Subject: next karate kid

I watched "The Next Karate Kid" with my daughter the other night, and there was a song Hilary Swank played on a boombox one night at the monastery and I cannot get it out of my mind.  The chorus sounded almost like Middle-Eastern music.  I tried to catch the music credits but failed.  Does anyone have a clue about this song?

how bout some lyrics...or if the singer was a women or man...or anything else about it....

Its been like a decade since I saw that movie (I know it came out like 1994 or something), and I have trouble remembering what I did last week, so we need more info

The singer was a woman, and I've heard the song recently on pop radio - the kind that plays Backstreet Boys, Nellie Furtado, etc.

The Internet Movie Database lists the soundtrack here: http://us.imdb.com/Soundtracks?0110657

The standout candidate for the song is "Dreams" by the Cranberries - during the chorus, there's sort of a wailing chant reminiscent of the Muslim call to prayer.

Movin' On Up is more like funky dance music, and You Gotta Be is more smooth and soulful...
