OMG... people are sooo stupid...  ::)

It's probably that "One-Guy" who is trying to ruin everyone's parody vote count    :P

So yeah... I'd like to see the person who built that site write some of their own parodies, eh?

How did you come about that site anyway?

The guy who runs the "Boot Newt Sing Along Page" and has been polluting the pardoy/misheard lyrics site "Amiright.com" with his knack for turning every song ever written into anti-Republican propaganda (if not to
make fun of his detractors). I'm not impressed with this, and I am appalled that when someone else said they weren't impressed, Tong's "fan club" blew off her complaint simply because she had not written any
parodies herself! What, people who don't write parodies themselves can't make complaints, or their complaintas are meaningless? Are all complaints by someone who only reads the stuff out of jealously and nothing
more? THAT IS JUST WRONG! Everybody has a right to voice their opinion, and be heard! But I digress. Anyway, 500+ plus parodies (all left-wing propaganda with bad grammar and made-up words) is NOT true
talent.End Quote

I'm not so sure about the "bad grammar and made-up words" and I'm also not going to go so extreme as to call it "propaganda" because it's simply Will's opinion (which I don't happen to agree with, but ain't that America?).

I'm curious to know how this "detractor" worded her complaint though :)

But considering that she hadn't written any parodies herself, and Will has a bajillion to his name from all eras of music, I'd say he had plenty of talent.  Though a little bit of variety wouldn't hurt, y'know?  ;)

You're famous! Perhaps I'll have my own black ribbon site someday. Unfortunately I don't have the time, the patience, the talent, or the will to get under someone's skin so much as to push them into creating that site.

Be sure to have a link to that on your website. That would be hilarious. Stick it up there with your dumb e-mails! ;D

The most accurate statement on the web site is the creator referring to himself as “anonymous coward.”    While I disagree with most of Will Tong’s political views, I strongly commend him for his creativity, his way with words, and his productivity.  I don’t recall any bad grammar in Will Tong’s parodies; and made up words are probably more of a plus than a minus.  If I had to criticize Will Tong, it would be for the following two things:

1.      You don’t allow comments on your parodies!  I think I know why – you don’t have the time to read and respond to all of the comments your parodies would undoubtedly receive - but once in a while I would like the opportunity to comment.
2.      You don’t spell missile correctly.

Will, I really like your Benjamin Franklin quote.  And while your politics and mine are maybe 180° different, I do like one of your political parodies – “Ol’ Mr. Iran-Contra.”  The TIA is something for all Americans who treasure freedom to be concerned about.

Probably because so many people disagree with his political opinions... I can just imagine the loads of comments he would receive-- "Bush iz KEWL! So SHUT UP!"  etc.

I found that web page by accident, it popped up in a Google search for my web site.  This same "Anonymous Coward" nominated my web site for to About.com under the "Worst of the Web," because my listing used the same wording "...turning every song every written into an anti-Republican political parody."

John:
Thanks for your comments.  Yes, I'm embarrassed to have repeatedly spelled "missle" wrong, and I've corrected my web pages, but it isn't worth the bother for Chucky to do that here.

There is absolutely no need for anyone to take any of my parodies personally to the point of posting bogus complaints, "death threats," and ad hominem parodies about me.  (It's kind of like denying Pete Rose was the all-time hits leader in major league baseball, just because you're morally against gambling.   ;D )

This "Anonymous Coward" has struck before - he signed my guest book a year ago with the same bogus arguments, using the pseudonym "Krunk."

http://bootnewt.tripod.com/mailpage.htm#Krunk

I've kept the comments option "off" intentionally from my parodies, because it would be counterproductive and a waste of my time for me to constantly respond to flames and personal attacks, and Chuck would be driven to distraction handling them.

I did allow comments for this one, though:

Boo Birds
http://www.amiright.com/parody/70s/paulmccartney5.shtml

Maybe "Anonymous Coward" and like-minded detractors should open a website called "Amirightwing."   ;)

I remember this person's comment, it was for one one of the anti-Tong parodies (not that I've allowed many over the years).. it wasn't a well written comment, and they really didn't have anything to say except they don't like Will's parodies.

personally, I think someone should report that link to the webmaster of the site, it could be construed as a death threat, which is quite illegeal.

There seems to be a growing number of people, who think freedom of speech only refers to their side of the issue (The Bush administration was quite vocal in calling people who disagree with them at the time of 9/11, traitors). The person who left this comment had plenty of free speech to disagree, but thinks William Tong shouldn't be allowed to speak his piece.. That is by definition, a pathetic whiner

A death threat?

Okay, people, let's not take this out of hand here.

And while that comment is an annoying whine without much to say (if you don't like them, don't read them, geez), I don't see where they said anything about how Will shouldn't be allowed to speak his piece.

Well, I must admit that I first came to the parody site packin' 'virtual pistols' for Will, but even I've mellowed since then. I am sorry to see someone post such a nasty (and kind of frightening :o ) site.

Will, I am sorry to say that I don't read your parodies, 'cus they are just too far at the end of the spectrum for me (I do read and sometimes vote on some of Michael's and John Harvey's political ones). I would be afraid, however, with yours that I might be tempted to give you lower marks than you deserve and I would not want to do that. If you ever drop in a non-political parody, though, I would love to look it over. :)

Well, at least the site you linked above indicates that you have a certain universal notoriety! Just keep your head low, I guess! ;D

John:

If I took out the header that reads "As sung by Jenna Bush" there are no specific references to Jenna or anybody connected with politics in my lyrics.  It's a drinking song that can be sung from anyone's point of view.  With that in mind, it's not really a political song.

If Trent Lott had not made a silly statement with racial ramifications, he would still be the Senate Majority Leader.  If Iraq was complying with the 1991 Surrender Terms, the United States and its coalition would not be pursuing regime change.  If Al Gore...

It is true that without the header, your parody is a very non-offensive drinking parody.  And, even with the header, it is not that offensive; but it is political.  I consider the header to be part of the parody.
