I'm glad you mentioned this! I had read the guidelines prior to my first submission, but didn't remember that rule and I was thinking I might do something to the Monkees theme,  next.  Just as well, it was a lame idea, anyway.  Hmm... Since he went back and added a verse before releasing it and it hit the charts,  I wonder if the single version of John Sebastian's "Welcome Back" is fair game.

I would think it would be....infact I would think that the Monkees theme would be ok too...
WE have so many parodies of like the Ballad of Jed CLampet and The cheers theme and the MASH theme.....it seems weird...

Chuck, what do you consider a theme song?

Hey, I have a question about the guidelines too.. when you say "no parodies about other parody authors" does that include non-attack parodies?  Like Malcolm Higgins has done about 100 of these

Must admit I never read the rules or half of my parodies would have been banned.  As someone who writes by the theme simply because it is (they are) recognized by many and add to the comedic value of a parody, I say go for it.  Perhaps we should amend the Constitution (so to speak) to allow free speech rather than inhibit it.  Let's here that "Welcome Back (Kotter)" parody.

the no theme song rule is new, and designed to cut down on the three line parodies, that aren't really aren't much work to put together at all..

as far as parodies about other parody authors, I'd prefer none at all.. but attack parodies are what I'm deleting right now.. if the parodies about other parody authors gets out of control, I'll start enforcing the rule without any discrimination

yeah I guess so.. that's got a decent amount of lyrics to it.. I'm mostly trying to discourage anymore BBC theme parodies.. and stuff that isn't longer than a limerick.. I guess I need a better definition of this rule..
