Subject: parody survivor finals

Written By: Ethan Mawyer on 10/23/03 at 11:13 a.m.

i tried to post this before but the thread somehow got merged with another one. Anyway the way the final round works is each contestant picks a topic along with an original performer. And each topic must be done with the performer picked by the other person. For example if phil picks sports and elton john and peter picks greek mythology and the rolling stones then both contestants have to do a sports parody to a rolling stones song and a mythology parody to an elton john song.

When you make your choices send them to me in a pm i'll announce what the topics are in this thread as soon as i can. If i consider a topic to be too narrow or an artist not well known enough ( i should know at least 5 of their songs) then i'll tell you so you can try again

Entries are due 2 weeks after the final topic are announced. If you're both done early thats ok as long as you make sure all 4 songs are submitted on the same day. There will be 7 judges who will give a simple vote for whoever they think should win... i havent found them yet i will eventually

I've got the rules for the 2 songs now

1. (the relatively easy 1) A parody about star trek to a CCR song

2. (good luck with this 1) A parody about medieval/renaissance history (6th to 16th century inclusive) to the tune of a KISS song

i'd like to see weekly top 10 songs (or at least pretty close to it) for the 1st one and all i expect from the 2nd is finish and do your best

Good luck... entries must be submitted on Friday, november 6th Amiright time (look at the top of the messageboard to see what day it is)

Come to think about it, not with 5 well known songs to their name, no.  8)

Though Chocolate-Covered Raisins could be credited for many impromptu live performances ;D

Do you want them to be included in the Friday update or the Saturday update? With Phil sitting in England and me sitting in Sweden we both have two options from that since updates here takes place sometime in the afternoon, mostly between 15:00-18:00. If we submit early theyīll be with the friday submissions, if we wait until the evening theyīll be up saturday.

I finished mine off in the departure lounge at Luton Airport on Thursday...  might synchronising entries be easier if we IM them to you (Ethan)?

Far be it from me to complain, but the next Friday, November 6th is going to be in 2009... might Friday 7th (2003) be more appropriate?

My two entries have been submitted.  They are:

"Holy Knights" to "Crazy Nights" by Kiss

And may the best tunes win ;-)

Why don't you start a new thread like this one on the new "Song Parodies" board? Cause that's what it's there for.

And these are mine:

"Star Trek Watchin' " to the tune of "Bad Moon Rising" by CCR.

"Renaissance Man" to the tune of "2.000 Man" by Kiss.
(Can be found on the "Dynasty" Album)

Let the games begin!

because the thread is not finished yet.. the new board is for new threads, not old ones..

When you guys get to a final thread for the contest (announce winners and such), make sure you use the "Submit News" link on the front page of amiright, and I'll make sure to link it on the homepage of amiright. It would help if the first post in the topic contains a summary of what's been going on (since I don't know how many people have been following this on the messageboard, that hit the front page of the site)

Ethan. Itīs been more than a month now, how about declaring the competition a draw, or make some kind of closure based on what number of judges you did get to sign up for the final round?

Why did you have to resurect this thread? This one's parody related, and I'm surprised you just didn't start one related to this in the song parodies forum.  ::)
