Subject: Here's an idea

Written By: ChuckyG on 08/01/02 at 10:49 a.m.

back when I started doing song parodies on this site (it's been two years now, I started doing them at the end of August 2000 if I remember right) I used to highlight parodies dealing with a particular topic on the front page. It's actually one of the reasons William Tong became such a heavy submittor..

would people like to see this again? not just parody writers (who would gain some additional attention for those parodies) but the people who visit the site as well and read more than they submit..

let me know what you think

That'd be cool.  Would it be on the right side, where it now shows the latest updates?

ANyway, back to the subject, I think that going back to having those featured parodys would probably be a good idea

Would that be your own selection, or when you submit a parody have an extra drop-down for category as part of the submission page, e.g.
"Is your parody:"
 Political satire
 Celebrity satire
 etc...

probably an extra drop down.. which would only be active for whatever the current topic is, otherwise people would want the parodies in the back catalog to be considered which could be time consuming for me to try and hunt down old songs. I haven't even gotten around to figuring out how to effectively move the 60s parodies which are in the misc category yet, so I don't want to make even more work on top of everything.. not quite sure what I would do.. as long as there's interest in it, I'll figure out something.. not even sure how to put that on the front page of the site yet either..

Oh, I see - have a "this is this weeks(months) theme", and highlight whatever songs are submitted with that as a theme...

Cool - I'd go for that sort of idea (it's a bit like DJ's parody competitions)
