Thanks for starting the new thread Philip! O0

My mom & dad will be back from their trip sometime this evening; they have to fly from Vancouver, Canada, to LAX, then pick up a rental car, and drive home.

It's good to be back! I took an attempt to not post for the month of April, though I did post a bit here and there. It was not as productive I was hoping, but I did manage to read a whole book and start another, and spent more time with my family.

I figured someone else (besides me) should get a chance. :)

Five months from now, at the beginning of October, I won't be here to start the new thread, since I'll be away on a vacation trip. So someone will need to do it then.

Many Morris sides dance out somewhere on 1st May for Beltane.  They dance as the sunrises to make sure that it does.  Our side doesn't want to get up that early! We often dance in mid-winter to make sure the sun remembers to set

To celebrate Star Wars Day the local parkrun asked people to run in suitable fancy dress.  I borrowed James's Darth Vader mask and found a length of black cotton to pin to my shoulders as a cloak. I wore black running tights and top and black gloves.  As I drove towards the car park I could see some runners, but none were in fancy dress.  Was I going to look stupid and be the only one dressed up?  Then I was waved to my parking spot by a light sabre wielding volunteer and Darth Maul made sure I parked in exactly the right spot.

Not sure how many were in costume in total, but I ran most of the way round with another Darth Vader and I saw several Storm Troopers, Princess Leia and a couple of Ewoks. Not sure what the dog walkers I ran past made of it all.

More dressing up tomorrow as I am off to a folk festival with my Morris dancing side

New computer is up and running. I managed to save all my bookmarks but not all my passwords. I THOUGHT I did but it didn't work. :(  Oh well. Now, I am loading all my programs. Not too sure what I want to put in this in terms of my files. Do I want to put ALL of them on it or just leave them on the external and then just put all new "stuff" on this computer? Decisions, decisions.

My dad, on the other hand, has already selected a gift.

It's been a busy week at home but fairly quiet at work.  Public exams are starting soon for Years 11 and 13 and we also have a school exam week for everyone else so there has not been much practical science activity going on.

Wednesday night I was out Morris dancing with a couple of other sides. We went to a brewery/pub and danced outside for a bit.  The weather wasn't brilliant so we asked if we could move a couple of tables and dance inside the pub instead.  We probably danced for longer into the evening as a result.

Last night was the student leavers dinner which was a lot of fun.  I don't go every year, just if I feel I've got on well with a particular set.

Tonight is our orienteering club annual dinner.  we are celebrating 50 years of being a club this year and so the dinner is a bit 'posher' than normal (actually at a proper restaurant instead of a couple of people cooking buckets f chilli and everyone else donating sides or dessert).

Tomorrow I might have a lie-in!

I JUST got my speakers working-after about a half hour of detangling lines. I still have more more issue with the lines (keyboard) which I THOUGHT I also took care of. I'm sure it is just a matter of a slight adjustment.

I think what happened after I plugging everything in and then putting the tower in place, the plug got knocked out. Like I said, it was pretty much the matter of untangling everything. Once it got untangled, then it was just a matter of making sure everything was plugged in.

When I first set it up a few days ago, I should have straightened out the lines BEFORE plugging everything in. I just wanted to get my new computer up and running and if I took the time then to do it right, I wouldn't have had to do it a second time.

We are also having a pool company representative coming over later on; he will give us an estimate for potential pool construction in our backyard (we have explored that option and already gotten an estimate from two other companies earlier this week).

How are things in London? I've never been there that's why I'm asking. :)

Things are fine, getting warmer, but you can always ask me in my "Ask Me" topic.

A pool is a perfect answer to the hot weather?

A nice cold pool.

Perhaps so. The guy came over at noon, assessed our backyard area, talked with us and gave us an estimate. And if we do decide to get a pool, various trees and plants will need to be dug out, and it'll cost lots of $$$.

That's nice! Getting it ready for Summer.

We are not sure if we will pursue it or not. One thing's for sure: we are definitely going to redo our yard, as the lawn died for good two years ago. Basically, "start over" with it.

So we have decided that we will NOT go with one of the plans that one of the pool companies had to offer, mainly due to cost.

Wooh, it was a long day! I traveled from Providence(where I live) to Cumberland to visit my aunt....which is about half an hour away. It was our first time going there in a vehicle. Only thing was we got lost on our way there and back. ;D so when I left my aunt's house it took us about an hour and a half to get home! We used google maps to guide us when we realized we were lost. We ended up in North Smithfield somehow. Then google maps guided us home thankfully! Might go visit my aunt again next weekend.

Where would we be without Google Maps these days?

James has passed the theory section of his car driving licence.  This is valid for two years.  If he doesn't get his full licence in that time he will have to take the test again (and pay us some of the money we'll have paid out for lessons!)

My Father had to go to the hospital this morning but not to worry he'll be fine, He just had fluid in his lungs so doctors are checking up on him and he may be there overnight so please pray for him.

What happened was that I was a few hours into my sleep and My Mother woke me up at 1 in the morning to tell me Dad has to go to the hospital, he doesn't feel well so he may be there overnight. I kind of thought maybe it was serious but it's minor, But I really think it's more of his obesity.

Now My Father most likely won't be back home until Tuesday or Wednesday the latest, It turns out he needed a triple bypass or a stint so he chose the stint instead. It's like one thing leads to another. Just a few days ago he must've caught a cold (virus) he wasn't feeling good then he wanted to go to the hospital to have himself checked out. My Mother told me that he was afraid of the procedure then he cried because his Mother died of emphysema and his Father died of a heart attack in 1973 (a year before I was born) and God is saying up above to take it easy so whatever you do, life is precious.  :(

Thanks AG, I mean him being almost 80 and a bit on the obese side it's hard for him to walk around a lot sometimes and struggling to get up plus with his small bouts of COPD and back problems it really is hard to do things.
