In the Squeeze song, what does "a flannel for my face" mean?

er... a flannel is something you wash your face with (usually about a foot square, made of thin towelling-type material)

Unless the lyricist is being particularly metaphorical, of course

Something I always wondered from that song.

Is the lyric "Tempted by the fruit of a mother"

or is it "Tempted by the fruit of an udder" ?
