Subject: Kazaa Question

Written By: princessofpop on 06/01/03 at 09:08 p.m.

I know that Kazaa says you can't look up a person's "Kazaa Name" to view their playlists, unless that person is dl'ing from you or you view their name under a song search.....but is there anyway to get around that?

I have been trying to find a particular person's song list but whevener I try to look up songs that he has in his files, his name never comes up. Is there any other way I can find it?

Also, my friend has some very rare cuts in his Kazaa lists, and I know he's logged on, but the songs still don't come up when I do a search. What am I doing wrong?

BTW:  This person is having the same trouble "finding me" on Kazaa as well.

Thanks.

Modified to Add:  oops, I meant to put this in PPP  ::)  sorry

On KaZaA Lite you can configure your preferences so that others cannot look up what you have (it's not the same as disable sharing).  Since the US Government has allowed companies to legally hack and disable those with pirated software on their system, the makers of KaZaA Lite have offered a simple solution to it by offering this preference.

Also, when there are two or more sources to download from, you cannot search their lists.  I have found a way around this but it means you have to be quick on the "stop searching" button as soon as the user with the file shows up on my screen.

I've found thru experimentation that it's a good idea to have the "Automatically Search for More Sources" box in the upper left corner checked.  It has found me many files that I could download from normally but otherwise would have missed.  Sometimes it takes a few minutes but it works often enough for me to keep using it.

As well, make sure your friend has the keywords entered in for the files you are requesting.  Again via experimentation, I have found that it sometimes will skip some files that had their descriptions, etc left blank.  Not sure why that happens, but it sometimes does.

Maybe a future version of KaZaA will include the ability to look up a certain user.

Hope this helps!  :)

With Kazaa, even though it says that there are 8,000,000 people logged on, they all aren't on the same "NODE" (whatever the heck that means)...every time you log onto Kazaa you are on a different NODE and you will get different users with different songs to d/l...I tested this out and it's true. FBVP and I were having a bugger of a time trying to d/l from each other and ended up doing it through yahoo b/c we couldn't get on the same NODE on Kazaa...

Thank you guys for your help.  Hey Jonman....could you explain to me either here or in PM how you transferred files through Yahoo?  I have tried sending songs to a Yahoo email addy but it always says the files are too big.
