Its about one of the few remaining video rental stores, and not only that,a store which mainly rents VHS tapes.

I wonder how many renters he does have?

Very interesting. And this ties in with the current thread about things going obsolete. There are some people, often myself included, who might just want to use something that has relatively recently been rendered obsolete. Be they VHS tapes, cassettes, land line phones or the like. It seems to me the the very second a new technology comes along everybody IMMEDIATELY dumps the old technology in favor of the new one as if it is some badge of relevancy to have the newest thing, regardless if it is better than the old thing or not, and regardless of the fact that the old thing is still fulfilling it's function perfectly well. I remember when CDs first came along, everybody dumped their albums. Later on, practically every single one of those people were sorry and wished they had their albums back.  Then people dumped CDs for downloading. Downloading came and went in favor of streaming. What comes after streaming? You're in a fool's paradise if you think streaming will stay. There's ALWAYS something else coming around the bend. Technology for the sake of technology is becoming tiresome.

Since they don't manufacture VHS tapes anymore I wonder where this place gets it's inventory? Probably scouring thrift shops. Go to any thrift shop in America and they will have a wide array of VHS tapes, usually for 50 cents each.

We still have one! But it doesn't work, lol.

We have one in our household, too, but I haven't tried to play any videotapes on it lately.

And I have all my VHS tapes packed in a suitcase, stored in a safe place, figuring I won't use them frequently.

Ten years ago I had them all in a small bookcase (which I showed a picture of on the "Show Your Collections" thread).

About 15 years ago, on my way to my girlfriend’s house I would stop at this rental shop that had both vhs and dvd. It was great. I could find something on one format and something on the other. She had a VCR, I wound up buying her a DVD player.

Here we have Family Video stores but that’s all that’s left. They don’t rent out vhs tapes though. We have my Grandparents old player that part dvd part vhs.

They belong in a plastic bin, not a suitcase, which you might grab my accident on your next flight and then lose all your tapes to airport security!! Think twice.

I have a dresser full of them in my basement.  And a rack full of them by the TV which I still use.  Last person I dated I got her into VHS and that was a few years ago.  One thing like about them is it's the real deal, you know you're getting the original.  When they put an older movie to DVD they have the liberty to take out things that might be inappropriate for the times.

A friend took ours away, but we have kept the personal VHS tapes.
