Subject: Things From Your Childhood

Written By: HazelBlue99 on 09/14/17 at 3:14 am

A few months ago, I re-discovered a few of my drawing books from when I was a kid. It made me feel really nostalgic and it was interesting to read back on the things I did when I was younger. I thought this would be a good idea for a thread. What are some of the things you did when you were a kid and do you still have any drawing or writing books from then? Here are some of the things I did:

2006

https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4433/36381660824_76c03ee10d_z.jpg

I used to make up my own cartoon and comic strips. It's pretty nifty that I not only wrote the date that I made the drawing, but also when I started and finished it. I was only 6 years and 10 months old at the time. :) In case you're wondering what the "black stroke" is, I did that prior to uploading the photo, because I didn't want to reveal my name.

I wrote that when I was only 7. I became really interested in astronomy at that age and I've had an interest in it since. In case you're wondering, I did get some of the information from an astronomy book I own, however everything is in my own words. I didn't copy it straight out of the book. :)

This is from the 7th January 2006. I've always had an interest in the media. I started to make my own TV Guides when I was 6 and I continued to make them until I was 10. The drawing above is actually from a drawing book which is full of mock TV Guides!

2008

https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4370/36821047140_e10bf2399f_z.jpg

I've always thought of the future and the bigger future. When I was 9, I deliberately cut things out of newspapers, so that one day I could look back on it and see what the "world of 2008" was like. Notice how Blackberry's, Playstation 2's and Motorola Phones were still being advertised. :P

https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4382/36382309734_c62147c309_z.jpg

This is from the same book. A newspaper ad for the IPod Classic and Touch. :)

https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4403/37219504645_27f593df0b_z.jpg

I wrote down the then-current slogans of different car brands. Even though, "Bing-Lee" isn't a car brand. It's an electronics store. :P

Unfortunately, I no longer have any of my drawing books from before 2006. They were chucked out years ago. :( I didn't get a chance to take any photos of my drawing books from 2007 or 2009. I may do that at a later stage.

Ok, so I have my diary from 1993-1994. It is an old fashioned looking diary with the little keyhole lol. It was so precious to me! I also want to share one of the entries(which I don't mind sharing).

It says: Dear Diary, Today I went to the RISD museum again. This time we painted pictures made out of shapes. I made a landscape. I drew a tree, two houses, the grass, the sun, and another strange looking tree. Dawn Perry wasn't in today. I love it when she's not in. But that's mostly what happened today. It was sunny and warm out.

^^Haha nice :). A few months ago when I when I was sick from school for a week, I was really bored and suddenly decided I really wanted to find all these things from my childhood and I found all this stuff piled up in my closet lol.
I found all of my drawings, schoolbooks and stories that go all the way back to when I was at Preschool in 2003! I honestly laughed quite a bit lol, I wonder what I was thinking back then lol some of the stories I wrote back then were just crazy! ;D it was also a bit of a time machine, one of my books I wrote about what I had done for every week during 2006, all of which i now remmebr and is a reminder of how different my personal life is now. :)

I have a project (picture book basically) that I did back in November or December 2002 that I refound recently and it gave me an IMMENSE amount of nostalgia. It was a project for Pre-K and I remember making it even though it's been almost 15 years since then.

I will post some pics of it later (the paper has aged because it's so old...so beware of that :P).

Here it is the picture book project I did (with the help of my mother) all the way back in very late 2002:

It's great that you can look back on something like that. I personally don't have anything left from 2002.

You need to have an account on a photo-sharing website (I use flickr) and then upload the photo onto that site. Once you have uploaded the photo onto the site, you can link the photo from there and onto inthe00s. :)

I remember in 5th grade I was doing Literature Studies and we had to draw a picture for this book. I tried to draw a girl with a long dress that dragged on the floor, but it didn't turn out right. Sadly, I don't have the original pictures. So I just redrew them to show how it looked like. This is what I tried to draw:

This is what I ended up drawing:
https://i.imgur.com/QvhI89K.jpg

I showed my friend what I just drew and she laughed so hard and so did I. Because of this, we drew different variations of it. Like this:

We still find it hilarious today lmao

I should consider doing this for some of my pictures. Thanks for the advice.

I used to upload them to my Facebook profile and post the URLs here, but those URLs are temporary, so eventually nothing would appear in the post where the (img)URL(/img) thingy was.

When I was 6 I lost my older sister and was shipped off to my grandparents' house for a month and I had worries that my mother would never come back.
It was after that I had to look after everyone.  ::)

As far as friends go no I didn't have any friends because my dad was always getting drunk and coming to the school yard visiting us and scaring them off.
