Once again, no one started the new thread, so I’m taking the initiative again.

Happy May, everyone! White Rabbits!

Well? Doesn't anyone have anything going on with them that they'd like to share??

I can't believe this thread has no replies yet.

As for me, I've been taking it easy today.

Yesterday I went to an event at a local restored windmill. There was a folk band, community choir, a mumming play about Saint George, dancing round the maypole and I was there with my Morris dance side.

Today we are going to some local woods to see if we can find some bluebells

So...with Mother's Day happening this weekend, I ordered a bouquet of flowers for my mom earlier this week, and they were delivered to the house this afternoon. As soon as they arrived, my mom texted me (while I was at work) to let me know they arrived. :) She wants myself and my dad to cook a particular dinner for her, so that's what we're gonna do. Plus I intend to cook breakfast for her.

Having people over tomorrow night.  With cleaning and food prep, it's getting busy here.  Will likely be absent tomorrow afternoon until late evening after the get-together wraps up.

On Saturday morning we watched the school Combined Cadet Force inspection parade and drill competition etc. It was a nice sunny morning and we had an ice cream.

In the afternoon I took Dai’s mum shopping for some shoes. We went to a shop I know has wider fit shoes. Dai’s mum bought a couple of pairs (after trying loads of different ones), and I bought a pair of sandals. I also ordered a pair of trainers as they didn’t have my size in stock.

On Sunday morning Dai and I went orienteering. My course was physically harder than it should have been, with some needless hill climbs added.

Dai’s mum had been talking about wanting to put some plants in our hanging baskets so we went to a nursery in the afternoon. After some discussion we chose some trailing petunias. When we got home and Dai mentioned getting the baskets ready for her to plant she didn’t want to do it. We think it is because we didn’t buy the plants she wanted, even though they were too tall for the pots we have.  ::) Talk about sulking

Thanks Howard, nally.  The deviled eggs and lemon glazed cookies were the biggest hits!  We had a terrific get-together - everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.  But TBH I'm glad it's over, too.  I finally cleaned up the kitchen this afternoon...

We went shopping yesterday. I had to return a jacket I bought the other week (I bought two because I couldn’t decide between them). Dai bought a new shirt and tie to wear at the wedding we are going to in a couple of weeks.

Today Dai and I went orienteering in the Peak District. We ran early and then helped on the start. It was a nice day weather wise so we enjoyed catching up with our friends. Later on we popped round my dad’s to help him with an IKEA desk he was trying to build.

Our CSA starts today!  :)

For those of you who don't know what a CSA is: Community Supported Agriculture. We paid a local farm a few weeks ago for the season and we will get fresh produce weekly until about mid-October. It is the BEST investment we make every year. It helps the local farmer and we get the freshest (and organic) veggies. The amount we pay, we wouldn't get half of what we get if we bought it at the grocery store.

If you have a CSA in your area, I HIGHLY recommend it.

In all seriousness, I scheduled it for 8:15 Pacific time, so that I would need to miss as little time from work as possible.

Thanks for all the well wishes!  :)  Had a fun couple of days - we went with six other good friends to Turkey Run State Park in west central Indiana.  It's a beautiful hilly setting lush with trees, hiking paths, rocky terrain and a river.  Plus the weather really cooperated.  We stayed at their lodge.  We did some hiking there, took pictures, hung out, over-ate, and played games.  Fun!  Travel there and back was uneventful.  My only complaint is it went by too fast.

Lovely, if damp, evening Morris dancing with another local side. Dai was away (came back just before we did) so Dai’s mum came with me. We went over early and had a meal in the pub.

Both sides did a couple of dances and then the rain came down. The pub sorted out some space under cover in their garden and we danced some more.

Spring Fling today. The park is full of activity with vendors and such. There is an unofficial town wide yard sale. (I have mine in September.)  The porch is pretty much set up except for the food. Now it is a matter of waiting for our guests. It won't be as many as I'd had hoped because a lot of people had other obligations. They are predicting rain-thunderstorms. I hope it doesn't rain on our parade. We missed this for the past two years.

Dai, his mum and I went to a wedding on Thursday. We drove down to South Wales on Wednesday evening and stayed in a Premier Inn. Basic, but fine. We had booked a room with a walk in shower for Dai’s mum.

The wedding (Dai’s godson Iain) was lovely. It was at a small village church (the village where Iain grew up). Afterwards we had a meal in a room above a pub. Unfortunately we couldn’t stay for the dancing and celebration as I had to go to work on Friday.
