I'm gonna have to go and check, first to see what the date is, and then to see if I said every three months or biannually...

I am thinking I said nominations will be in January. I'll work on it. Hopefully we get more of a turnout!

I think I looked recently, and it was back in August when you did that.. but that was when the were awarded.. they began in July.. so I guess you should try doing it again soon.. twice a year seems often enough.. too often and it gets overwhelming.. less often people will lose interest..

here are some suggested categories.. you don't have to use them... I think you did some of these last time..

Best political parody
Best food related parody
Most improved parody artist

Subject: Re: Amiright awards

here are some more ideas:

best Britney spears/pop artist parody - i mean like lebeiws parody to "Hold me thrill me kiss me kill me" and Mike FLorios parody to "Little miss cant be wrong"

Best amiright parody -I mean parodies that are about amiright

and maybe we can have a whatfreaks award for best whatfreak catagory...just one catagory

I like all of the quirky categories so far.  But just because I have to plug myself, there needs to be a Best Sports Parody  :).  Another idea I had was to do it Olympics style, so there would be 3 winners in each category, gold, silver, bronze, basically so that there would be more winners.  Let me know what you think.

Id say more like, best parody that barely got accepted to amiright

and also, you can try to do like, best Michael Florio parody and best Billy Florio parody and best Lebeiw parody and best Mike Armstrong parody as opposed to just doing Tong and STG

also, best New artist, like the nominees would be Syncronos, Jeremy Otto, and anyone else who has come in the last 6 months...

How about Best Mcdonalds parody, again?

and best ground-breaking parody, like someone's 50th parody or 100th

and best, ah...parody about peeing and Veegans

oh yeah, best opra

best boheimian rhapsody parody

and even Author of the past 6 months

tell me what you think...

how about best parody author to reach the 25 parodies mark..

and maybe pick one parody author (besides STG and Tong, since you did them already) who's in that 25 or more category, to highlight with a "best of ..." type category..

looks like everyone has ideas for this..

Okay, here's confirmed categories: ;D

Best Queen Parody
Best Parody Of Pop Artists (not necesarily to one of their songs - just making fun of a pop artist in general)
Breakthrough Parody Artist
Best Parody Artist (will be limited to last 6 months)
Best Parody (of the last 6 months)
Best "Sk8er Boi" Parody
Best Sports Parody
Best Osama Parody
Best Parody Duet
Best Lebeiw15 Parody
Best Phil Alexander/philbo baggins Parody
Best Tone-Def Parody
(expect "Best of..." categories for Mike Armstrong and both Florio brothers and Wolveroses at the Summer 2003 awards - I would do all seven of ya, but that wont leave much for the next awards!)

Also, four people will be getting special recognition awards. Who, you ask? We'll see.

wow.. that's a lot of categories.. are you going to have time to tabulate all those votes? and how are you going to do this? like five categories each week or something?

make sure you let me know when you start so I can keep a link on the front page to the messages with the voting candidates..

Subject: Re: Amiright awards

I think this will be much easier, I'm gonna set a poll up - vote once, results are private. I'll just post a link to each on the messageboard. I'll be starting searching for nominees now.

I have decided to drop the Food, Political, and amIright categories since those were done at the last awards, and dont really need to be redone - like the Best Parody Artist and Best Parody will.

*Edited To Add: The "Best Queen Parody" category has been changed to "Best 'Bohemian Rhapsody' Parody".

Subject: Re: Amiright awards

I have completed nominations for the first four categories already! They'll be posted soon.

Subject: Re: Amiright awards

Written By: STG on 12/31/02 at 09:34 p.m.

I don't expect any of my parodies on these categories.
But good luck to the rest.
From S.T.G.

PS-
You could do BEST Band-Dissing Parody or
Best Drug/Booze Parody
Just helping out.

keep in mind, I got most of my fame in between the time of these nominees and last nominees... ;)

Actually, S.T.G, "Best Band-Dissing Parody" is basically the same as the "Best Pop Artist Parody". All 6 diss the basic pop artists - BSB, Britney, etc.

He submits like 80 a year, so it would be good to give him his own category ::)  Of course, others do political parodies too, and there are a lot of good non-Tong parodies that deserve recognition.

Your Fruit-Fly/Pretty fly for a white guy parody is one on my favourite parodies list (I did biology to degree level, so that kind of thing appeals), though I have to admit I don't know the originals for most of them...
