Subject: Parody Voting
Does anyone else get annoyed when people vote all "1 1 1" on parodies, and not because they even deserve it? I hate when people vote negatively on parodies because they don't like the topic of the parody, the author of the parody (Tong, for instance), etc. Some don't even read more than a line of the song, and just scroll through to the bottom.
Just my opinion..

Yep. Take the following, for example (I use it as an example because a) it's short, b) I wrote it and c) it's only been given one vote, a 1:1:1) -
Take the original (from The Tempest):
Where the bee sucks. There suck I:
In a cowslip`s bell I lie;
There I couch when owls do cry.
On the bat`s back I do fly
After summer merrily.
Merrily, merrily shall I live now
Under the blossom that hangs on the bough.
...and my parody:
Where the fly sucks, there suck I
With a cowpat's smell I'm high
There I flit as dogs walk by
And birds drop blessings from the sky
After dinner messily.
Messily, messily shall I create
Faecal footprints over your plate
It's certainly not my best, but to the syllable (even to the expression of that syllable) it's a precise parody. So even if you think it's not funny (and it's certainly funnier than some), the pacing is there - but somebody's saying "I don't like it" so vote it all ones :-(

The only time I vote for 1 1 1 is if I read it and it is very very offensive/cruel, or if it really does suck that bad. ::) :P

someone just gave me a triple 1 on one of my songs "muddy girl" I'd like more people to check it out and rate it... keeping in mind how random the song it parodies is. Oh... i'd like ratings on my other unrateed songs too... and don't judge pacing unless you know the song

Exactly. That's what bugs me, when people give bad ratings, and they haven't a clue about the pacing and/or songs.

I only read parodies for songs I know and rate those that I like. The lowest I'll ever vote is 2 at no-more.

Possibly because of the number newly-released?
My Derek and Clive parody went almost straight to 11 votes, and hasn't moved since... I don't think any of the others in the past week or two have been voted on at all

I wrote a parody about Christina Aguilera, probably my least favorite artist ever. I got a 1-1-1, and it made me happier than some of the 5-5-5's I've gotten.
