Today (Wednesday) I went to work (rather than yesterday), and was able to get everything done. And the traffic situation coming home wasn't bad at all.

I personally have been trying to shore myself up and try to continue onwards with or without my internal motivations. It has been quite challenging for me as of late. The reality of my entire situation has really taken shape in front of my eyes and I am helpless to try and stem that tide. The emptiness I was able to contain last year has really been biting away at me again this year. I am 18 years old, a senior in high school. My mom is still in dire straits with her health as well as my dad. My dad has infuriatingly enough not done any cardiac rehab, is smoking cigars till no tommorow and I personally have noticed him drinking a bit more often. I really just want to look him in the eye and make him realize he is essentially killing himself with these actions. We cannot do anything about it and it is so toxic. He has been a lot more easy going since the heart attack but all of this just infuriates me to no end. Its like it never happened. He did go back to work which I am enternally thankful for which has righted our families finances. The only thing however is I was promised a car as soon as I could drive. Both my older brothers were given nice cars in the past two years (2007 Mercury Milan Premier and 2008 Nissan Altima 2.5 S) but my parents motivations seem to be the exact opposite when it comes to me and I am really feeling like I was given the short end of the stick in that regard. I would have saved up for a car last year if I had known but now I am stuck in a purgatory of sorts. The stresses of my family's situation has really taken a toll on me. My Grandma has been going through a hard time. I have been trying to hangout with her more often and it has been a joy. She misses my Grandpa so much, the fact he was trying to say something to her before he died and she could not hear him has really been haunting her. She does not sleep more than 3 hours a night and spends most of her time watching reruns of Everybody Loves Raymond as it really reminds her of our family before Grandpa died.
This past few weeks I have been trying to find a way to increase my self esteem and self confidence after having those shaken in the past 6 months. I was on track with losing weight last year and was down to around 290 come late August. All of the stresses I have faced has since Labor Day 2017 has really put a toll on my health. Mentally and physically. I have gained some of the weight I lost back. What I have been trying to do since a week or two ago is increase my vitamins exponentially to keep my metabolism moving. This paired with eating only 2,000 calories max a day. As soon as the weather warms up I will be walking home daily as I often do and trying to exercise more. With me being as big as I am with my height and body this could work to my advantage. I am hoping come summer I will be down to around 280-270 pounds and losing weight. Ideally I want to be around 230 pounds come College so I can ride the Freshman 15 with a stride. I recently bought some nike zippered shorts that I thought were just so fantastic, but they are quite a tight fit. I am making fitting into those comfortably a goal for me. I want to be able to fit comfortably on all of the rollercoasters. While I surprised myself with Cedar Point in July 2017 by being able to fit on all of the major rollercoasters except Wicked Twister and Cedar Creek, I really just want to feel alive. I really have a terrible self esteem when it comes to how I look so I really hope to take this all in stride.

I know that you and your family has been through some very rough times since the big crash, and you all have my sympathy. Nothing I can say will make things better for you, but please know that you have my support (for what it's worth) and my hopes that things get better for you. What little advice I can offer would be to try to avoid feeling hurt over the car issue and have a man to man with your dad. Express your concerns about his smoking and drinking, but don't be judgment, just let him know that you are worried. Best of luck
An after thought: I'll bet that what your Grandpa said to your Grandma was "I love you more than ever and thank you for all the wonderful years we had together". Try that on Grandma, at the least you'll get a hug. At best, she will adopt that scenario (maybe over time) and find a peace. Just a thought, and I hope it works. I faced a similar dilemma with my mother - not exactly the same, but similar

James took his senior black belt today and passed.
We've had another fall of snow, which cancelled an orienteering event we were supposed to go to,but the roads have cleared during the day.

We, too just bought a new car about a month ago. We weren't in the market for one since our Civic was only 2 years old, but the Honda place made us an offer we couldn't refuse. It is basically the same car only 2 years newer. Our payments are the same-actually a $1 less but we have 2 more years on the loan. We had our choice of a candy apple red or a silver. Even though the red one was beautiful, it yells to every cop, "Here I am. Come and get me." So we chose the silver-but I kind of liked our gray better. No money was exchanged-just the cars. I'm wondering if they are going to make us the same offer in 2 years.

Happy Spring Equinox to everyone!
Ostara - spring begins. A good time to free yourself of anything holding you back and make plans for progress. :) :)
It is theorized that Oestre, goddess of spring, renewal and fertility, was honored at this time; her symbols are rabbits, baby animals and yep- eggs. ;)

Update... I actually won't be going into work the rest of the week. Instead I'm going to work three days next week: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. This is so that I don't have to commute to and from work in the rain on Thursday. I talked with my boss on the phone a couple hours ago (she texted me after I got home) and we arranged my schedule; she wants me to be safe and not have to deal with torrential downpour.

I had thought of using that option in case I went to work tomorrow; my boss had even suggested it when we discussed whether or not I should come in. But like I said, we decided on a working schedule of alternate days.

I think your boss has been more than understanding. However I don't think you should let the weather dictate your life. Perhaps you should try and go out with another driver (mom or dad) when it is raining reasonably hard. Get their advice on what to do or not.
In general, slow down a little, remember your stopping distance is reduced in the wet so give yourself a little more thinking time by keeping back from the car in front.. Takes corners steadily. Know where your lights and wiper controls are.

My parents were also concerned earlier this week about me driving in the heavy rain. They know how dangerous it can be, not just with the condition of the roads, but also the fact that other drivers tend to be reckless in the rain.
I had even considered leaving the house at least ten minutes earlier than usual, if I'd absolutely needed to drive to the office today, just to give myself more time. But that was not needed.

But one day he came to my house and told me he loves me....it was so romantic! ❤ <3 I decided to give him another chance. After all he hadn't done anything wrong and he gave me another chance as well. We separated because I needed more time to myself. ::) But I will never do that again.
In other, he has a birthday coming up and I want us to spend the day together. Since I accepted him again we have been spending more time with each other...which is good. Anyway, he will be 32 on April 15.
I hope everyone is having a great day!

My sister will be coming down from Boston! Haven't seen her since January. So it should be fun! My mom will make a traditional Easter dinner. Which consists of Cod with condiments, and potatoes. It tastes better than it sounds lol.

I for one certainly will. In fact, my parents will be in charge of coordinating the music for most of the Triduum services; that is, on the days leading up to Easter, starting with tomorrow (Holy Thursday). I'm not sure if I'll be going with 'em to the Holy Thursday service tomorrow. If I do, I'll be helping out in one way or another. Then there's Good Friday (which neither I nor my parents will attend). The next day, Saturday, is the Easter 'Vigil' service which is in the evening and usually quite long; my parents and I will be attending that. And then on Easter Sunday morning we'll be at the 9:00 service. After that we are going out for brunch (something we started doing for Easter 15 years ago)!

Ah, memories. I loved doing things like that during my childhood years (up until age 10 or so).

Yes, three hours ago I started watching the Dodgers game. (I'm a big baseball fan.) Unfortunately the Dodgers did not score any runs against the Giants (at least thru 7 innings) so I'm disappointed. :-\\
Right now my parents are at the church, about ready to start the Holy Thursday service. (They left the house around the time the game started; they had to get to the church at a certain time to get prepared.) I chose not to go this year, but I went last year.
