Summer is coming!

Not until the latter part of next month (that is, in the Northern Hemisphere). I want to take time to enjoy Spring while it is here. :)

In fact, this morning I went out for a little walk and noticed it was rather cloudy and cold outdoors.

it was for this local bookkeeping company that is celebrating its sixth anniversary in business. The owner of the company is someone I met through networking a few years back. The celebration included food and a raffle. It was well attended. O0

Not doing much today except for housework.

At some point I'm gonna have to find a Mother's Day gift for my mother...hopefully this weekend or in the week ahead.

That would be close to 84 degrees F, which is more or less what I had to deal with today.

So I had to use the A.C. in the car as I was coming home, so I wouldn't get too hot.

I enjoyed 8th grade, it was a laid back time, though, I was resistant to be in high school. 8th grade was the twilight/phase out year of my elementary/middle school days, and it was sad to leave most of my classmates that I've known since 3rd grade.

I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

I enjoyed it for the most part... of course, for me, that was almost a quarter-century ago. :o

And this month also marks, for me, ten years since I (supposedly) completed my B.A. degree.

Howard, it's likely that spring break would've been a month or two ago. In most cases it's around Holy Week (that is, the week before Easter; this year said week was the end of March); other school districts pick a random week in March or April to do it...but never May.

She'd probably be getting ready to finish the school year in a few weeks.

I don't know if anyone here can help, but it's about my seeds.  You see it says to cold stratisfy them.  I looked that up, okay put them in the fridge awhile to make the seeds think they're in the snow.  I don't think I need to be planting the seed outside in 100 degree after that.

Foods seem to bother her lots of times.  Her and Dad seem to be doing house work today.  I've looked up some info that might make a good habitat for Zoraks if I don't get butterflys on a regular basis. I know there are always scrub jays coming down to look for food.  Getting some sunflower seeds and or almonds would be so hard though.

My mom certainly enjoyed her day. We went to our favorite Italian eatery for a late lunch/early dinner (we called and made a reservation for 2:30), intending to order from the regular menu and have a meal... but to our surprise, they were still doing their brunch buffet, so our waiter offered us that, and we accepted! So it worked out well.

James has started his exams this week.  He had two today - Chemistry this morning and Latin this afternoon.  These are national exams that most 16 year olds in the UK sit at the same time.  He will be doing them for the next couple of weeks or so.

Dai is coming home tomorrow evening and we will have friends coming round on Saturday.  We've been talking about getting together with them for several months and have finally got our act together.  I've just got to decide what to cook now.

Okay, I have to take a day off from the arcade.  A few days ago one morning, I was able to talk with mom a little bit about gardening. As well as giving her things to see, I think she might realize that I said not to wanting a shade cloth because I have some mexican native plants and want to see if they'll survive in in our backyard oven.  The rest of my plants I bought are under the  edge of the cloth because they cant take over 6 hours of sun every day.  May be frusterated with my garden and not very thrilled with mom wanting to put the ping pong table out which will block my window view, but hay! I may have the answer to save our backyard.

I plan to watch it.  Probably dressed in red, white and blue just to really annoy him!

We had a royal wedding picnic lunch at school.  Everyone was supposed to sit together on the grass in the quad, but we stayed in our staff room.

Another busy day at work today, glad it's the weekend. We were invigilating lots of exams (that is checking no one cheats, handing out extra paper, etc), plus mark checking some internal exams for the younger classes and setting up last minute requests for various 'fun' science demonstrations for the oldest girls who are leaving today (except for their exams)

