Here are a couple of female performers whose careers appear to be on hiatus based on lack of current hits/airplay: :D

Paula Cole:  She was all over the airwaves back in 1997-1998 with her album which featured "Where have all the Cowboys Gone" and "I Don't Wanna Wait".

But her career went south whenever it became widely known that she eschewed shaving her arm pits. ::)

An aside... I am working on a Paula Cole parody to be entitled "Where Have all the Porn Stars Gone?" 8)

Sarah MacLachlan: In 1997-2000 she was the hot tramp of the airwaves.  Her "Lilith Fair" (a.k.a. "Lesbopalooza") all-female tour also gained her more attention.

Alas, her brand of all-female somewhat-soft music became known in some circles as Tampon Rock and eventually we all got sick of it.  I think she will be back though. 8)

Thaks for your help... but i decided to do this one all by myself (i had it basically written in my head before i read this thread) This it it - i'm subitting it for monday:

It was a decade ago i guess
Salt-N-Pepa was a big success
But their stardom was a short-lived dream
Now they are a band creating team
Their better known recruits include
The twenty one year old B. Spears
Salt-N-Pepa's Lady Has-Beens Band

We're Salt-N-Pepa's Lady Has-Beens Band
We're not too proud of who we are
We're Salt-N-Pepa's Lady Has-Beens Band
A bunch of former superstars
Salt-N-Pepa's Lady, Salt-N-Pepa's Lady,
Salt-N-Pepa's Lady Has-Beens Band
We once had brilliant careers
We can recall them still
Yes people were in awe of us
We hope that you don't groan at us
We hope that you don't groan

And then after like a year or two
Britney Spears is gonna get the boot
Then they will have to find another voice
It won't be a complicated choice
Then they will introduce to you
The Skater Girl Avril Lavigne
And Salt-N-Pepa's Lady Has-Beens Band

Some of the groups you mentioned could be part of the band (if it existed)
