This afternoon I will have an eye doctor appointment. It has been a long while since I last had my eyes thoroughly examined. I want to be sure they are healthy.

And everything went well with my eye exam. The optometrist says that my eyes are still healthy as can be, and that I still don't need glasses!

Of course, they needed to be dilated as part of the examination, so when it was over I needed to wear sunglasses to protect them. When I got home I rested for the most part. (My father took me to and from the appointment, by the way, because I cannot drive with dilated eyes.)

Trust all is fine now?

The major thing is the escort home, sometimes I struggle for that now.

Yeah.

I anticipated they would dilate my eyes (something I only experienced one other time in my life... namely in May 1988, two months before I turned eight; at that time I was too young to understand the need for dilation) so I forgot how it felt upon immediate contact. I do remember, however, that there would be blurriness for a few hours. In fact, the eye doctor told me to keep my sunglasses on for 4 to 6 hours to give the dilation fluid ample time to completely go away.

I remember Elizabeth getting her eyes tested when we lived in the US. I didn't know about the pupil dilation part of the check up - not something done here. So I just planned for her to go back to school. She had to stand up most of the day as it was the only way she could get the writing in her book in focus

I get my eyes dilated EVERY TIME I go to the eye doc. With my eye disease, he wants to check to make sure nothing has changed. I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY hate getting it done. To me, it kind of feels like I have superglue on my eyelashes. And yeah, everything is blurry for pretty much the rest of the day.

Not only does he check the progression of my RP, he also checks for glaucoma, cataracts, and other things.

The last time I had my eyes checked (a few months ago), he informed me that my eyes haven't changed at all since the last time they were checked-the year before, which is GOOD news. So hopefully, the RP progression is slowing. Well, it is pretty slow to the begin with. I was diagnosed in 1986 and I still have good functioning vision. I can still read even though my driving days are long behind me.

Mad Hatter has some os to work with, but I don't think I'll be doing a large number of posts with him.  I think Ann is done writing parodies.  I don't know if you want to do it or can or can talk about it at all, but like I said, to have posted 1000 parodies is just unrealistic.  If I saw that, I definitely wouldn't post anything.

Hey everyone. Long time no see. Wow it’s been over a year and a half since I posted! I thought I’d stop in to say hello since it’s been so long. I’ve been just living life the best I can. Had a lot to deal with. But I want to get on here more. I can’t promise anything but I will try. I miss this place. I wish I could come on a lot everyday like I did before but I’m not sure how it will go. But I hope you all are doing well!

Had a networking/training day today in Leicester. Saw loads of new bits of kit and took away some ideas for new experiments and demonstrations.

Who has a slinky? tie two pieces of string about 12 inches long either side of the top coil, wind your index fingers with a loop of string about half way along. Put your fingers in your ears and then allow the slinky to drop to the floor.

Same with me sometimes.

In fact, I was awake during the night two nights ago myself. On Tuesday night (Mardi Gras/Shrove Tuesday) we decided to do takeout from Rubios, a Mexican food chain. I think there may have been too much salsa and/or acidic food because I know I woke up Wednesday at 3am feeling the effects of it. That, and the rain during the night. And I couldn't get back to sleep for nearly two hours.

I hope this isn't TMI.

Today at my office we continued preparing for our audit next week. I got all my assigned tasks done, but there'll be more tomorrow, but I won't be in the office because I only work two days a week; however, the other people in the office will finish up whatever needs to be done.

Many times we will go out on the porch and applaud the team as they go by. Since I am in the office right now (upstairs), I just stood in the window and waved. I have no idea if they saw me or not since it is dark out. I did see the school bus go by in the mist of all the fire trucks. I'll find out on Tuesday when we get the paper. Due to cutbacks, our paper is no longer 7 days-they have a "Weekender" which covers Saturday, Sunday & Monday.

So today I met with a friend (a woman) and had lunch with her at a restaurant (coincidentally, the same restaurant she and I had met at 3 years ago). It was good to dine out with someone I haven't seen in-person in a while. (We had made arrangements a week ago in Facebook chat.) Our meal was more like brunch since we ate breakfast foods.

Super busy weekend.

Staff v student dance off at school on Friday lunchtime.  The science department danced to Chain Reaction by Diana Ross (ok so it's not about anything scientific, but eminently more danceable than others we could think of!)

