Billy, this song is a classic example of the use of Double Entendres, or phrases that have two meanings.

Much like Billy Joel's 1970's song "Captain Jack".  Yes, "Captain Jack" is a liquor (not to be confused with Jack Daniels, a clearly more superior refreshment), but is there anyone alive who doubts that the tune "Captain Jack" is about self-gratification?  :P

Double Entendres are the stock-in-trade of self gratification lyrics.  It is what makes them fun.  :D

And so it is with "I Drink Alone".  The mention of liquors with "Jack" and "Jimmy" (note he says Jimmy, not Jim) in them leaves no doubt as to what he's REALLY singing about.  ;)
