on amiright under a pseudonym, how well does everyone think those songs would do in the voting results? (assuming they're about equal with the running with scissors parodies)

well.. someone did used to post here, who ended up selling some of his parodies to a professional parody performer (this was last fall, so I've of course forgotten the details like which parody artist and what the name they used here was).. his parodies rarely got great votes, or many of them, despite being based on fairly well known songs.. I had to unforunately remove this person's parodies from the site too (and they had well over 50 at the time)..

so if I was to guess.. I'd bet they would do about as well as anyone elses, maybe even worse!

come to think of it, that story reminded me that someone asked me if it was possible to make money doing this, and I guess it is possible.. no idea what the person made, but I'm sure it's not like hitting the lottery..

I kinda was wondering that too.  I try to picture some of the parodies that he's already done on amIright, and I would give most of them good votes, of course.

Off-topic.. Chuck, what's the thing in your avatar?

I've been wondering it for awhile... Mind if I ask what the quote in your avatar is from, too?

Dead Kennedy's, "Buzzbomb From Pasedena"

http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/deadkennedys/buzzbombfrompasadena.htmlComplete lyrics to that song, for future reference, and/or lyrically inclined quizzes.

If Weird Al submitted his own parodies, would he do them as he wrote them, or as he performed them? For example, on the CD, if he has a bunch of parody songs, then he'd want to publicise the CD rather than the pain he went through writing them himself. Therefore, he'd either be publicising it throughout this site, and this site alone, before others got their hands on it, or not surprising us with any new material.

Hope this makes sense to someone.

Chucky, did you find Domo-kun when I told you about Hamutaro? I remember that was back when we were discussing hamsters as the possible next ranks after G.R.O.S.S ranks.

It seems there's been a bit of a Japanese invasion of Western popular culture since then, as I belive the English-language translation ("Hamtaro") now appears on the Cartoon Network in the USA.

During that fad about masturbation killing kittens, someone made one of Domo-kun. Then it turned into ninjas, etc. Qutie bizarre, yet funny  ;D

it was the "killing kittens" image.. I printed one that said "Everytime you ask a stupid question, God kills a kitten" safer for work, and more appropriate.. I ended up buying the stuffed doll, along witht he rabbit and the bear for my desk..

it would be before they were performed and they would be submitted incognito - but they would be as good as the final product on the cd