I had made a trip to St Louis last month to interview for a new company as my current supervisor position at my company is becoming very stressful, with too many demands, with downsizing and consolidating positions requiring the employees that are left to take on too many pieces of the now defunct positions tasks. It's very depressing, and the alarm bells of my intuition have been ringing for months to get out. This new company's atmosphere was so different (I had the opportunity to watch the goings on firsthand as I spent the day there). The interview was great, the people are enthusiastic and welcoming, and the company is employee-centric. Loved everything about it. But a month went by and I was starting to give up hearing anything at all, and yesterday I got the call. I will be starting a new journey after 16 years at my current employer! The best part is, I have been hired in as a claims examiner, but the HR person told me they would be posting for a supervisor (at home!)  in a couple of weeks and she and the director 'strongly urge' me to apply for it. :) They had asked me if I was willing to relocate at the time of interview to be a supervisor, and unfortunately I had to say no due to my youngest sons limitations. At the time they said management had to be in house instead of at-home. I completely understood that, but now this opportunity! No idea why the stars have aligned so well, I am just happy. The company I am going to has better benefits, work at home, less stress and specializes in my wheelhouse. They are known for being inventive, forward thinking and welcoming of new ideas  :) I'm over the moon!

Past couple of days I just haven't wanted to come here.  Think I'm tired of the same threads and so many of them.  I don't think I want to scroll down through all the stuff every day.  It does contribute to making me sore.

Mazel Tov!

I am very happy for you.

Thanks guys. They had been planning this trip since last year. It is not a cruise, by the way; in fact, it's going to be a land tour.

Right now they are working on packing suitcases.

And they are almost done with their packing. Tomorrow (Tuesday) night they have to be in bed especially early, since they leave very early on Wednesday morning.

So...my parents are now on their way to Italy. They left the house at 2:30 this morning (Pacific time). So for the next 2 1/2 weeks, I have the house to myself!

I wish your parents well and safe for their trip, and did you take them to the airport, or did a bus/cab pick them up?

They arranged for special transportation (a shuttle van service) to pick them up.

I certainly wasn't going to drive them at that super-early hour. (Although I might have done so, as a last resort, if the shuttle van had not shown.)

That was what we had when it came to the time leave the USA to come back home, we had a few pick-ups on the way, and one place was in a gated area, but I did not recognise who it was that got on.

Once they get there, the trip starts in Padua, and continues to nearby towns.

By the way, they're not flying directly there. They took off from LAX this morning and switch planes in Philadelphia. (My mom even called me from there once they landed.) From there they go across the Atlantic Ocean. The plane leaving Philadelphia takes off in less than an hour.

And right now, they're probably still in the air (en route to Italy); they will text me as soon as they land; at that time I may be sound asleep, but I'll see the message when I wake up.

I should also add that my parents' trip will actually be one of the "Rick Steves" tours; 'Village Italy in 14 days.' The actual tour itself begins in Padua on Monday; they arrived a few days beforehand to get acclimated.

in just a few hours their tour will officially begin.

My mom has been sending me text messages to check in with me to see how things are going here at home. Likewise, she is mentioning to me, in her texts, how things are in Italy.

We had great weather over the weekend, though it sounds like a lot of the UK had heavy rain and thunderstorms.

On Sunday we went for a walk. It was much sunnier than the forecast said, so I got quite sunburnt. We walked through some woods, then across a small bit of moorland to a farm teashop. Then back via quiet country lanes, and drove to the new house via a farmhouse ice cream shop.

On the Monday James was studying (he still has two more weeks of exams) and Dai and I did various jobs round the house - hedge cutting, painting, cleaning old paint off the garden wall, etc. We went out for a meal in the evening in Ulverston. Stan Laurel was born there and they are very proud of that fact!

The final piece of furniture was delivered on Tuesday morning (a bed for Elizabeth) and then James and I came home.

It is school vacation week this week so James and I are at home until Monday.

London had the worst lightning I have seen, worse than any tropical storm I have witnessed.

Hmm..let's see.

Last week I enrolled at the RISD(Rhode Island School of design) to take a course in art and painting. My goal is to become a certified artist! How exciting is that!? I can not wait to begin this Fall. I am so excited that I can share the good news with everyone!  :)
