Subject: name this song

Evening all.
I was looking over some radio airchecks scraps on the 100kwatts website and found one that had a snippet of music I cannot identify.  The song I am curious about kicks in about 16 seconds into the clip.  The aircheck date is October 1988 and I thought it was Gloria Estefan (“Get On Your Feet”) but I listened to Gloria and the songs don’t sound the same at all.  So...

Ideas?

Wanna listen?

Here’s what you do:
Go to this link:

http://100kwatts.tmi.net/fm/AUS.html

Scroll down to “98.1”
There should be a small icon of a speaker and sound waves.
It’s about 30 seconds and in MP3 format.

Cheers.

I tried, but can't quite hear enough. You might try finding top 40 archives for Oct 1988 as this was supposed to have been that type of format...sorry can't help more. :(

Sounds kinda like "Crush On You" by The Jets to me.

Listened to this clip a few times. I heard only one real song.
It sounded like the Peter Frampton Cover

Artist: Big Mountain
Soundtrack : reality bites (1994)
Oh baby I love your way everyday,
Everyday…yeah…yeah
Oh baby I love your way, everyday
Shadows grow so long before my eyes
And they're moving across the page
Suddenly the day turns into night
Far away from the city

* But don't hesitate
Cause your love won't wait
Ooh baby I love your way, everyday
I wanna tell you I love your way, everyday
I wanna be with you night and day

The moon appears to shy and light the sky
With the help of some fire fire
I wonder how they have the power to shine
Shine, shine, shine
Well I can see them under the pine
(Repeat *)

Ooh baby, oh baby please
Everyday…yeah…yeah

I can see tne sunset in your eyes
Brown and grey, and blue besides
Clouds are stalking island in the sun
I wish I could be one, out of the season
(Repeat *)

The other music sounded like station made intro tunes. Hope this helps

I was a PD/jock at a CHR station during the same time period and tried to use a little programming psychology---  Neither group (MSM/Jets) had a current on the charts at the time of that aircheck but were receiving plenty of airplay with recurrent/power gold material.  The jock talks the ramp but doesn't intro the song which indicates to me that it was a recurrent or power gold.  If it were a current, he probably would've at least indentified the artist.  I listened to it a few times, I am vascillating between "Crush on You"/ The Jets & possibly "Shake Your Love" from Debbie Gibson, which also would have been recurrent/power gold material.

It's not "Shake Your Love" or "Crush On You."  It could be "I Do You" by The Jets...I think that came out in '87...unfortunately I'm unable to find another audio sample of this song at the moment..
