Subject: "Power of Love"

Does anyone know who in the 80s sang this?  (The song that goes 'cause I'm your lady, and you are my man...' )  I am listening to it right now, and I thought it was Celine Dion, and this lady sounds similar to her, but I know it's not Celine..  Thanks.

That does sound like Celine.  It is Celine.  Isn't it?  Is this the song you are talking about?  Or did that other lady do it first?

The whispers in the morning
Of lovers sleeping tight
Are rolling like thunder now
As I look in your eyes

I hold on to your body
And feel each move you make
Your voice is warm and tender
A love that I could not forsake

(first chorus)
'Cause I am your lady
And you are my man
Whenever you reach for me
I'll do all that I can

Lost is how I'm feeling lying in your arms
When the world outside's too
Much to take
That all ends when I'm with you

Even though there may be times
It seems I'm far away
Never wonder where I am
'Cause I am always by your side

(repeat first chorus)

(second chorus)
We're heading for something
Somewhere I've never been
Sometimes I am frightened
But I'm ready to learn
Of the power of love

The sound of your heart beating
Made it clear
Suddenly the feeling that I can't go on
Is light years away

I guess this other lady did it first.  But yes, Celine did do it.  My mom has the tape and it is worn out.

Different song, same title :)

Huey's version was on the soundtrack of "Back To The Future":

"The power of love is a curious thing -
Make one man weep, make another man sing..."

Laura Branigan also did a version of "Power of Love" too, after Jennifer Rush but before Celine...not the Huey Lewis one but the one that Celine sang.