Yesterday we were marshalling at the parkrun in town.  Dai did car parking and then had a run, I stood on a small embankment warning about the slippery surface, directing runners and shouting encouragement to those who looked like they were flagging.

Then after a quick cup of tea we drove James to Leicester for a final rehearsal, met Elizabeth off her train from uni and then went for lunch. We found quite a nice world food buffet place, that was reasonably priced.

In the afternoon we watched the Wales - Ireland match in the rugby Six Nations championship. Wales won which means they took the trophy so Dai and Elizabeth were happy.

Another rushed meal, and then spruce up to go to Leicester again for the school concert. James was playing the bongos in a piece arranged for percussion by the conductor.  The main event was the Year 7's (age 11 and 12) with the staff choir, and small orchestra singing Gloria.

Today we had the orienteering cup club competition in Sherwood Forest, and then James had karate practice for his grading next week.  I am very tired now

I keep looking out my window and going outside.  This alarm thing I can press is someone starts bothering me came in the mail, so now I'll have it when I ride the bus.

Forgot to add that if I hadn't been doing all this I would have been in London meeting with Tammy and her husband (Big Nasty) and possibly Gis.  :\'(

I don't know whether or not the national news media has been giving this much coverage, but we've been having some devastating floods here in eastern Nebraska over the last several days. The Omaha metro area has been ok but there have been levee breaks in some of the surrounding towns, and Fremont (a town of about 25,000 located about 25 miles NW of Omaha) is completely surrounded by water with no way in or out.

They've been saying that this year's floods are even worse than those of 1993.

there are changes in bus routes and times.  I know now how to get to and from work, but if I want to go shopping anywhere I'll have to figure out how.

All the things said to me and stuff I guess just made me get off at the mall instead of riding to our downtown transit station.  Not a bad mistake at all if I needed a snack and or drink and or restroom. just may have took a little more time getting home.  Hey,I need to re explore the routes now and see the times

I was thinking of going out today, but I probably might not, due to rain... and I don't like to go out in the rain if I absolutely don't need to. That, coupled with the possibility that I might be getting sick. :-[

I ended up going out to this place (a job & career fair) anyways. It was actually helpful to me in a sense, because I got to meet representatives from various local companies and make connections, even if they didn't have any potential job opportunities in the field of accounting right away. I did, however, tell each of them that I'm currently working part-time in that field.

Anyways... normally I would be at work right now (in fact, I did go in this morning), but right now I am using sick hours for the first time ever. Earlier this week I was sneezing and blew my nose... and last night I was unsure as to whether I should go to work today or not. When I woke up this morning I seemed to be okay, and I decided to go to work... and when I got in, my boss noticed I didn't seem very "peppy", and suggested I take some sick time if I don't feel good. I told her I felt "ok for now" and I proceeded to do my work; I even got it all done in the morning. But then around 11, she suggested I go home and rest. So I did that after I finished my lunch. I left the office at 12:30pm (Pacific time) and got home at 1:15. Then I went upstairs and tried to rest. And when I'm done here, I'mma go back to bed and rest all I can.

lets see,  Found sone plant/weed things I never seen before.  Seen some kind of butterflys and or moths just continuing to fly by like birds do to and from their tree.  I now have this paper of plants in Modesto and was looking at the types that I've read butterflies might eat.

When I used to bowl I at one time got 3 strikes in a row which is considered a turkey, that was many years ago.

I knew of that term myself, but I don't think I've ever achieved it.

Congrats. Yeah, a turkey is the term. I don't recall if I ever got one-I may have once. (Used to be on a bowling league in a former life.)

I was on a bowling league myself from 1999-2003 and our team won 1st and 3rd place and I got one for "participation". I quit in mid 2003 cause I found something different and I just lost interest in the sport altogether.

Tomorrow James takes his karate 2nd Dan. He is helping out with the younger ones in the morning before practicing and grading in the afternoon. Elizabeth and I are going to go orienteering first and then see James in action later

Yesterday I went to Manchester for a day of dance. There were about 50 different Morris dance sides there.

It was a fun day, but long - we were on the train by 7.30 - and there was a lot of walking in between each dance spot.  I didn't get home till about 9 at night.

It was the weekend of the clocks change here so I need to check we've adjusted all of them.  One year we didn't and had dinner an hour early!
