Does Itchycoo Park really have lyrics, or were the Small Faces really wired?  "I know I'm inclined to blow my mind, blah blah blah feed the ducks with a bun"????

Well Ted

I couldn't find the lyrics, but your mentioning ducks with a bun made me laugh.

It is a great song, but I think you were right to suggest a least a hint of 'wiredness' (or 'wierdness' - whichever way suits fine)

Mind you, every schoolkid could relate to :

"We could miss some school, who wants to learn the words of fools..."

Love the song, could quote the lyrics in my sleep, wouldn't want to embarrass self.

Over bridge of sighs,
to rest my eyes in shades of green
under dreaming spires
to Itchycoo Park. That's where I've been.
(What did you do there?)
I got high...
(What did you feel there?)
Well, I cried...
(But why the tears then?)
Tell you why...

It's all too beautiful!

I'll tell you what I'll do.
(What will you do?)
I'd like to go there now with you,
you can miss out school.
(Won't that be cool?)
Why go to hear the words of fools?
(What did you do there?)
I got high...
(What did you touch there?)
I touched the sky...
(But why the tears then?)
I'll tell you why...

It's all too beautiful!

I feel inclined to blow my mind,
get hung up, feed the ducks with a bun.
They all come out to groove about
be nice and have fun in the sun.

(What did you do there?)
I got high...
(What did you touch there?)
I touched the sky...
(But why the tears then?)
Tell you why...

(It's all too beautiful!)

It's all so beautiful. (It's all too beautiful!)

Well, it's always been one of my favourite songs, so it was one of the first ones I thought of checking the lyrics for on the Internet.

They not only got high there, they wrote the song at the same time.

;D

Sorry I only just read this thread again.Actually I'm lying! Apparently it's about Manor Park in East London.I was told it was about Christchurch in Oxford because of the references to 'Dreaming Spires' and 'Bridge of sighs' but then I am increadibly gulible about stuff like that :-/ Anyway I asked one of the music oracles I work with and he told me I was wrong,I guess I am in the right place to research really!
