Subject: Another page idea thought...

last night I was riding the T (the subway in Boston), and when I was exiting it.. I heard a street performer singing a song I recognized, but couldn't place for a minute or so.. Blitzkreig Bop by the Ramones.. just seemed funny to here a punk song being played on an acoustic guitar in a subway.. like the total antithesis of punk soundwise, but totally in line with the philosphy of playing music in non-established places..

What's the weirdest combination of hearing a song and the place you can think of? Like Ozzy in an elevator music system?

well, This may be not what your looking for, but this reminded me of it, and it is quite funny:
Pat Boone had done an album full of metal covers (Im serrious, he really did), on it was a cover I think of Deep Purple's "smoke on the water", Alice Coopers "No more Mr nice guy", and Ozzy's "crazy train" which is currently used as the theme for The Osbournes (Pat Boones version I mean).  I think this is hillarious, I saw it in a store on record a few months ago, and was so tempted to pick it up.  THis is also the album that got him thrown out of the Christian Colition.

but back to the real topic, I once heard songs from THe carpenters playing out of a hummer driving down the street.
Its just so funny to hear "close to you" coming out of an army vehicle.
I also once heard Van Halen's "Running with the devil" inside of a Thrift shop that was run by the church

Have you come across Hayseed Dixie, a hillbilly ACDC cover band?  Their rendition of Hells Bells (which starts with a bicycle bell) and You Shook Me All Night Long are brilliant.

I've mentioned it elsewhere on the boards recently: Rolf Harris' Stairway to Heaven had a certain popularity, too.

Anyone else here heard Bad Manners'  version of Deep Purple's Black Night?  :D

...that wasn't the one I forgot. Hearing that version of a Deep Purple song was pretty memorable.  8)
