Subject: ATTN: Michael Florio, RE: Britney "ode"

Written By: PF4Eva on 10/10/02 at 05:55 p.m.

>:( How dare you say the things that you said in that spoof of the Spin Doctors song. You should be ashamed of yourself. Here are the facts about Britney:

Every Britney Spears song dating back to "Baby One More Time" has been a legendary song. Britney started writing songs on her second and third albums, which eclipse the previous songs she has recorded. None of the songs she wrote have been released as singles in the U.S., but the legendary "Anticiating" was released in France. On her third album, "Cinderella" has more lyrical substance than Pink Floyd and Stairway to Heaven COMBINEDPlease remember to research before you post such nonsense. No offense to you, but you need to be a little nicer.

Now that's just silly.

It's a matter of opinion, PF.  Feel free to disagree, but there's no reason to get so worked up over someone not liking your favorite band.

It's called a song parody.  Not everyone is going to agree with someone's opinion on something or someone.  It's just not going to happen.  So there's no use complaining about it..

P.S.  I thought it was pretty good.

This has to be the quote of the week.  BTW, I thought the parody was pretty good as well!

HAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!!!!!!
You have got to be kidding me!!!!!
#1, the only reason she's even had hits is because she's hot....
#2, Since Baby one more time, she has managed to record songs that she has not written, but were written for her...and those sucked....she has recorded songs that she wrote ("Diary" being the one that I remember)..and they sucked.....and she has managed to turn perfectly awesome songs that were previously reocorded by legends, and ruin them completely! (Satisfaction (Brian Jones is rolling over in his grave), The beat goes on (Sonny Bono is rolling over in his grave), and I love rock and roll (Joan jett, as well as the arrows are giving her the finger right now))

#3, legendary status?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?! what are you nuts?!?!..I think Jimmy Buffetts "Cheeseburger in paradise" has created more of a legendary status than her songs....just wait  a few years....shell be where Tiffany is right now...on celebrity boot camp, with all the other washed up stars...and no one will remember her songs

#4, Better than Floyd and stairway!??!  YOU HAVE GOT TO BE F*CKING KIDDING ME!!!!!!!  HOW DARE YOU SAY THAT!  Have you even heard pink Floyd, cause if you are saying this then you must not have....you cannot tell me that "Im not a girl, not yet a women" has better lyrics than Confortably numb"! Give me a break.....

#5, the parody was decent

Comfortably numb:
Hello?
Is there anybody in there?
Just nod if you can hear me.
Is there anyone at home?
Come on, now,
I hear you're feeling down.
Well I can ease your pain
Get you on your feet again.
Relax.
I'll need some information first.
Just the basic facts.
Can you show me where it hurts?

There is no pain you are receding
A distant ship, smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves.
Your lips move but I can't hear what you're saying.
When I was a child I had a fever
My hands felt just like two balloons
Now I've got that feeling once again
I can't explain you would not understand
This is not how I am.
I have become comfortably numb.

O.K.
Just a little pinprick.
There'll be no more aaaaaaaaah!
But you may feel a little sick.
Can you stand up?
I do believe it's working, good.
That'll keep you going through the show
Come on it's time to go.

I can tell you're a huge fan of Britney, and you're certainly entitled to that, but the last quote was just too funny.. I had to make that one my signature line.

I think you're forgetting the purpose of the site.. to make fun of music (one song at a time).. I make fun of the groups I like... I'm sure they're used to it by now...

let's not degrade into simple name calling please..

at least PF4eva did a little more than just call you stupid or something, and wrote about why he disagreed with you.. to just say Britney sux is just not very conductive to a conversation..

I think I'm going to have to agree with PF4Eva on this one. Britney Spears is my life, and writes the most influential songs I've ever listened to. I also think she writes better songs than Paul McCartney, AC/DC, Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Clash, Led Zeppelin, Ludwig Von Beethoven, Bach, and Jesus COMBINED.

Jesus?  Now, I know I've got a book he wrote, er maybe starred in, but I didn't realize he had an album out... Though, I have to admit that most of the songs written in his name are lyrically much worse than anything BS has produced.  Maybe, just maybe, her initials do say something about the standard of lyrics ;-)

Phil
PS Isn't it van Beethoven?

um...which case are you talking about...the Britney is better than Floyd and Stairway combined?  Cause if it is, then the sources must have came from 12 year old girls who think that Pink Floyd is the name of one of the muppetts, and think that a Led Zeppelin is a kind of soft, powered sweet that they sell in pizzarias.....cause no one else in their right mind would defend your point

May I suggest you check the sort of sources which don't include disco versions of the Fifth symphony?  They might be more accurate.

I must step in and confirm.

It is  Ludwig van Beethoven.

The best and most reliable source of genuine info.:

Hey Hairspray, telling by what time you wrote that last post, you probably couldn't sleep, so you decided to surf the net while listening to Duran Duran at a very low volume (I like DD, too). How long did it take you to find all that information on Beethoven's middle name?

How did you know? ? ? Or was that smartalec-ness?  ;)

It's always nice to run into (or across ;D) other Duran Duran fans.
