If I created some sort of system on the site, where people trying to compose duet-style parodies, could keep a master parody that they are working on? or is email adequate enough for working on something like that?

I usually just do it by e-mail, and it works fine I guess, but I don't do duets that often, so I don't think it'd be that useful. But you might get a different response from S.T. G. or smeone that does a lot of duets.
