Subject: Are there any ideas people had for new pages?

Written By: ChuckyG on 09/23/02 at 08:48 p.m.

I think I've finally perfected my my scripts for accepting new entries.. so I can put up new pages fairly quickly.. my plan was to put a new page up on the site once a week until I run through my list of new pages (currently around 10 ideas or so)..

so if you ever had an idea, now is the time to pitch it.. I did save many of the ideas from the last time I made a post like this, but if you're really eager about something, feel free to pitch it again..

How about a list of albums coming out soon?  I guess it isn't funny, and I guess you're looking for stuff that relates to music humor, but it it something that deals with music...

Well since this site is about parodies, what about expanding it to game parodies.  Take a simple video game, mostly popular, and rename it and explain the reason behind the video game.  I know it has nothing to do with music, but it's a parody thought.

perhaps a news article parody...like what they used to do on Saturday Night Live with Dennis Miller before he made a career out of ranting?

Or speaking of Dennis Miller...perhaps post a picture of something goofy, like George Bush doing ANYTHING...then post different quotes that describe what's happening in the picture. You know...like what he does in the last few minutes of his show. But, instead of his weirdo sense of humor, you'll get US. Sound cool?

PhotoShop!!!!

Example: Each week or month, we could have a different subject. For instance, we could do "Album Cover Parodies" or even be more specific than that, like doing Album Cover Parodies that have to do with a certain person/character/subject/etc. .

I  PhotoShop. ;D

aww.. Photoshop contests and Caption contests.. I love them on fark, but will enough people want to join in? I tried the news thing like fark does, but no one was interested...

I think the major impediment for me to implementing anything like that, is the ability to set up a forum-like interface, so people can leave comments.. otherwise it's gonna fall flat on it's face.. but it's still not a bad idea..

fake news is soooo over done on the internet.. check the Onion, check Satire Wire, etc. While I could do it with a music focus, it seems too obvious.. plus I think we could find real news articles that are better than anything we make up.. but then again maybe not, that section seemed to attract no interest at all..

That may be true, but the picture idea may work. I've yet to see a site where people can plug in their own captions under a picture. As far as a forum-interface, couldn't you arrange it just as you do with misheard lyrics? People post 100s a day, I'm sure, and you weed out and get them down to 52. For this, instead of submitting lyrics, they'd be submitting captions for the picture you've posted for that day or week.
