe have accepted my friend requests and so did John Dee (also from Honeymoon Suite).
I'm just waiting to see if the rest of the old Spoons band (Derrick Ross and Sandy Horne) will accept my friends requests.  ;D

Given a chance I will take to a celebrity, I am used to talking to strangers, and I do not feel nervous.
