Subject: Question-Norah Jones Song

Written By: LyricBoy on 09/13/02 at 04:45 p.m.

Dumb question here, but what is the meaning of that Norah Jones song "Don't Know Why" ?

Is it a song about female sexual dysfunction?  ???

Heck yeah I am serious.  Here are some lyrics which seem to mean that maybe Norah is singing about a frustrating problem:

I left you by the house of fun
   I don't know why I didn't come
   I don't know why I didn't come

When I saw the break of day
I wished that I could fly away
   Out across the endless sea
   I would die in ecstasy
But I'll be a bag of bones
   Driving down the road alone

"Left you by the house of fun"?
"Driving down the road alone"?
"Don't know why I didn't come"?
"..at break of day... wished to fly away.."?

Sounds to me either that she is singing about a lover who can not satisfy her :P, or that perhaps she just wants to satisfy herself? ::)

Is anyone else out there getting these vibes from that song?

We all know how naive I am.  I never thought of Nora's song that way!  I sing along with it all of the time but after seeing it written out, looks as if someone had a premature ejac...well, you know what I mean! :-[
What's the story about "Walk This Way"?  Please explain!

Well here is the first verse to "Walk This Way" by Aerosmith:  Think REAL HARD about the tracts in red below and I think you will figure out what Steven Tyler was singing about.

Backstroke lover :P always hidin' 'neath the covers
Till I talked to your daddy he say
He said you ain't seen nothin' till you're down on a muffin :o
Then you're sure to be a changin' your ways
I met a cheerleader was a real young bleeder
Oh the times I could reminisce
'Cause the best things of lovin' with her sister and her cousin
Only started with a little kiss
  Like this

The COOL  8) part is that this song played on all the major radio stations at the time, and nobody really knew what he was singing.  But if you had a copy of the lyrics, it was a scream!

That song is sooo awesome

next verse:

SEESAW SWINGIN WITH THE BOYS in the school
and your feet flyin up in the air
singing hey diddle diddle
WITH YOUR KITTY IN THE MIDDLE of the swing like you didnt care
So I took a big chance at the highschool dance
WITH A MISSY WHO WAS READY TO PLAY
WASNT ME SHE WAS FOOLIN CAUSE SHE KNEW WHAT SHE WAS DOIN
and I know her love was here to stay
WHEN SHE TOLD ME TO
WALK THIS WAY.....
Just gimme a kiss like this

school girl sweetie with a classy kind of sassy
LITTLE SKIRT CLIMBING WAY UP HER KNEE
THERE WERE THREE YOUNG LADIES IT HE HIGH SCHOOL LOCKER WHEN I REALIZED THEY WERE LOOKING AT ME
I was a high school loser never made it with a lady
TILL THE BOYS TOLD ME SOMETHIGN I MISSED
THEN my next door neighbor had a daughte and a favor
SO I GAVE HER JUST A LITTLE KISS
LIKE THIS

seesawswing....
WHEN SHE TOLD ME HOW TO WALK THIS WAY
....

man aerosmith were really dirty back then....I wish they wrote more songs like that

Heres a fact...Steven tyler had left the original lyrics to walk this way in a cab on the way to the studio, so when he got to the studio he rewrote the lyrics as fast as he could...inhis really stoned state...and thats the lyrics we hear today

Gee, cs...

Maybe Neil Diamond's songs are loaded with double meanings, but Steve Tyler and the boys of Aerosmith just blurt it out. ;D

I mean, how can a lyric like you ain't seen nothin' till you're down on a muffin :o have more than one meaning?

Regards,

LyricBoy

They must have had really big lockers at Steven Tyler's high school.

I DON'T KNOW!!  I really never think about the lyrics to songs.  Honestly, I had NO IDEA that's what they meant by "muffin" until I read it here.  I'm telling you, I am really naive about this stuff unless someone points it out to me!
I never heard it called a "muffin" before. ::) :-[
